Irish-uwufication is so fucking weird anyway but like people act like Hozier - who writes primarily blues songs about politics, books and music he finds interesting, and having sex with hot women he picks up in bars - is just a nature man is so weird. Like you have Americans saying he is a bog man, he only writes acoustic songs about chaste love and nature. He lives in the woods and doesn’t interact with society at all. He is made of trees and fairies because that’s what Ireland is.

i need ghoap frantically making out against a door finally taking the leap on their feelings. need ghost grinding against soap, expecting to find him just as hard as him, only to feel nothing

and in all his wisdom and experience, he concludes soap was tortured and never told him

he’s trying to think of a delicate way to say he understands, that he’s been through it and it doesn’t change anything about how he feels (and who the fuck touched him so he can hunt them down and rend them limb from limb)

meanwhile trans!soap’s just trying to find the best angle to grind his cunt on ghost’s thigh

just it never even entering ghost’s head bc he’s never known a trans person but he has met plenty of people who’ve been tortured - himself included - so of course that’s his logical leap

soap takes off his shirt and he sees his top surgery scars and ghost asks if he wants him to kill the one who did it and soap just hums like, “actually, man did pretty good, they healed real well,” and ghost’s just teary-eyes with awe at how well he’s coping, “looking on the bright side, that’s my johnny.”

samurai by lupe fiasco possibly the most normal anyone's been about amy winehouse since she died...and by normal i mean like. he so clearly has a lot of respect for her as an artist rather than as The Amy Winehouse, which is not a sense i've gotten from a lot of people who even just reference her on songs...like there's the surface level concept of 'what if amy winehouse was a battle rapper?', but there's also the way he takes little stylistic notes from her music and works it into the songs. and there's the way it's an album about the nature of creativity and how that intersects with industry, and how having trust in yourself and your ability to create is the only thing that can carry you through when you're surrounded by people and companies that don't have your best interest in mind. kind of reminds me of david malouf's novel about ovid's exile, an imaginary life, in the sense that there's this connection with someone who has passed, and respect for their work, and an empathy and understanding with them as a person and artist, and a desire to give them more - a little more life, a different life. an imaginary life as a battle rapper - while also renewing the connection between the world and them and their work. just really interesting.
