ABOUT - GROWING UP / HOGWARTS !!

gabriel comes from a lower-middle class family; his mother - camila - is Muggle (has family money) and father is magical (pureblood slytherin line)

a few months after his sister was born, and when gabe was only three years old, his father left his family behind to pursue the dark arts.

gabe attended muggle school up until his high school graduation. when he told his mom about his acceptance to hogwarts, she was so proud. she decided the family would move closer to the school. (tbd if his sister was a fan of this or not)

gabriel was sorted into slytherin at hogwarts, which upset him a bit at first, as he didn’t really want to be connected to his father. however, he ended up liking be a part of the house!

Backstory/Background:

Gabriel was born the oldest of the Rydan children. Being the oldest out of what would ultimately be seven children, their parents would make many mistakes while learning how to be parents. It did not help that they were extremely wealthy and could just have someone else step in when an infant Gabriel became too much for them to handle. Which in later years they would grow to regret. In their society however these things were hard to do as all were born to wear a mask. Parents would design the mask for their children and for Gabriel his parents would initially give him a blank mask. As most infants would often be given upon birth. In their society no one but family was allowed to see the real faces of anyone within their kingdom and provinces around it.

This however did not often matter too much to Gabriel as he became older and his blank mask had changed throughout the years. As well, being the oldest of their children he was often treated as if he were a trophy child. Which impeded on his being a child, as he had to make a good impression when he was out with his parents. Whereas his parents did not hold up the same standard to his younger siblings. Because of this disregard to him being an actual child, his parents would often not give him much attention and leave him to his own devices. At a very young age, because of this neglect, he would grow to become attached to a Virtual Reality game.

There Gabriel would find many friends he wasn’t able to make in the outside world, due to his constantly being kept in his family’s mansion. Being still a very young boy he was easily manipulated by some of his less savory friendships in the game.  When Gabriel is about eight years old one of these friends leads Gabriel out to a party going on one evening. There, he is taken by an organization that has spent many years abducting all kinds of people and using orphans in their experiments. Gabriel also becomes one of those unfortunate many who are experimented on. This would be his life for many years to come, until he reached adulthood.

Due to the location of the facility all attempts to escape by either Gabriel, or any other patient, was futile. Because of this, Gabriel became used to the living situation and would himself join the organization as a hunter, and majorly a scientist in the end. When he reached adulthood he would also pick his adult mask, this would take on the appearance of a monkey. Now on the very same side of those who had done such horrific things to him, Gabriel keeps with this only ritual from his people and kingdom, of constantly wearing masks to hide his true face behind it. He spends a lot of his time as well, out finding new victims for the facility to experiment on. Becoming one of their most notable hunters. He only takes adults, however, and mostly those he believes deserves the torture.

Gabriel, as the eldest son, always felt a sense of responsibility to look after his family. From the very beginning, the Alemans didn’t have a lot. His parents were poor, and their parents had been poor. It was a never ending cycle, one that his family couldn’t seem to break out of -- not until Gabriel, that is. He started working at a young age, putting school on the back burner while he worked long hours to bring in some extra income. Gabriel saw everything about himself as an investment -- he gave his parents whatever money they needed, and whatever else was left, he spent on himself. People needed to take him seriously, and they wouldn’t unless he was dressed in nice clothes. Gabriel first met Miguel Herrera in Guadalajara, near where Gabriel and his brother were born. Miguel was instantly impressed with Gabriel, and the way that he carried himself. Gabriel got a job almost immediately, and it paid well. 

There was no easy way to tell his parents what exactly he did, so he kept that vital piece of information to himself. He wasn’t selling cars or running errands for a wealthy local in Guadalajara -- he was smuggling drugs and taking out any other competitors who dared to step on Herrera turf. And, at seventeen, Gabriel had already put a bullet in between a man’s eyes. The act of killing alone was so easy for Gabriel -- it was a split second decision. Survive, or don’t. As the years went by, Gabriel outworked any other member of the cartel. He put in the extra hours, brought ideas to the boss, and garnered a somewhat ruthless reputation on the streets. Gabriel didn’t play any games -- if you owed money, you’d pay up -- one way or another.  

The disintegration of the Herrera cartel happened rather quickly, and Gabriel played a critical role in it. He was smarter than the leader, and whenever Gabriel showcased his strengths, the members could plainly see Miguel’s weaknesses in comparison. Joaquín joining the cartel was the catalyst that really put things in motion. A band of loyalists stood behind both brothers, urging them to take ownership of the Herrera territory. Only days later, Gabriel slit Miguel’s throat and crowned him and his brother kings. With that, the Aleman brothers took charge of any and call cartel operations on the west coast of Mexico. They started making a ridiculous amount of money, using it to buy some of Mexico’s most crooked politicians and cops. Both brothers bought their parents a home, promising them that they’d never have to work again. Despite their ruthless reputation in the criminal world, on the surface, the Aleman brothers were saints. They donated to local schools and colleges, funneled money into their hometown’s infrastructure. And, as they expanded rather aggressively, they became even more powerful.

Gabriel wasn’t looking to settle down whenever he met Alondra. They met at a beach in Puerto Vallarta, only a few yards away from a hotel that he’d just purchased. They spent the night together, thinking nothing would come of it -- but Gabriel was truly charmed by her. She had a strong personality -- one to go with his. And whenever Gabriel introduced Alondra to his business, she seemed to embrace it instead of running away from it. Gabriel didn’t have a choice -- he had to marry her. Women like her didn’t wait around for any man, not even one as powerful as Gabriel. They married in a very expensive ceremony, on the spot where they’d first met. It wasn’t long before Alondra was wanting to involve herself in the business in some capacity. Eventually, Gabriel made her the CEO of the Aleman Corporation. The Aleman Corporation was the legitimate side of their business -- it started with dirty money, but now, it’s funded only with real profits that they’ve made through their business ventures. 

Gabriel had no issue handing that off to Alondra. Whatever she wanted, she got. As their businesses grew, Gabriel couldn’t help but want more. They had a strong presence in Mexico, and a good one in southern California, too. Gabriel and Joaquín eventually discussed the idea of expanding elsewhere -- somewhere more permanent. Chicago seemed like the perfect place. There were two established crime families already living there, and with the right strategy, they’d tear each other apart. A few trusted loyalists followed the Alemans to Chicago. The rest of the city had no idea what their intentions were. In the public’s eye, Gabriel and his family were generous entrepreneurs, nothing more. Gabriel used his charm to network with both families, even receiving an invitation to the wedding. All the while, Joaquín orchestrated Paityn’s kidnapping. Even before Paityn’s kidnapping, both brothers had been purchasing property near Costello and Sinclair territory. Almost immediately after Paityn’s disappearance, both families were at each other’s throats. They’ve had Paityn for about six months now, and it’s time to give her back. Gabriel is ready to send a message to Chicago: the Aleman Cartel has arrived, and they’re there to stay -- no matter the cost.
