So Ghelenek is a pretty messed up village.
It looks empty at first. No skeletons. No weapons. No enemies. Nothing. It's even a little hopeful? Like maybe the people left before things got bad and made it to Cipal!
But then Frey finds a bit of lore talking about how Prav would forcibly move people from safe regions to corrupted ones, providing the suggestion that the population was relocated to their doom. Which is. Less hopeful.
Further exploration finds a locked door that, upon opening, finally provides us with some skeletons: lined up against the wall, shot through with arrows. Giving the impression of an execution via Prav's archers. The accompanying lore talks about Prav's "assisted containment." About how she would lock fleeing citizens in their homes to await death by eventual Break.
So! Now we have the idea of a village where most people were forced to move further into the Break, while those who resisted were first shot and then locked up to await death by wounds/starvation/Break.
The fact that, upon finishing exploration, Frey is attacked by Prav's minions just reinforces these notions. It feels like they sensed life in a village that were ordered to "clear," and they've returned to finish the job.
