Random Inception Headcanon Time!

Today’s episode: Sick days! Who’s a whiny baby when they fall ill, and who lives in denial? Who likes using more natural medicine, if anyone?

As a parent, Cobb is no stranger to ‘the crud,’ AKA the relatively minor illnesses that ravage through children when enough of them gather together. They are essentially human-shaped Petri dishes after all. So stuff like colds and flus don’t often slow him down. And he’ll even do his best to power through the more serious illnesses. Like the time Philippa caught chicken pox, which was a helluva time to find out that Cobb had never had it before. Or the time the whole family, Cobb last, had strep throat. Through it all, he never loses sight of what’s important - that, sick or not, these children depend on him, so he better act like an adult.

Arthur refuses to acknowledge sickness, any time it hits him. He figures it’s a mind over matter thing, and that if he ignores it, it’ll go away. A philosophy which drives Eames insane… especially when it seems to work at least 75% of the time. Most of time, Arthur is sick for a day, then fine by next morning/afternoon. The times when he’s not, however, he spends it mostly in bed. He also gets a bit more clingy, which Eames would tell you is the only silver lining to his partner being sick. And Eames does enjoy waiting on his darling hand and foot when he’s ill.

Eames is quite the terror when he’s sick. Needy, whiny, very much the ‘woe is me why were we made to suffer such indignities’ type of person. Arthur will only roll his eyes and take it all in stride. And they’ll snipe at each other, playfully. Because that’s just Eames exaggerating, being dramatic, in order to be taken care of. It’s when Eames is curled up under blankets, monosyllabic and quietly miserable, that Arthur knows he REALLY doesn’t feel good. That’s when he’s at his most vulnerable, physically and emotionally, and those are the times when Arthur is the one waiting on his lover hand and foot. Both of them have an unspoken understanding that these moments of illness - when they feel their absolute lowest - are never to be used as ammunition in a domestic spat. Whether a teasing one or a more serious one.

Ariadne has been known to overwork herself when she’s working on a passion project. Sometimes to the point of exhausted sickness. She’s trying to be better about this, though. Especially when the only person around to take care of her… is herself. And don’t even start talking about that, in her own words, “herbal remedy shit” around her.

Yusuf self-isolates at the first sign of trouble. A little throat tickle? A slight cough? Temperature risen by more than a degree or two? SHUT EVERYTHING DOWN. Part of this comes from growing up among a gaggle of siblings, who were always giving each other ‘the crud.’

Saito never gets sick, and that’s the story he’s sticking to. Everyone in his employ is sworn to secrecy. Literally - they signed NDAs and everything. If ever one of them were to, say, see him walking down the hall to his office, nose red with a box of tissues under his arm, well…

Robert takes care of himself quite well. Vitamins and other supplements are a regular sight in his house. As such, he’s rarely sick. But when he is, he powers through it. His father taught him that.

INCEPTIVERSARY 2020 IS COMING THIS JULY! 

INCEPTI...WHAT?

Inceptiversary is our yearly celebration of Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Every year the fandom gets together to create and support fan work, discuss the film and meet like minded individuals to talk about all things Inception (and a lot of Inception-adjacent things.) The event runs on average 5-6 weeks and contains a multitude of events ranging from spreading positivity to competitive writing to collaborative fan works.

The Inception 30 Day Challenge is 30 days of prompts about Inception. Everyone is invited to participate in as many days as they want and in any way they want, whether it be a photoset, original art, gifs, written word, or any other media. Prompts posted June 24th.

+ ARTHUR EAMES LAST DRABBLE WRITER STANDING @aeldws

Elimination drabble challenge. Sign-ups are first come, first serve, and there is limited room. Challenge usually runs seven or eight weeks, with one writer eliminated each week until a winner is announced. Each week drabbles are written according to Genre, Word Count, and Prompt, and writers have a week to submit their entry. Drabbles are voted on by the public and all entries are anonymous until a winner is decided. This event will run from July 3rd to August 21st. Sign ups on June 20th and 21st. Participants sign up to receive a bingo card comprised of randomised tropes and/or kinks taken from a preset list, and will  have to create work inspired by these, attempting to get a complete line for bingo. Every week, according to the week themes, fan fiction recommendations are posted. Wednesdays are Hump Day Fic and Fridays are Bunker Fic Friday. Hump fics are to get you through the week. Fluff, Crack, Silly fics that make you smile. Bunk fics are one that make you need to go hide in your bunk for 'special time' after reading. Usually more explicit fics and straight up smut. The Inception Friending Meme is a form that fandom members can fill out with some information about themselves and their interests. Their info is then entered into a database that everyone can check, with the hope of finding friends with common interests! Forms currently being updated. Musicians make covers of songs from the soundtrack and original works to be put in an EP. Sign ups open on 8th May and close on 29th May. People will share their contact details and how they would like to contribute to the album. There will also be listening parties for the soundtrack and actors' music, a playlist creation challenge and a small fic rec challenge.

Finally, here we are, readying ourselves for a very special 10 year anniversary of a movie that has had a huge impact on many of our lives. A lot of planning has and continues to go into this and we are always on the lookout for more hands on deck.

would u consider (starting this year, effective immediately) posting your cool "july xx is xxx theme day" posts at least two days early? i know u send out emails but circulating them 48 hours before may help remind folks that they should get their content ready. i know you email - but still. this is a different platform. i have two bond-adjacent sideblogs. i get soooo busy with both fest and inceptiversary so i spend an hour a day queuing and scheduling posts. i wish i had theme day posts from the cafe lined up and ready to go so i could schedule them to go out 1-2 times a day on each blog. i wanna help promote them. would u give this some consideration if it's not a hassle.

It will soon be July and you know what that means! IT’S INCEPTIVERSARY TIME!!!!!!

In case you don’t know (and that’s fine, we love new blood in this fandom), Inceptiversary is the yearly celebration of the release of the film that keeps us darlings dreaming bigger: Inception. It takes place over five weeks (July 1st to August 5th) and includes fandom focused events, challenges, and content. It’s when we Inceptionites come together to strengthen the community, show appreciation, and welcome in a new generation of dreamers!

ALL SHIPS ARE WELCOME in the Inceptiversary festivities and we encourage you to explore a ship you haven’t before. You never know what you might find!

“But wait, teacup,” you say. “How am I to keep track of all these awesome events? How will I know what’s happening and what’s to come?”

I’m glad you asked, dear dreamer, because we have the super-organized and equally awesome @freighttraininmybrain over at the Inception Social Calendar and the miraculous trio of @flosculatory, @deinvatiwrites, and @dbshawnblog on the @Inceptiversaryblog keeping us from succumbing to Inception FOMO! So hold onto your grip on reality because the unbelievable details of this year’s Inceptiversary are laid out below!

1) Theme Weeks: 

Inceptiversary is structured over five glorious weeks, each of which caters to a theme in fandom. Fans are encouraged to post and reblog all manner of content related to each week’s theme. Memes, fics, fanvids, artwork, conspiracy theories; all will find a home! And you may just discover something you didn’t know you needed in your life.

This year’s Theme Weeks are:

Week 1, July 1 - 7 No Stone Unturned - Inception Gen Week 

This is a special Theme Week this year as we’ve paired it with a prompt challenge of the same name that will be run by @bayta-darell! The Inception fandom has a ton of love to go around, but what about the non-romantic kind of love? This week, we're focusing on all of the great platonic and familial relationships with a series of daily prompts. These are just meant as a starting point to get you inspired and by all means, disregard these as much as you want! Week 5, July 29 - August 5 Crack/Fluff: 

It’s been a long month so kick back and relax with a large dose of everyone’s favourite guilty pleasure: Crackfic! We all need those fics that are purely for entertaining silly and happy ideas. They’re a soft place to land and a great opportunity to get wacky ideas out of your head! Indulge and enjoy the ride!

2. Watch Parties (@corinnetags, @noitsnacktime, @freighttraininmybrain ):    

Watch parties are an excellent way to meet other people in fandom and tend to create a ton of inspiration for future wips! All movies are connected to the cast of Inception in one way or another and will be held on either Slack or Discord or both depending on host availability/preference.  The schedule for all viewings can be found on the Inceptiversary Social Calendar.

On July 1st, 16th, and 31st, Inception Bingo during the Official (not really) Inception Watch Parties! You can check out the viewing times on the Inception Social Calendar. More info to come!

The first fandom to complete the challenge below will post the final product on their official fandom blog ASAP. The absolute deadline is Wednesday night at midnight ET (New York) - so before it becomes Thursday. This means if you haven’t finished the challenge by then, you must post whatever you have anyway. The post with the most entries will win ;)

What is expected of each fandom:

We want you to tell us the canon story in haiku form.

You must produce 30 haikus by 30 different people, posted in chronological order. 

You’ll need more than six writers a day to finish this before Wednesday if you want to win. Your fandom mods can choose how they want to do this - perhaps round robin-style where people tag each other on Tumblr? Or maybe the fandom Slack can be used to coordinate people? Or everyone can work on a Google doc and the mods can grab the first 30 volunteers? It’s all up to your fandom. Show us how well organized you are. 

YOU CAN STILL WIN WITHOUT HAVING 30 ENTRIES - YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE MORE THAN YOUR OPPONENT BY THE TIME THE DEADLINE ROLLS AROUND.

Bond fandom - for the purposes of this competition your canon is only Skyfall.

So... what’s the catch?

We weren’t going to make this easy for you :)

Under no circumstances will you refer to your leading male by name (Dominic Cobb/James Bond) or title (extractor/007) in telling us the story of the films through haikus. 

You cannot mention these five words: train, beach, fortress, gun, airport.

The final product must contain the names of at least 10 characters from your films (excluding the leading male of course)

The first and last haikus must start at the beginning of the film and end at the close of the film, but all the stuff in between is up to you. You choose which plot points to include or ignore. 

GO FORTH AND HAVE FUN! Remember that even if you don’t complete the challenge, you must post what you have by the Wednesday night!

As some of you (read: those of you in the Inception discord) may know, I am currently knee-deep in the sequel to my demon!Eames story. Progress is slow going, buuuuuuut I just so happened to write a bit more of it a few days ago! So getting tagged in a post like this is quite fortuitous, lol.

And who knows? Maybe the Great Creator, whoever they might be, would see fit to spare his spirit from the nothingness of eternity.

Sometime later, when the food was eaten and the wine was drunk, and both were sitting quite pleasantly together in Arthur’s belly, the two of them ended up curled up on the couch.

Inception Watch Party Survey 2023 is OUT!

It’s that time of year again!!! Get ready to gear up for Inceptiversary!

We want to know what you want to watch!!! Please use this survey to provide your opinion on watch party movie choices for Inceptiversary 2023, the fandom’s month-long celebration of Inception!

Your choices are not guaranteed, but they’ll be taken into account as the movie schedule is finalized. If you have any other films you’d like to watch that we’ve forgotten to include please mention within the survey in the “Other” field.

Survey closes Friday, June 16th, 11:59PM CST (Saturday, June 17th, 5:59AM BST/4:59AM GMT, Saturday, June 17th 2:59PM AEST).

For reference our last Inceptiversary watch parties occurred on Fridays at 9PM EDT (Saturdays at 1AM EDT), Saturdays at 4PM EDT (8PM GMT) and 8PM EDT (Sundays at 12AM GMT), and Sundays at 8pm EDT (Mondays at 12AM GMT), for six weekends over July & August. The movies were streamed through the Inception Discord server.

A Little Late to the Party

So: I’m dipping my toe into the Inception Arthur x Eames fandom but… is it still a thing? It’s been so long since the film came out -_-. Anyone know if it’s still an active fandom? Or have any recs? Normally I would just dive into the relationship tag in ao3 but… my fanfic writing has gotten in the way of my fanfic reading recently -_-

We are less than one week away from the start of Inceptiversary 2017!!!!!!!

We’ve got a little more info for you on what’s going on during the festivities, including start dates and handy links for where to find more info.

 Your #1 place for all Inception related info is @inceptiversary. Here you’ll find reblogs of all the info posts, so chances are you’ll find what you’re looking for with a little scrolling. Make sure to tag all your own posts with #inceptiversary so the blog picks them up!

 #2 is the Inceptiversary social calendar. If you notice anything missing from the calendar, please message @teacuphuman09 and it will be added asap!

 #3 Watch parties will be held in the Inception slack. Don’t have an invite? Send an ask to @guiltypuknowme and she’ll hook you up. Check @inceptiversarysocial for the movie poll and have your say in what we watch!  #9 Inception Reversebang is the beautiful marriage of fanart and fanfic, brought together for one hell of a challenge! Sign-ups for this will open in the second half of the month, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for all the great art and be inspired!

 #10 Psst, hey you. Yeah, you. You like tropes? How ‘bout kinks? Well then do I have the event for you! Trope/Kink Bingo is a fun and creative way to write that fic you always wanted to write, or challenge yourself with something you never thought you could. Pick a line, four corners, or join the blackout club! Bingo fics are open to all pairings and ships, and tend to get a lot of kudos and comments, and this year there are rumours of matching t-shirts in the works! 

 #11 If you’re going to get a bingo card you should also sign up for the Inception Comment Contest! In an attempt to encourage appreciative comments on fics, and fandom love all around, @teacuphuman09 (that’s me!) is running a contest that could see you, the reader/viewer, winning a fanwork from one of your favourite authors or artists! For authors/artists, this is a great way to give back and thank all those consumers of fandom who took the time to give you some love and put a smile on your face. Also, who feed your addiction, because as we all know, comments are like crack and our works live and die by them! The best part is that you can sign up as a commenter AND and a creator!  #13 @aelastwriter (Arthur and Eames Last Drabble Writer Standing) is a quick, competitive drabble contest that has the lovely side effect of flooding us with excellent, short fics that YOU get to vote on! This, of course, is strongly encouraged.
