Gen:Lock Headcanons #7

I swear this is the last of the first batch. Maybe more will come later?

Cammie stims and paces when she's nervous

Val/entina does too, but it's more nuanced. Their stims usually involve playing with their knives or some sort of object.

Kazu picks at the skin around his nails.

Cammie and Chase both get the 'we need boundaries' talk after both of them walk in/mix into the others' spaces without warning.

Migas has to explain stuff to the team sometimes because they all just entirely miss social cues

Val/entina has a collection of photos saved just of Kazu throwing Cammie like a projectile in several ether games

For the month after the events of Storm Warning, every time Cammie's on the ether, as supervision, she has to be carried around by one of the others. Migas and Chase keep her on their shoulders, Val has her in one of those baby carriers, Yaz has her in a basket, Kazu just holds her under his arm like a football.

Everyone can tell when Cammie goes to the bathroom at night because she turns on all the lights to go

When the team get annoyed with Chase they'll send him Captchas.

Val/entina and Yaz are entirely too competitive in training

Val/entina was the first of the team forced to take time off after Yaz accidentally gave them a concussion in training

Kazu did the same to Yaz like two months later. They started training hand to hand combat without their suits at that point.

OKAY BUT LIKE

Team Genlock finally get their own rooms at RTASA and it takes Cammie 3 months to sleep in her own bed on her own after everything that happens.

Val lets her cuddle up for comfort. Kazu makes her sleep at the other end of his bed but lets her keep like a foot or something on his back so she knows he's still there. Yaz has her drag her mattress into her room because Cammie sleeps like a starfish but won't fall asleep until she does. If she goes to Migas the team finds them passed out on the floor with their ether goggles on in the morning. If she's not in someone else's room, the others are in hers making sure she's fine. Everyone keeps their doors open for the first couple months in case Cammie needs them, and she's careful not to wake the same person too many times in a row so everyone still gets decent sleep.

When Cammie finally goes to sleep on her own and doesn't wake any of them up, they almost cry with how happy they are that Cammie's getting better

The cast of zero being diverse doesn’t make the show diverse? Just because an actor is gay or black or whatever doesn’t make the character they’re playing that. It needs to actually be in the show to be canon.

i don’t 100% agree with you, like yeah, an actor being [x] doesn’t make the character they’re playing [x], but i do think the creators being [x] does make the show [x], at least partially, even if the characters aren’t. but like. to be clear i’m not claiming zero to be a beacon of representation. it kinda like. actively removed representation.

what i’m saying is “zero did not do a great job at representation in the text of the show itself” is a completely fucking different sentence than “zero is less diverse than previous seasons of red vs blue” and no matter how much canon rep previous seasons of rvb had it would not compare to actually having queer ppl and poc creating and working on the show. and also that previous seasons of rvb had almost no canon rep or diversity literally what the fuck are you talking about fanon does not make a show diverse oh my god why are you valuing headcanons over actual poc being in the industry i hate people on tumblr so much hoo. i’m okay. i’m not mad. just. exasperated.

(it also should be noted that kdin said when she tried to combat a homophobic plot point in genlock she was told by higher ups that rt had “done enough for the lgbt community” so like. something to consider when you’re choosing who to aim your criticism at)

Since Cammie made Nugget on her own, what if one day she decided to make little robot critters for the rest of the group as well.

-Chase and Yaz would both have birds. With Yaz’s being a phoenix and Chase’s being a falcon.

-Kazu would have a dragon. A  little red dragon with horns that resemble the ones on Kazu’s holon

-Val would have cat. A Bombay cat with purple eyes to match Val’s highlights in their hair.

-The critters are around the same size as Nugget.

-The more the critters are around their owners the more the adapt their personality.

-Kazu’s dragon loves to fly around him while he’s cooking, Kazu has to constantly swat him away not out of annoyance but to keep his little pal from falling into his food.

-Yaz’s phoenix loves to rest on her shoulders, Chase’s falcon sees this and tries to rest on Chase’s shoulders too but ends up falling through him.

-They each give their animals names. Yaz names hers Olympia, Chase names his Ranger, Kazu names his Blaze, and Val names theirs Midnight.

-Midnight loves to nap on people’s lap with Kazu being her favorite since he likes to sneak her bits of food when Val isn’t looking.

-When Blaze gets angry, puffs of steam come out from his nostrils. The first time Kazu saw him do this, he freaked out and rushed to Cammie to see whats wrong.

-After Cammie examined him and she said he’ll be fine as long as he doesn’t overheat his system.

-They each have their own charging pads. But each morning Cammie always finds Ranger and Olympia cuddled together on either of their charging pads.

-When the group are on a mission, Caliban becomes the babysitter for the critters.

-Blaze favorite place to sleep is on Kazu’s head, One time Kazu went around asking if anyone had seen Blaze since he couldn’t find him. Not knowing that Blaze was peacefully sleeping on his head.

Yaz? she tries to hide it behind a tough exterior but she’ll just MELT if given one (1) headpat

kazu? look i have no proof for this but the boi radiates love. he’s gotta share it or he’ll combust

val/entina? DEMANDS CONTACT. they want love and they will get it, dammit.

Even More Gen:Lock Headcanons because we need some more wholesome content after all that:

Since Holons ara able to send physical feedback to the pilots, they figured out that Chase would be able to feel through his as well. The day it clicked Cammie threw herself to him ignoring the training. The rest of the team joined in. When Migas came to see why there was holon dogpile in the middle of the training grounds, Cammie explained that this way Chase could recieve hugs! Migas didn’t need to be told twice and clung to his foot as best as he could.

Chase was internally sobbing the whole time.

The team would sometimes have a movie night after a long day. While browsing the Old but Good tag, Cammie pointed to a animated movie saying it looked cute. Chase gave a pterodactyl screech and quiclky went to the next page. He put that movie one time to his sister and since then he swore to never let someone watch Watership Down.

Long before meeting Cammie, Val/entina always had a soft spot for bunnies. Probably wanted one as a pet when they were a child.

Cammie has asked both Kazu and Val/entina to teach her swear words in their mother language. The absolute bastards actually did and Yasamin almost killed them both. 

Speaking of Yasamin, according to Migas, she has ‘Big Chancla Throw Energy’.

This proved to be true when Kazu didn’t clean his beard hairs from the sink after shaving. After ignoring the first warning of cleaning it at once, Yaz threw her shoe from one side to the hallway straight to his head when he ran away.

He cleaned the sink.

For Kazu, living with two, sometimes three, girls is difficult. One morning he woke up with a…problem. He refused to get out of bed and was covering himself with his sheets, mortified. Cammie and Yaz kept telling him to get up or he’d miss breakfast. Thankfully, Val/entina convinced them to leave, not before throwing him a pack of tissues and a smirk. 

Kazu avoided looking at anyone in the eyes for the rest of the day.

Something I want to see happen but will likely never happen: Migas recapping the events of the series in the same manner as Luis from Ant-Man/Ant-Man and the Wasp

So is anyone else thinking that:

Fake Sinclair’s physical body may be dead, but his mind somehow got into the ‘e-frame’, and will cause the black one-eyed mech seen in the trailer

The fact Chase is in a tube will cause serious complications later on, with him being unable to defend his physical form

Yasamin will be blamed for a Union betrayal sometime later in the series, due to her previous affiliation with them

Chase’s mom is somehow tied in the Union (not in a malicious way, but in a ‘I need to protect my family and I’ll do what I must’ way)

Neither side is exactly ‘good’, but Polity certainly seems to be the better option of the two (as it stands)

I dunno, I think a lot about this show and until we see more, I have way too many questions and theories with no definite answers in sight

GL Headcanons #3

Mostly Shogun Sniper oriented stuff this time

Val/entina starts binding their chest before their surgery

This leads to a hilarious conversation when Kazu inadvertently asks 'where'd they go?'

Val/entina once stained the bathroom purple after dyeing their hair. They're usually not that messy, but Cammie insisted on keeping them company and ended up playing with the dye too

Cammie had purple marks all over her for a solid week

Every time Kazu calls his parents, everyone runs to say hi to them

Zariku and Toshida basically treat the team as if they were their own kids

Miranda and Jodie once turned up to RTASA with a care package from Kazu's folks. Cammie definitely got manga from that.

Kazu and Val/entina start hooking up for fun and to blow off steam and there's no feelings involved they swear!

Everyone but Kazu and Val/entina can tell that's a lie

They tried to keep it quiet at first but forgot Cammie's room shares a wall with Kazu's

Yaz found out when Cammie barged into her room at 2am in the morning refusing to sleep in her own room

hm, alright so, info dump i guess. 

verse for android / cyborg chase (for both minds i guess); android for nemesis / union chase, cyborg for copy chase (like genji)

headcanon dumps:

copy chase is clearly upset about everything, so he’s going to be distant from everyone for a while and think things over. he’ll mostly spend a lot of time in his tank and shutting himself away. he refuses to talk about weller and what weller said for a while, until one of the team members drags it out of him

copy chase is upset with BOTH the colonel and the doctor, however, he still CARES about them. he’s just frustrated and hurt that he was lied to.

if comforted, chase will start to come around and realize he was pushing blame in the wrong place. so he directs his anger towards the union for grabbing him in the first place

once he finds out that weller is presumably dead, he’ll start to feel guilty, due to the fact that they had argued and that that had been their last conversation. he also believes that weller died thinking that chase hated him, which feeds even more into his guilt.

union chase can’t go back to his old body, regardless of what the union says, because he’s been uploaded into a mech for literally years (presumably 3-4), so he’s no longer compatible with his own body. 

union chase was led to believe that weller / the polity never bothered to look for him after he was captured. he was tortured and forced to live in his mech since they didn’t have his body. the union told him about his copy and set him after it so he can kill the copy and get his body back.

this was done so they can take out a very valuable member of the vanguard and genlock program, and also to get closer to weller most likely 

union chase, if freed from his mech and put into an android / given a body somehow, he won’t go anywhere near a mech for A VERY long time. 

he’ll also be restricted from the genlock program ANYWAY until the union influence wears off (aka he’s grounded)

I’M PROBABLY GONNA REGRET LISTING THESE HEADCANONS BECAUSE KNOWING RT, THEY’RE GONNA THROW MORE CURVEBALLS MY WAY AND DESTROY EVERYTHING I WORKED ON. It’s hard making headcanons when the show is still going oof. Guess I’ll change it all accordingly once new shit comes out.

Here,have some of my headcanons for Gen lock now that season one is done.

- Yaz is the team mom

-Cal is know for making terrible puns, to the point that Chase mutes him to spare the teams sanity

-One day Kazu gives the whole team a cooking lesson and it goes horrible wrong with Yaz burning her food, Val under cooking theirs and Cammie almost sets the kitchen on fire. Meanwhile Chase just watches as the chaos plays out.

-The ether and in the GL network is the only time the team can physical touch Chase and they take advantage of that by constantly hugging him and giving all of kinds of affection.

-Chase is super touch starved since he’s spent 4 years in a tank unable to touch or interact with anything.

-Cammie and Migas find a way for Chase’s hologram to interact with things to make him feel less like a ghost.

-Cammie has called Yaz “mom” by accident several times which just warms Yaz’s heart each time she does.

-One night on the Ether Chase see’s a glimpse of what he thinks is his sister’s avatar. Even hearing a faint “Julian?” before the figure disappears into the crowd.

-Nugget loves to climb around on everyone, which the whole team doesn’t mind at all.

-One time Nugget tried to jump onto Chase which resulted in him falling though Chase and onto the floor.

-Migas and Cammie stay up all night playing games until Yaz yells at the two of them to go to bed.

-Kazu gives Val some guitar lessons, in return Val teaches him how to dance.

- Val loves teasing Kazu mostly because they love seeing him get all flustered.

-They all sleep in one big cuddle pile with tons of pillows and blankets.

-Chase tries to join in but just phases through everything.

-Since Chase is stuck in his Holon he doesn’t really need to eat anymore.

-They bury Chase’s body since he doesn’t need it anymore.

-They visit Weller’s grave and Yaz starts to tear up since he was like a father to her

-Val and everyone comfort her.

-Kazu sees someone being disrespectful to Val for being genderfulid and he might not fully understand it yet but that doesn’t mean he’ll let someone be a dick to his teammate.

-He then steps in and tells the person to fuck off and is ready to fight if the person doesn’t listen.

-Val is flattered despite the fact they could have handle the situation on their own but are flattered none the less.

-Val and Yaz finally talk about their weird robot dreams, with Kazu shyly mentioning that he’s starting to have them too. Which makes Val smirk in response.

small kazu/chase headcanon: chase likes to watch kazu cook.  thats it.  even if he can’t eat it ((and the final result is... look kazu takes more care in taste than presentation)), there’s something so memorising about watching him at work

eventually kazu catches on that chase likes watching food get made and, since he can’t really impress chase with the TASTE of food, he begins looking into “food art” for chase.  it’s not something he’s particularly good at to begin with, but chase likes what he makes anyway
