People who like a certain MLM ship (canon or not doesn't matter) and then proceed to make one of them the "manlier" one (typically the poc one because...somehow they're racist too) and the other one "feminine", and then go out of their way to LITERALLY HATE ANY FEMALE CHARACTER WHO IS TYPICALLY SHIPPED WITH EITHER OF THOSE MEN JUST BECAUSE THEY "get in the way of my otp!!!" need to fucking slit their throats, pour gasoline inside said cut, then glue their fucking head back together and swallow some lit fireworks. How tf can you fetishize gay ppl, be heteronormative, racist AND misogynistic at SAME TIME????

okay hear me out !!
why are most of the bls/gls manhwa are nsfw/smut and some are just literal p*rn without an interesting stroy line whereas, it's completely different when it's straight manhwas??? like do ppl prefer the lgbt+ manhwas be smut without actual story line and romance, just to see same gender ppl fuck??
it's so weird how most of the straight manhwas have such cute teeth rotting romance which can give u butterflies without any smut or wtv just wholesome shit but when u go to read bls/gls there's just manhwas filled w literal p*rn and smut???
is it normal?
also why do ppl love to excuse problematic behavior portrayed in these bl manhwas/dramas?
like most of these bl manhwas have r*pey mls who literally force themselves on the mc despite mc not wanting it and there are ppl excusing this behavior and still supporting the ml like "omg he's so hot" "he's a red flag but i want him 😍" like would u want a guy who's a r*pist? it's not a red flag stop saying shit like that. it's not a red flag it's a fucking crime. it's literally like saying "omg that dude r*ped his colleague? damn he's a red flag 😍" HOW IS THIS OKAY AT ALL??? ARE U SICK IN THE HEAD OH MY GOD??
also there's this one bl drama where the guy is married to a woman but then he falls in love with another man or smth like that idk that drama i haven't seen it but did see one of the scenes from the drama and it was like,
the husband (who's basically the main character) was meeting with the guy he fell in love with (the male lead) and they were kissing or something in the husband's house i think and suddenly his wife comes back and catches them together.
now, what do u think? is there something that u find problematic in that? well let me tell u what i found problematic in that it was the fact that the husband was cheating on his wife. idc if he was in love with another with a man or woman, he had an EXTRA MARITAL AFFAIR while being married to that woman. and you know the comment section was filled with ppl who supported the husband and the lover bc obviously they were the main couple of the drama but nobody gave a fuck about how the wife would've felt? if the man was cheating with another woman everyone would've called him out right? but suddenly their feminism dies when it's boy×boy?
the wife had no reason to get hurt and be dragged in all this mess bc of the main couple. The husband was gay, he should've told the wife that he was gay or smth? idk what y'all think but i think extra marital affairs are problematic and should be called out regardless of the genders involved.
i cannot be the only one feeling all this is problematic right? i cannot be the only one thinking this all is just balant fetishization of gay men? please tell me if i am wrong or if I'm missing any point here that i need to be educated about? and i would prefer it more if only the ppl of LGBT+ community give their opinion or argument on this post because i want to know the honest opinion of those who are actually being targeted by all these bls and all i.e, the gay ppl and lgbt ppl rather than a straight person.
also srry for any spelling mistakes or wtv i can't type for shit 😍😍😍😍

lol, so after posting my comic on twitter, some guy quote retweeted the post and said they "regretted" making comic dubs of it and was going to delete every dub featuring my comic.
I asked them why (though the answer was obvious, considering i usually draw hot girls with big boobs, and this comic featured a gay man with a pup mask) but i wanted to be sure.
They claimed it was because they're no longer a fan of sexy demons and angels, but i pointed out that they've made several hazbin hotel/helluva boss dubs as well as praised a recent helluva boss episode not too long ago, so they definitely don't have issues with sexy demons. So I decided to be forward and say "is this because the this character made you uncomfortable (the gay man in a pup mask) and they said yes LMAO
anyways, moral of the story, if you can't handle my queer men at their kinkiest, then you don't deserve the sexy lesbians

stop fetishizing gay men. our relationships don't exist for women to get off, even in fiction.
To all of my fellow girls here, do you ever get huge crushes on two male characters of a fandom and instead of choosing one of them to love you just non-canonically gay ship them so you don’t have to choose between them anymore?

for the record i am extremely against the liberal idea that peoples sexual preferences are “just what they like” and theres nothing deeper than that. all sexuality is psychosexuality, all of it is based in social relations and influenced by real history. it should be critiqued. however i also think this should be applied to everything instead of this weird thing people do on here where they try to insist that their specific fetishization of power dynamics is separate from those other bad fetishizations of power dynamics

One of the most generally useful things to come out of Hbomberguy's plagiarism video and Todd in the Shadows' similar video on misinformation is how they bring transparency to the internet phenomenon of "I made up a guy to get mad at".
Seriously, I've seen people make up a lot of stupid shit on the internet over the years and it's often just a manipulative attempt to paint a group of marginalized people in a bad light.
That's the TL;DR version of this post.
Tumblr media
ANYWAY here is the long version
Those videos are mostly about James Somerton's plagiarism of other queer people's work. However I'd like to talk about that 20-30% of Somerton's original writing- and oh boy. It's mostly about complaining about White Straight Women and misgendering well-known trans creators such as Rebecca Sugar and calling Becky Albertalli a straight woman while it's pretty common knowledge that she was forced to out herself as bi because she received so much harassment over "being a cishet woman who appropriates LGBT+ stories".
One thing that irks me especially is how in his Killing Stalking and Gay Shipping videos Somerton brings up how straight women/ teen girl shippers exploit gay men for their personal sexual fantasies. This gets brought up several times in his videos.
Being all up and arms about Somerton being a "White Cis Gay Who Hates Women and Queer People tm" is not that useful because the kind of rhetoric he's using is extremely common in fandom and LGBT+ spaces on Tumblr, TikTok and Twitter. We really don't need to bring Somerton's identity to this since he is in no way an unique example.
It's hypocritical to make this about an individual person when I've seen A TON of posts, tweets and videos where queer people talk about these Sinister Straight Women who are supposedly out there fetishizing and exploiting queer men. It's pretty clear to me that this is just an excuse to shit on women and queer people for having any sexual interests. At worst these comments are spreading misinformation about BL, a form of media that has been excessively studied by both Asian feminists and Asian queer women.
This all sounds really familiar and I think it's good that people are calling it out as what it is: misogyny and transphobia. I'd also point out the potentially racist motives behind being this hypervigilant about Asian media.
People can absolutely be misogynist regardless of gender or orientation. I really don't know why we need to create some kind of made up enemy to get mad at. I actually think it's almost sinister how "anti-fujoshi" people call Slash shippers and fujoshi misogynists or claim that they have internalised misogyny while being dismissive about women's interests and creative pursuits under Japanese obscenity laws, China's censorship, book bans in American schools and various other disadvances that are part of being a queer and/or female creator.
I think we shouldn't be naive about the bad faith actors who want to turn queer people against each other. For example Fujoshi.info mentions anti-gender (TERF, GC etc) movement using this kind of rhetoric as well.
Anyway if you want to read more:
- about the false info around BL fandom fujoshi.info
-There is the scholar Thomas Baudinette who studies gay media in Japan. Here is a podcast with him and the scholar Khursten Santos
-James Welker is a BL scholar as well. Here is a podcast interview about the new international BL article collection he edited.
-I've already talked about this Youtube channel by KrisPNatz and his great Killing Stalking video that actually engages with the themes of the manhwa
- There is also HR Coleman's thesis DO NOT FEED THE FETISHIZERS: BOYS LOVE FANS RESISTANCE AND CHALLENGE OF PERCEIVED REPUTATION where she interviews 36 BL fans and actually breaks down why fetishization has become such a huge talking point in the fandom discourse. Spoilers, it's mostly about young queer people and women being worried that they will get judged and pathologized for their interest in anything sexual.
-Great podcast about Danmei and censorship with Liang Ge
