@archive_moto Just a quick post of pride after having been witness to the new #IndianWreckingCrew pull out wins in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place this past Saturday night on the red Georgia clay of the #DixieSpeedway. A packed house and some excellent #FlatTrack racing, long live the revival! Here is a throw back from the pages of Georgia Motorcycle History, back 69 years ago when the original Indian Wrecking Crew’s Bobby Hill, the Columbus Comet came through Georgia to wring out all that his Sport Scout had to offer. The photo was taken on August 8th, 1948 at Atlanta's Lakewood Speedway as Indian's #71 Bobby Hill threw his #IndianScout around the dangerous curves of the Lakewood mile for the AMA's Class C 10-mile National against legends like George Delong, Billy Huber, Buck Brigance, and Atlanta's own Ted Edwards. When the checkered flag dropped, Bobby and Harley-Davidson's Billy Huber were so close that the first and only draw in the history of the AMA was declared, while hometown hero, Indian’s Ted Edwards came in just behind the pair. Congrats once again to the new #IndianWreckingCrew, @jmees1, @bradthebullet, @bsmithforty2 for putting on a hell of a show this weekend and continuing the long heritage of @indianmotorcycle in my beautiful home state of Georgia. There’s a new book coming soon about Georgia Motorcycle History, here’s a preview shot of Harry J. Glenn from June 1913. This is the Atlanta Motordrome, which we believe used to be in the area of the MLK center near downtown. Wild to think this used to be just a few miles away!
