hello i would like to hear abt isn't it beautiful and monsters in the closet
hi hi hello!!! :D thank you for asking!
okay, so "it's beautiful, isn't it?" is an out-of-context little scene i wrote that takes place in a larger story that STARTED as a warrior cats fanfiction but then i decided to give it more original worldbuilding and move it somewhere else. now it's its own animal fantasy :D i included it as a WIP because it's meant to be part of a larger story, even if i haven't really figured out how it fits yet.
i won't share the whole thing, but here's my favorite part of it:
“Isn’t it beautiful?” they asked again.
He didn’t know what they were talking about, but he knew in his heart the answer they were hoping for. Carefully, he stood to his full height, his expression solemn but sympathetic.
He knew what it was like to grieve, after all.
“It is,” he said. The cat seemed satisfied with that answer, but they offered no more words as they continued to stare at him. He met their eyes without fear, as much as the grief he saw before him threatened to drag him back down into the whirlpool.
“I’m not him,” he said, and then he spoke the cat’s name. The word was strange and alien on his tongue, the syllables unpronounceable for a mortal such as himself, and even as he said the ancient word it faded from his mind. Part of him knew his mind was trying to protect him by forcing him to forget, as much as he desperately wanted to remember.
The other cat turned their head away from him, their hollow gaze once again falling on the water lapping at their paws, at the stars dancing beneath them.
“And isn’t that a tragedy?” they murmured, just loud enough for him to hear.
i didn't know the context of this when i first wrote it, but i do know the context now! that's a secret though ;3c
as for Monsters in the Closet, that's a little thing that i kinda started for fun and i'm not really sure if it's going anywhere, but it's another installment of My Favorite Thing To Write About Is Trauma. it's loosely inspired by this silly found-footage horror show i liked growing up called Lost Tapes. is Lost Tapes good? oh absolutely not, not by any stretch of the imagination. do i like some of the concepts it brings up? yeah <3
so Monsters in the Closet, if it ever happens, would center around a character chasing after monsters and cryptids to try and prove that monsters are real, to varying degrees of success. and because this is me and i love exploring trauma and mental illness in my stories, a lot of it would also center around that! something something monsters and cryptids as metaphors for suppressed grief and trauma <3
also i went looking and i found some concept art i drew for the protagonists of Monsters in the Closet when i first conceptualized it

[Image Description: Two bust drawings of two different characters with pointed ears, labeled Sentinel and Stephen. Sentinel, at the top of the image and looking slightly to the left, is pale-skinned and has shaggy brown hair with dyed orange bangs. They have green eyes and scars across their face. Sentinel is wearing a heart-shaped choker and a black tank top. At the bottom of the image and looking to the right is Stephen, a brown-skinned man with dark spiky hair with dyed red streaks through it. He has blue eyes, a light dusting of facial hair, and three miles on his right cheek. He’s wearing a dark shirt and a light jacket with a furred hood. Information next to both characters state that Sentinel uses they/them pronouns, is 5′6″, and is 19 years old; Stephen, meanwhile, uses he/him pronouns, is 5′10″, and is 21 years old. End ID.]
