Perseus Nott (Percy) is a British wizard and a Slytherin student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry during the late 19th century. Born as a member of the infamous, pure-blooded Nott Family, he developed an interest in magic from a very young age. While his siblings and Percy had the same sort of pre-Hogwarts education, his family started noticing some differences in his behavior and his bond to magic.

Before even fully understanding Perseus' ability to perceive and feel magic on a different level, the 11-year-old boy was kidnapped by Ranrock, who, unlike his family, recognized his connection to ancient magic and realized the power he could harness. Legends spoke of the ancient magic's ability to reveal forgotten spells and unlock the secrets of the wizarding world, bringing great power to whoever could use it. Constantly torturing Percy to develop his ancient magic abilities, Ranrock forced the boy to split his personality into one calm, sensitive side and one calculated, psychopathic personality in order to survive. Presumably by accident, Percy used the ancient magic to destroy all the goblins and escape before being apprehended by the Ministry of Magic. Since they already knew about Ranrock and his malicious plans, they put two and two together and cast Obliviate on Percy, erasing his memory and the psychological damage the past year had inflicted on his life, or so they thought.

Percy's ability to learn quickly and the fact that no one knew about his past or why he was joining Hogwarts as a fifth-year student surprised everyone, as well as sparking a lot of curiosity. While pretending to be the clever, study-focused student he should be, Percy had his head already wrapped in a whole different kind of entertainment. The ancient walls of Hogwarts echoed with the footsteps of countless wizards and witches who had come before him. Too visible and obvious to ignore his power.
