Help Me Out
I'm thinking of updating the font I usually use for text in my work.
I really, REALLY like Cardboard Cat, but the license is only free for personal use, so I can't actually sell anything that uses it. Not that I have or am currently planning to sell anything with it. I just thought it'd be a good idea to pivot over to a new 100% free font in the event that that does happen, so I won't have any problems later.
Personally, I'm pretty partial to Cat Comic and the Milky fonts, but I'd like to hear what y'all think too.
#gbunny polls#i think the milky fonts look better next to my cutesy style (mania is probably slightly better since it's not as thick)#but cat comic is easier for me to read due to the sharp edges#if you're wondering where the quote is from#it's a line from a scrapped DSYNC B-Side comic where Kerinting is trying to think of what his marketable skills are#i just needed something that included numbers because sometimes the numbers can look really different from the letters in certain fonts#and i just chose this comic because it's one of the first documents in my files with actual dialogue in it#so you can see the fonts next to my art

“Charm Point” - Scrapped Comic
A comic about White’s self-consciousness about being the “generic” one.
I don’t like this posing too much in this one, so I wound up forgetting about it.
#gbunny draws#gbunny scraps#no straight roads#nsr#white 1010#neon j#originally i thought of it as an antenna#but i think it's funnier if it's basically useless but is still important to his design

Today's NSR Trivia: 1010's Pitch (Scrapped/Incorrect)
Although all 1010 members have the exact same speaking voice, when singing their "Stifled!" line, Green has the lowest pitch, Red and Blue have the same pitch, and Yellow has the highest pitch.
Speculation below the cut.
In classical terms, this likely means that in proper songs, Green would be baritone, Red & Blue are tenor, and Yellow is countertenor. Since White rarely sings his parts, it's hard to place him, but since he usually leads with a deeper voice than the rest, he could be the bass in proper songs.
However, that's just theoretical. Since they all literally have the same voice, they would all have the exact same vocal range. Though, I personally doubt that they would have seen so much success if there wasn't some variance in their tone during songs.
#nsr#in my headcanon white and red are tenor#and blue is bass#yellow and green are the same: countertenor and baritone respectively#gbunny scraps#i scrapped this because it's not technically accurate#you can hear them all speaking at once for every 'stifled'#so the different tonalities likely aren't being attributed to their respective 1010#but i still think it's neat so y'all can take it anyway

Various Scraps
1) “Hijack” I feel like I’ve posted this before, but it’s not in my sketches folder, so I guess not. Anyway, this is kind of an explaination for why Neon J. is the one to take back the Metro Division instead of 1010. I figure since they’re robots, they might have gotten hijacked with the rest of the NSR bots. Their “hacked” color is hot pink to reference the box-art, where NJ and the 1010s’ eyes are pink while Kliff looms over them.
2) “This is the thanks I get for working overtime.” Songebob joke. I’m surprised literally no one’s done this, or if they have, I haven’t seen it. This is super old, but I never finished it because I was unsatisfied with how it was turning out.
3) “Manwh*re” This was a part of the extension of the “child support” comic from that one shitpost (the same shitpost the above screenshot is from). There’s a little more to it than just this panel, but as I explained in that post, I scrapped the rest of that comic because I didn’t want to dwell on a one-shot shitpost that long. Here’s the rest of script from the beginning.
Neon J.: Oh boys, why am I such a shipwreck?
White: It’s alright, Captain. We think it’s fine that you’re a total manwhore.
Neon J: You’re only saying that because you’re programmed to.
White: Yes. *smiles*
Neon J: *stares*
[Neon J. opens up White’s chest door revealing a big red button. He smashes it with his fist. The self-destruction timer starts.]
White: Father, why?
Neon J: Sometimes you just need to shut your mouth, boy.
[White explodes]
4) “Top 30 reasons why Kliff is sorry. Number 5 might surprise you./ Top 30 anime deaths. Number 1: Your fucking ass right now.” Sonic real-time fandub joke. Self explanatory.
5) Not really a comic, but a personality alignment chart. The closer they are from the center on the y-axis doesn’t mean they’re neither “hot or cold” but more like they’re prone to switching. For example, Tatiana who is right on the line is “cool” most of the time, but she’s more than capable of being a “wildfire” if pushed. Same goes for other characters on the line.

Hm.
I think one of Kliff’s worst qualities as the “number 1 fan” is that he really doesn’t “geek out” that much.
Call it cliché, but I feel like if you’re gonna have a character that’s a self-proclaimed "biggest fan”, then you’ve gotta show them geeking out at least once. Kliff doesn’t *really* have a scene like that. We kinda get that when he’s reminiscing about Kul Fyra to Mayday after she properly geeks out, but Kliff’s whole lecture really isn’t a geek out so much as it is recalling fond memories. It’s just too sentimental to sell the idea that he’s as obsessive as he turns out being.
I get that he’s supposed to be “mature” or whatever to contrast with the “childish” Mayday, or how maybe he’s trying really hard to repress that side of his personality, but I think just one or two “cracks in the facade” would have done a lot for his character. Something like B2J making an off-hand comment and he starts fangasaming about it, but he stops mid-sentence when he realizes what he’s doing. Ya know, little moments like that.
Like, the dude doesn’t even have a single band sticker on his tablet, and you want me to believe that he’s such a big fan of rock that he helped orchestrate the takeover of an entire city?
#nsr#kliff#i still say that one of my favorite scenes is mayday fangasaming about kul fyra to kliff for like a solid minute and him just saying Yeap.#but i think it would have done a lot for his character if he replied with his own fangasm in return#to really show that they're kindered spirits#and just have it hurt all the more when he betrays them#i know that the writer was specifically trying to avoid that kind of scenario#where you developed positive feelings towards the twist antagonist#but he went too far in the opposite direction and made him just a little too unlikeable#i defend kliff as a person a lot#but as a character (which is to say: 'a tool of storytelling') he's kinda weak#weaker than he should be as the true antagonist#gbunny scraps#yet another kliff essay

Hm.
I am thoroughly convinced that the reason most people make DJSS taller than NJ is because they’re referencing the “chalk doodle” from the credits, where the DJ is drawn taller than NJ, even though in-game DJSS is probably the shortest adult in the main cast.
#i mean it doesn't help that DJSS is canonically a sizeshifter#so he could theoretically be any size#so both are technically canon#my preference is towards a shorter DJ though#because i think it's more ironic#if he's short with a big ego#like i think that's the joke ya know?#plus kliff/tati is already my big tall and lanky small ship for this fandom#i like a little variety#gbunny scraps#nsr

A Weird Thing to Pick Up On (Scrapped)
I think that it's kinda interesting that despite having an American accent, Kliff actually uses British English.
It’s an unvoiced line, but when commenting on 1010's music, he calls it "rubbish," which is rarely used in American English. In American English, we would say "trash" or "garbage", or in the context of the quote, he would say “it sucks”. I'm pretty sure that most countries where English is taught as a second language, they teach British English, so this being a Malaysian work would likely use British English in most cases.
However, whether this is intentional or an oversight, this has the side effect of implying that despite his accent, Kliff isn't American.
So my question is, is Kliff supposed to be Malaysian like the rest of the main cast, or is he something else?
His VA is American, but in voice acting, the race/nationality of the actor doesn’t always inform the character that they’re playing. Notably the main cast is primarily Malaysian, but canonically the artists are from “all around the world,” so not all of them may share their race with their VA, and this may apply to the supporting cast as well.
I always assumed that he was native to Vinyl City given his history in it, but that doesn't actually speak for his heritage. He might be a first gen Malaysian from American parents. He could be mixed race and have at least one American parent. It could be that he deliberately tried to erase his natural accent, and it’s become Americanized through practice. Who knows?
#gbunny scraps#nsr#kliff#i guess i'll post non-desynchronized posts too#i still think this is an interesting detail#but i dunno i feel a little uncomfy making assumptions about cultures that i'm not certain of#so this whole post might be baseless

Thinking... (Scrapped)
As much as I like to ship them as bitter exes, I’ve always taken note of how NSR seems to deliberately go out of its way to deny that Kliff’s feelings for Tatiana are romantic in nature. Romantic language is never used between the two and even when Kliff gushes about her, it’s all about her aesthetics: her clothes, her attitude, her music. So with that in mind, what exactly was Kul Fyra to Kliff? What does she represent to him that would drive him to be so crushed and vindictive after they split?
The easy answer is that “he’s just like that”, but I refuse to believe that in a story where even the most shallow of NPCs has some depth to them, that Kliff, the primary antagonist of the story, is the only one that’s so one dimensional. The narrative has already ruled out romance as a motivation, and it’s dubious that they were even friends at any point. It could be that he always saw her as a symbol for his ideals, but he does seem to take it personally that she “went EDM,” and he ultimately says that what matters to him wasn’t the music itself, but Kul Fyra the person. It could be that he’s just trying to get sympathy points by exaggerating, but I think that reading would be inconsistent with how Kliff had been portrayed so far. Kliff lies by omission, not by distortion. The instances where Kliff is untrustworthy is by him not giving all the details:
He doesn’t tell B2J that he knows that Tatiana was Kul Fyra.
He doesn’t hide that he wants B2J to takeover Vinyl City, but he never mentions/considers the negative consequences of them doing so.
There are only 2 instances in which he lies by distortion, and both of them might not even count.
Mayday mentions that his photo doesn’t seem to match with who they meet, but since we never saw this photo, we don’t know in what ways it was different. It doesn’t make sense for it to have been a “catfish” since they met in person almost immediately afterwards, so it’s more likely that the photo refers to a profile picture, and the picture just didn’t reflect what kind of person Kliff was IRL, like a cute animal pic or something.
When B2J are trying to free the districts, he does lie about the bots being not dangerous and encourages them to get closer to their attacks by saying that they’re helpful, but this is in a high-stress situation after all his good will between them was destroyed, so this is arguably out of character.
Even if you want to discredit that Kliff is being sincere in his confrontation with Tatiana, Tatiana does not call him out for lying, so it can be implied then that what he says is true. To counter, it’s possible that she’s just not interested in deconstructing his claims and just cuts straight to the heart of the problem, but she does give that time to Mayday. With that in mind, I feel like it would be reasonable to assume that if there was something to deconstruct, she would have done so in this instance too. Therefore, I think it’s safe to assume that Kliff’s claims can be taken at face value.
I feel like Kliff and Tatiana’s conflict is somewhat supposed to mirror Mayday and Zuke’s conflict, or rather how they resolve it. If you do the Pirate Radio interviews, they reveal that regardless of your personal choices, Mayday will wind up breaking Zuke’s NSR branded drumsticks in protest. Mayday will always feel somewhat guilty about this after the fact and Zuke will forgive her, and they work out their differences on the subject, ultimately proving that despite conflicts, they’re best friends
It partially feeds into my theory that NSR is about different kinds of love, and that Kliff, Tatiana, and Mayday’s love conflict is based around fandom.

Confession
So the idea of the dakimakura is already just really funny to me, but I’ve thought about theoretical Kun3h0 merch that could ever be made (I doubt it’ll ever actually happen), and I think the idea of a Kahon body pillow is really funny.
Like, not the android Kun3h0, but the actual arcade cabinet lying down on a bed.
#the original concept#it was a standing cabinet#but then i had think about the logistics of such a large prototype being made#so i thought about shrinking it#into a tabletop machine#have y'all seen the taito egret II? it's really cool looking#you can pop out thescreen and change the orientation#gbunny scraps#kun3h0

Kun3h0 Facts
I'm bored, so here are some facts about Kun3h0.
It's actually coolant that gives Kun3h0's globes their pink color. If you were to empty them, they'd be clear.
As a robot, she can't eat solid foods, but she can drink to refill her globes.
Her "headphones" are her actual ears: there isn't a "real" ear underneath them.
Her eyes and mouth are actually screens. The right one is broken, so she covers it with her hair. They're backlit, so they also glow in the dark. (The mouth screen can shift out of the way so she can replenish her coolant and change her batteries).
Even though she has functional eyelids, she rarely uses them to blink. They're more for emoting.
The base color of her hair was supposed to be #491e3c, aka "rabbit-ear iris". It's actually a few shades darker though (#3C022D).
The color of her highlights (and other areas) is sometimes referred to as "Strong Boy Pink" (#E9399E).
The device on her hip is a "GAB nano." It's part PDA, part virtual pet. Secretly, it's also her transformation trinket.

*exhale*
I have four different posts in my drafts titled "You're my new favorite guy." because I cannot be normal about these two for more than 5 minutes at a time.
Anyway, they all open like this:
"I really would have liked seeing a more developed friendship between Mayday and Kliff.
On the one hand, I don't think they were *supposed* to be buddy-buddy. He usually refers to B2J as a unit, and any preference Kliff has for addressing Mayday is mostly the result of her being the de facto leader more than any real friendship with her. But, I still feel like developing their relationship would have made the final act a little more impactful."
#nsr#it's in there 4 times because i keep coming at it from different angles#gbunny scraps#i don't think i'm gonna include them in these scrap uploads though#i still wanna work on it#by the time i'm making this post there are now 5 or 6 versions of this in the drafts

So...
How many different versions of White do I have now?
Canonish
Desynchronized/DSYNC (Though, both versions are so different now, they might as well be considered individual versions).
Lost (I've never talked about this one, but he also belongs to the DSYNC AU)
XIO
Tenten (Could be considered "canonish" but I think he uses too many of my headcanons to qualify.)
Yeah... that's too many to be normal.
#favorite robot trope No. 254: When mass-produced robots develop divergent personalities#but this is an odd case because almost none of these Whites co-exist#the exceptions are DSYNC/Lost#and depending on where I decide to take it#Tenten is the origin of all Whites but due to having unique memories is considered a different person#gbunny scraps

1010 Headcanons: Defective Units (Scrapped)
The Factory does not always have 100% accuracy when creating new 1010s, and some "misprints" come through the system. This is a list of common defective 1010s and the proper procedures pertaining to them.
Misstyled hair (1 in 300): This is when the factory does not style a Unit's hair properly. This includes giving the style of one Unit to another, but also includes cases of over-rooting and under-rooting. These errors can usually be fixed post-production by a stylist and does not necessitate completely scrapping the Unit.
Face Swapping (1 in 500): This is when a Unit receives the faceplate of a different Unit. While less common than misstyled hair, a face swap error can also be fixed post-production and does not necessitate scrapping the Unit.
Missing parts (1 in 1000): When any part of the Unit is missing. This can be as minor as missing eyelashes and collars, but can be as egregious as missing entire limbs. A collection of spare parts is available for such occasions, especially for Units with extra accessories, like IC-3 (aka Blue). However, depending on the severity of the pieces missing, these 1010s are scrapped on a case-to-case basis due to the danger they may pose to themselves and others.
Mismatched Limbs (1 in 1500): 1010s can sometimes be constructed with two of the same limb, such as 2 right hands or 2 left feet. 1010s with this error must be immediately scrapped since this can lead to dangerous operations, such as internal combustion due to fuel not running through properly.
Illegal Personality (1 in 5000): This error specifically refers to Units that are loaded with personality values that don't match a pre-approved combination. Units with this error must have their core completely wiped and reloaded with a proper personality core.
#gbunny scraps#nsr#i'm not really done with this one#but i don't really know where to take it#i wanted to draw some examples#but i've been very lazy lately#i dunno if i'm even gonna add this to the directory

Something I Just Started Thinking About
So I *think* it’s canon that Neon J. is actually blind or has some kind of limited vision (it’s still my headcanon either way), so I was just thinking that maybe the reason 1010s hairstyles are so radical is so he can quickly tell them apart.
#nsr#from a design standpoint it's good to give your characters unique silhouettes#and since their bodies are all the same#their head area makes up for the difference#but given what they're based on#their hairstyles should all be kinda similar#but if you couldn't see their colors#and only saw them from the back or side so you couldn't make out their facial features#it'd be hard to tell them apart#but the current 1010s you could probably tell who's who from any angle#as long as you can see them from the neck up#gbunny scraps

Pushing too far?
Now that I've shooed out the minors, I wanna talk about a Desynchronized concept that I've been on the fence about. (That's your hint that this actually discusses adult topics. Specifically about sex and sexuality.)
I've been thinking about the possibility of there being other "lost" 1010s that got left behind, just like Kerinting did. One of the lost ones was a White that got picked up by a massage parlor, and that implies probably anything you're thinking of.
The idea was that besides having Kerinting cement the idea that "copies" are separate entities from each other rather than being extensions of the same entity, since this White got lost before the desynchronization and thus doesn't have any of Desync!White's abusive tendencies, it was also an opportunity to explore the concept of sexuality and how it applies to the 1010s.
The idea that 1010 are sex symbols (I don't think this can be argued) that are physically incapable of actually having sex or desiring it for themselves is intriguing to me, and I believe there are some parallels between that and how it's generally frowned upon for pop idols to have partners for the sake of selling the fantasy.
Story wise, I never really had Kerinting explore his sexuality because he never gets reprogrammed to desire it, and it's not really important to his arc as much as his gender identity is. In fact, there was an early joke that I wrote that 1010s have their definition of "sexy" conflated with "desirable," and they try to be as sexy as possible no matter what the situation is, but they're programmed with a purely scientific understanding of what "sex" is and don't understand that "being sexy" means making people want to have sex with them. Like they know that they're being "provocative" but don't know exactly what feeling they're provoking.
Anyway, I thought that using a different 1010 to explore that might be interesting. So
