What I want from Genshin (aside from a skip button) is some sense of spontaneity, that there's a possibility for something unexpected.

Obviously, that would be fake, they have to be planning stuff out to produce it ahead of time, but Genshin is just SO structured and regimented that there's not really... anything to look forward to.

You know what would get me hyped for Natlan? If the livestream went "here is what the upcoming concern glider looks like" (cool) and "here's the pet we're gonna give you for anni too" (could be fun) and "here's an Inazuma Chronicled banner for anniversary" (oh?) and THEN "and we're gonna let you have the fox mask from Ayaka's quest as a wearable accessory, talk to her to get it!" (OH??)

That would make me sit up. Cool glider (even if paid)? Cute pet? Unexpected banner that implies more future Chronicled banners? AND A COSMETIC? THAT IMPLIES MORE COSMETICS? What if they give us the aranara flower crown in 5.1?? Just that possibility would make me so hype for 5.1.

That's kind of what I mean. In FGO, I don't keep track of the details in Clairvoyance EX and the schedule is not one to one on details, so there's often some little surprise like "oh, so this character is getting a rank up, and this character is getting a skin" and even things like what mats are in a specific event shop make something small to look forward to. It spices things up a bit, in a way that rewards of just pull currency can't.

While in Genshin, we basically... know exactly when we'll get stuff. Because it's all linked to specific timings. We don't get pets from events anymore, aside from the seelie, so we know we'll only get the seelie and one on anni and that's it. We don't get gliders except from the concert bundle, the yearly collab (that I won't participate in) and the national reputation stuff. We get namecards pretty much entirely from rigid sources like that too. And costumes are exactly twice a year, for only two characters, and if you don't care about those two, sucks for you. Even when they add something new, like the echo trails, they are so weirdly convoluted to obtain and limited that it's just... not interesting.

I just want some fun little surprises that feel special. Is that so much to ask for?
