Day 2: Least favourite character - Gabe Bensen

“Seriously thought. What is this little twerp doing in one of my most favourite episodes of all time??!”

“Mabel your taste in boys is terrible. … Except Alexander Hamilton. He’s a hunk. ”

I don’t hate any characters really but some make me cringe pretty badly. Gabe is one of them.

FUN FACT OF THE DAY: Gabe’s name was changed to Ken in the Swedish dub. God knows why. It isn’t even a Swedish name.

Random headcanon #15: failed summer romances

Stanford: [looking at the scrapbook] Mabel, you didn't show this to us when you were helping Stanley with his memories yesterday.

Mabel: [looking uncomfortable] Uh...I didn't think he needed to see that, Grunkle Ford.

Stanford: [looking at the descriptions below the pictures] Norman, turned out to be gnomes...Gideon, child psycho...

Dipper: [enters the room] Oh, and he summoned Bill Cipher so that he can find out the code to Stan's safe to get the deed to the Shack.

Stanford: [continues]...Gabe, makes out with his own hands (yeesh!)...Mermando (Mermando???), married to the Queen of the Manatees. [closes the scrapbook] Oh, Mabel.

Mabel: Yeaahh, pfft! They're not important anymore, not after what happened with you-know-who. If they can't handle the Mabel, they don't deserve the Mabel!

Dipper: [raises a can of Pitt cola] Cheers to you, Mabel!

Stanford: [gives Mabel a hug] That's very mature of you, Mabel!

Mabel: [gushes] Thanks, you guys!

Stanford: [takes a piece of paper and a pen and stands up] Now if you'll excuse me, I'm taking down these names and having a WORD with these creeps.

Dipper and Mabel: [realizing what he's about to do] Wait, wait!

Stanford: [muttering] I'll start with the gnomes. "Norman" sounds like something Jeff would do. Now, where does Soos keep the leaf blower?

I really like how Gabe turned out. I had a lot of fun making the little hand puppets!

Who is Gabe Bensen?

okay so I know this is a really old argument about something that came out about 3 episodes ago but hear me out.

I've heard a lot of theories explaining who/what Gabe Bensen really is, and they've all been on different degrees. From the infamous "he's missing his hands" theory to "he's an escaped clone/member of Sev'ral Times". One particular theory that caught my eye was the one that claimed that Gabe was Bill in a human form. Now, I'm a fan of that theory, but at the same time, I'd like to argue against that for a minute. While I doubt that Bill is Gabe, I do like the idea of Bill being responsible for Gabe. Let me explain what I mean.

Before she met Gabe, Mabel was on board to help Dipper figure out the laptop's password. Right before Gabe catches her attention, she says the line "Don't you worry, bro bro. With your brains and my laser focus, nothing can distract us from...". Although not shown until later, it's implied that during this scene, Bill is paying closer attention to them than he usually was. It's very well known that he's powerful enough to accomplish almost anything. So he created the one and only thing that can distract Mabel from accomplishing anything.  And what's that?

A boy.

and not just any boy, either. Based off of both her history with boys and the history of beauty in general, he created the most attractive boy he could with two very  specific factors. 

blond hair and blue eyes, which, even in the show's past, has had characters with these distinctive features be portrayed as  "perfect" (the first time being in Boyz Crazy with Sev'ral Times being said characters).

Bill didn't stop there, however. Again, based on the fact that Mabel's willing to do anything for a guy she likes, had Gabe ask for proof of her love of puppets. Mabel's decision to create a puppet show distracted her from helping Dipper with the password, and when she was given time to help Dipper, Gabe came back and distracted her enough to give Bill himself enough time to trick Dipper into making a deal with him.

At the same time Gabe was created at distract Mabel, he can also be seen as a visual pun to the deal Bill made with Dipper. Gabe takes the job as a puppeteer, who tends to lie puppets more than any man should.

When trying to convince Dipper to trust him in the deal making process , his claim for wanting a puppet in the first place isn't because he needs one or because he gets bored/lonely in the mindscape, no

the first thing he says when questioned about it is

"Everyone loves puppets!"
