RIP REITA of the GazettE

A great Japanese musician and legendary Harajuku style icon has passed away. There was no band more popular with Harajuku visual kei fans of the 2005-2010 era. The famous Jingubashi bridge was full of REITA/GazettE cosplayers every weekend back then. RIP 🖤🖤🖤🖤

When I saw the "important notice" on the GazettE's twitter my heart sank and I expected a disbanding-announcement. But Reita's death... wow... this is just shocking...

Reita's one year is today. All I could remember thinking was "why did it have to be Gazette?? Why did it have to be Gazette????" And Reita of all people....

I had to go to work, and we were doing some insanely insanely fun and cool work that day, so I was really experiencing some insane emotional whiplash of grinning my face off, enjoying the day, and needing to step away into the dark for 10 minutes and sob into my sleeve in silence. Back and forth, rinse and repeat, until lunchtime. I've never in my life had a day like that before, and probably won't again. It was surreal.

We may never be told how or why Reita left us, but in the end it's kind of irrelevant. Gazette pushes on in his name, just as Buck-Tick does in Atsushi's, and we will never forget the sweet boys we've lost while also cherishing sincerely the artists we still have, while we have them.

As Imai said- prepare yourselves, because next time there will only be three of us. And after that two. And then one...but the parade will still go on. Right?

I mean, we're also in it, too, right?

Please rest peacefully, Reita- we've got you covered, until we all meet again at the next live. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🔥

What he meant with „forever“

is probably this incredible view he saw

from the stage in 2023.

I believe he hoped for it to continue forever.

The scenery he saw together with the fans

The joyous faces of his fans

The scenery in which we all could let out our voices together.

This is an irreplaceable treasure

and I believe he wanted this moment to last forever.

I remember how you said that you wanted to do a live soon.

Even now as an adult, he was a kind, passionate man who could speak honestly and say „even if something bad happens, getting together with you and laughing is the most fun“

I loved this/his honesty.

Just like every year, we joked about how we tell each other to take care of our health on our birthdays.

Our band will never be 4 people.

No matter what anyone says.

Because there is no other bassist for us than you.

Because your soul will be always next to me.

Everyone should be able to feel it, even if they don’t see you.

The proof of Reitas life that he built up with the GazettE until now will not disappear, it will continue to live on.

I believe that and I will continue singing by your side

so that your soul can stay by my side.

We wont become a the Gazette that Reita would have disliked/hated.

I don’t want to make you sad.

In this way, I believe that everyone lives within a finite limit but their souls will never disappear.

Reitas soul, the members and mine too.

As well as the fans.

I want to continue giving performances that will make people who have loved me want to come to concerts forever, even if they have become souls.

Therefore, it is through each and every fan that the scenery he wished to remain eternal for can be created.

Thats why we wont change and thats why we

want you to stay at our side and stay there.

He would have preferred us to remember him with a smile saying „he was the best!“

instead of looking at him with a sad face.

More than ever before we are determined

to protect this band.

I will make the „forever“ you hoped for come true.

So don‘t worry and pay us a visit from heaven for every concert.

Your place will always remain here.

We will get very busy from now on.

We will get back when the schedule is decided.
