What exactly is Fusae and Hilal's relationship? I've been looking through the OC tags and I'm interested in the details.

ohhhh boy. where do i start with them.

hilal and fusae were alive in the early-mid 1900s, being childhood best friends due to hilal's ostracization from the proper christian society they lived in for being a closeted gay man. for a long time, they considered each other their only friends, and they weren't quite wrong. as expected, this didn't exactly create the most healthy relationship between them.

hilal died in 1945 after being outed to his community, leaving fusae alone without much of a purpose. the only person who ever loved her was gone; without hilal, what did she have? she died about 30-40 years after, having lived a presumably full life as a doctor. after being reborn as an angel, she reinvented herself, becoming everything she was unable to be in her past life. that is, up to when she reunited with hilal. he welcomed fusae back with open arms, but eventually began to use her for his own plans, molding her into what he saw as correct for a person like her. he considered her the last sliver of good left in the world (and himself, nothing more than a sinner), which led to him becoming angered and envious once she showed any signs of being otherwise; in a fit of rage, hilal broke her halo with his own two hands, forcing her to fall.

nowadays, hilal masks his fury and schemes under the guise of a good christian businessman, with fusae being his right hand man. he's trying to rid her of all her holiness and delusions to create something he thinks as better, while she blindly follows. he believes people like them deserve suffering, after all, and she's just so willing to go along with whatever he wants; he's her best friend, isn't he? hilal knows best. he understands her needs better than she does.

no matter what, hilal's will shall be done.
