Saw a review of Six of Crows that was like "this is a fun book but the characters do not remotely think or act like teenagers." Lol. I was thinking the same thing the entire time like you expect me to believe any of these extremely competent professionals are younger than 20. I know a lot of YA books suspend disbelief in this way but Six of Crows was maybe the worst offender I've ever read where the characters are so obviously adults but the author made them seventeen-year-olds arbitrarily. End the obsession with youth lol. Kids can read YA books about competent adults acting like adults, it's good for them because then you don't think you stop being cool once you hit eighteen. If u wanna write a book about seventeen-year-olds maybe center the premise around things seventeen-year-olds might actually think/say/do, even as fantasy criminals
