The peaceful dove (Geopelia placida) is a pigeon native to Australia and New Guinea. The peaceful dove is closely related to the zebra dove of south-east Asia and the barred dove of eastern Indonesia. Until recently, the three were classed as a single species, Geopelia striata, known as peaceful dove or zebra dove.

Peaceful Dove (Geopelia placida)
Peaceful Doves are relatively small pigeons that feed on the ground in places such as paddocks, beside roads, and in gardens. They are closely related to the Zebra Dove and the Barred Dove, and up until recently they were classed as a single species.

aziraphale has an animal form too and its a mildly leucistic and very fat geopelia placida aka a peaceful dove, and whenever he ends up as it he nests in crowleys hair and refuses to move. he still doesnt sleep he just sits there. menacing the customers in his shop by staring unblinkingly at them from his perch and cooing angrily.
#good omens#its like ratatouille but instead of a rat piloting a chef its a pigeon piloting a not bookshop owner#no i dont know if that species can be leucistic but this is MY headcanon and i get to choose the genetics#i refuse to believe only demons get animal avatars. the angels are just snobs and dont like to use them because theyre too earthly

[ID: in two images, each containing a grey pigeon with blue beak, eyes, and face feathers, covered in darker stripes. they are both standing in grass. the first image is of the Zebra dove, slightly browner in colour, and the second is the Peaceful dove, slightly bluer in colour]
some pigeons wear spots, these ones like stripes! which stripey pigeon is your favourite?
the Zebra dove sure has a great sense of style! I would let it pick out clothes for me! but, despite its name, the Peaceful dove only wants violence today. it wants to win, and it will do whatever it takes.
