No. Sophie LaBelle did NOT draw CP. Sure, she used stock photos of children for references in her diaperfur art, same with most artists when drawing child characters but you never see them accused of endangering children. Also, diaperfur art is not nor ever has been CP. Sophie is a proud member of the Furry community but that does not make her some zoophile child-predator. In fact, the whole idea that Furries are zoophile child-predators is nothing but fear-mongering bile spread by far-right online hate groups in order to demonize one of the most queer-friendly communities on the planet.
Ethel Thurston (of EssenceOfThought) lied about Sophie being a "predator" all because of her personal hatred of her. She lied about Sophie just so she could throw her under the bus to Neo-Nazis just so she could score moral brownie points. Ethel is no hero of the LGBTQ+ community, she will hurt anyone who isn't an assimilationist model minority like her. Hell, she even became a part of the "No Kink At Pride" movement to hurt people like Sophie. Ethel Thurston is a vile right-wing reactionary cosplaying as a woke progressive. Find better role-models.
You say that. But stock footage or not, it's still a thing that is very looked down upon in the furry community when it's treated like a fetish. I find it really weird, but most people are disgusted by it and treat it as CP and you aren't going to change people's mind who think it is. And people are VERY quick to think of you as a person if you are gonna use real kids as a reference for your artwork.
Sophie wouldn't be having this huge infamous reputation. Especially with them admitting about this kink on Twitter among other things.
And lastly, since when did I ever mention or source Ethel in anyway when I made that post talking about Sophie and Mikaila reblogging them? I have never watched any of Ethel's videos. The only times I ever did was people talking about Ethel and having NONE of her bullshit and lies.
And here's the thing I have to tell ya, I STRONGLY dislike Ethel a lot for all the terrible and slanderous crap she's done. So thinking that terrible person is a role model of mine, you are very mistaken pal.
But you are right about one thing, she is no hero at all. For any community for that matter.

The Summer Festival is the year’s greatest holiday, but this year Brolio the traveling musician uncovers foul deeds about to mar it.
Today’s story is the first of two parts of “Songs in the Garden” by Matt Trepal, one of thirteen stories featured in SPECIES: Foxes, published by Thurston Howl Publications, but which is now unfortunately out of print.

I used neuralblender.com to try to produce AI art of @pangur-and-grim 's weasel cat.
Here are my results, in chronological order, rated.
This one is clearly a cat, but also clearly a sad little man. Perhaps it is sad about the wall, which is carpeted in pink shag. It isn't Pangur, but is less disturbing than CATS 2019. I like the jaunty goatee but the eyes haunt me. 3/10
This has the requisite silken weasel texture, those are some lovely locks. I do not like how deflated it looks, or the matted bit of hair on the lower right, but overall, I feel that this does evoke something VERY Pangur-like, and I love the ears and flowing mane. Still, I think this thing may be more of a Thurston. 8/10
Oh dear. Let me describe this. A human-sized white-furred entity ("Pangur") with black forearms and hands is holding down a smaller creature. The Pangur-form is blurry, as though it isn't all present on this plane. The black void of its face is pointed downward at the unresisting creature beneath its hands. Another furry creature looks on, seemingly interested. A different, meaty part of the void-faced Pangur demon has graphically extruded into reality above the scene, and is voiding unfiltered olive oil onto the bed. The person clearly asleep under the covers does not notice ANY of this. I cannot rate this, it would be irresponsible.
Now this is wholesome! I wanted to see if we could evoke Pangur without using her name and behold! We have summoned a relative and a friend... maybe two friends? Whatever. They all look very friendly, though the orange and white fellow seems to have dropped some DNA. What we have here are pretty ordinary ferrets. 8/10
OH!!! The pink wall has reappeared! And you can tell by the signature at the lower left this is glamour photography of a purebred...entity? I know that Pangur has no rings or stripes but this image evokes her length and her peculiar creeping posture, as well as her many legs. Most importantly, this creature is beautiful. I feel it has come closer than any of the others. 10/10
And, finally, I wanted to see what it would come up with for the most direct description I could devise, and what I got were a couple of nice young ladies wearing sheet-ghost costumes for Halloween. The one on the left is also wearing a crown. I don't feel they are horrible in any way. 0/10 for adherence to the prompt, 12/10 for adoptability, these are the most normal animals here.
Thank you all for your time.

From someone who's been there what still feels like recently, I just wanted to say I'm sorry for the loss of your furry baby. Thurson Waffles is a wonderful name for a wonderful cat. Losing a pet is hard so go easy on yourself. And honestly if you need a random stranger to vent or talk to I'm usually around.
First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss, losing a fluffy baby is one of the greatest pains in life, I understand what you're going through as I've lost a fair share of pets in my life. The pain eventually turns into happy memories and the conscience you gave them all the love you could give and the happiest life they could have known ❤️ and if you need someone to talk to, I'm here for you as well dear ❤️
That being said, Thurston wasn't my pet (I understand from my wording on the post it might look like it, I'm sorry about that, I just loved that lil screaming demon so much). Thurston became a meme through Vine in 2013, he is known mostly for this video:
youtube
His dad and mom made a post on his social medias two days ago, informing his loving fans that the shrimp king had peacefully passed 💔
If you want some cute cat videos of a little snowflake demon demanding attention, you can find him on most social medias as Thurston Waffles ❤️
Again, I'm so sorry for your loss, I hope you will find peace soon, and I know your pet loved and still loves you very much ❤️❤️❤️

Hello! I know you’re mostly an otherkin blog, but you seem really well-read and I was hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction. I’m looking for essays/literature on furry culture and fursonas? I know it’s fundamentally different from otherkin ideas, with some community overlap, but I haven’t been able to dig up much information.
We actually do hoard, I mean, collect and read a lot of stuff coming out of the furry fandom.
Not sure exactly what you're looking for but hopefully some of what comes to mind is something of use to you.
If you're looking for academic literature, hands down some of the step papers out there are coming from the FurScience/International Anthropomorphic Research Project people. They're publications list alone is so amazing: https://furscience.com/publications/. Other academics have done studies and published papers but this group have done some of the most extensive research out there.
The published onto their website for free a large pdf-book called FurScience! A summary of five years of research from the International Anthropomorphic Research Project which is a nice overview of a lot of their research over the years. It’s a really nice go-to since some of FurScience's stuff isn't easily downloadable for free online.
If you're looking for non-academic there have been a number of books written by furries about the fandom itself which have been nice. We think the Furriest Among Us series, which are books containing essays about topics relating to the fandom from various people is nice:
Furries Among Us: Essays on Furries by the Most Prominent Members of the Fandom. Nashville: Thurston Howl Publications, 2015.
Furries among us 2: More essays on furries by furries. Lansing, MI: Thurston Howl Publications., 2017.
Furries among us 3: Essays by furries about furries. Thurston Howl Publications, 2020.
There is also Furry Nation by Joe Strike, but while we own a copy we haven't personally read it just yet.
Hopefully, some of that is of use to you if you're wanting published material. If not, please feel free to ask clarify. Also, perhaps some others who see this post have other/better ideas too.

Drag Screams: A Drag-Themed Horror Anthology
Thurston Howl Publications is now accepting submissions for its horror anthology, DRAG SCREAMS.
Deadline: April 1, 2019
Word count: 500 to 6,000 (a little over is fine)
Payment: 1/2 cent per word
Drag and horror have always been close cousins. We’re looking for horror stories centered around the drag community. Drag is a celebration of identity and art and horror is a cathartic release of endorphins and societal scraps. Rocky Horror and Psycho are only a few horror tales with drag-inspired themes that demonstrate a wide range of tone and theme.
We’re looking for diversity to reflect the drag community. We’d like stories not just featuring campy gurls, but also straight queens, drag kings, non-binary performers, fans, artists, etc. As long as they’re in the horror realm, all sub-genres and mash-ups are welcome (comedy, sci-fi, speculative, etc.). Stories don’t need to include sex/romance, but if they do, keep them Rated G to R, and not XXX.
Please note this is a pro-drag collection and anti-drag stories will not be considered. It is also not a furry anthology (although there’s room for fur-themed drag).
We will NOT accept the following presented in a positive light:
- Racism, sexism, or discrimination
- Pedophilia or sex with characters under the age of 18
- Rape, torture, dubious consent, or forced seduction
To submit, email a .doc, .docx, or RTF attachment to [email protected] with the subject “DRAG SCREAMS SUBMISSION – (story title)”. Include the title and word count in the body of the email, along with a brief bio if you so choose.
You can submit up to three stories, but we will only accept one per author (if any). Please no simultaneous submissions.
We will inform all authors regarding decisions within two weeks after the deadline.

Horizon on Hiatus: con season
Sorry, I don't have a Horizon chapter for this week, I only have time to write on the weekends most of the time and usually I only manage 1,000 words a day or so. But I've started to feel a bit burnt out on this pace, I don't think I can keep it up much longer. In addition this weekend I've got both the Furry Writer's Guild virtual convention: Oxfurred Comma, and the local gaming convention Gamehole Con. While next weekend is Aquatifur, where I'll be selling paperback copies of Horizon: Salvaged Heroes. Rest assured, I'll get back to writing Horizon: Rebuilt in a month or so, normally I'd be attempting NaNoWriMo in a couple weeks but I might just chip away at Horizon. The script for Joanna: Ghost Hunter is good for another dozen pages or so, as long as pages keep coming in from Martin it'll continue. I was planning on scripting the next chapter while at Aquatifur. If you're in Wisconsin between October 28th and the 30th feel free to check out my booth at Aquatifur. I'll have all four of my books for sale, plus a few left over from Thurston Howl/Bound Tails.
