The triplets have aged up. This is George with his girlfriend, Allison. 

George is a conscientious objector, and is studying to be a doctor. Allison is a research assistant at the local science lab.

George: Wilf’s a fireman, y’know.

Robert: Is he really?

George: Yeah...have you heard from William or Sylvie at all?

Robert: Afraid not. I’m sure they’ll write sooner or later.
