Maybe he's a child, recently orphaned, with no immediate family. Maybe he finds a way to reach out to the nearest familiar face. Someone close to the incident. Someone who was present that day. Someone who understands. Maybe he asks Manfred von Karma to adopt him.

Maybe he's a newly emancipated 16 year-old, desperate to escape a nowhere town with grandparents or cousins who don't really know what to make of him. Maybe he forges his own destiny. Maybe he writes an email in his clumsy high school German asking for an apprenticeship.

Neither of these is a hard headcanon for me, but I do think they're fun to consider

Sorry that some people are coming after you, for simply correcting the "keysmash" thing. Especially when it comes to comparing Finnish to germantic languages. I have only been living in Finland for almost 3 months but I have come to appreciate the Finnish language a lot. And I know I made the loka-loca post, but that was purely for my own entertainment, and I really appreciated the explanations you gave regarding the names of the months, because it helped me a lot understand why they are called it the way they are, plus I love how informative your blog is, so kiitos for that 😊

I don't think there's anything wrong with the lokakuu post, and I'm really sorry if I made you feel bad about it. That was not my intention. It's a mnemonic and those can and should be as weird and whacky and memorable and meaningful for the individual learner as possible. That's a completely different topic. But I'm really glad my addition was helpful..! It's really interesting for me as well to research these things and learn new things (like, I bet most Finns aren't aware that joulukuu used to be called talvikuu).

as someone who is only vaguely acquainted with football (i was a fan of other sports growing up) i also do not know many, and any i do know it is vaguely most of the time lmao

england as a previously good-at-football nation (debatably) with intense rivalry with other european nations love making jokes and chants abr germany losing both world wars.

to my memory, i remember my dad and brother bringing up jokes abt it when i was growing up - it’s common in a sporting context when you’re doing the classic mudslinging ‘whose better’ type of thing im p sure.

in other contexts, not so much (but i was probably oblivious and/or not exposed to it much). i do think if a headline abt germant beating the uk/being better than us comes out, the joking response from many here would be abt germant losing 2 world wars tho.
