February 5, 2024 - Pacific Hornero (Furnarius cinnamomeus) Found in parts of southwestern Colombia, western Ecuador, and northwestern Peru, these ovenbirds live in scrub, pastures, and other semi-open habitats, often near water. They eat invertebrates, including termites, beetles, caterpillars, and snails, and have been observed catching small fish from shallow pools in the dry season. Pairs build enclosed oven-shaped nests from mud on tree branches. Both parents feed the chicks.
