God I only wish they would just not shout so much. Or if they want to just not infront of me. Each accusation, each word spat to one another felt like it was my fault. I don’t even know why I think its my fault. The air itself was so thick it was suffocating. I tried sleeping it off but the shouting just went on and on and an like it was in my brain. I wanted to cry but couldn’t and it felt like a barb wire in my throat. As I lay on my bed, with the comfort of my favourite playlist playing in the background, the weight of the situation pressed down on me. Hands trembling I decided to call the one person I thought could provide me comfort right now: Grayson.

I reached for my phone, my fingers hesitantly hovering over his contact before pressing call. The phone rang briefly before his warm, familiar voice filled the line.

“Hey, love, everything okay?” Grayson’s voice was tinged with immediate concern.

Hearing his voice again tipped my emotions over the edge. I tried to cover my mouth and not cry so I don’t worry him any further; which obviously turns futile.

“Hamnah what happened? Talk to me love” he asked worriedly

“Can I please come over to your place? Theyre fighting again” I ask as quietly as I can without breaking down after hearing his voice

There was no hesitation on his end, just the comforting certainty of his reply. “Of course, come over. The house feels empty without you anyway.”

Disconnecting the call, I packed a few necessities into a bag, throwing in a book and my journal, knowing well that Grayson’s place was the only place where I could find peace enough to write. The drive over was quick, the familiar streets bathed in the soft glow of the streetlights leading me to his penthouse which was his safe place too.

As soon as he opened the door I was enveloped in a comforting hug which was the best thing in the world. We stayed in that position which felt like hours but could only have been a few minutes.

Grayson, cupping my face up gave me the most gentle kiss on lips and then asked “Are you ok Hamna? Wanna talk about it?”

Shaking my head I said, “I'd really rather not right now”

Nodding his head with a small comforting smile on his face he went into the kitchen while I situated myself on his bed; finally taking a deep breath and letting myself relax.

He comes back and hands me a glass of water and says “You know you’re always welcome here, right? This is as much your home as it is mine,” he said, his voice earnest.

I nodded, my heart swelling with gratitude. “I know, Gray. Thank you. It means everything to me.”

We spent the evening tucked away in his bedroom, watching movies that made us laugh and making me forget the harshness of reality of my home. Grayson held me close, his presence a shield against the outside world. It was moments like these that I was reminded of how much he meant to me,and how we came to be together and him being my boyfriend and safe space.

Later, while cuddling with his arm around my back and my head on chest, listening to heartbeats I decided to speak about what happened.

“I hate that you have to see this side of my life, I never wanted to show you this ” I confessed quietly, the darkness of the room and his presence making it easier for me to express my fears and feelings.

Grayson’s arm tightened around me, pulling me closer. “Hamna, we all have our battles. But you’re not alone in this, okay? I’m here for you, no matter what.” His words, feeling sincere and reassuring, helped the tightening around my cheat and throat.

“I love you, Gray,” I whispered, feeling his kiss on my forehead in response.

“I love you more,” he said back, a line so simple yet profound, promising unspoken vows of support and everything I could wish for.

As I drifted off to sleep, the echo of my parents’ shouting seemed like miles away. Here, in Grayson’s arms, I found more than just a temporary escape; I found a promise of hope and a reminder of his love for me.

some of of rogue and gambit’s breakups were… stupid, but the last one was actually so well done. i just hate that it was written so they could finally have her date that old man (and become incredibly boring until they’re physically separated, in which nothing happens and then she dumps him. lol)

like rogue had been telling herself all this time that her powers were what was keeping her from the rest of her life, and now the problem is gone. she can settle down, be affectionate with her friends and family the way she wants to- and it scares her. this big thing shes always been saying is never gonna happen is finally in front of her, happening, and she doesn't know how to act. and then remy's point or view is just kinda hilarious like ily bae but i'm tired of love triangles i know you're gonna pick me eventually so hmu when you do byeeeee AND HE WAS RIGHT 😭😭😭 i wish they'd taken from the home and harbor scene for x-men 97. not only would it have been the gag of the century, but i feel like it would’ve cushioned the misogyny of fans’ reactions somehow (don’t ask me how i just know)

🍷- In terms of affection, I feel like he’d be very hesitant at first but then kinda gets used to it in private, but now you have a clingy antinous who refuses to sleep if his head isn’t buried in your tits chest. Oh and PDA is a big no for him UNLESS he’s jealous, then his hands are ALLLL over you until he feels like letting go.

🍷- If you hate how he treats Telemachus he’ll stop messing with him frequently and just makes the suitors mess with him instead without you knowing. But if you like to hate on Telemachus too he’d do it much more often to entertain you and himself.

🍷- This man’s temper and jealousy issues are beyond comprehension so expect an argument to happen ever so often. Most of the time it gets resolved by freaky time in bed, but if you have a especially bad one do NOT expect this man to apologize first. Whether or not he was right or wrong that man is way too prideful to apologize for shit. In fact he is waiting for an apology from YOU.

🍷- after a bad argument what he’ll usually do is ghost you and avoid you until you apologize. But in the rare instances that he does apologize first it’s “yea my fault ig….can we make out-“ a slap to the face.

🍷- If he ever sees a suitor harass you, they’re gone the next day. Don’t ask how.

🍷- There was definitely a moment where Telemachus caught you two making out and anitnous ran after him, threading to wring his neck if he interrupted them again. Let me write this out

🍷- His lips captured yours before you could say another word, the kiss deep and consuming. He pulled you flush against him, one hand tangled in your hair while the other rested firmly at your waist. The world seemed to disappear as his intensity drew you in, every thought and worry melting away. That is, until—

“Y/N?”

The voice was sharp and startled, and you both froze. Antinous broke the kiss, turning his head just in time to see Telemachus standing in the doorway, his eyes wide with shock and tremendous disgust.

“What the—?” Telemachus began, but Antinous was already moving.

“Telemachus!” Antinous barked, his tone exasperated as he straightened up. “Do you not know how to knock?”

“This is a public hall!” Telemachus shot back, his face turning red as he pointed accusingly. “Where the hell could I possibly knock!?”

Antinous groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Stay here,” he muttered to you, his tone softening just slightly. “I’ll handle this.”

Before you could respond, he was already stalking after Telemachus, who already began running away down the hall.

hmmmmm. okay i really wanted to share something i HAVEN'T posted but i think i have to do the argument in scotch gambit chapter 2, so here's a snippet:

i spent like an entire month on this argument, making sure there was tension, tweaking the meanness level, etc etc. i'm a big fan of the way it all dovetails and i think the rhythm & pacing of the whole scene turned out really well. Also i love my donnie lines. he's probably my favorite character to write dialogue for

Literally countless times reading their work i've had to close my laptop and stare at a wall for ten minutes like How Did They Do That. i've been thinking nonstop about their reincarnation au "and again" so you should read that if you want to be really fucked up about twins

This author ended my life with "eight long months" and then just kept resurrecting me and killing me again with their whumptober series. Holy fucking fuck. this person is REDEFINING the whump genre guys Literally doing angst like no other. Every fucking time i read a stillateenageabomination fic it moves into the apartment complex of my brain permanently. RENT FREE.

honorable mention: @i-logophile for writing "the glass pawn" one of my Favorite Fucking Fics of Ever. i hope you write many more things in the future because i will devour all of them ravenously holy fuck that fic is so good

V: If you could write the sequel/prequel to any fic out there NOT written by yourself, what would it be?

this is tricky because there are a lot of unfinished fics out there i would love to explore the rest of but wouldn't want to be like "well i'd write a sequel because THEY'RE NOT FINISHING IT FAST ENOUGH 🙄" cuz not only is that rude it would send me directly to Hypocrite Hell

Buuut in terms of fics that are like, well and truly finished, i would fucking love to see the aftermath of "skinning the children for a war drum" by @jumpinginmuddypuddles. this fucking fic is so good. The leo chapter exploded me and all the boys have such strong characterization and interesting backstories and i'd love to see them interact and learn to trust each other/become a family again🥺
