Thoughts on Marvin Lore - part 7

An excerpt from ancient historical texts of Mars, specifically with regard to the advancement of medicine.

Fertility parasite--an alien organism that attaches itself to the host to make use of their reproductive system (adding features as needed, using the host's genome to reverse engineer what's missing) and begins replicating. It's a largely consensual process--though it's difficult for the organism to get consent before attaching, as it does not possess the ability to vocalize. Once it's attached, it can tap into the nervous system to read and send signals for communication. If the host is unwilling to participate in reproduction, the organism refrains, absorbs some nutrients, provides a biological service (added immunity to certain illnesses, temporary anti-cancer benefits, balancing the microbiome) and then separates within 30-50 cycles with no harm or inconvenience to the host. A few thousand years of this and before you know it, like the mitochondria, the 'parasite' becomes part of the host, and they end up as one being. Now you know where all that gender fluid comes from.

A short one-shot I’ve decided to write, where JBM is Trans, Marvin is Gender Fluid and they both finally decided to come out to each other! Also posted here, on AO3!

Jackie just couldn't make up his mind. He kept picking up his phone only to set it down a second later, shaking in fear. He really wanted to text Marvin, but he just didn't know how to start a conversation... and he wasn't even sure if he'd rather talk over the phone or in person. Only after over half an hour of this struggle, his phone vibrated. He hesitantly picked it up and looked at the screen, seeing a new message from Marvin just pop up.

[Can we meet?] it said. Before Jackie could collect himself and respond, another text came. [I need to tell you something]

Jackie took a deep breath. Great. Did he do something wrong? What if Marvin already knew? How serious was it? Oh no, oh no, oh no...

[Yeah sure] he texted back. He didn't have to wait for an answer for too long.

[Great! 4 pm by the park is okay with you?] Marvin texted. Jackie glanced up at the clock, he had 10 minutes.

[Yep! See you there, Ily!] he texted back.

[Love you too] came an answer. ...So maybe it wasn't that bad?

With that, Jackie set down the phone, walked over to his closet, and looked through it. He thought for a moment before deciding that he should actually put on his binder for the occasion. And so he did, throwing his favorite red hoodie over it and hiding his hair in the hood. It was quite hot outside, but this would not stop him from looking like he wanted to. Having only a couple of minutes left until 4 pm, he quickly left the house and rushed to the park. Luckily, he lived close to it, so he got there just in time. He stopped by the gate and looked around, soon enough spotting Marvin near. He waved his hand and walked over to them.

"Hi, Marv!" he greeted when he got close enough, doing his best to hide how nervous he was.

"Hey, sweetheart. You look great today," they answered. Jackie laughed quietly.

"Thanks... So, you wanted to tell me something?" he reminded. Marvin tensed up before nodding.

"Yeah, but... can we walk first? I'll be honest, I'm kinda nervous," they admitted. Jackie quickly nodded.

"Oh, sure! Totally! Yeah!" he agreed. Marvin chuckled at his quick reaction before starting to walk, trying to find the right words to start. Then, they suddenly looked Jackie over.

"...Is this a new hoodie?" they asked with a small frown. Jackie looked down at his clothes before shaking his head.

"Nope. It's the usual one, why?" he answered. Marvin hesitated for a moment.

"I don't know, it just looks... different?" they answered. That's when Jackie realized, his chest looked different with the binder on, so... Oh.

"I'm not sure why..." he muttered, hoping that they'd believe him.

"Alright, then. And aren't you hot in it?" they asked with a bit of concern.

"Nope, I'm alright," Jackie answered. When he was met by silence, he decided to try to keep the conversation going. Except, he almost couldn't think with how stressed he was becoming, so he managed to find only one question. "By the way, what's your opinion on LGBTQ+?" he asked before even realizing what he was saying.

"...What do you mean?" Marvin asked, visibly confused. Jackie hesitated before realizing that there was no way back.

"I mean, uh... you're okay with it, right?" he asked. Real smooth... Marvin chuckled, looking at him with a sweet smile.

"Love... I told you I'm Ace, right?" they reminded him. They were sure they did. And for a moment, they wanted to add something else, but they stopped at the last moment.

"Oh! R-right!" Jackie gasped, face-palming. How could he forget? "Well... I need to tell you something, then," he announced. That alone got Marvin's full attention.

"What is it, J-" they tried to ask, but Jackie stopped them by raising his hand before they could use his deadname.

"Yeah, it's... I'm not really..." he tried to explain, but was at a loss of words. Marvin put a hand on his shoulder.

"Go ahead. You know you can tell me anything, right?" they reminded. Jackie nodded, taking a deep breath.

"Yeah, I- I know. So... I... I'm not actually a... girl...?" he announced. This visibly surprised Marvin, making them tilt their head in confusion.

"...What do you mean?" they asked. Jackie took another deep breath and glanced around to make sure no one else would hear.

"I'm... I'm Trans," he managed to say, closing his eyes and waiting for the worst. After a moment, he felt Marvin cup his cheeks.

"That's... love, that's amazing!" they said. Jackie quickly looked at them, surprised to see a loving smile on their face.

"Are you... is that... okay with you?" he asked nervously. Marvin seemed surprised that he'd even ask that.

"What? Of course! I... I love you so, so much... What should I call you?" they asked him. Jackie felt a giant wave of relief wash over him upon hearing that.

"I- J-Jackie, please?" he answered. Marvin nodded with a smile on their face.

"That's a lovely name, Jackie. Thank you for telling me," they said. Not able to hold back anymore, Jackie rushed forward and hugged them tightly.

"T-thank you s-so much..." he choked out, holding back tears. Marvin hugged him back, gently rocking him to the sides and giving him all the time he'd ever need.

"Of course, love," they answered. When Jackie finally pulled away with a smile, they realized that this was a perfect moment for them to come out as well. "I actually have something to tell you about myself too, you know?" they said. Jackie looked at them with curiosity.

"What is it?" he asked, wiping away whatever was left of tears in the corners of his eyes.

"I... I thought about it for some time and I... I don't think I'm cis either...?" they said with hesitation. Jackie looked up at them with a surprised expression. "A-actually, I'm sure I'm not. I... I concluded that I'm... Gender Fluid," they announced. Jackie couldn't help but gasp.

"Really? That's awesome!" he cheered, bouncing a bit. Marvin felt just as much relief as Jackie did a moment earlier.

"...We can still be together, right?" they asked, just to be sure. Jackie nodded quickly.

"Yeah, of course! Of course! I- I love you so much, nothing can change that!" he reassured. Marvin smiled, relaxing.

"I love you too, Jackie," they said, pulling him into a hug again. Except this time, they were the one who needed it.

"So..." Jackie started, still holding them close. "What pronouns should I use for you? And, do you want me to call you a different name?" he asked. Marvin needed a moment to get themself together before they could answer.

"A-any are fine, but... they and them, for now? And... I'm fine with Marvin most of the time, just... could you call me M...Mary sometimes? When I feel female...?" they requested. Jackie quickly nodded.

"Yeah, of course! That sounds great!" he agreed without hesitation. Marvin leaned on him a bit upon hearing his answer.

"Thank you so, so much... this means the world to me," they said, still refusing to pull away from the hug. Jackie carefully rubbed their back.

"...Thank you for telling me," he answered, doing his best to not cry over how amazing everything was.

They both stayed like that for quite a moment, just hugging each other tightly while standing on the side of the sidewalk in their favorite park, taking this amazing moment in. They could still remember how afraid they both were about this conversation even 20 minutes earlier, but it just went so great... this was amazing. They could be themselves and still date the one they loved... This was more than perfect. And a hug never felt more warm and safe before... it was hard to believe that everything that just happened was even real. But it somehow was...

"H-hey, can we go to a hairdresser?" Jackie asked eventually, when he finally pulled away. He gestured to his long hair hidden in his hood. "Because I might need a haircut..." he chuckled nervously. Marvin quickly nodded.

"Yeah, of course. There's a place nearby, I think?" they answered, taking Jackie's hand to lead him. "Do you want to go buy some new clothes after that? I could use some, too..." they asked. Jackie nodded after a moment of hesitation.

"Sure, Mar," he answered, shortening the nickname "Marv" even one letter more. Marvin's face lit up upon hearing the new version. "Mar" just worked for both Marvin and Mary, it was... perfect.

"...I love you so much," they said, leading Jackie towards the way out of the park.

"I love you more," he chuckled, squeezing their hand gently. And soon enough, they squeezed back, both of them hoping that they'll never have to let go.

...Could that day even get any better?

Okay since Ash literally has a rage meter I’m pretty sure that she has some anger issues which I heavily relate to because I have anger issues too.

If you notice I have been referring to Ash as he/him, she/her, and they/them because as soon as I saw them I said “GENDER FLUID” so yeah :)

I also get major Marvin the Martian vibes from her. I think its the eyes.

I feel like Ash and Gale would be good friends and Ash would absolutely RANT to Gale about all the trash people leave around the park and Gale would be all like “Yes I see” “Mmm” “Oh my”.

He’s also a huge animal lover especially to rats and mice. He LOVES his R.A.T.S. bots to death and makes sure they live their best lives. He’s a really good pet owner :)

Marvin headcannons

(Just an FYI: I have not read any of the comic books cause I can't afford-she broke-so this is nothing with or related to the comics)

•His father is French and the mother is American. Marvin knows how to speak French pretty well-even if they don't look like it

•Marvin is Gender-fluid- usually one could tell based on what she wears or simply asking them

• Has always loved the fashion industry and soon became a clothing style maker. Having made a clothing line that got him very well known.

• Acts like a mom sometimes towards the others. They're very caring for those that are close to them and will work on protecting them with all their might.

• Has also practiced magic for years now. While she doesn't use it as much, it does come in handy every once in a while.

• When they were young, they would always play dress up with their two sisters, one older and one younger sister.

•Marvin did get bullied at one point, but those kids mysteriously disappeared after a while, no one but Marvin knows what happened to them-and he refuses to ever talk about it.

• Marvin learned magic when he was around 16 years old. His family is basically a family of wizards and witches-so all his family members know and learned magic and passed it down to family members.

Personality: Firey and rambunctious at times. Super energetic. Very nice, somewhat brave. Very logical. Silly sometimes. Is serious when he needs to be.

Very short tempered. Will run away when things look bad. Becomes cowardly if something is wrong. Over confidence, gets too cocky. Reckless.

Jackie is 27 years old.

He is best friends with Chase. He also provides emotional support and cares about everyone. He loves sharing positivity with people. He is scared of people who eat kit kats incorrectly.

Jackie's fulltime job is fixing computers. He lives in a house near chase's apartment and loves superhero comics. His best friend is chase (platonic relationship) he is constantly getting hurt fighting small "villains" in the city he lives in, causing henrick to get stressed. Jbm and henrick don't hate each other and I don't understand why people think that. They both have a high alcohol tolerance. Jbm prefers whiskey.

Jbm doesn't have alot of gear, in fact his superhero clothes are just a red hoodie a white shirt, blue mask, special boots and gloves.

Jbm is trained in 2 different martial arts, Ti-kwan-do & kungfu. He's really good at fighting with his bo-staff. He likes the staff because he can't stand to see blood unless its his own.  He's really tough but really sweet too.

He has super speed & super strength

Jbm helps chase pay his rent and sometimes buys groceries for him when he needs it most.

He needs to drink coffee in order for his powers to work, and he can't move faster than the average speed of a car.

Chase and Jackie live together in the same house.

Marvin is asexual and gender fluid. He has long hair and likes to have it pulled back in a braid. He is best friends with Jameson Jackson. Jay will go dress shopping with Marvin, and sometimes buys Marvin jewelry as gifts.

His personality is

Intelligent, analytical, meticulous, optimistic. Friendly and socialable.

Marvin is  Afraid of water, overly judgemental of himself. Moderately discouraged. Low self esteem

He is 28 years old and runs a magic store.

Marvin is 5 feet 7 inches tall.

He is the third smartest ego.

Marvin is also friends with Robbie, and Chase

Marvin used to be jealous of Jackie, the two would fight sometimes. Marvin felt unloved and was angry with all the attention Jackie would receive from the other egos. He wanted to be as successful as Jackie was. Eventually at Marvin's birthday party, Jackie admitted his appreciation for Marvin and apologized about their fighting. The two have been friends since and are willing to fight each other. Their last conflict was Corrupted Jackie trying to capture Marvin, which resulted in Marvin trying to save his friend so much that Marvin passed out from exhaustion. In a dramatic turn of events Jackie's corruption wore off as he held Marvin in his arms begging him to wake up. Marvin woke up and they held eachother in a warm embrace.

Marvin loves green magic(Nature magic) and hides the 2 small scars on his face, which is why he wears the cat mask. The scars look like little cat whiskers.

  He knows magic is real, but he is often accused of being a scandel due to common skeptics. He can create potions using different chemicals and compounds.

Sometimes he likes to try new outfits but dislikes anything that looks too flashy.

His favorite alcohol is normally vodka, wine, or a light beer. His greatest fear is being abandoned. He secretly owns a pet turtle named shelly, but he's too embarrassed to tell anyone about it. Only Jackie knows about his pet turtle and has promised not to tell anyone about it. Jackie admitted to Marvin that he owns a pet fish.

His closest friends are Jameson, Robbie, and Jbm.  His favorite card game is uno. Marvin is afraid of cucumbers, and likes the softness of yarn. He holds a ball or yarn when he gets too stressed. He sometimes feels misunderstood.  Using  Nature magic, he can temporarily turn into a white tabby cat with the card symbols from his mask appearing on his forehead.

He can also do things like:

-Earth bend

-control fire and lightning

-make vines with his hands

-Make force fields

-Control the weather

-Fly but without wings

His emotions control his magic, and this will happen unintentionally.

Marvin likes collecting gem stones, essential oils, hiking, gardening, flowers, the sound of rain, and the animals who live in the forest. He lives in a log cabin. He will sing to forest animals.

Marvin is a calm guy but he can get easily angered and over protective.

Marvin's favorite eye shadow colors to wear underneath his mask are blue and pink. Sometimes a light green. If he's wearing his mask he'll definitely be wearing eyeliner. He wears high heels around the house when the egos aren't home. Sometimes he'll wear flowers in his hair. He's very fashionable but doesn't brag about it.

i havent really said this (???) but both marvin and pseudo have changed their genders throughout their time on earth. gender isn’t non existent to the celestials, so when the male or female binary becomes uncomfortable for the twins, they’ll change it! pseudo is more fluid with his gender but usually marv and anti will change theirs at the same time since they’re so connected with one another. (my favorite so far is 1918 to 1954, where pseudo was Anabelle, and marvin was Yvette. both female presenting!)

the twins have never identified as any of the gender bianaries we have today, and only change their appearances with gender when the bodies they present with become uncomfortable, old, or boring. marv and pseudo right now still do not identify with the male gender, and both of them are comfortable with all pronouns. they just use he/him bc that’s what other people put onto them bc of how they look, but, they don’t mind either way :3
