Over the Nexus Deck Profile: Jurrac
Tumblr media
"Where's the unfairness? Where's the dumb combo? This is just big bunguses!" ~ MBT Yu-Gi-Oh!, Progression Playoffs #15 Jurracs are the first real Dinosaur archetype. Their gameplan revolves around battle, destroying opponent's monsters or being destroyed themselves to gain their often powerful effects. Between Guaiba, Velo, and Fossil Dig, the deck has no trouble searching out your monsters to give you what you need, creating a low-level toolbox deck with solutions to various problems. "Low-level" sounds strange for a Dinosaur deck, but this is Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's; the high-level stuff is in the Extra Deck. In particular we have our boss monster, Jurrac Giganoto. 2100 reads unimpressive, but Giganoto gives 200 attack to ALL of your Jurrac monsters for EVERY Jurrac in your graveyard. This means your entire deck of Normal Summons suddenly becomes unmatched in sheer power, and their effects become much more threatening. This also means the high-level Jurracs in the Main Deck become significantly less interesting; why would I bother Tribute Summoning a big monster, when my regular Normal Summons can outmuscle a Blue-Eyes White Dragon? Giganoto's power becomes especially apparent when you consider that you can summon more copies to double or even triple the attack bonus, causing your attack stats to balloon to ridiculous levels. If it CAN be destroyed by battle, it WILL be. The other two Jurrac Synchros are far less prominent, but still worth mentioning: Velphito's stats being the combined stats of its materials is pretty unimpressive, but its ability to clear face-down monsters without worrying about flip effects or battle immunity is nice, and Meteor is a Black Rose Dragon that gives you a free monster back, which has to be a Tuner, but remember that Aeolo can trade itself for any level 4 or lower Jurrac in your graveyard, so you can bring back a Guaiba to resume your onslaught of aggression. If you believe there's only one way to duel, and that's with power, then Jurrac is the deck for you. Here's the list: MONSTERS (20): Jurrac Aeolo x3 Jurrac Dino x2 Jurrac Gallim x2 Jurrac Guaiba x3 Jurrac Herra x1 Jurrac Iguanon x2 Jurrac Monoloph x3 Jurrac Ptera x1 Jurrac Velo x3 SPELLS (10): Dark Hole x1 Fossil Dig x3 Instant Fusion x1 Mind Control x1 Monster Reborn x1 Mystical Space Typhoon x2 One for One x1 TRAPS (10): Call of the Haunted x1 Dimensional Prison x2 Fossil Excavation x2 Mirror Force x1 Solemn Judgment x1 Solemn Warning x2 Torrential Tribute x1 EXTRA DECK: Pragtical x1 Ally of Justice Catastor x1 Black Rose Dragon x1 Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier x1 Goyo Guardian x1 Jurrac Giganoto x3 Jurrac Meteor x1 Jurrac Velphito x1 Red Dragon Archfiend x1 Red Nova Dragon x1 Scrap Dragon x1 Stardust Dragon x1 Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier

Woe to Tyrants
1 Woe to those who enact unjust decrees and draft oppressive legislation 2 to deprive the impoverished of justice and rob my people’s poor of their rights, looting widows and preying on orphans! 3 What will you do on the day of punishment, when calamity comes from afar? To whom will you flee for help? Where will you leave your wealth, 4 so as not to squat among the prisoners or fall among the slain?
Even after all this, his anger remains, his upraised hand still threatens.
5 “Oh Ashur, the rod expressing my anger! The club in their hands is my fury! 6 I am sending him against a hypocritical nation, ordering him to march against a people who enrage me, to take the spoil and the plunder and trample them down like mud in the street. 7 That is not what Ashur intends, that is not what they think; rather, they mean to destroy, to cut down nation after nation. 8 For [their king] says, ‘Aren’t all my commanders kings? 9 Hasn’t Kalno [suffered] like Kark’mish, Hamat like Arpad, Shomron like Dammesek? 10 Just as my hand reached the kingdoms of non-gods, with more images than in Yerushalayim and Shomron; 11 so won’t I do to Yerushalayim and her non-gods what I did to Shomron and her idols?’”
12 Therefore when Adonai has done everything he intends to do to Mount Tziyon and Yerushalayim, “I will punish the king of Ashur for the boasting that comes from his proud heart and from reveling in his arrogant looks. 13 For he says,
“‘With my own strong arm I have done this, and with my wisdom, because I’m so clever! I erased the boundaries between peoples, I plundered their stores for the future; as a mighty man, I subjugated the inhabitants. 14 My hand found the riches of the peoples like a nest; and as one gathers abandoned eggs, I gathered the whole earth! Not one wing fluttered, not one beak opened or let out a chirp!’”
15 Should the axe glorify itself over the one who chops with it? Should the saw magnify itself over the one who moves it? It’s as if a stick could wave the hand that raises it up, or as if a wooden staff could lift [a person, who is] not made of wood. 16 Therefore the Lord, Adonai-Tzva’ot, will send leanness to his well-fed ones; and in place of his glory, a fire will be kindled that will burn and burn. 17 The light of Isra’el will become a fire and his Holy One a flame, burning and devouring his thorns and briars in a single day. 18 The glory of his forest and of his fertile land he will consume body and soul, like an invalid wasting away. 19 So few forest trees will remain that a child could list them.
20 On that day the remnant of Isra’el, those of the house of Ya‘akov who escaped, will no longer rely on the man who struck them down, but will truly rely on Adonai, the Holy One of Isra’el. 21 A remnant will return, the remnant of Ya‘akov, to the mighty God. 22 For, although your people, Isra’el, are like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will return. Destruction is decreed, overflowing with justice. 23 Adonai Elohim-Tzva’ot will bring about this decreed destruction throughout all the land.
24 Therefore Adonai Elohim-Tzva’ot says:
“My people living in Tziyon, don’t be afraid of Ashur, even when he strikes you with a stick and raises his staff against you, the way it was in Egypt. 25 For in but a little while, my fury will end; and my anger will have destroyed them.”
26 Adonai-Tzva’ot will wield a whip against them, as he did when striking Midyan at the Rock of ‘Orev; as his staff was over the sea, he will raise it, the way it was in Egypt.
27 On that day his burden will fall from your shoulders and his yoke from your neck; the yoke will be destroyed by your prosperity.
28 He has come to ‘Ayat and passed through Migron. He has stored his equipment at Mikhmas. 29 They have crossed the pass, then lodged at Geva. Ramah is shaking, Giv‘at-Sha’ul has fled. 30 Cry, shriek, Bat-Gallim! Listen, Layish! Poor ‘Anatot! 31 Madmenah is in flight, The people of Gevim take cover. 32 This very day he will stop at Nov; and he will shake his fist at the mountain of the daughter of Tziyon, at the hill of Yerushalayim. 33 See how Adonai Elohim-Tzva’ot lops off the branches with terrible violence! The ones standing highest are chopped down, the lofty are laid low. 34 He will hack down the forest underbrush with an axe, and the L’vanon in its splendor falls. — Isaiah 10 | Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) Complete Jewish Bible Copyright 1998 by David H. The Divine Diagnosis: Interpreting Life’s Events | 1 Samuel 25:36-44
Was it a divine event or only natural?
Welcome to the Daily Devo. I am Vince Miller.
In yesterday's devotional, we saw that Abigail's appeal to David works. But now she has to return home to the celebration and tell her husband what she did. Let's see how this plays out in 1 Samuel 25:36-44:
And Abigail came to Nabal, and behold, he was holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk. So she told him nothing at all until the morning light. In the morning, when the wine had gone out of Nabal, his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone. And about ten days later the Lord struck Nabal, and he died.
When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, "Blessed be the Lord who has avenged the insult I received at the hand of Nabal, and has kept back his servant from wrongdoing. The Lord has returned the evil of Nabal on his own head." Then David sent and spoke to Abigail, to take her as his wife. When the servants of David came to Abigail at Carmel, they said to her, "David has sent us to you to take you to him as his wife." And she rose and bowed with her face to the ground and said, "Behold, your handmaid is a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord." And Abigail hurried and rose and mounted a donkey, and her five young women attended her. She followed the messengers of David and became his wife.
David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel, and both of them became his wives. Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, to Palti the son of Laish, who was of Gallim. — 1 Samuel 25:36-44
I think it is essential to see the comparison between Saul and Nabal today. They are comparable men—wealthy, entitled, and benefiting from David's protection equally. Both had their lives spared by David, both had females who married David, both women confided in David to help him avoid inevitable disasters, and both men died under God's judgment. The comparison is remarkable.
But the result is Nabal dies. In contemporary medical terms, it sounds like Nabal had an initial stroke and then fell into a coma and died of starvation. However, we cannot avoid David's divine diagnosis. When David hears about Nabal, he perceives a double divine blessing in this event. First, a blessing of vengeance by God for Nabal's insult. Second, Abigail's blessing of protection for holding him back from doing wrongful harm to Nabal.
This is intriguing because we often wonder about God's use of natural means to bring justice and blessing.
God often uses natural events as instruments of justice. For example, in Genesis 6-9, He brought justice to a corrupt world through the flood. Also, in Exodus 7-12, God sent plagues involving natural elements—frogs, hail, and darkness—to confront Pharaoh's defiance.
In the same way, God also uses natural events to grant blessings. For example, in Exodus 16, he provided manna to sustain his people in the wilderness. Then, in Deuteronomy 11, God promised rain for crops as a reward for obedience, using natural weather to nurture provisions for his people.
So, the question remains: Should we interpret Nabal's death as natural or divine? Did God do this? Or was this merely a natural circumstance?
And the answer to this question is "Yes!"
Like Nabal, we will all die. Death is God's judgment for all creation. What bothers us is the connection of death with God's divine providence. Are they connected? Should we see them as one and the same? David's answer is "Yes!"
Those of you who believe in Jesus see the connection here. This is because a spiritual reality is more real than the natural. Your redeemed mind sees the divine work in the natural, and there is great hope for you. While you face physical death, you escape eternal death to live forever with God. When you die, you will be raised into eternal life! This is because those who call on the Lord receive the promise of eternal life in heaven, thanks to Jesus Christ's victory over sin and death.
And for those who do not know this, you can enjoy this blessing right now by acknowledging Jesus as your Savior and Lord and choosing to live under his grace and blessings. I invite you today to trust in Jesus and choose life. We all will die as God has determined. But you can live now and forever with God. Surrender your life to Jesus right now. Acknowledge your sins, call on his mercy, and accept his gift of salvation—live now and into eternity with Jesus. Don't be foolish like Nabal, living and dying only to yourself, thus dying here and spending eternity in Hell. Death comes to us all. Choose life in Jesus and receive his blessings.
If you're ready to make this decision, you can acknowledge Jesus right now. Take this step by saying out loud, "I choose Jesus." And if you just declared that, pray this short prayer with me:
"Lord, I choose life. I recognize my need for You. I surrender my life to Your will, trusting in Jesus as my Savior. I want to live under Your grace and blessings. Amen."
If you made this decision today, write "I choose Jesus" below, and we will reach out to you with free resources to help you on your journey with Christ.
#DivineProvidence, #FaithAndLife, #ChooseJesus
Ask This:
How do you see God's hand in the natural events of your life?
What steps can you take to trust in God’s divine plan amidst difficult circumstances?
Do This:
Choose Jesus.
Pray This:
Lord, help me to recognize Your presence in both the natural and divine events of my life. Strengthen my faith as I choose to trust in Your perfect plan. Amen.
Play This:
I Choose Jesus.

Over the Nexus Deck Profile: Jurrac
Tumblr media
Dinosaurs are big. Really really big. Y'know what else is really big? Your Jurrac monsters after Jurrac Giganoto hits the field. Jurracs are a battle focused archetype, with Giganoto enabling it all by boosting itself and all of your other Jurracs to ludicrously huge levels of attack power. But in order to get there, we need attack power already, as Jurrac Guaiba can summon a Tuner needed to make Giganoto by destroying an opponent's monster by battle. To help achieve this, we play a trifecta of cards: Book of Moon, Royal Decree, and Shrink. Royal Decree negates all other trap cards, while Book of Moon and Shrink both have trap-like effects while being quick-play spells instead, putting us in a favorable position over our opponent. Both Book of Moon and Shrink can be used to protect our monsters, and put them in a position to be destroyed by Guaiba. While it's tempting to go into Giganoto right away, a patient player can wait a turn until they have another level 4 non-Tuner to use so they can keep summoning monsters off of Guaiba. It's worth noting that Giganoto's effect stacks: the more copies of it you summon, the more attack you gain for each Jurrac. The only non-Jurrac monster we play in the main deck is Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, which serves the dual purpose of being removal (and another trap-like card that works under Decree) and sending Jurracs from our deck to the graveyard to further bolster the attack boost from Giganoto. Sometimes you just want to hit your opponent really hard, and few decks do it like this one!
