Mirai Komachi (2019) by Bandai Namco (Tokyo, Japan) and Furhat Robotics (Stockholm, Sweden). Mirai Komachi (ミライ小町) is a singing VOCALOID developed by Bandai Namco Studio, Inc. released for Yamaha's VOCALOID4 engine in May 2018. In August 2019, her likeness was used to create an interactive rear-projection robotic head developed by Furhat Robotics. Furhat is a Conversational AI and Social Robotics startup, "giving a human face to robots."

"I felt very comfortable working with Furhat Robotics; it was an amazing process. Every project member was self-driven. And when I met Mirai-Komachi on a Furhat robot for the first time, I was surprised to see that the transformation from 2D into 3D was indeed a viable option. We can’t even imagine it turning out better, Mirai-Komachi looks great! I believe that Furhat Robotics will continue to provide amazing experiences no one on this planet has encountered before.” – Shohei Nakanowatari, manager of the Creative Design Department at BANDAI NAMCO Research, Furhat Robotics and Bandai Namco Research to bring anime characters to life.

Mirai Komachi's in-universe origin story is explosive. "One day at the Bandai Namco Future Research Center, the professor and his helper robots, Q-56 and QC-RO, were working on a project when things go wrong, and an explosion occurs. But from the fumes of that explosion emerges a girl, Mirai Komachi. Despite the circumstances, she calmly asks the professor “Where am I? What year is this? And who are you?” " Her persona is described as a "22nd Century Idol Who Creates the Future with Smiles. A researcher at the Bandai Namco Research Center who came to the past to study life in the 21st century. She’s always brimming with curiosity and is easy to talk to. She loves cats and carrots. Her birthday is February 22, and she is associated with the number 2 a lot. Has some scientific knowledge, though it’s unknown to what extent. When she decides to do something, she gives it her all. A lot is still not known about her, such as where she lives. She would tell the professor a lot, but when she says too much, she would hit him over the head with the “forgetfulness hammer” and cause him to lose his memory." – Mirai Komachi Support Project Begins, by Marumain.
