don’t think twice, it’s alright
part 1/6 of wraith pinned to the mist
summary: you’re hellbent on keeping steve safe, but he’s just as hellbent on the same with you. [post s4, some canon divergence]
contains: steve x reader; gender unspecified reader; hurt/comfort with steve receiving; unrealized feelings; descriptions of blood/wounds and stitches; alive eddie we can’t do this without him gang
author’s note: idk. idk guys i just love him
He’s groggy. Waking up slowly and gently. Disoriented and so tired he’d might as well give up, but the voices he hears pulls him awake. His heavy lidded eyes slowly force their way open, revealing nothing but a very dark blur.
“Hey,” he hears. He can suddenly feel hands on his forehead, something hard pressed into his thigh. His brows furrow and a bit of panic kicks in. The last thing he remembers is an ungodly creature swinging at him, and now he’s here.
“Hey,” he hears again, and it’s a little clearer now. He relaxes, blinks a couple of times until his vision focuses in on you. “Steve.”
“Oh,” he sighs, relaxing. “Hey.”
“Hi,” you smile. Your hands are on his forehead and it’s then that he notices the dull ache there. He winces and tries to move a hand up, but yours gently pushes it back down. His stomach flips but he doesn’t have his bearings enough to understand why. If he’d been a little less dizzy, he would have noticed the blood on your fingers. “Easy, Steve. It’s okay.”
“‘s goin’ on?” he slurs.
“Nothin’ really,” you say. Something touches right above his eyebrow. “You got a little scratch, that’s all. You remember waking up a few minutes ago?”
He thinks about it hard for a minute before shaking his head. He feels like he would have remembered if you were there. “Uh-uh.”
“That’s okay.” Your voice is warm and soothing. Steve leans into it, relaxing a little further, letting you do whatever. “I’m just patching it up, okay? Do you hurt anywhere?”
He scrunches his nose and thinks about it again. “Feel kinda weird.”
“Yeah,” you laugh lightly. “Eddie gave me a Vicodin for you, probably feeling that.”
“Mmm.”’
“You ever have it before?”
He focuses on your voice. “Party once.”
“Really? Who’d’ve thought, huh?”
He smiles lazily, one eye falling shut as the other stays open. His vision is clearing now. Your face is inches from his as you examine the scratch on his forehead, your brows furrowed and your lips downturned. He frowns then, too. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothin’,” you say again. “Trying to figure out if you have highlights.”
He sighs. With your face so close to his, all he can really feel is a longing that tugs deep in his chest and makes his stomach flip. The pads of your fingers work easy on him, and he can see you biting your cheek in concentration. If he had the energy, he’d lean up to kiss you; instead, he lays and watches, melting at your attention.
“Where are we?”
“Nancy’s.” You pull away with a cotton gauze pad and his eyes widen at the blood. “No, it’s okay, Steve, it’s not bad. Promise. Robin says she’s seen you look worse.”
“Robin,” he repeats. “Where’s Robin?”
“She’s safe, she’s here,” you soothe. Something wet touches his forehead and he correctly assumes it’s rubbing alcohol. He can’t feel the sting, but the smell makes him shiver, albeit quells his nausea. “She’s upstairs with everyone. Everyone’s safe.”
Steve closes his eyes and exhales shakily. He jumps a little when you take his hand, giving it a little squeeze. He feels warm at the attention.
“You did good,” you whisper. “But if you ever jump out in front of something again, I’m gonna kill you.”
He laughs bluntly and forces his eyes open again. You’re away from him now. He deflates, searching for you, finding you again in front of him packing up a first aid kit. He sees some floss unraveled and his brows knit together again.
“What’s the floss for?”
“Don’t move your eyebrows, okay? You’ll make it bleed again.”
He gives up on the floss, watching you roll it back up. You grab something small and press it into your palm, which he now realizes is covered in blood. He gasps and tries to sit up, but you quickly shush him and push him back down onto the blankets and pillows below him.
“It’s okay -“
“Why are you bleeding?” he asks, his voice cracking, that panic coming back even though he’s almost delusional with sedation. “What happened?”
You blink. “It’s old blood, I’m not bleeding. I promise.”
“Did something hurt you?” he’s trying to push up again, and you lay him back down, holding him there gently with your hands. “What did I do?”
“You did nothing!” You’re almost admonishing him for it, eyes wild with something Steve can’t decipher. “You - Steve, Christ, you make me so mad sometimes.”
“Why?” he asks stupidly.
Your jaw sets and tears pool in your lash line. “Because - I don’t want to talk about it, okay? Can you please just lay here for me?”
He’ll find out later that the blood on your hands is his, but he’s quick to follow your instructions, especially after seeing you so upset. You tuck him in with a blanket, your blood caked hands pushing his hair away from his face. “I’m just going to clean up, okay? Gonna let everyone know you’re alright, and we’ll be back. Do you feel okay?”
Steve can only stare at you. You’re so pretty when you’re upset, and he knows he shouldn’t think that, but wow. Your eyes really sparkle when they’re wet. You’re an angel above him in the dim light of the Wheeler’s basement, a lamp on behind you acting as a halo. He licks his lips and tastes metal, but he doesn’t quite notice. “You’ll come back?”
You sigh and cup his cheek. “Yeah, Steve, I’ll be back, okay?”
He reaches up to put his hand over yours. “Okay.”
It’s not that he’s never really noticed you before, or how his chest gets tight when you’re around, or how he feels like he’d rather go mad and get hurt than ever see you bleed. But it’s like he’s gotten some sense knocked into him. As he watches you descend upstairs, a harsh tug pulls between his nose and throat. He has to focus to not cry, not wanting his brows to furrow and make him bleed like you warned. A shaking, painful exhale escapes his lips. He wants to be good for you and listen to you and never make you mad at him again.
But, that all said, he’ll jump in front of a thousand Demogorgons if it kept you safe.
You could hear everyone pacing upstairs while you stitched Steve up, and as you push the door open with your hip, holding your hands up and away from you, everyone sprints over. They look at you expectantly, a little too intensely, and you have to laugh a little. “He’s okay.”
Robin sighs, eyes avoiding your hands. “He’s an idiot,” she says, for the millionth time. “He’s such an idiot.”
Eddie’s got his head in his hands at the kitchen island. He’s been offering everyone Ativan, but he’s the only one who’s taken any. When he looks up at you he fake gags at the blood on your hands. You roll your eyes and head for the sink, grateful when Jonathan turns it on for you.
“So, he’s okay?” Nancy asks, stepping towards you. “No, like, lasting damage?”
“Uh.” You think about an answer as you lather up your hands. For the first time, your stomach twists at it. You’d been so focused on being a caretaker that you hadn’t had time to think about everything, but now you feel squeamish. “He might have a scar, and I’m pretty sure he’s on concussion twenty-three, but he’s alert.”
You can’t bring him to the hospital because you’d have to admit you were, in fact, monster hunting, which was a punishable offense. You’re thankful Nancy owned a needle and thread - Steve may have bled out otherwise. One wrong move for any of you could be fatal, even if it could typically be cured with medical attention. You force yourself to not think about that now, about the words he said downstairs, about the way his soft brown eyes were looking at you.
“Can we go see him?” Robin asks, halfway through the door.
“Is he still all - like -“ Eddie says, gesturing to his face and making a blech! noise.
“It’s mostly cleaned up,” you say, scrubbing your nails against the palm of your hand, Karen Wheeler’s pristine sink turning crimson. “He’s still handsome, Eddie, don’t worry. Just - don’t say anything to scare him, alright? He doesn’t know he’s stitched up.”
You’re left alone at the sink, illuminated with red and orange from the outside, a thin curtain blocking your view. You try to be as precise as possible with cleaning yourself up so Steve doesn’t worry again. You’re going to rip him a new one when he’s better, lambast him for ever asking what he did wrong when the only thing he’s ever done was care too much and think too little about himself.
You hear their words downstairs - Robin’s thick voice, Eddie’s exclamations - you looked so badass, dude, you busted that thing up! You think of Dustin and the kids, how mad they were that they weren’t allowed to come with you all tonight, but you all decided to not take any chances with them. You know Dustin’s going to lose his shit the moment he sees the criss-cross pattern on Steve’s forehead and you wonder momentarily if you should give him a call to prepare him.
Just as you’re turning off the sink, Jonathan comes bounding up the stairs, looking a little disheveled.
“Don’t like blood?” you ask, wiping your hands with a paper towel.
“Ha,” he deadpans. “He asked for you.”
Your lips pull into a tight line because you know he’s high on painkillers and he’s fixating on you because you’re the first person he saw when he woke up. Probably has questions about what’s happening, or what the hell you did to him. But when you make it downstairs and kneel beside him, he just frowns. “Where’d you go?”
“Had to clean my hands,” you say, holding them up for him. “All better, see?”
He looks past them and at your face. “You said you’d be back.”
“I am now, aren’t I?”
“Good,” he says, laying back and closing his eyes. “Don’t leave again.”
You swallow, chest aching. “Okay.”
“These guys can go.” He waves his hand lazily. “So goddamn loud.”
Eddie proves his point by bursting into laughter, making Steve wince.
“Okay,” you repeat. “How about we all try to rest a little? It’s almost morning, anyway.”
As everyone disperses, finding their own places among blanket forts and pillows, Steve stares at you very seriously.
You reach forward to ruffle his hair. “What are you thinkin’ about?”
He continues to stare, and just when it’s starting to worry you, he finally blinks like he snapped out of a trance. “Will you stay close to me?”
You laugh softly. “You want your nurse nearby, huh?”
“Huh? No, just you.”
Robin makes a noise off to the side - she’s still close enough to monitor him but far enough away that he can’t kick at her. When you look, she’s fighting back a smile, and the idea that she’s seeing this too makes your chest hot. You look back at him, his eyes already closed, gorgeous and miserable.
“Okay,” you whisper, grabbing a pillow and laying it next to him. His arm searches for you, finding your forearm, and he grips it.
“Don’t leave,” he says again, his voice quaking a little.
“I won’t,” you swear, glancing at the wound on his forehead, an anger swelling inside of you unbearably. “I’m right here.”

omega charles is pregnant with a baby boy. ferrari does a blue livery and racing kits as a gender reveal (and no charles cant drive)
This is AMAZING!!!! Alpha Max also has a special blue helmet for the race so I am guessing this is also part of the reveal to the world that they are expecting a little boy.
Imagine Ferrari actually holding a gender reveal party for Alpha Max and Omega Charles. They hide the car for Miami under a cover and then Max and Charles have to rip it off to find out whether it is pink or blue. Max is teasing Charles on the way there saying that they are going to turn up to find out what gender the baby is only to get told "we are checking"!
Charles is purring so loudly when he finds out. He would have been happy either way but now he knows his little pup is a boy and he is so excited. He gets dressed up in his baby blue race suit even though he won't be racing and he looks so adorable Max can't keep his hands off him. Charles spends most of the party sat in Max's lap nuzzling against him.

BIOGRAPHY
Basil was born in Oxford, an only child with a passion for music and movies. He was also taken with watching magicians like Penn and Teller, fascinated by their mastery of sleight of hand. He had dozens of books and magic kits which he mastered as a young boy, those skills coming in useful later in life. He also enjoyed their showmanship, the performance of a magic trick equally as important to the skill of the thing. Though his childhood was generally happy, there was friction between his parents which only increased as he got older. He was 12 when his Father eventually left for a younger woman, seeing his son only sporadically. It was around this time that Basil started stealing sweets and chocolate from the local shop and selling them at school. It was a tiny thrill sneaking things into his pockets and his backpack, a feeling which would stay with him into adolescence and adulthood when his thefts grew bigger and bolder.
As a teenager he was caught red handed trying to steal a bottle of vodka, moving on from selling candy to liquor and cigarettes. It was only the intervention by his Mother (and her good family name) that got him a slap on the wrist.
He went to Cambridge University with the intention to study medicine and become a doctor, but the party life of being a student was infinitely more interesting than his education. Basil started to ruminate on the fact that he wanted money, wanted to get it for himself, but he didn’t want to work for it. Why exhaust himself working long hours every day when there were others ways to get cash? He dropped out after his second year, much to the disappointment of his Mother, but he had other plans. Remaining in Cambridge, he teamed up with a friend to steal from crowds who would gather to watch their street magic. The boys would take it in turns to perform and pickpocket, though Basil was the better one at dipping in for purses and cash, even learning how to take watches. They collected a decent amount of money over the course of a year, but when his friend was caught trying to steal from the pocket of an undercover policeman, Basil did a runner with the rest of the money.
He continued honing his skills in pubs and bars, eventually deciding to target classier establishments and richer victims. In his late twenties, Basil met an older woman in a hotel bar in London, endearing himself to her, flirting and offering to be her date to various functions in exchange for cash when she revealed that she was a recently divorced Countess. This later developed into a relationship of convenience, both finding each other attractive enough for fun but not anything serious. Though her eldest son tried to intervene, Basil framed him for the theft of certain items of jewellery in order to turn the Countess against him. When she died unexpectedly a few years later and left Basil an eye watering sum of money, the son accused him of murder. There was no proof to back up these accusations but Basil ditched town with his new fortune as soon as the dust had settled.
And he realised that he could do this again. But who said he had to commit to a lengthy relationship this time around? All he had to do was sweet talk lonely people with more money than sense and disappear once he had what he wanted. He could- and would- use his new found connections to access the homes of the rich and famous via parties and dinners, swiping anything that took his fancy while he was there.
Basil is well-spoken normally with an English accent, but he often adopts an American accent for certain jobs. Needless to say, he excelled in drama classes at secondary school. He carries a switchblade and a handgun for protection. He’s not usually violent unless he’s backed into a corner but he will break your nose if he has to. He’s always been a bit of a thrill seeker and has a weakness for classic cars and cocktails. He enjoys blues and jazz and plays piano himself, often leaping at the chance to perform in tiny bars dedicated to such music.
VERSES
Main Spending his time coasting between America and the UK, Basil is out to get whatever he can. There’s nothing he wouldn’t steal if given the opportunity. He dabbles in all kinds of thievery, ranging from safe cracking to art forgery. In this verse he’s in his 50’s and has a lot of experience with charming targets and pinpointing exactly what he wants.
University Basil attends Cambridge University. He prefers to play rather than work and eventually drops out at the end of his second year.
Young Thief Anything set after Basil drops out of Uni. This verse incorporates his younger years right up to his mid 30’s. He’s still learning in some areas and already adept in others. He will pick your pocket. He will steal your watch. And maybe your wife.
Historical Basil is a snake oil salesman and thief. He drums up custom for phony medications, ranging from treatments for baldness to aphrodisiacs, none of which work. And when the police start sniffing around, he disappears to the next town to start all over again. He also seduces wealthy women by posing as a Lord or an American businessman, offering them marriage and running off the next day with as many jewels and bonds as he can shove in his pockets.
Spy Recruited at Cambridge during his student days, Basil is an excellent spy for the British Government. Late 20's to mid 30's.
Percy Jackson Son of Hermes. Basil’s powers were awakened by accident during an attempted pick pocketing. Leaving England to look for adventure in America, Basil had always been an adventurous and sneaky boy, looking to further develop his thieving skills. Age 15.

A Whole New Ballfield: "ALN" Story (Pre-Serum Omega!Steve and Alpha!Bucky Modern Domestic AU)
Eleven:
"When are they supposed to be here?" Finn asked, frosting the cupcakes for the gender reveal party.
"Noon," Kit answered, their voice going high and squeaky from the helium.
"What time is it now?" Cori whined, exasperated as she tried to follow the tutorial on how to twist the orange, black, and clear spider web balloons into an arch.
Inhaling another lungful from a baby mummy balloon, Kit told her, "Twelve fifteen."
Cori gave her sibling a pointed look before getting back to her and Bitsy's task. Then, the sisters shared a look that silently communicated everything they needed to say. It still always interested Steve and made him wonder how they could have a natural connection that deep with each other.
"They'll be here soon," Steve assured, making his way past the balloon crew in the living room to the decorating committee in the kitchen. Although, he didn't want a guest to feel like they needed to pitch in. "Sweetie, you don't have to do that."
"Oh, it's okay," Dani assured, putting different sizes of candy eyes on the frosted cupcakes. "My family owns a cakery. I've been lending a helping hand pretty much every weekend ever since I could see over the counter."
"Still," Steve smiled at the redhead, starting to help her with the rest of the cupcakes that Finn and Nevie were icing. Of course, who Steve was really paying attention to was Finn and how he looked at his girlfriend. It was all there, and Steve couldn't help but love that his son was in love. Especially with the object of his affection being someone who loved him just the same.
Catching Finn's eye, Steve playfully wiggled his eyebrows in a silent response. Blushing, Finn looked away. But that said it all. And Steve hoped for all that was holy that Natasha felt the same in all of her match-making magic.
As everyone worked in companiable silence, they were startled when Bobby Pickett's, Monster Mash, began playing over all of the Bluetooth speakers in the house. The tune itself announced the arrival of the parents-to-be and caused everyone else – but Bucky – to roll their eyes. Instead, the older alpha used his newer hip for dancing as he wiggled and shimmied to the familiar tune.
Coming up behind Steve, Bucky wrapped him up in his arms. Kissing the mating scar, he softly sang along to the lyrics into Steve's good ear. Despite himself, it still made him melt after all these years.
"'The zombies were having fun,'" Bucky sang, swaying them to the beat.
Sucking in another deep breath of helium, Kit continued, "'The party had just begun.'"
Dancing into the house, the guests of honor added, "'The guests included Wolfman, Dracula, and his son.'"
"Alright, alright," Steve playfully rolled his eyes. Lovingly, he shoved his mate away so he could get the cookies out of the oven. Broadly gesturing around himself, Steve asked, "Can you at least turn that down?"
"Sorry," Rhodey apologized, lowering the volume. Then, just like they were still the little kids they had once been, Rhodey pointed at his husband, "It was his idea."
Feigning scandalized, Ollie placed his hands on his bump and joked, "Do our vows mean nothing to you?"
Playfully, Rhodey narrowed his eyes into thin slits as he looked over his pregnant partner. Of course, just like Steve and Bucky had trouble staying mad – or even annoyed – at each other, the black man cracked a grin before leaning over to kiss a glistening, alabaster Ollie.
Setting the freshly baked cookies onto the cooling rack, Steve looked over at the twenty-seven year olds and paused. Not able to keep the smile off his face when he finally took the two of them in. There, the parents-to-be were dressed in fuzzy onesies. Rhodey's orange with black stripes, a springy tail, and the recognizable cartoon head as the hood. The perfect, T-I-double-GUH-ER!
But Oliver's was the one that made Steve giggle. Really, he should've expected it. After all, little Rory's nickname was, 'Roo.' It didn't take a genius to see Ollie in his own brown onesie with a large front pouch to know that he was Kanga.
"You guys really went all out with the theme, huh?" Nevie teased.
Oliver blew a raspberry at her and walked further into the house. Grabbing one of the green frosted cupcakes, he said, "Besides, we get it from them."
And, really, that was true. Halloween was one of Steve's and Bucky's favorite holidays. From even before they had met, they enjoyed the spooky festivities. Once they got together though was when the fun really happened. First with Ollie, and then with each of the kids in the ever-growing family.
So, now would be no different.
"Please," Bucky mocked. Dramatically flipping his black Batman cape over his broad – and currently padded – shoulder, "I don't know what you're talking about."
Oliver rolled his eyes, but a smile tugged at his lips as he continued eating the chocolate cupcake. Steve, himself, couldn't help but smile too. Especially when Ollie looked so much like the kid he had once been. At twenty-seven, Steve knew that his son wasn't a little boy anymore. But it didn't matter how old he was or how many kids the omega had; he'd always be that little guy that had his fathers wrapped around his little finger.
"So," Kit started, no longer using the helium to make others laugh.
"So?" Ollie prompted, reaching for another cupcake.
Finn swatted at him though. Not saying anything, just making sure that his brother didn't eat the treats that he had been helping with for the past half hour. Pouting, Ollie crossed his arms along his chest, over the bump. Dani wasn't as frustrated as Finn was though, and she handed her boyfriend's brother a vanilla cupcake with orange frosting and lots of little candy eyes.
"Wilma," Ollie started, pulling down the paper of the cupcake, "I always knew you could do better than Fred."
"Nonsense," Dani smiled at her partner, "I could never do any better than a Flintstone."
Then, like the dork he was, Finn unenthusiastically delivered, "Yabba dabba doo."
"This is what I get for being the middle child," Kit complained, regaining the attention from their brother.
"Sorry," Oliver apologized to his younger sibling. Blaming the sweet treat, "But you have no idea how bad pregnancy cravings are!"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Kit waved off, taking a seat. Impatiently, they asked, "Ya gonna tell us the sex or what?"
Blinking, Rhodey looked at Ollie and Ollie's brows furrowed. Meanwhile, Bitsy explained, "They don't know what Roo is either. None of us will find out until the party starts. And then we'll have to wait for everyone to get here. Like a birthday party."
"Lame," Kit slumped in their seat; looking positively ridiculous sitting there in their orange tuxedo sans matching top hat. "I was hoping that it was in the cupcakes."
"Is that why you ate eight?" Bitsy good-humoredly teased.
In reply, Kit shifted in their seat and loudly farted in their sisters' direction. Both girls made faces of disgust and covered their noses from the stench.
"Atticus Harold!" Steve and Bucky reprimanded together while Ollie half-joked, "I know who I'll be blaming my pregnancy gas on."
"Gross," Nevie giggled.
Steve's cheeks flamed as red as a tomato and he shot their guest a worried look. After all, he didn't want the twenty-three year old to think that this was normal behavior – even though it definitely was. Mainly though, Steve was embarrassed for Finn. He was one of the demurer Barnes children, and got embarrassed so much easier than the rest of them.
However, Dani didn't look in the least bit different. Well, that wasn't true. The beta was trying to stop herself from laughing. And that was a relief, especially when she wasn't able to stop it and loudly hiccupped her laughter, causing the rest of the family to join in. Even Finn.
"Well, I guess there's only one thing to say," Bucky grinned. Wrapping his arm around Dani's shoulders, he pulled her in close, "You're stuck with us now!"
"You should've run when you had the chance!" Cori joked, earning more laughter and agreeance from the rest of the family.

No one asked, but I have a bunch of queer headcanons for the battlecats based on vibes:
Leafpool is a disaster lesbian who spent her whole life thinking she's straight and that having her heart race every time she sees Cody/Sorreltail/Mothwing/etc. is perfectly hetero
Squilf is a bisexual trans molly. She occasionally contemplates running away w/ Jessy or Moonlight, but is currently too tired for romance
Moth is trans, demisexual, & lesbian, who's somewhat more self-aware about her feelings towards Leafpool but not by a whole lot. I also struggle to imagine her w/ anyone else, hence the demi part
Mousefur is a mean asexual & surprised a number of cats by never having kits. They can go suck a fire ant.
Nightcloud is somewhere on the ace spectrum, but she tried real hard to will the allosexuality into existence to keep her marriage afloat.
Hawkfrost is a mean trans demi homosexual. Yes all of Sasha's kits are gay, demi, & trans, and he's very handsome on top of that.
Mapleshade is an evil demi pansexual. If a time traveller moved a pebble on Sunningrocks, Dawnfeather, Birchface, & Myler all have the next highest chance of being her one & only <3<3<3
Needletail has genderqueer vibes. Unsatisfied with the rigidity of the Clan system, viewed as strange by a bunch of other cats.
I like the idea of demi Hollyleaf a lot, but I don't like the execution of her relationship w/ Fallen Leaves all the much. Hmmm...
Feathertail has vaguely gray sapphic energy, probably went along w/ Crowfeather's feelings bc she thought that's how a cat should handle receiving romantic affection & her brief flickers of reciprocation (that may or may exist & may or may not even be about him) seemingly validate it
Darkstripe is reverse Leafpool, a disaster gay who doesn't realized his unending devotion to Tigerstar I is more than platonic
Dovewing & Ivypool are both omnisexual, but I can't imagine either of them having a remotely healthy love life
Bonus: Tigerstar (I and II), Bramblestar, Ashfur, Lionheart (+ his sons), Lionblaze, Rootspring, & Nightheart would all unironically host a sexuality + gender reveal party where they scratch "he/him cishet" on the ground. They would've added "allo" to the list but it's unlikely any of them even know asexuality exists

How to Select the Perfect Balloons for Your Event in Qatar?

Queensland's life-changing new birth certificate laws start

Queensland's life-changing new birth certificate laws start
Queensland’s new birth certificate laws benefiting trans and gender-diverse folk as well as same-sex parents have officially started this week.
After years of lobbying, the reforms passed the Queensland parliament 12 months ago. The law changes finally came into effect on Monday (June 24).
Under the new laws, trans and gender-diverse people will no longer be required to undergo gender-affirming surgery to register a change of sex.
Nonbinary Queenslanders are now also able to reflect their identities in their birth certificates for the first time.
Moreover, the new birth certificate reforms also provide better recognition of same-sex and gender-diverse parents. Both parents can now register as either ‘mother,’ ‘father’ or simply ‘parent’ on their child’s birth certificate.
Find out more about the laws
Queensland’s LGBTI Legal Service is now offering free support to all LGBTQIA+ Queenslanders navigating the new laws.
The service can send you a free information kit, containing the forms you need and fact sheets with all the details about the changes.
Queenslanders can also request an advice appointment with the LGBTI Legal Service or celebrate their applications at a community lodging party.

Queensland birth certificate reforms are ‘life-changing’
The law reform comes after many years of lobbying by advocates, as Queensland lagged behind other states in Australia.
Equality Australia’s Ymania Brown, who is trans, said Queensland’s simple law changes are “life-changing” for trans and gender-diverse folk.
“What most people take for granted as a simple piece of paper is for trans and gender-diverse people the right to exist and be seen for who we are,” she said.
“Queensland was one of the last places in Australia to have cruel and outdated legal barriers denying many trans people ID that accurately reflects their gender.”
Due to a variety of barriers, gender-affirming surgery is not an option for many trans folk.
And having a birth certificate that failed to align with their gender identity meant many trans Queenslanders had to “out” themselves when applying for jobs, bank accounts, rentals, university or support services.
“It is a distressing experience to be forced to reveal intimate and private details about our bodies and lives, often in public settings,” Ymania said.
“Everyone deserves the respect and dignity of being recognised as themselves.”
Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath said last year the reforms modernise the laws and ensure “every Queenslander can have their legal identity align with their lived identity.”

Inquisitor as a Companion
~ORANA~
Race / Class / Specialisation: Elf/ Rogue (Dual-Blade)/ Assassin
Gender Identity: Trans woman
Varric’s Nickname for them: Kit
Short bio: A former slave, Orana is rescued by Garrett Hawke’s clan while they were tracking her then-mistress Hadriana. The crew later helping to train and mold her into a talented duellist. While a traumatic past leads her to be more cautious around strangers, Orana is at her core a nurturer, and fiercely driven to help the Inquisition after surviving the Conclave in order to protect and mend a war-torn Thedas for those she loves.
Recruitment mission: There’s a rumor circulating (overheard between Leliana and a scout at her tent in Haven) of an unknown elf who has been slipping in and out of camp and isn’t among the pilgrims and refugees. That doesn’t necessarily mean she’s working for the Venatori or this Elder One you keep hearing about, but it couldn’t hurt to know what she’s looking for and who she’s reporting back to. Speak to your companions or villagers around Haven who will offer up a description. After talking to three people, Varric can be found/seen speaking to the elf you’ve been looking for on the outskirts of Haven. Upon being caught, Varric will introduce her as an old associate from Kirkwall who’s been helping him to keep tabs on other old friends. In the wake of a letter from Varric about the Venatori, she is currently attempting to track down and make sure one such friend is safe. She will offer her services to the Inquisition as a spy and party member if you promise to assist her.
Where they would be in Skyhold / Haven: In the gardens at Skyhold, or wandering throughout camp or talking to Varric at the fireside in Haven.
~Personal quests~ Quest 1: Following the Blood Trail Orana is trying to follow up on rumors of Tevinter Slaver caravans being ambushed and the slavers murdered. A new table quest will appear to set Leliana and her spy network to work picking up the trail. Several small table missions will ultimately lead to a tip where they may strike next at which point the Inquisitor may choose to Josephine to send a courier to meet them or Cullen who will reluctantly attempt to stop further bloodshed. The latter will result in disapproval from Orana, but either will wrap-up the questline. Upon completion, you are rewarded with a brief and vaguely threatening letter to take care good of Orana, as well as a personal letter for her. (This quest must be completed before Orana will be accessible as a party member.)
Quest 2: Deep in the Weeds Sometime after arriving in Skyhold, Orana she can be overheard speaking to Krem in the tavern about ingredients for a potion- she’s having trouble finding seeds or starters of a necessary pair of herbs to plant in Skyhold’s gardens. Neither the requisitions officer, nor Skyhold’s surgeon will have any or be able to tell you their purpose or location, but both will suggest checking with Vivienne. Vivienne does indeed know where to find them and will direct you to the Hissing Wastes and Emerald Graves. The Inquisitor can choose to reveal who they are for or keep the information to themselves. (Discretion will earn some extra approval from both Orana and Varric.) Upon delivery, Orana will express her surprise and delight, before becoming concerned and suspicious of the Inquisitor’s motives. If approval is high enough, Orana will confide that the herbs are the last ingredients in a potion she takes to “look like herself.”
Quest 3: Needle & Thread After arriving in Skyhold, a new table mission will appear. Orana suggests as a less famous and elven member of your Inner Circle she may be able to slip about the party at the Winter Palace unnoticed. Josephine or Leliana may use their contacts to find out what the palace servants will be wearing for the evening. Travel to Val Royeaux with Orana to pick up the necessary fabrics and meet with a forger who can make a convincing mask to pass her off as one of Celene’s servants. Orana will be tucked away against a pillar eavesdropping during the ball, and available as an alternate party member to temporarily swap out with any of your chosen three to take with you to explore the rest of the palace. Taking Orana with you will result in additional banter as well as the ability to unlock hidden doors and chests regardless of whether or not the player has the“deft hands” perk.
Quest 4: Tevinter Alchemy
If “Deep in the Weeds” was never completed, Orana can be found early into Trespasser arguing with Dorian about plans to return to Tevinter, “with or without his approval or help.” Unable to find or make the potion she’s come to rely on, the elf has begun searching for other means and intends to seek the help of blood magic to make the changes in her body permanent to reflect her gender. While difficult, without completing “Deep in the Weeds”, it is not impossible to have high enough approval to side with Dorian and successfully dissuade her from this plan. Failing this check will not automatically fail and close the quest, but open up a side-quest to find out more about the procedure Orana is looking into. Several books hidden around the grounds will confirm that it may be possible, but the spells come with great sacrifice and a significant amount of risk. The Inquisitor can hand this information over to Dorian to help him convince Orana not to go through with it, or give the information to Orana themselves whereupon she will ask for their opinion again. If the Inquisitor is in a romance with Orana and suggests going through with her plan she will break things off with them. “In case things don’t go right.” Telling Orana to go through with the plan will result in great disapproval from Dorian and Varric, and slight disapproval from Orana.
~Approval~
How to get their approval: Declaring the Inquisition’s purpose to be to restore peace and order, supporting Varric and Dorian, any of the more creative/ironic but well-deserved judgements (Avaar dispatched to Tevinter, servitude to the mages for Alexius, etc), choosing to dedicate/expand the Skyhold Gardens to grow plants and the courtyard to healing, Saving Hawke from the Fade
How to get their disapproval: Choosing Cullen for “Follow the Bloodtrail”, Lying to bring Dorian to meet his father, taking Cassandra’s side in her argument with Varric, Telling Cullen to resume taking Lyrium, leaving Hawke in the Fade, Putting Gaspard on the throne (without Briala’s influence) Are they romanceable? Yes, with any male character. Can you have sex with them? Yes, but only after completing her “Deep in the Weeds” quest, which will only become available to Inquisitors with high approval. Romance up to that point is generally a very slow burn. If they can be romanced and are not, will they begin a relationship / relationships with other character(s)? If so, who? Yes. Orana will embark on a relationship with Cullen if neither are romanced by the Inquisitor. She will have a queerplatonic relationship with Dorian regardless of hers or other’s romance status. Who are they friendly with? Dorian, Varric, & Cole Who do they dislike? Vivienne, although she’d never do anything to suggest or say so. Vivienne is clearly in this for herself as much as anything, and Orana is distrustful of anyone that’s such a formidable player of the Game. Cole’s readings: “Kit. Young, small, quiet. Heart much larger and loud. They think her soft, but they forget her teeth.”
On her gender/past: “Skin knitted together long ago, but the wounds won’t scar. Scars don’t hurt. A fiercely fought and silent battle of one.”
On a budding romance: “Quiet and quick. Slipping in, out, and between like water through fingers. Better, useful, this way. Too many secrets to keep. But she thinks she might like being seen, to be held.”
On locked-in romance: “She wanted to be seen as she wished to be, but he sees her as she is. Helps her see it too. She was never wrong, the mirror was.”
~Companion card~ Starting card: A three-quarter’s view of a hooded, plainly dressed Orana climbing a hill and looking over her shoulder, hand on the dagger hilt at her hip
Loyalty: Side-view of Orana crouched behind a wall with a hand poised to draw one of her dual-blades from her back.
Romance: Straight-on view of Orana in a simple dress collecting a basket of Daffodils from a garden
~Side quests~
When nearing a hidden item: “Should we poke around a bit?” When seeing a high dragon: “Well… shit. That’s probably not good.”
“Festis bei umo canavarum. We’re going to fight that thing, I suppose?”
Low health: “Anyone have extra potions?”
“Venhedis! This is going to be so hard to clean later.”
The Inquisitor falls: “No! No, get up. We’ve still got work to do.”
“Hang on, we’re all getting out of here!”
~Greetings/goodbyes~ Low approval: *Nods*
“The Herald with free time? And I thought the hole in the sky was strange.”
“Herald.”
Neutral approval: “Hello. Something I can do for you?”
“Good day, then.”
Friendly: “Come back for more gossip?”
“Greetings.”
“Banavis fedari, my friend.”
Romanced: “Best part of my day, seeing you.”
“So, we’ll talk later. Yes?”
“Perhaps we could share dinner later, Amatus?”
Opinions on mages / templars / how the world is going to shit? Orana sees good and bad on both sides of the war. She’s sympathetic to the mages in the South, specifically those in Circles who simply want their freedom. She can, however, see some sense in Templars- at least in principle- to protect the mages and others from demons, but believes they’ve lost their way. She advocates helping the mages in Redcliffe first, and will greatly disapprove if the Inquisitor meets with Dorian, but decides to seek out the Templars instead. Orana sees the war as a long time coming, she just wants to get herself and those she cares about safely through it, to a hopefully brighter and more peaceful future on the other side.
Something guaranteed to make them leave the party: Dorian leaving the Inquisition, or leaving Hawke in the Fade (with neutral/low approval)
~The Fade~ How they react: (If they went w/ Hawke in “Night Terrors”): *weary sigh, shaking head* “I had really hoped not to come back here.”
“Fasta vass! This can’t possibly be good. We can get out here, right?”
Their Tombstone: Rejection
What the Fears look like: Herself trapped in her masculine body, or her loved ones rebuking and leaving her.
What the Nightmare says: “Ah Orana. So fierce. So brave. So desperate to prove your worth. So terrified of your own reflection. You think your new friends will stick by you? They’ll see it eventually.”
Hawke or Warden: If you leave Hawke in the Fade with only moderate or low approval, Orana will leave to deliver Varric’s letters personally, sighting that it’s too difficult to remain and she will find other ways in which to help the cause. If you have high approval prior to leaving Hawke in the Fade, she will greatly disapprove, expressing that she is staying to keep an eye on Varric.
The Wardens, Exile or Allies? Orana advocates rebuilding the Wardens. Better to have the ace up your sleeve should another Blight come around.
~Halamshiral~ Where they linger: The edges of the Ballroom. Orana is frequently mistaken for one of the serving elves, but will sometimes go so far as to serve drinks in order to make herself invisible. Her mastery of several languages and unobtrusive manner mean that she can pick up all sorts of secrets Leliana and the Inquisition can put to good use. Are they good at the Game?: She is good at the part she plays within it, as a fly on the wall, but will never be a master at it. Apart from keeping her past well-guarded, Orana generally dislikes lying. She is exceedingly good at spotting lies/inconsistencies and collecting secrets and finding the best person to deliver them to. She’s incredibly good at rooting out other’s tells when it comes to playing Wicked Grace.
What people say about them: “Can’t see what all the fuss is about. Rather ordinary, isn’t she?”
“Those clothes… Well above her station. And she does know we’re fighting Tevinters, doesn’t she? Unfortunate enough that she looks so much like them.”
Gaspard, Briala, or Celene?: Orana will advocate that Celene is killed, and Briala rules through Gaspard, but will reluctantly accept a player’s decision to reunite Celene and Briala (slightly approves).
~Temple of Mythal~ Rituals or Hole?: Orana advocates for respecting tradition. Corypheus and his forces certainly won’t, and it might be dangerous to ignore the rituals. There could be traps for those that try to take shortcuts.
Agree with the Elves’ bargain?: Will disapprove if you won’t ally with them.
Morrigan or Inquisitor for the Well?: Morrigan, though she would have preferred Solas if she’d been able to convince him. She knows she isn’t nearly knowledgeable enough to put what the Well would give her to good use. Even if the Inquisitor is a Lavellan, Orana will express her reluctance they take up the task themselves, believing it to potentially be too great a risk. She will be especially eager to see Morrigan take on the job if in a romance with the Inquisitor.
~Trespasser~
If neither she nor Cullen were romanced and “Deep in the Weeds” was completed, stray dialogue with either will reveal the pair were quietly married. End slides will say that they are making plans with Mia to visit Cullen’s family soon.
If “Deep in the Weeds” was not completed, Orana can be heard arguing with Dorian about her plans to return to Tevinter. “Tevinter Alchemy” quest then becomes available.
If the Inquisitor convinces a romanced Orana to go back to Tevinter at the conclusion of “Tevinter Alchemy” or fails to complete the quest, she will end the relationship.

How to Create a Perfect Balloons Arch for Your Kid's Birthday?
One of the best-kept secrets of party decorators is how to make a balloon arch. This arch is hugely popular and goes really well with all party themes, including star wars kid's party theme and so on. It can add a majestic appearance to any party venue and make it look grand. In this blog post, we will go through the step-by-step process of creating a balloon arch.
WHAT MATERIALS ARE REQUIRED FOR MAKING A BALLOON ARCH?
The first step involves arranging every product used in creating this balloon arch. First, an electric hand pump will be required, followed by scissors, fishing wires, balloons, garland, and some tape.
HOW MANY BALLOONS ARE REQUIRED FOR KIDS PARTY BALLOON ARCH?
For a standard sized balloon arch or garland, you will require balloons of different sizes. If you purchase a kit, make sure it has two dimensions, 11 inches and 5 inches. Vendors of the party invite Sydney, and mega loons say that the greater variety of sizes, the more exciting this arch would look. For example - if you want a rainbow balloon arch, you will require 78 balloons with 30 balloons of 5 inches and 48 balloons of 11 inches.
INFLATE YOUR BALLOONS
Now it's time to inflate your balloons using the hand electric pump and keep colours separated to make further steps more manageable. You can experiment with different ways to inflate these balloons, and under-inflating will keep them round in shape. This shape will allow you to give a different look, and while using under-inflated balloons, make sure you avoid a teardrop shape.
GETTING THE RIGHT COLOUR PALETTE
If you are trying something different, generated out of your mind, it is important to get the right colour palette. It is quite possible that you will not be aware of what colours work best, and in this situation, Instagram ideas and Pinterest posts can be really beneficial. You can use high shine, pastel, satin, metallic, pearl, neon, holographic, chrome, reflex, and highly reflective balloons to make your arch more attractive and appealing.
BUILDING A BALLOON ARCH
Now that the balloons are inflated, the primary step starts, i.e. building the balloon arch. By using the balloon tape, you can skip tying the balloons together. You will have to leave about 30 cm of tape before starting and then pull the balloon not to every third hole. This will give it a look of a less clustered row of balloons. You can keep doing this to create a balloon garland or an arch, and then a fishing wire can also be used to create a length. However, for a specific pattern like a rainbow or ombre, you can leave out your balloons first and give them the proper order before beginning.

Squirreltail - brown tom with darker points and white stripe from head to back
Family: unknown mother, Sablewhisker (assumed father), Fernshade (adoptive mother) Gender / Sexuality: tom / gay Personality: insomniac, but also just always seems to be just about to go to bed but gets distracted, you always hear him like “i was going to go nap for a few, but sure i can…”, doesnt want to inconvenience anyone Backstory: When Sablewhisker arrived in camp late one night with a kit hanging from his jaws, Fernshade asked no questions and cared for the poor shivering little thing. When questioned Sablewhisker said he could not reveal any details other than it was his kin. It was revealed during Squirreltail’s apprenticeship under Sablewhisker’s mentor’s kit, Mistystorm, that his mother was a Thrushclan shecat who had her eyes on a seniority position and she couldnt risk down time raising a kit. Now Squirreltail knows his mother was the late deputy of Thrushclan, Mudfur. The tom feels no loyalty to Thrushclan, and bonded with his adoptive mother as a kit. He’s loyal to his clan, and loves leading the dusk or moonhigh patrols, he loves walking in the shadows of darkness, especially on darker nights. Rarely chosen for gatherings, Squirreltail spends new moons running around the territory, feeling free. Smart, clever and a skilled hunter and tracker, Squirreltail is a solid hunter, often leading parties and helping train apprentices. Hes a good slightly above average warrior, mentored by the next deputy of the clan, so senior warriors often carry respect for him despite his bloodline. Ideal Partner: someone who trained with him, his mentors kid, another kid of Tigerprowl, he was kind of a stud so, maybe his dads apprentice would be fun too Position | Clan: Warrior | Frostclan
Grizzlycub - fluffy white tom with brown patches and points
Family: Unknown, assumed relation to Teddy or Bear Gender / Sexuality: tom / bisexual Personality: honest, loyal, trustworthy even though his clan doesnt think so Backstory: Found as a sickly kit by loners Teddy and Bear, the two Tom’s turned the kit into Frostclan for care, since they always need fresh blood and warriors. Raised from around four moons, named Grizzlypaw, as a nod to his rescuers, Grizzlycub earned his warrior name rather fast. Mentored by Snowystar right before he becomes leader, Grizzlycub is a young warrior hopeful a queen will trust him enough to let him mentor one of their kits. Despite knowing no other life than clan life, many in his clan dont trust his kittypet blood. Its obvious from his purebred pelt that he’s a special kittypet, and Grizzlycub never denied it. All he knows is he can follow the warrior code and live a good life, and they can all sort it out with Starclan when the time comes. Ideal Partner: the medicine cat who swoons over this cutie, the leaders kit, a queen who has kits he wants to mentor, the new deputy who helps assign mentors Position | Clan: Warrior | Frostclan
