summary: gabe sees a pretty girl in a coffee shop and they both make complete fools of themselves
The streets of Chestnut Hill were busy as the new school year was coming in, college athletes and band kids were running all over town getting ready for early move in while Gabe found himself seeking solace in the quaint coffee shop just a few blocks from campus. He was with some of his friends buying their last minute dorm necessities before splitting up where he decided to get a pick-me-up for the day.
As he walked in he looked around the small shop staring at all of the news articles and medals on the wall all dedicated to the same girl. She looked familiar but he brushed it off taking in more of the building. It was no mystery that the owners of the cafe were hockey fans. From what Gabe could tell they were most likely Montreal fans from the Canadian and French flags hanging around along with a few Habs items laying in places.
It made him feel a bit better moving so far away from home. Possibly living so close to a French-Canadian shop cured a bit of his home sickness reminding him of his family.
Right before Gabe went to get his coffee, a girl from across the room caught his eye. She was wiping down some of the counters and not only was she gorgeous in Gabe's opinion, she had an aura of quiet confidence. Gabe couldn't help but admire her and silently thanked that none of his friends were around to give him a hard time about his obvious fawning.
He tried to take her in as much as possible without looking like a complete creep when the light in his brain went off. Looking at her then looking at some of the articles on the wall he realized it was the same girl. Gabe felt his stomach flip when he finally put his finger on who she was- Elaina Lapointe. She played for the U18 USA girl team the last three years and was rumored to have a captaincy this coming year. Now Gabe wasn't proud to admit it but, he didn't really keep up with women's hockey unless it involved his sister. He had heard about Elaina back in her first year when they almost wouldn't let her play for the US because she was born in Canada. She had made headlines for having to make a speech at 15 on why she was dedicated to play for team USA and then proceeded to make even bigger headlines for the stats she racked up.
Gabe's brain did a short circuit and before he could even think of what he was doing he made his way over to the girl. She noticed him walking and looked at him with weary eyes she started backing up to go behind the counter before Gabe sprung into action. "Wait- you're Elaina Lapointe right?"
The girl just looked at Gabe before speaking up still slowly moving towards the counter "Désolé, je ne parle pas anglais.". Gabe furrowed his eyebrow before it clicked in his head "Oh Êtes-vous Elaina Lapointe?". Now the boy isn't stupid he knows she can speak English but with her pretty eyes staring up at him, he was desperate enough to go along with it.
Right before the girl fully walked away from him she paused. "You know french?" She said in a way that there was no doubt she could speak english- fluent english at that.
The side of Gabe's mouth twitched up "Fluent.". The girls faced paled a bit before she let out a small oh. They both stood in awkward silence for a few moments before Gabe asked again "So.. are you going to answer my question?".
She sat the rag down before staring straight into Gabe's eyes saying "Mm no, never heard of her.". Before Gabe could respond the girl frantically bolted to the back room leaving the boy dumb-founded.
Not only did a pretty girl basically reject him in every way possible, he didn't get his coffee either.

General…
Vee needs girl friends. I need to give Vee girl friends. And no, not girlfriends. Girl friends, with a space. Because there’s a difference.
Main Topic: How many OCs I have
I realize how many guy ocs there are and how little girl ocs I have (NOT LITTLE GIRL BUT LIKE I HAVE A LITTLE AMOUNT YA KNOW. that sounds funky, just had to clear that up)
Like, lemme count how many guy ocs I have.
There’s…
[Auggie], [Reed], [Hille], [Gabe], [Theo], [Jack], [Cage], [Aiden], [Pyrus], [Tobie/Tobias], [Wilson], [Mark], [Benjamin] (whether i like it or not /j i often forget about benjamin because i dislike him that much. but he’s not even as bad as august. like.). + the ocs I rarely ever talk about and that I basically have only mentioned= [Peyton], [Jacob], [Luke], [Miles]. and then [August]. fuck august. i hate august. (as i have said before, there is AUGGIE and there is AUGUST. two different people. auggie is always auggie. august is. august. ya know)
There’s also [Andy] (kind of. they’re pretty non-binary and gender neutral, but everyone calls him a guy. so like everyone uses “he/him”, which he doesn’t mind at all. he’s probably gender fluid tbh, but he hasn’t come out or anything. but really he doesn’t give a damn about pronouns. he was AFAB.)
And [Finch]. [Finch] is non-binary, so I’m not putting them in boys or girls. They are no in-between like [Andy] is.
So that right there is 18 guys.
Now.. girls:
[Vee], [Jenna], [Amy], [Anque], [Ashe] (BEEN A WHILE SINCE I THOUGHT ABOUT ASHE. i love ashe, she’s so fun.), [Iskrauf] (Iskrauf I don’t usually mention much because technically she’s not really in that “universe”, she’s from another world/story that’s super interesting but not written at all yet. darn. i should write it tbh), + the ones I rarely ever even mention= [Vaunne], [Olivia], [Hannah], [Ottilie], [Haylie], [Tori], [Lily], [Abigail], [Ramzie], [Lainey], [Katie], [Elizabeth]
That’s also 18 girls. Yet, only about 5 or 6 of them I talk about. 12 of them I have only mentioned maybe once, twice, or not at all. 9 of those 12 have probably never been mentioned yet. I’ve still thought about them, but rarely. Tbh, they just exist right now.
Eventually I’m gonna need more girls. Also, most of those girls, they either don’t go to RocketSide (the school she goes to) or don’t know/get along with Vee.

#oc#writing#[vee]#vee needs more girl friends#where the girls at#i need female ocs#i have too many guys#is that why they’re all gay /j#← obviously they aren’t all gay but still

¡Mucha Lucha! - Through The Past Backwards (sorta) - Episode 14

I'm changing direction on this and starting at the beginning of season 2, because there were some huge changes between seasons.
As I've mentioned before, we creators were pretty much marginalized during the first season. Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network would trumpet their support for 'creator-driven cartoons' but WB Animation did in no way subscribe to that approach.
But after 13 episodes the series seemed to be losing direction and although it was enjoyable, we sensed Mucha Lucha! was limping towards being 'one (series) and done'. The network - Kids' WB - were also feeling something needed to change, and so Lili Chin and I were summoned to a meeting where we were able to discuss with Kids' WB the best way to move forward in order to help the series achieve its potential.
So for season 2, Kids' WB installed a new story editor, Jim Krieg (I think he came from Scooby Doo) and a new series director, Ken Kessel, who was an industry veteran. A lot of artists who really weren't that into the show also jumped ship onto other WB shows., and they were replaced by new artists like Greg Colton and Ricky Garduno, who went on to storyboard our best episodes. Ace Artist Roman Lainey also joined the team on props and backgrounds, and Jorge Gutierrez contributed character designs. And so after all the dust settled, season 2 got off to a great start with 'Lone Stars'...
Finally, a lucha libre-centric story, with a good set up, good opponent, and a great storyboard by Gabe Swarr. This was followed by another in-ring story 'The Littlest Luchadora'.

So things were looking up...

Sandy Moore stands between “Do Moore, Be Moore recipients Alec and Evan Wick.
The phrase “salad days” describes a season when the taste of life, like the spring garden harvest, is fresh and sweet. My first years of teaching were salad days. I was young and enjoying the moment, living the life and learning my craft. There was the reality of hard work and some heartache and frustration, but I had few cares or responsibilities other than myself. Life was good – or at least fresh and fun.
Shakespeare coined the phrase “salad days” in the tragedy Cleopatra to mean “green in judgement,” and certainly that could be said of me at that time. More broadly the term evokes the light heartedness, vitality and optimism of youth. I think of late spring like that – an idyllic time of freshness, novelty and fun – and I have tried to capture that spirit in my photos.
Memorial Day is one of those salad days. From my youth, I associate the holiday with blue skies and sunny days. My memories are of pleasant walks with family along cemetery lawns filled with colorful displays of flags and fragrant flowers. The cemetery visits were a significant family ritual and history lesson. This year I attended and photographed ceremonies in Herman, Fort Calhoun and Kennard as well as visited and placed flowers on graves of my own relatives in Omaha. I still prefer and often use the old term “Decoration Day.”
The last weekend in May now has added significance because my daughter Erin is now Erin McElroy. She and her husband Declan were married on the Saturday before Memorial Day in a beautiful ceremony in the Fontenelle Park Pavillion in Omaha. While I had absolutely nothing to do with selecting the venue, I grew up on Ames Avenue in Omaha, and the park brings back many childhood memories.
Nothing evokes images of youth and summer more than swimming at outdoor pools. No matter the temperature, kids dive, splash and play. The weather and the water temp was near perfect the week that the Blair pool opened. Unfortunately, a few days later the pool was shut down while a maintenance crew removed shattered glass particles imbedded in paint at the bottom of the pool.
Gateway to The West events and similar summer festivals bring out the kid in many of us. Blair Otte Middle School was the new venue for Taste of Blair and the Blair Area Community Band Summer Concert. Holding the concert in the Otte commons area seemed to be an excellent fit and everyone enjoyed the performance.
While June Jam was again held at The Depot in Lions Park, the revamped park layout is a significant improvement. Kids swarmed the new and relocated playground. Concert goers could see and hear the band while families picnicked and watched their kids swing, slide and climb on the new playground equipment. The park will be even more family friendly when the modern all-season restrooms are completed.
Despite the toasty weather, families filled the sidewalks along the Gateway to the West parade route. Fire trucks spraying water, and parade participants throwing frozen treats to parade watchers proved to be particularly popular for the kids. After the parade, I stopped at the Blair Volunteer Fire Department beer garden for a refreshing beer and bratwurst before watching the kids and fire fighters water fight contests.
I can think of no better example of youthful vitality and celebration than the Kids Triathlon which took place this past Saturday. I have no interest in stats – I have no idea who won or even how many kids took part. I do know that for over an hour I watched kids ages 5 to 15 of all ability levels take part in the challenge and have a great time doing it. I watched a host of volunteers organize, monitor and keep kids safe while family members cheered the kids on.
I also applaud Kids Triathlon organizers for instituting the “Do Moore, Be Moore” award. which was presented to BHS graduates Alec and Evan Wick. The two outstanding and record setting cross country and track athletes have assisted with the triathlon each year since the event was first organized.
“Do Moore, Be Moore” honors recently retired PE teacher and Kids Tri co-founder Sandy Moore. Physical education teacher Kim Leggott said, “The award is based on all things ‘Sandy’, – hard work, kindness, compassion and dedication!”
Spring is at an end, and summer officially begins this Tuesday at 11: 24 PM. I am looking forward to the vacations and summer activities ahead, but I will miss the soft green salad days of spring.

Josh scrunched his face up: Shut up, Gi. I was just making sure everything was straight and it wasn't no issues. That's all.
Oliver laughed: That's what you calling it.
Gabe: My sister told me he was smooth, can't be smooth all nervous like that
Lainey shook her head playfully starting her hair: I missed it. Get who? Marco? Call me if he does anything.
Treasure: I will after I get my hit in.
Melissa: She's not even gonna notice Marco. Her and Josh are gonna be staring at each other all night
That afternoon around 4pm, the women gathered at Mitch's house with Treasure while the men were at Caleb and Hanna's with Josh as they both got ready for Treasure's prom.
Treasure panicked slightly: Do we have enough time? Yall still gotta do my hair, my makeup and get in my dress. And I'm hungry. Prom starts at 6.
Mitch and Charles watched Josh pace around, smiled on their faces.
Mitch: Hey Caleb, you're gonna need new rug. This one's gonna walk a hole in it.
Charles: The nerves are getting to em.
