What was on your to grow list this year that either didn’t succeed or you forgot to grow? I’ve always wanted to grow garlic in my home garden and have never been able to find healthy garlic seed when I need them. While visiting the Veggie Trials in California in August friends from Sustainable Seed Company stopped by the trial garden at Seeds By Design and brought gifts – including Garlic!!!! Garlic is at the top of my 2016 Harvest list.
Now there is only one problem with owning my first Garlic to plant … I have NO CLUE what to do!

“I wondered, is there anyone else freaked out that there are only a few broccoli varieties left to grow?” he said …. ” continue reading Here

I’m a HUGE pepper fan! I love growing them in my raised beds, traditional garden and even in containers. Last night on the Google Garden Chatter hangouts Adam Cortell and I got to speak with Terry Berke who I have officially hashtagged the #PepperGuy ! Terry is a pepper breeder for Seminis Seed and has spent over 15 years traveling the world to find the perfect peppers for us to grow in our home gardens. Many of these peppers I’m sure you have eaten either at restaurants, from your local markets and maybe even in your own home garden. I hope this presentation embedded below will encourage you to include peppers in your home garden this year.
Terry Berke : Peppers on My Youtube Channel
My Home Garden Peppers
Peppers are super easy to grow in most home gardens as long as you have healthy soil and plenty of warm sunshine. I purchase many of my peppers as starter plants from my local garden centers. Below is a chart from a local Bowling Green Greenhouse showing the scoville that Terry mentioned in the interview video above.
Terry Berke the #PepperGuy
I had a blast meeting Terry last year at the Woodland Trial Gardens in Northern California. Here are some photos I took of him sharing his peppers. You can totally tell he LOVES peppers!!!
