2020年おすすめ新譜アルバムVol. 50：Shoreline Mafia「Mafia Bidness」

新譜アルバム紹介Vol. 50です。

今回紹介するのは、西海岸のラップグループのShoreline Mafiaがリリースした「Mafia Bidness」です。ジャケットをクリックすると購入先へ飛びます。

Shoreline Mafiaは西海岸を拠点に活動するラップグループです。現在はMaster Kato、Ohgeesy、Rob Viciousの三人組で、今作リリース時にはFenix Flexinも在籍していました。

16年頃に結成。17年には初のミックステープ「ShorelineDoThatShit」を発表します。18年にはEP「Party Pack」、ミックステープ「OTXmas」と2枚の作品をリリース.。客演もこの頃から増え始め、SOB X RBEや03 Greedoなどの作品に参加しています。19年にはEP「Party Pack, Vol. 2」をリリース。着実に人気を拡大している、新進グループです。

感情をあまり表に出さない、冷徹なラップを聴かせるグループです。スキル的には高い方ではありませんが、悪そうなラップが好きな方にはたまらないと思います。サウンド面は現行ウェッサイらしいバンギンやファンクが中心ですが、トラップなど他エリアのサウンドも柔軟に取り入れています。

今作は初のフルアルバムで、メロウも多少取り入れつつも緊張感の漂う曲が中心の傑作に仕上がっています。客演のカラーに合わせつつも、寄りすぎないバランス感覚が見事。随所で聴かせるオマージュも楽しく、長くヒップホップに親しんでいる方なら思わずニヤリとする瞬間も多数あります。G好きの方はもちろん、そうでない方も是非。

2. Run It Back Feat. 03 Greedo

G好きの方は初っ端からのけぞります。

まんま使いで03 Greedoが例のフレーズを歌い、続いてOhgeesyも例のフロウを披露するバウンスです。Fenix Flexinも例のフロウ。ニヤニヤが止まりません。

3. All The Time

Ohgeesyのソロ曲。

緊張感のあるピアノと太いベースが効いたビートを手掛けたのはHelluvaです。冷徹なOhgeesyのラップが見事に合っています。

4. Fuck It Up Feat. Mike Sherm

Mike Shermがメインでラップする曲。

クールでシンプルなポストハイフィ的なビートで、Mike Shermのハキハキとしたラップと絡む良曲です。Shoreline MafiaからはFenix Flexinのみが登場。

5. Change Ya Life

再びHelluvaプロデュース。

美しいピアノを使ったエモーショナルな曲かと思いきや、極悪ベースが入ってきて一気に殺伐とした世界に連れて行かれます。OhgeesyとFenix Flexinの冷徹なラップも抜群。

6. Big Tymer Feat. Z Money & AFN Peso

ダークなバンギン路線。

逆再生の音と淡々と刻まれるハイハットが印象的なビートで、OhgeesyとFenix Flexinでゲスト二人を迎え撃つマイクリレーです。Z Moneyの脱力感のあるヴァースがベスト。

7. Poe the Drop Feat. Future

今作のハイライトの一つ。

バウンシーながら西海岸っぽい妖しいビートで、OhgeesyとRob Viciousの二人が掛け合う良曲です。後半に登場するFutureの歌心のあるラップも見事にはまっています。

8. Do the Most Feat. Duke Deuce

ハイライトが続きます。

ダークなピアノループで客演に合わせつつも、ベースの鳴りなど西海岸らしさはキープしたビートがたまらないバンギンです。某南部Gクラシックからの引用を決めるDuke Deuceヴァースにも痺れます。

10. Hold On / Musty Freestyle Feat. Drakeo The Ruler

OhgeesyとRob Viciousによる曲と、Drakeo The RulerのShoreline Mafia曲でのフリースタイルを繋げたトラック。

「Hold On」は、チープで緊張感のあるピアノループに高速ハイハットが絡むバウンシーな曲です。Shoreline Mafia流儀の妖しいビートでのDrakeo The Rulerのフリースタイルも聴きもの。

11. How We Do It Feat. Wiz Khalifa

大ネタ使いのパーティチューン。

ドコドコ鳴る低音が効いた楽しい曲です。Wiz Khalifaのキレキレのヴァースも光ります。Shoreline MafiaからはFenix Flexinのみが登場。

13. Bitches Feat. 1TakeJay

軽快なドラムと武骨なベースを使ったバウンシーなファンク。

Mistah F.A.B.あたりを思わせる1TakeJayのダミーなフロウと、Ohgeesyのクールさが対照的な良曲です。後半のクラップ連打も良い味を出しています。

14. Gangstas & Sippas (Remix) Feat. Q Da Fool & YG

ミニマルなホーンのループが印象的な曲。

ハイハットを高速で刻まずに、シンプルな作りでラップを引き立てたポッセカットです。タイトルに反応した方は正解。

16. On the Low Feat. Kodak Black

オヤGも思わずソファに泣き崩れる哀愁路線。

もの悲しいピアノとGな高音シンセを使ったビートで、フックではKodak Blackがズルズルとした泣きそうなラップを聴かせる良曲です。今作のベストトラック。

19. Ride Out Feat. Lil Yachty

地を這うようなベースが効いた凶悪なトラップ。

Lil Yachtyは歌うようなスタイルではなく、脱力感のあるラップをフックで聴かせます。Rob Vicious、Ohgeesy、Fenix Flexinの三人のラップもばっちり。

20. Fucc Cuh Feat. 03 Greedo

煌びやかでスムースなメロウ曲。

オートチューンがかった歌うラップを聴かせる、03 Greedoの凄まじい存在感に魅せられます。その後登場するOhgeesyの無感情フロウも良いですが、出番の多さも込みで主役はほぼ03 Greedo。ファンの方は必聴です。
