Made it! Thankfully managed to finish this digital poster at the right time✍️. So today’s the day! Genndy Tartakovsky’s “PRIMAL” will be debuting tonight on @adultswim, and to celebrate, here’s my rendition of the 2 main characters Spear & Fang, with Fang being a more accurate representation of the Tyrannosaurus Rex🦖. Ballpoint pen + Photoshop CC. I did think about having Spear be a Neanderthal, but decided to eventually go with his original design. This is my final ink drawing entry for the Primal x Inktober BONUS PROMPTS. The 4th and last week's prompt is "HUNTER" (replacing 25th "BUDDY", that is also applicable in this case 😉). They are both masterful killers but they almost became the PREY. They faced many dangers, bloodthirsty creatures and Death itself. They fought the more fierce and saw the wildest DISEASE. They became allies by force, as they both had a huge LOSS. But together, they are synergy... they are strong, they are tough. They are the mighty Spear and the sharp fierce Fang. Together they are a team but they also become one. Together they have no fear... more than a beast, more than a man. Because together they become wilder creating the ultimate HUNTER. ☠🗡🦖 I imagined them as an evolved hunter, equipped with the bodyparts of their preys, improving as consequence they defense and attack skills, allowing them to survive the hardest prehistoric lands. This is my ink drawing made for the first PRIMAL BONUS PROMPT created by @jakeparker for @inktober and @genndytartakovsky #Primal @AdultSwim show. This week's prompt was "PREY". My main idea was to represent that concept based on the quote "The hunter becomes the hunted" (as you can see the different hunter-prey situations going on the picture). Also I tried to experiment with different styles and techniques into the drawing 🖊✒. This is my homage / tribute to Genndy's work so I decided to use the following characters into my primal / prehistoric inspired drawing: - "Spear" (caveman, from Primal 🦴). - "Fang" (Spear's dinosaur companion, from Primal 🦖). - "Samurai Jack" (I don't need to name the show again... 🗡😋). - "Dexter" (you know... from Dexter's Laboratory 🧪) - "Jurassic Pooch" (Dexter's dog converted into dinosaur 🐶). - "Aku" (from Samurai Jack 👹. I made him in dinosaur form infected with Primal disease 🤮). - Also I added 3 more random animals on the water shore: a mammal 🐗 catching a fish 🐟, and some kind of aligator 🐊 hunting down the distracted mammal. Hey guys. Sorry for the lack of posts during the week. I’ve been down with the flu for the last few days 🤒 and was also doing some work before that on an old project, which I’m yet unable to share since I still need to get a definitive approval from the client. But in any case, here’s some more progress on Spear & Fang. We have 3 more days till the release of PRIMAL on @adultswim and I’m really excited to see how it turns out! Another thing that I should touch up on is #inktober. Now the approach for this year is going to be a more easygoing one. I’ll probably miss the 1st week of October, but I still want to get some quick ink artwork done as much as I can during the course of the month. October’s gonna be a very hectic month for me, but in a good way 😅. I still want to contribute to inktober as much as I can, but it won’t be as consistent as last year’s Inktober. Here’s a little something that I’m currently working on✍️. A new 2D animation show is going to be released on October 7th, called “PRIMAL”, which was created by the legendary Genndy Tartakovsky, who made the award winning “Samurai Jack”. I decided to produce a piece with a more accurate representation of the Tyrannosaurus 🦖that the cave man ends up befriending in the series, while also keeping some of the original design elements, like the big fang on the right side of its lower jaw. I’m aiming to have the whole piece finished on the show’s release date as a tribute. This is something I’m extremely excited about and am dying to check out on @adultswim. The trailers and clips have left a great impression on me. It’s very self aware, violent and it doesn’t take itself seriously. Which is why I think it will be very entertaining to watch.
