Can You Recall Orange Cap Winners Of IPL Since The Beginning Of The Tournament? Know About Them All Here

Indian Premier League is not just a tournament it’s a festival for cricket lovers in India. IPL has always brought the best out of the players since the beginning of the tournament. And the fans of the teams always show their best support, which helps the players always do more than their best. The best batsman gets the coveted award of Orange Cap in the IPL. Many players have won this award since the beginning of the tournament through their stellar performance in the tournament.

Here is the list of players who won the Orange Cap since the emergence of IPL: –

IPL 2008

In 2008, at the emergence of the tournament, the explosive batsman Shaun Marsh of Australia made quite an impression. Smashing a century and five half-centuries, he lit up the tournament. Marsh scored with a healthy strike rate of 139.68 and etched his name in the orange cap holders list. His success in IPL etched his place in the national team of Australia for limited-overs the same year.

Shaun Marsh’s stats that session as a Kings XI Punjab player was 616 runs with an average of 66.84.

IPL 2009

In 2009 the IPL moved to South Africa; the condition was best used by the Aussie great Mathew Hayden. He smashed 572 runs in that tournament and he became the second Australian to own that cap.

Mathew Hayden’s stats that session as Chennai Super King player was 572 runs at an average of 52.00.

IPL 2010

In the 2010 edition of the tournament, it was no surprise that Sachin Tendulkar went on to become the first Indian batsman to win the Orange Cap. The year saw Sachin show why he is considered the “God of Cricket” as he piled a staggering 1562 runs in Tests, becoming the highest run-scorer in that calendar year. The maestro also became the first Indian male player to score a double century in ODIs. That year Sachin Tendulkar led his team of Mumbai Indians to the finals, but unfortunately, his team lost to Chennai Super Kings in the finals.

Sachin Tendulkar’s stats that session as the captain of Mumbai Indian was 618 runs at an average of 47.53.

IPL 2011

Chris Gayle joined Royal Challengers Bangalore for the session of 2011. He spent three sessions with KKR and spent very ordinary sessions with KKR. But a change in franchise brought luck for Chris. He went on to become a crowd favorite for his explosive batting style and his power-hitting skill. He went on to score 608 runs from just 12 innings. Scoring two centuries and three half-centuries.

His stat as a Royal Challengers Bangalore player for that session was 608 runs with an average of 67.55.

IPL 2012

For the 2012 edition, it was safe to say that ‘Gaylestorm’ struck twice in the IPL. Chris Gayle was such a brilliant player for the franchise, that he got an advance full contract for the franchise ahead of the season. Gayle was unstoppable that season, he passed the 700-run mark and etched his name in the annals of IPL. Gayle’s power-hitting reached its pinnacle in 2012. Scoring one ton and seven fifties in that season.

Chris Gayle scored 733 runs with an average of 61.08.

IPL 2013

Michael Hussey took the crown away from the ‘Universe Boss’ by 25 runs and won the coveted award at the end of 2013’s session. ‘MrCricket’ showed that age has no bar. He played an instrumental role in helping Chennai’s campaign. Michael Hussey went on to slam six half-centuries in the season.

IPL 2019 SRH vs KXIP Preview Clash of Warner fury and Gaylestorm on cards

IPL 2019 In match 48 of the VIVO Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL 2019), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will host Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday.

Kane Williamson-led SRH are at the fourth spot in IPL 2019 Points Table while R Ashwin's KXIP are at the sixth position. Both Hyderabad and Punjab have lost their previous two matches and have 10 points each from 11 matches respectively.

With playoffs looming, both the teams need to win all their remaining matches to press their chase.
