The Masterpiece

(This short is written using my Denny's OC in Escaped Audio's 'My Greasefire Life' Series.)

While Thad and Ash were at the courthouse to talk about Ash's paper's, Donnie takes Lena to her apartment to recover from their respective hangovers. Lena is introduced to Donnie roommates, all fellow artists who wonder why their roommate did not return after her late shift last night and then spent another night partying it up. After some poking and prodding, Donnie admitted to her roommates that the actor boy she had been gushing about for weeks had finally kissed her!

"What was it like?" asked Lloyd, one of her roommates who was a sculptor.

Donnie blushed, covering her face with her hands. "Bitch, it was like a fairytale. Book shit, I swear. Toe curling, butterflies, whole experience."

Wine corks were popped, drinks were poured, and details were demanded from Lena and Donnie, but the waitress was distracted as she went into a closet to retrieve a large canvas, various paints, turning their meeting into an impromptu sip-and-paint.

Donnie popped one earbud in, and turned on a playlist, letting the music take her body. She started with a background of black, monochrome, a doorway, a window and the shape of a lighthouse beyond the shades of that window, and two figures in that doorway.

"What is she doing?" Lena asked, tilting her head to the side as she watched Donnie with her large pallet, mixing white and black to make more gray, while leaving two large blobs of the two colors alone.

Kim, an impressionist, chuckled. "It's Donatella's signature in her paintings. She starts off with monochrome black, it perfects the contrast when she adds the colors.

Once the background was dry, those bright colors were immediately added to the canvas, reds, blues, greens, purples, and shades in between came from the lighthouse in the window. Those colors and tones added highlights to the room, the doorway and the shades, and more importantly, the figures, showing them wrapped in a tight embrace, clearly kissing like their lives depended on it.

Lena stared in awe as Donnie took a silver sharpie and signed the portrait with 'Take the Risk.' She was quick to take a picture and send it to Ash, she couldn't wait to see his reaction to Donnie's masterpiece, and this thing was definitely going in a gallery.

(So, I cannot draw something like this for anything, but I'm really good at writing imagery so... yeah!)

She's a college student double-majoring in art and psychology, and uses painting as a form of therapy and tracking her thoughts. And now that she's met Ashley and Thad, she might have some new painting ideas.

Baby girl can't sleep to save her life. So with classes and working the night shift she probably sleeps maybe four hours a day, and never all at once.
