a compilation of nearly every amaya drawn so far this year!
#artists on tumblr#my art#my ocs#lidkaer#i didnt expect the last one to stand out this much 😂#usually you do these sort of thing at the end of the year but i really needed to do one now. not 100% sure why yet#but i wanted to see how it all looks next to each other. also i had been feeling like i hadnt been drawing her much but! the were so many!#i didnt include all the them. a few were too doodly for me and i didnt include the gen!amaya one either. im kindof shook at how many of#them are just the same colorwise. i feel like i use to fuck around with colors a lot more before. i'll try to do that again then it was fun#getting her to more purple-ish colors rather than the bright pinks as been nice too. still obsessed by the grey eyed one. i think i'll try#to show off her shapeshifting more from now on. include her Other Form ive been keeping secrets for years (mostly because i couldnt draw it#in a way i liked for most of those years. but now im kind of getting the hang of it i feel)

Deme Rates Villagers, Part 4: Birds
Disclaimer: Images are from the wiki, all good dogs, my ratings are mainly just there because “Deme gives her abstract thoughts on villagers” is hardly a catchy thing.
Let’s get to the birbs! Are there borbs? No, not really, Animal Crossing birbs have a pretty straightfoward and uniform shape, they are most likely not borbs.
Ace
Another villager time forgot! Without seeing a clear shot of his eyes (they’re not perma-closed), a big element of his design is sadly lost on me. Otherwise, he’s pretty cute. Nothing fancy, but cute.
2 (Hidden Eyes) /5
Admiral
Eyebrows. Angry. Eyebrows!
...What’s with his stomach not being the same color as the underside of his face, though? It makes them feel disconnected, which honestly loses some of the appeal for me. On the other hand, angry eyebrows for a grumpy bird.
Eyebrows... /10
Anchovy
To be honest, I don’t know what to make of Anchovy. On the one hand: I like his simple, bird-like color scheme. I like his square eyebrows... But his expression, his pupils so very, very tiny... Kinda weirds me out. Which, spoiler, is going to be a thing with the birds. Not good eyes, the birds. But once I started looking at other screenshots, with his beak a bit more closed, I came to like his look of mild surprise, in a sort of flickering fondness.
A decent bird, perfectly cromulent.
I don’t know but it swings between 4-6/10
Flash
Oh man, look at this bird! It’s a crying shame he hasn’t returned since the gamecube days, what with his little swirly little hair-feather, sleepy rectangle eyes, and jaunty little hat, and a cute blue coloring. We are robbed of his revival, and I, for one, will weep for this little bird.
Blue Bird Lamentation / 10
Jacob
What is it with these birds and looking tremendously surprised by existence? Jacob is apparently sort of Brazil-inspired, which is an odd choice of country to make into a charmingly tropical bird, but alright. He and Pave can enjoy carnivale festivale together.
6 /10
Jacques
Look at this fantastic little hipster! He has a beard even if it’s absurd for a bird to have a beard! Blond eyebrows! The green beanie! If he’s come out before the existence of Smug, I’d say he’s a cute little lumberjack, but smug officially marks him as a proud resident of... Maybe Portland, but I’m thinking Seattle. Walks around in the rain, goes hiking in the woods on the weekends, sure, but during the week he goes to an independent coffee shop that does artisanal, free-trade coffee. He used to go to Starbucks, but then they got mainstream. Do hipsters of a certain type play the harmonica? Well, they do now because he is one and he does. Look me in the eyes and tell me I’m wrong. You can’t, can you? He’s so wonderfully a thing. Also, he’s got nice eyes, good, big pupils, and does a nice job tying his beanie color into the rest of his design. A good, good boy.
He would only accept a rating if it was ironic. I have no way of telling if my ratings are ironic or if they’ve looped back to being semi-sincere or if they’re just dumb gags and that’s not irony, you guys, so let the fact that he’s a serious contender for my New Horizons goals list be enough.
Jay
He’s really more of a swallow than a jay, looking at his coloring. Specifically, he’s got the red head and blue body and white underside of a Lesser Striped Swallow. So, now you know. That’s a plus for me, though not a super powerful one, and his eyes have that sort of strange staring quality I noted about Anchovy, but the eyebrows are less good. A rather run-of-the-mill bird.
He’s wearing a 6, however, so 6/10.
Jitters
Oh god that is unsettling. The dark-ringed eyes that are just the wrong sort of wide and staring... I feel like he’s seen Things. I don’t want him to show me Things. (What is funny is that I feel like, given the opportunity, I would probably loop back around and love his thousand-yard, sleepless, burnt-out stare. But I haven’t, so it creeps me out.)
Aaaaaaaaaaah! / 10
Joe
This bird is too small and dark for me to really see, but that might be a nice purple. Look, some villagers from the foggy shores of the past just cannot merit comment.
-/10
Lucha
I wonder why Nintendo keeps looking at luchadors and going “You know what this needs to be? A bird.” This is clearly Hawlucha’s little brother, and the effect could be more dramatic or detailed, but it does rather get the job done!
Lucha Libre / 10
Madame Rosa
Well, well, well, a villager with a form of address in their name! How interesting! I like her face, what little of it we can see, and I think her color is appealing. She looks suitably fancy. Honestly, another villager it is a shame to lose.
Admiral Gets To Come Back And That’s Fine But Why Not Rosa? / Villagers Who Didn’t Get Amiibo Cards
Medli
So, here we are. The first of the Amiibo specials! This one is obviously meant to be Medli from Wind Waker, and as an emulation, she’s cute, but please, understand... It’s creepy when fur or feathers or something on an animal character goes for that fair-toned flesh look. The naked mole rat look, except not on a naked mole rat. It’s creepy when custom ponies do it, it’s very creepy when Animal Crossing villagers do it. Please stop.
No Seriously I think about this every time I wanna make a pony of a specific fictional character and then I shudder in deep distaste / Please For the Love of All That Is Good And Holy, Stop. Let Them Have Fur! Or feathers!
Midge
Awwwwwwwwwww! Midge is so cute! Look at those cute little swirls on her cheeks! Her precious little tadpole eyes! She’s a pretty, rosy sort of pink, too. I approve, even if honestly there is no rhyme or reason to her, she is just cute.
(@ o’ v o’ @) / 10
Otis
Who is this guy, and what do I think about him? He looks... Like a bird. That covers that, I think.
-/10
Peck
Peck has a nice Java Sparrow look to him, though not entirely. The eyebrows are such a bright red that I don’t quite dig it, but I have to admit, he is a cute. Not my favorite vaguely Java-Sparrow-y person, though. That will always be Azami!
Drives Safely / 10
Piper
Man, Piper just does not have cute eyes, this image is a lie. She’s got half-circle eyes that make her look kind of bored. And given that she has so little detail, she really needed cute eyes to make me pleased.
3/10, an actual rating that isn’t just me giving a numerical shrug.
Robin
Robin’s pretty rockin’. I like the subtle blush, assuming that’s not a trick of this one screenshot. The little bit of blue “hair” up on his head ties together his tail and. Shame his stomach’s not red all the way down. Commit, Animal Crossing designers! Commit!
Rockin’ Robin: Tweet / Tweet Tweet
Shoukichi
Oh man, it’s a little daruma doll bird! That’s so good! Look at him, he got his wish I guess! Not much else to say, save that I am sad no one has seen him again. I wish he’d come back one day.
One Eye / Two, for that unfilled wish.
Sparro
This is a pretty cute sparrow. You know what he could use? Bigger eyes. I feel the eyes have been an issue with the birds, and I intend to solve this puzzle. ...I think, considering my reactions, it is that they have big round bobble-heads, and so need a big eye to not look weird. Anyway, I appreciate the big dark rings, but not the weird little blush. He looks like he had a little beard, also good.
W(hy is there a missing W?) / Z
Twiggy
Twiggy sure is. The blue on the cheeks and the tail is nicely tied, and I like the very dark stripes on the legs. I have no particular other feeling, but these are good eyes.
5/10, the rating that is me giving a numerical shrug.
Twirp
Oh, I see Nintendo once considered the matter of bird eyes. And making their pupils ginormous. I see. Hm. Well, I guess I do like it better That said, I have no idea what is going on with this creature. Is it meant to evoke a shaved head? Is this creature naked? He looks very naked. Look, just. I respect your saying farewell to me, Twirp. Goodbye.
??????? / 10
The birds have some fun motifs, and we’re seeing a lot of realistic-ish birds, which is fun, but I think we’ll definitely have more enthusiasm-inducing species. Not new time, though. Next time is cows and bulls, and my expectations are low.

Could you please explain your Oc's looks? I would appreciate it if you could be a little detailed? :)
I’m afraid I still don’t know entirely how Malum and Haley look, but I’ve got the other three down!
I have some drawings of them on here! I’ll reblog them later for reference!
Carter is black, and has curly black hair that’s just a little too long to be considered tidy. When I first drew him I drew his hair as straight and going just down past his ears, and then a little while ago I realized “Oop, wait, his hair would be naturally curly, wouldn’t it? Whoops.” His eyes are also yellow, though I’m considering maybe changing that sometime.
He wears a yellow suit, not a bright yellow but not quite pastel either, just soft. His pants are the same color. He has a white button-down undershirt, and an orange tie that he keeps tucked into his suit so that the end of the tie isn’t visible. His shoes are just normal brown dress shoes. He has a hat, it’s one of these ones that’s like a really short top-hat, kind of like a bowler hat but not exactly. Like um... like Bert’s hat during the little animated carnival sequence in Marry Poppins! But it’s yellow, not made of straw, and has an orange stripe just above the brim!
(I just started on Malum and realized I should probably include about cheekbones and jaws.) Carter’s got a good jawline. His cheekbones are average, he didn’t care much about them when making the body.
Ashlyn is quite pale. She has bright ginger hair, which she usually keeps in a ponytail. It would go just past her shoulders if she wore it down. Her eyes are a sort of blue-green.
She wears rather basic clothes. A gray hoodie, a solid color t-shirt (usually a light pink, she likes pink), blue jeans, and some kind of sneakers, color doesn’t matter there she just cares if they’re comfy. She also has an apron that she wears while baking, it’s pink and says “Made With Love” on the front in red bubble letters. Her grandma made it for her, it’s a little stained and has seen a lot of use.
(Editing to add about them cheeks...) Ashlyn is a little soft. Not a lot, because all the adventures are both good workouts and sometimes they will result in not eating enough for a long time, but she’s on the softer, chubbier side. I didn’t have this in my original drawing because I didn’t decide that then. Anyway, her face is more round and soft than everyone else’s.
Evelyn is also quite pale. She has black hair, the ends a bright sky-blue. It’s rather short, going down to just above her shoulders. Her eyes are also blue. When she’s in human form they’re a normal blue, maybe a little brighter than typical, probably quite close to Jack’s eye color for reference. When she’s in her magic form, her eyes are a bright, kind of glowy sky-blue, like her hair ends (I only have one colored pencil close to what I imagine so I have to use the same one for bother her hair and eyes).
She wears a black leather jacket, a purple t-shirt underneath, ripped jeans (usually black, gray, or dark blue), and nice sturdy boots (black or gray) with criss-crossing straps on the front . She also has a necklace with a silver chain and round sapphire pendant, but that’s usually hidden in her shirt.
Her magic form includes: the previously mentioned glowing blue eyes with slit sort of cat or snake like pupils, four black horns coming from her head ( two closer to the front that curve in like they’re trying to touch each other, two bigger ones that curve outward like they’re trying to get away from each other), long and lithe claws on her hands, pointed teeth, and two wings. The wings are... damn, I forget their color. I think a sort of gray-blue? We’ll see when I find the drawings.
Cheekbones and jaw. I am shit at drawing face structure, but oh my goodness. She doesn’t even need claws with her cheekbones and jaw, honestly. In a good way though.
I... may have been feeling extra gay when I decided how she looked. It was before I knew I was Bi but... I’m a little gay for my own character, not gonna lie. Even when she’s in magic form.
Haley... she has brown hair and brown eyes, I know that. Her hair is sort of wavy, and it goes down to her shoulders. Not above, not past, right at her shoulders. She usually wears it down. She’s also pale (I didn’t realize that Carter was the only character of color until after I made the main five, so most of the other sort of side-OCs are characters of color to make up for it).
She wears dresses a lot, usually with shorts or tights underneath. Her parents made her wear flats all the time, and while she does genuinely like them, she mostly wears sneakers because they have less uncomfortable memories attached. The dresses are usually sort of like t-shirt dresses or something, simple and loose and comfy! And of course her necklace from her aunt. I haven’t settled on a design, but it’s definitely gold.
Her cheekbones and jaw aren’t crazy, they’re just average. She was kind of gaunt for a while, with the stress of her home life at her parent’s and them not exactly taking the best care of her and not letting her take very good care of herself... but she’s healthier now, her face is more full, and she looks pretty normal!
Malum. I have no fucking clue with this man. Very pale, because he’s kind of... dead-ish? Not exactly, but he is a demon, and his blood isn’t blood-blood it’s demon blood. I think he’s got a strong jaw, just good bone structure in general, though his cheeks are probably a bit gaunt so he looks more tragic. His eyes are dark, dark brown when he’s in human form, orange when he’s in demon form.
His hair... probably black, mostly neat but long enough to get in his eyes sometimes. Maybe like, layered? I don’t know.
He’s really tall. I know that. Maybe muscular? Maybe not? I can’t decide. I mean, probably not very, at least visably, because that wouldn’t look very tragic, but I also had this idea about his design that I make him look like a sort of stereotypical “bad boy love interest” character, because he’s not a bad boy at all and he’s actually super sweet and soft, so that would be a funny contrast. But yeah, can’t decide.
Um... in terms on clothes, a lot of elbow length sleeve shirts I think. I think he has a maroon one he really likes. Probably a few normal t-shirts as well. I bet he’s got at least one with a cheesy pun or something on it, but he’d never let Carter know that. A lot of jeans, black and blue and maybe gray. Just sneakers really, for shoes.
I’m sorry this took forever! I hope this was satisfactory!

I bought the thing! I’ve gone through all my makeup stash except for my lipstick very recently (& makeup I went through earlier this year), and I’ve been using it and going out more, so I am developing a concrete list of things that I don’t have and would like to have. (as opposed to upcoming releases that I covet!) these are those eyeshadows:
a pigmented, matte bright-burnt orange. nothing that sheers out too peachy. I have not seen any that would properly fit the bill. makeup geek morocco is close but too coral, I think. UD spike is too red and too peach. coloured rain pumpkin pie is not at all what I am looking for, but now that I have seen it I have decided I will die without it! in which case empress would be worth trying, but it seems too red to me from here. devil, in the kat von d saint & sinner palette, is brighter than what I’m imagining but I like it the best but probably only because I’m heavily trying to talk myself out of talking myself out of wanting that palette very badly.
a true (not blue or grey, almost yellow-based) easter fucking lavender. I don’t know what kind of finish I imagine here, a lot of the shimmers end up looking too grey or blue, and a lot of mattes I end up hating. I just don’t feel like I have a real lavender! everything in the neighborhood is purported to suck. mufe has probably the perfect one in artist palette 3, which is a great palette with a few shades I love, and it’s also on sale I know I know, but for some reason I hate looking at all those colors together and it makes me not want it? even though I should want it?? OK FINE I want it. but less than that kat von d, which has less good reviews and at least 2-3 shadows I have fully duped :( there seem to be more decent eyeliners that would serve this, and I have a nyx liquid one, which is half the reason I’m trying to find a shadow to pair with it! there’s a creme color that matches the liner I have, but I’m trying to be very cautious about buying cream shadows, because I do not use them fast enough, and cheap ones will dry out on me very fast.
I may make one exception, though. there’s this pale aqua-mint cream shadow my mom used to wear--a greener essie mint candy apple, maybe?--that I want to replace. it’s by rimmel. I wore it a bit after she died but it came to me broken (all of her makeup was broken! take better care of your things everybody! close everything up tight!) and it’s just nasty now. it’s been sitting on my bathroom floor for months so that I’ll look at it and remember to find something, lmao! normally I would replace a cream shade with a powder formula for the aforementioned reasons, but. I love the way that I can wear this very opaque and creamy (cream--not matte, not shimmer, creamy) and it looks perfectly dated barbie, but when I sheer it out it has a nice skin finish. the shade can’t be too bright or too tiffany or too drab--just deadpan, cream. I must have it! it will take time.
there is a very specific metallic green from a few early 00s runway collections that I can’t place. I have a hair brush from that era that is this exact green. it is missing half of its bristles but I keep it, because it is this green. seen also, more vividly, in maurizio galante spring 2011. the only thing that approaches this green in spirit is sugarpill clickbait, which I may just need to snag. and a matching nail polish, please!
when I did a colourpop order last I told myself I have plenty of hot pinks and do not need a hot pink. since then I’ve played around with all my hot pinks and decided that I do not, in fact, have a suitable non-blue lipstick pink eyeshadow for the best possible monochrome face, especially as I’ve been leaning into more barbie pinks rather than the bluey fuchsias I feel more comfortable in. what I have is the maybelline color tattoo pigment in pink rebel, which is remarkably purple-ish, especially with its blue-based shimmer. it’s very pretty but as it builds up it only gets less hot pink, and more fairy-lavender. I also have an old sweetpea and fay pink pigment that is nearly orange, not suitable at all, and plenty of lighter, paler, and orchid pinks. so I’ve ordered (on sale!) nyx’s primal color pressed pigment in hot pink, which is exactly perfect. I also want to get colourpop slave2pink ASAP to supplement, those are the perfect ones, and the ones I’ve been using have been poor excuses. I would eventually like a (liquid or not) eye liner in that shade, which (along with a perfect red) are the only eyeliners I’m giving myself permission to seek until I start wearing liner more regularly. there are a lot of great options there, I think.
something I can do a full, opaque foil silver lid with. I like coloured raine flashing lights, both silvers in the ud heavy metals palette (though I do not want that palette!), urban decay shellshock, all of the silvers in the color tattoo line (this would be an appropriate application of a cream shadow! all of my old ones of these--and I had so many!--dried out!). I have so many extremely pigmented silver liners, I can’t believe I don’t have anything like this. I also love--at the alter of mixed metals, always--slightly fucked up/warmed/pewter silvers. NARS parallax is the best of all of the above, it’s perfect, I just can’t pay that much for a single.
can we talk about the chartreuse golds everyone is promising and failing to produce? I think butter london should make a wallis shadow! also, someone get me butter london wallis, finally, in 2017
