Attack on Titan characters and where they would take you on a first date
MDNI 18+ not explicit but sexual encounters implied
Featuring Armin, Jean, Connie, Reiner, Eren, Levi, Erwin, Hange, and Mikasa
Armin:
Bowling! I feel like he cute and awkward and it would just be the two of you but little do you know a few lanes over are all his friends spying because he was sooo excited about getting to know you. He had an extra pair of socks in his car? in case you didn’t wear any so your pretty feet didn’t have to touch the gross shoes! Made out in his car when he dropped you off at your house then walked you to your front door blushing.
Jean:
Taking you to the movies! Total sucker for the yawn & put his arm around your shoulder move. He’s get you whatever popcorn/drink/candy whatever you want. Depending on the movie, if you got sleepy or scared and laid your head on his shoulder and he’d kinda smirk to himself and he thinks he’s got it in the bag. Would try to make out with you in the theater if nobody was there like total teenagers. If reader was willing, definitely would go home with you but would be very respectful to let you know he wants you but doesn’t want to fuck on the first date
Eren
I think maybe a nice walk in a park. On a cold morning and you both bring your dogs after you get coffee at a little cafe his girl friend recommended. He’d give you his scarf if you were cold and I feel like he’d give you the cutest forehead kiss before the most intimate sparks flying kiss on the lips that you forgot it was winter. He wouldn’t end the date until you guys decided when your next date or time he’d see you would be. Second date is dinner at his apartment :)
Levi
I think he’d take you to like top golf or some type of sporting outdoorsy thing? If not top golf maybe a soccer or baseball game? He would help you if you’ve never golfed and like line himself up behind you to show you. He’d “accidentally” brush his lips against your ear/neck to see how you react. Would ask you to grab a drink or something after and would say suggestive things the whole time to watch you blush and squeeze your thighs together! After a few drinks you go back to his nice ass apartment and fuck for hours. You’re attached at the hip after that day and there isn’t even a question about a second date.
Connie
I feel like he’d take you to a basketball game and he’d prepare and buy you a tshirt or jersey ahead of time to change into and then he’d keep telling you how good you look in it <3 he’d ask you if you want to hold his hand & he’d buy you an expensive sports arena drink. You guys end up on the kiss cam and Connie blushes so motherfucking hard you can’t help but giggle. He tells you after that he’s sorry your first kiss was in front of all these people. You have such a good time and neither of you want the date to end so you end up walking around after and back at your place you stay up late all night talking! You make out in between deep conversations and you make popcorn and watch movies. He ends up falling asleep on your couch even though you told him he could sleep in your bed. Sexy ass morning sex and takes you out to breakfast.
Reiner
Study date! Your first date is a little “lame” as other people would put it but you meet him in one of your college courses and he asked you to study biology with him at the library. Asks you for your coffee order ahead of time and brings it to you!! You flirt and giggle a lot while you go over course materials and he walks you back to your apartment after. You tell him you’re ordering takeout for dinner and asks if he wants to join and he does, super lowkey and doesn’t even kiss you. But he does ask for your second date to not be school related
Erwin
Museum or book shop date, something educational! It’s such a cozy vibe and he pushes a piece of hair behind your ear while you’re reading. He asks if you want to meet up with his friends for a happy hour afterwards and thinks it’s funny how polite you are to Hange and Levi. On the walk back to the car he notices you’re chilly and gives you his coat. You end up talking about some book you have and invite him into your apartment to find it. You end up on his lap in a steamy couch make out session but he doesn’t let it escalate even though you want it so bad. He stares so intensely in your eyes and tells you he’s borrowing the book and you will have to see him again to get it back <3
Hange
They ask you to go to a candle making class or some type of crafty workshop. They’re so silly and messy and you both can’t stop laughing. Your pottery/candle/painting whatever you made turns out pretty messed up but you both had fun. They hold your hand as you walk to grab some lunch afterwards. After lunch you go your separate ways and you get a text as soon as you got home saying “can I please see you again?” Hange wouldnt do anything on your first date I feel like but the second date they’re going to kiss you as soon as they knock on your door for the second date.
Mikasa
Asks you to a concert! Some indie artsy person you haven’t heard of at a small venue. She will stand behind you and wrap her arms around your shoulders as you guys sway to the music and she kisses you at the slow songgg. Car sex on the way home. She makes sure like 10 times that you’re okay with it though. She plays with your hair after.
A/N my app is being so stupid so I gave up trying to edit this I’m sorry if there is typos lmaoo

happy birthday!- hange x reader
CHAT!!! its my best friends birthday. i wrote her a little something!! thank you to this sweet angel for being my first friend on this app. and thank you for dealing with me everyday, i love you so bad. make sure to tell my bff hbd and make sure to check out and support her art🥹💝 i love u @hangespublicist
“happy birthday.” you felt hange come from behind you, kissing down your neck.
you giggle, spitting out your toothpaste. “you scared me!” you wash out your mouth, laughing. “hurry! i got a surprise.” hange ran from the bathroom before you could say anything else. your feet padded against the cold floors, entering the kitchen.
before you was hange, posing, showcasing the kitchen island. your favorite cake was laid out, along with wrapped boxes and bags surrounding them. you covered your mouth, shaking your head. “hange.” you say, slowly walking up to them.
“erwin and levi made the cake!” they clapped happily, watching as your eyes teared up. “this is perfect!” you hug hange, kissing them. they smiled into the kiss, before pulling away quickly. as much as they wanted to kiss you forever, but in this moment they were shaking for you to open your gifts. “open, open!” hange grabbed your waist, pushing you towards the table.
you grabbed a bag, slowly pulling out the gifts from inside. “no way!!” you look up at hange. they had gotten you games that you had been eyeing for your console. “next! next!” hange was just so excited. after a few gifts, hange reached over your head, sliding the bag behind them. “you can’t open that one till tonight!” they sheepishly smiled.
after you two got ready, you headed downtown. hange took you to your favorite crystal shop, where you absolutely went insane and bought all the crystals you had been eyeing for a while. hange even got a crystal bowl with your initials engraved at the bottom, along with your anniversary date.
you guys explored downtown and even found a new favorite coffee shop. there were cats inside and it was like heaven for both of you. and hange knew all along you were not leaving that place without a cat you had befriended. you named them miso. and so with that, you and hange walked out of the cafe with your iced chais with soy milk, and a new friend named miso.
and after a long day of shopping, you two found yourselves at home, playing with the cat. three knocks made you look up, letting go of the small toy mouse. “i’ll get it.” hange smiled, getting up.
“happy birthday, nerd.” you heard from your doorway. there stood levi and erwin, with fresh baked goods in their hands. “guys!!!” you jumped around in excitement, hugging them. levi was severely disappointed that his new neighbor was a cat. or so he says. erwin caught him petting the cat.
the four of you sat around the chimney, wine in your glasses and sharing warm pumpkin cream cheese muffins. you all gossiped and laughed, sharing core memories of your college years.
it was getting late. levi looked down at his watch, pushing his knee against hange. hange shyly looked up at him and erwin, biting their lip down. levi gave hange a stare, eyeing you. hange wiped their hands on their pants, standing up.
you snapped out of your ramble, looking up at hange. god, you were so beautiful. hange could get lost into your eyes forever.
hange slowly got down on one knee, slipping a box out of their pocket. your eyes widened, looking straight down at them. your hands covered your mouth, head shaking.
“…you’ve made me the happiest person to ever live. you’re so funny, kind, beautiful, breathtaking and you are just what i needed in my life. i never would have thought someone could sit there for hours and absorb everything i have ever said, yet here you sit in front of me. when i met you, i knew you’d be the one. you had always been the one. and… before i start rambling again, will you make me a mad scientist and marry me?” hange blushed and their corny line, peeking up at you.
you kissed them quickly, digging your nails into the side of their face. “yes!” you smiled against them. erwin happily grinned, holding levi’s hand. “and here’s that gift from earlier.” erwin chuckled. you pulled away, opening the bag.
you looked up at both all of them, pausing at hange. “we are going to paris?” “happy honeymoon, babe.”

The funny thing was it was a shipper that said that about Levi. Like I’m confused do you even like him if you’re saying that?? And to defend their argument they basically said Erwin would have prevented the yeagerists rising up to power, yes. As if Erwin would solve every problem. As if Erwin hasn’t been outmaneuvered before like in the battle to retake Shiganshina. Erwin is incredibly smart but he doesn’t always have all the answers and taking on the rest of the world would be a big task for anyone. But to defend their argument, they’re using a Kamiya Hiroshi interview as proof to why it’s Levi’s fault Paradis became what it did. Since I can’t insert a picture this is word for word what the interview said:
Interviewer: What did you think of Levi’s choice between saving Erwin or Armin in that scene where only one could be saved?
HK: What struck me during the recording was when I was told, “You don’t have to speak to Floch. It’s fine if you just talk to yourself.” Director Mima always said on set, “You have to look at who you’re talking to and think about what happens after you finish your lines (or you’ll die on the battlefield).” There was an option to direct some comforting words to Floch, but they wanted it without that. This direction made me feel that for the first time Levi pushed forward his own feelings, which influenced Floch’s fate and led to a new tragedy. Well, if Erwin had been chosen here, then Eren and Mikasa would have probably ended up in Floch’s position, so either way, it would have likely led to a tragic outcome.
The bolded text is what they highlighted as proof to their argument. The thing is they are completely ignoring the sentence that follows that goes against that. I don’t understand why people take VAs words as canon. I also don’t understand why some people always hold Levi to such a high standard compared to everyone else. And I’m confused why we are thinking that if Erwin lived, Eren would act completely rationally and not enact anything he later did after he lost one of his closest friends
How about the people responsible for Paradis falling to the Yagerists were Eren and Floch? Because those two are the ones actually responsible. Throw Yelena and Zeke in there for good measure. It has nothing to do with Levi.
And of course, I'm not surprised to find out it's a shipper. I'm assuming it's one of those eruri shippers that love to make Levi look bad in order to hold Erwin up, for whatever reason. Maybe because they can't reconcile the notion that, if Erwin was really with Levi romantically, and he didn't share the truth of his motivations behind his leadership with him, regardless of that romantic connection, it would reflect horribly about Erwin's character. It would mean he kept his greatest secret from the man he supposedly loved, and that he didn't trust Levi enough to share it with him. It would show sociopathic tendencies. But if they can paint Levi as this morally compromised, morally ambiguous character, then they can drag him down to that level and say 'see, they're perfect for each other', or some shit. They can pretend that Erwin's withholding of that information from Levi wasn't horrific because Levi didn't care anyway and would have followed Erwin to the ends of the earth, and blah, blah, blah. The problem for them is, Levi DID care. He cared a whole hell of a lot. He cared so much that it nearly destroyed his relationship with Erwin, before he was able to push his disappointment and doubt aside and continue to trust in Erwin, despite his flaws, not because of them. He knew, despite Erwin's human frailties, he was still a good man, deep down, who wanted to do the right thing. He just needed a little help to get there.
Levi wasn't responsible for Floch becoming what he did. The circumstances Paradis was pushed into, through Marley's actions, is what led to Floch's true nature coming out, and, as I said before, Floch's own actions and weakness of mind. To blame Levi for that on any level is absurd. You might as well blame Levi too for Eren becoming what he did because 'oh no, Levi told him to make the choice he'd least regret', or he told him in Shinganshina that it wouldn't be over until their enemies were dead (meaning Reiner and Bertolt). How about we blame Levi too for the Rumbling, because Zeke blew him up and was able to meet Eren and make contact with him? Give me a fucking break. Eren became what he did because that's what he always was. The same for Floch. I don't care what Levi's voice actor, or any other voice actor, has to say. What I care about is the text, what Isayama wrote and what his panels conveyed. Floch was always going to become radical, again, because he was weak of mind and spirit. He was a bad person, in his heart. Someone prone to extremism. A coward and a fool and bloodthristy.
The moment he wasn't killed in the charge against the Beast Titan, we saw the vengeful core of Floch, when he found Erwin, dying on the field, and dragged him up onto the roof, wanting to punish him for leading them into a death charge by forcing him to continue to live and lead. He wanted to make Erwin suffer, just for doing his job, and for leading the rest of the scouts that day to do theirs, something they had willingly signed up for. That tells you all you need to know about what kind of person Floch was. He was cruel and ugly.
And we see that cruelty and ugliness all the more clearly in contrast to Levi's compassion and kindness, in wanting to put an end to Erwin's suffering. The two of them are juxtaposed against one another for this reason.
Levi puts compassion over ideology, and Floch puts ideology over compassion. That has everything to do with who they already were, not with what either of them did or the circumstances surrounding it.
This idea that Levi not offering words of comfort to Floch is what led to him becoming the massive piece of shit that he did is such a joke. No, Floch was already that, long before Levi ever made his choice. Floch joined the scouts only after he thought the hopeless nature of their mission had been overcome and there was only glory to be found, and his anger and resentment and hatred came to the fore when he realized that wasn't the case, that he wouldn't be able to reap all the rewards of being a soldier in the most dangerous branch of the military while remaining safe and unthreatened.
Everybody loves to blame someone else for the way things turned out or the radical, bad actions certain characters took in AoT, but ultimately, every character is responsible for their own actions. Nobody is responsible for what Eren did but Eren himself. Nobody is responsible for what Zeke did but Zeke himself. Nobody is responsible for what Floch did but Floch himself. The circumstances and environment may have put them in a position to act out their true desires and natures, but the circumstances and environment didn't put those desires or nature in them. That's just who they always were. That's true about every, single character in AoT.
These idiot shippers love to use these meaningless interviews by voice actors as "evidence" that their ship is real, or that their interpretation of the text is right. But the voice actors are only interpreting the text themselves, with their own, biased view influencing that interpretation. It doesn't mean anything. It has no bearing on objective reality. It's just a personal reading. The scene where Levi tells Floch that Erwin deserves to rest, and Kamiya being directed to have Levi talking to himself instead of "comforting" Floch, that in itself is a personal interpretation by the director of the text. It's not objectively true to the text itself. And even if it was, it still wouldn't serve as proof that that was the moment Floch became radicalized. Again, Floch was always going to become radicalized, because he was always a shitter.
The only thing that would have stopped Floch from becoming radicalized that day is if Floch had died with the rest of the scouts that charged the Beast Titan. It's too bad his joke ass didn't.
And finally, Erwin couldn't have stopped the Yeagerists from taking over Paradis. There's nothing he could have done to change the course of events. Floch wanted Erwin to suffer. He thought Erwin would be the "monster" they needed in order to "win" against the enemy. But what would Floch's reaction have been had Erwin not become that heartless monster he wanted, willing to stamp out all of humanity for the sake of one island? Either Erwin would have been willing to do what Eren did, or he wouldn't. He either would have become extreme and led Paradis down a path of militarization and nationalism, or he wouldn't. And if he wouldn't, Floch would have turned elsewhere, because that's what Floch was gunning for, long before Levi ever made his choice. And we know, already, that Erwin never would have supported such a course of action. And so Floch would have, like he did in canon events, turned to Eren and helped facilitate his plans. He would have believed Erwin was no longer what he wanted or needed. Erwin wasn't a monster. Eren was. Beyond that, if anyone tries to argue that Erwin's skill as a negotiator and politician would have allowed the Survey Corps to convince Marley to stand down, no, because Eren didn't allow the Survey Corps to even try. He disappeared before the scouts could even attempt negotiations. Erwin being there wouldn't have changed any of that. It all would have played out exactly the same way.
Anyway, the entire claim is a joke. Some Erwin stans are massive assholes who can't admit that Levi was a morally superior person to him. But he was and he is. Levi, ironically, encapsulated what the Survey Corps was meant to stand for more than Erwin ever could. That's why Erwin entrusted Levi with making the decision, ultimately. Because he knew Levi would do the right thing, even as he himself couldn't, and he was grateful to Levi for that, because he wanted to do the right thing. Like I said, Erwin wasn't a bad man. He was just flawed.
Floch was a bad man. He was weak, and just like Zeke, just like Eren, just like Yelena, that weakness is what allowed all those bad qualities in them to take control and dictate their actions.
They have no one to blame but themselves, let alone a truly good man like Levi.

𝐇𝐄’𝐒 𝐎𝐅𝐅 𝐋𝐈𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐒
: ̗̀➛ word count: 12.5k
: ̗̀➛ pairing: levi ackerman x reader
: ̗̀➛ notes: yep, i’ve decided that i’m gonna turn this in to a series. again, this is all satire, so no cringey bits will be written bc i can’t with the second hand embarrassment, lol
: ̗̀➛ summary: you gather your two best friends' opinions about your new crush, and while commandant shadis has a few things to say, too, you find yourself introduced in a sticky predicament.
previous chapter :) next chapter :)
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・
“you could have had a crush on anyone. anyone, y/n, and you chose captain levi?”
the much taller boy with ash brown hair did not look impressed. in fact, the more he frowned, the more he looked like a horse that had been foolishly lead to a suicide charge by commander erwin himself. it was funny, amusing, and satisfying to see, but it wasn’t doing you any favours in terms of support.
jean kirstein was a hater anyway. your best friend, yes, but also your number one hater. you could always count on him to point out your flaws in almost everything; that didn’t mean that you didn’t do the same to him. you gave just as good as you got, it was a mutual thing and although it could get annoying, it was fun. he understood your humour, he just didn’t encourage it, choosing to watch from the side-lines as you embarrass yourself time and time again (‘the one form of entertainment we can get here during training’, he would always say).
“i’m gonna pursue him,” you declared, overwhelmed with pride at your marvellous decision.
jean’s eyes widened significantly. he had been previously practicing the way he would throw more effective punches, but had come to a halt when you had said exactly that, nearly tripping over his own feet. what a dramatic bitch.
“of all the stupid things you’ve done and plan on doing,” began jean, pupils dilating, “this has got to take the cake. what the fuck?”
“wanna know my plan?” you asked, ignoring the way his eye twitched in irritation.
“no.”
“silly jean,” you chortled, “thinking i’d stop just because you said so.”
“you asked if i wanted to know!”
“and i’m telling you anyway.”
jean looked over your shoulder, forming the most expressionless look you had ever seen in your life. he was almost as monotoned as the captain you had grown to be fond of, but not really there yet.
and just who was he making that face at?
it was because of you, yes, but it was like he was silently communicating with the third party of your little group: marco bott.
marco bott, the most purest being inside the walls, would agree with you. you know he would, because even if there were a chance that he wouldn’t, he’d never actually voice that. he wasn’t jean, and he would never try to upset you. he was way too caring of other people’s feelings so you had tried to corrupt him many times, but 1. jean was always there to stop you, and 2. marco bott was literally an angel in disguise. there was no corrupting him when he was so innocent and righteous. eventually, you gave up: one can only be persistent for so long.
“eff you, jean,” you cursed, turning around to face marco instead, watching as he pulled a fallen leaf out of his dark hair. “marco, what do you think? i can pull him, right?”
marco smiled sheepishly. if you didn’t know any better, you’d think that marco disagreed with you... but that simply could not be it. marco would never, unless —
you swivelled on the spot, only just about catching jean moving from some action he seemed to have been making when your back was turned, his gaze now stupidly set directly at the sun hovering above you all, and fingers stroking his long chin.
“why are you corrupting him?” you demanded angrily. “that’s my thing!”
“i wasn’t corrupting him, you psycho,” argued jean, now blinking rapidly after ripping his gaze away from the blinding light. “and even if i was, you’re such a hypocrite.”
“jean —”
“he wasn’t corrupting me,” marco interrupted gently. when you looked at him over your shoulder, you could see that his ears had turned pink. the mother fucker was lying.
“marco butt,” you stated, silently fuming.
“it’s — it’s bott —”
“well maybe you should change it to b-u-t-t.”
“no.”
“yes.”
“no.”
“please?”
“no.”
“see, now you’re just playing favourites,” you said, rolling your eyes as you gestured to Jean, who was still frowning. “if jean had suggested it —”
“yeah but i would never,” the horse interrupted, pacing, “i’ve got double the brains you have.”
“yet you still can’t figure out a way to get mikasa to even look at you.”
jean looked visibly taken aback by your response, standing up straighter and scowling.
“why would i want her to look at me?” he demanded, continuing to pace. only, the speed at which he walked and turned had increased notably. both you and marco had noticed, glancing at one another for just a split second before hiding your grins.
you also noticed the way his strides had lengthened: jean had never told you or marco about his small crush on mikasa ackerman (the girl who was at the top of the class for eveything) but the two of you already knew — the poor guy would blush over the smallest of interactions with her every once in a while. too bad mikasa wouldn't even spare him a single glance.
you chose to put the teasing to a pause for now (making a mental note in your head to bring it up later) because you still needed to tell your two best friends about your master plan.
“whatever,” you hastily said, looking at marco once more. the boy was trying to actively avoid your gaze; what an idiot, thinking he could scramble away from your clutch. “captain levi’s in the scout regiment.”
at that, both of your friends stopped dead in their tracks. usually, marco would remind you and jean to keep moving (nobody wanted to go deaf in the ears when commandant shadis would scream about how you maggots were slouching off) but this time, he had stopped moving altogether, not even scolding jean for doing the same.
you wondered if you had said something wrong.
well, arguably, everything that came out of your mouth was something the two constantly opposed, but this seemed different.
maybe it was the way marco’s eyes were wide open in a silent whisper of ‘you shouldn’t’, maybe it was the way jean’s feet were practically planted into the ground with shock, or maybe it was the way the two were unwilling to even look at you that made you slowly begin to understand what that traumatised look on their faces were because of.
you had almost completely forgotten that both marco and jean were competing with everybody else to be part of the military police brigade: marco ranking seventh and jean ranking sixth. when the faction selection part would come soon, they would be joining the mps whereas you would be joining the scouts. they seemed to have figured it out all on their own.
“you’re joining the scouts?” jean had asked after the awkward silence had passed. you didn’t even get a chance to answer before he continued. “what, are you telling me that your master plan is to turn in to that suicidal blockhead? you've got a death wish!”
you knew who he meant. close friend of mikasa's, eren jaeger had been hellbent on joining the scouts since day one of the training corps. jean and eren had quite the tendency of butting heads every once in a while. where it had once been amusing to watch, the consistency of the arguments over basically nothing had become tiring.
as much as you wanted to joke around with jean about this, you could easily tell from the way his brows were creasing that he was dead serious.
“no,” you told him, “how will i ever get to be with the captain if i die?”
“you’re signing yourself up for death with the thought of joining the scouts,” replied jean bitterly.
“oh?” you questioned, eyes narrowing dangerously. “and you’ll spend your life living instead by signing yourself up for the mps, abusing your power, living in the interior with a lavish life while the scouts and the garrisons actually get something done.”
“that won’t be me,” stated jean, voice becoming more stern as he stared at you. “when i join the mps, i’ll actually use my power for good.”
“yeah, you tell me how many mps have said that before actually joining. name one.”
guys,” started marco, voice shaky as he stepped between you two; you had not realised how close you had gotten to jean in the heat of the moment, "i think we should continue training before —"
“i’ve never met them or spoken to them,” said jean, cutting through marco as if he had not heard the dark-haired boy speak. as a result, marco looked disappointed. "but you have. you could name —"
“nile dok. that’s gonna be your future commander, right?”
“what’s wrong with that?”
“you can’t argue that the mps are working for good if you have him you’re working under.”
“you’re just salty that commander erwin smith lost his girl to him —”
“that has got nothing to do with this!” you snapped, wanting to wipe the stupid twitch in jean’s lip. he found your anger amusing. “don’t you dare talk about poor commander erwin like that when you lost mikasa to eren —”
“what has any of this got to do with that?” roared jean, exhaling deeply through his nose. his pale cheeks had warmed. “and i don’t even like her!”
“jean...” began marco nervously.
“and that means nothing because you lost captain levi to nobody!”
you gasped, scandalised as marco muttered your name. how dare you? you thought in your head, opening your mouth to clap something witty back, only to be interrupted by the bellowing in your left ear.
“CADET L/N!”
you turned your head, ear ringing at the loud voice, and lo and behold, commandant shadis looking as angry as ever, the wrinkles pulling on each side of his eyes with the furrowing of his dark brows. commandant shadis and you had never gotten along. when you had first joined the training corps, it seemed that the commandant had it out for you because from that day onwards, he had made you a target, one to shout at and reprimand every second of the day.
of course, you were not completely innocent yourself. sometimes you would get a rise out of him intentionally.
“is there a reason as to why you maggots are slouching?” you didn’t even get an answer out before he hurried on to say, “do something!”
you did not need to be told twice. what jean had said previously about you and captain levi stung, so without a second thought, your right arm swung up and clashed against his cheek, leaving a red hand print on the side of his face. his head snapped back in place in fury.
“what the fuck?”
“you deserved it!”
“you —”
“c’mon then mp, what’re you gonna do, huh? arrest me?”
“what?”
“or are you gonna steal captain levi from me like nile dok stole marie from erwin smith?” you questioned sharply. jean looked bewildered beyond any confusion you had ever seen on him before, but you did not care. “repeating history, right? well i know better than erwin, and i’m gonna pursue —”
“l/n,” said a low voice from your right.
if you hadn’t turned your head to see who had interrupted your very important speech, you would not have believed anybody if they had told you that the person who had uttered your name so quietly and calmly was commandant shadis. that man was anything but calm, and never once had you ever gotten such a nice word from him, even if it was just your name that hadn’t been screamed at you. commandant shadis seemed surprised with himself too, but sighed tiredly instead of correcting himself.
“my office,” he said, now growling. your brows were knitting together, bemused. “i’ve got a bone to pick with you.”
and then he turned on the spot, giving you a clear view of the lines at the back of his head. now that you could see it up close, you realised how it looked very much like a face. is that how he always knows when one of us aren’t training? he’s got eyes at the back of his head...
you hadn’t realised how long you had been staring for, and it wasn’t even a pleasant sight to be daydreaming over. only when he stopped walking, turned around, and sent you a vicious glare did you straighten up, palms becoming sweaty.
oh fudge, i’m caught.
“l/n,” he began (again, oddly tranquil). you held your breath. “MOVE!”
“yes sir,” you said obediently, not even waiting a single second before jumping on the spot and hurrying to catch up with him, ignoring the laughter rising from around you.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・
fucking eyebrows smith.
the walk to commandant shadis’s office was awkward and incredibly uneasy. you took your time walking a good distance away from him so to onlookers, it didn’t look like you were in trouble (again). although you should have known that you were walking with a man who screams for a living, so being sneaky like this would only result in him bellowing at you again (‘WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING, SCUM?’), ruining your entire plan as you kept your head hung with annoyance (‘okay, i am right here, you do not need to yell’), which earned another load of spit flying over to you when he began screaming again.
so now you were sitting in his office, seething silently about not him, keith shadis, but the devil in disguise, the blonde brainiac, the mind flayer, the blonde brute, the leader of the scouts, commander erwin smith. the mother fucker betrayed you.
well, not like he had not said that he would be informing shadis about you, but still. partners in crime wouldn’t do that to each other, but arguably, it looked more like a one-sided partner in crime type of relationship. erwin smith just seemed exhausted with the way you listened to nobody but yourself and somehow managed to put up with you for as long as he did - which isn’t too long, in your defence.
commandant shadis’s office was much smaller than the one you had been in previously (the traitor’s office). with a desk at the very centre of the room rather than the back, with floors made of wood rather than the easy tiles, with a bookshelf that had gathered an eye catching amount of dust, shadis’s office looked as though it were made for him, with nothing out of the ordinary. the guy even had a mega phone standing at the top of his drawer in the left corner (whatever for? he shouts just fine without it).
“you know why we’re here,” shadis began, clearing his throat and staring at you. the way his face looked, you knew that if you were seeing him in a dark alleyway, you would run the other way immediately. he had a natural scary look that many of the other higher ups did not possess.
you did not respond. what was there to say, after all? ‘yes, i’ve had this chat with the traito- erwin smith already’ and then risk getting shouted at, or ‘yes, i know’ and risk getting shouted at again? erwin’s backed you in to a corner with this, the backstabber.
“how many times have i told you to mind your own. damn. business?”
he’s not screaming?
well it looked odd. the many times you had been called out of training to get lectured by him, none of them ever had an occasion where he never raised his voice. this was extremely peculiar.
“twenty seven times, sir,” you answered honestly, because you had been counting since last month. when shadis raised a brow at you, looking almost speechless, you corrected yourself. “oh, you’re right. it was twenty eight, sorry.”
his confused look turned in to a sneer.
“that’s not why i was —” he started, growing aggravated. he closed his eyes and shook his head. “never mind. why did you do it?”
“do what?”
“you know what.”
“i don’t really —”
“i’m losing my patience, cadet.”
you sighed, feeling something hot by your abdomen.
“yeah, and i’m losing my patience. oh.. i also really need to do something you won’t be happy about.”
shadis looked as though he wanted to grab the megaphone and scream in to it. you frowned as you awaited his long overdue response.
“i am assigning you to stable duty,” he informed you, rolling his eyes when he saw the enraged look that had called itself home on your face. you bit back a witty response, your sharp tongue beginning to hurt at the repression. “and you’re doing laps till the sun sets, no pause.”
the way in which he said this made your stomach churn even further, the unsettling feeling in your abdomen remained.. and perhaps increased at his statement. you exhaled heavily, leaning back in the uncomfortable chair you were sitting in (the corps really need to use some of that money they get on comfortable seats for fuck’s sake) and clasped your hands together, both elbows resting on the arms on your seat.
oh no, i don’t feel too good..
“well you leave me no choice,” you told him, standing up and walking towards the door a large distance behind you.
“what?“ you heard him mutter, but you really did not want to suffer the experience of getting yelled at for what you were about to do, so leaving without a single glance over your shoulder would be the best option, you had decided. “cadet l/n, sit back down.”
you turned to face him, monotoned and straight faced.
“sir, i really need to step outside for this —”
“cadet l/n!” shadis started, standing up from his seat as you turned away, reaching for the door knob. he wasn’t exactly screaming, but it was closer to it than ever. “are you — get back in here right now!”
you stared at him through half lidded eyes. why would this man just refuse to listen to you? you were doing this for his benefit.
“please sir, i have to leave —”
“what is the meaning of this?” he asked seriously. “you think you’re so special you need to take a step outside and come in when you’re ready? with that attitude, you’ll be titan meal before anyone else in the corps!”
“no, please, sir —”
“you are not leaving!”
“fine, don’t say i didn’t warn you.”
your stomach churned once more, a final time, the last time before you felt the gas travel down and.. poof..
the silence was deafening, almost too loud for you to bare. it wasn’t uncomfortable, and you carefully watched shadis as the irate look on his face remained, teeth gritted and jaw clenched. your eyes travelled up to his nose when you saw it twitch, and then his nostrils flared: once.. twice.. a third time, before..
“CADET — L/N!” he all but roared, stretching out the last couple of letters of your name as the sound of his palm slapping against his nose and mouth came, louder than any silence you had the unfortunate luck of baring.
“that’s gonna leave a mark tomorrow,” you mumbled, leaning back in disgust.
if he heard you, he didn’t give any indication that he cared, for he pointed at the door, fingers shaky, a silent order for you to leave.
the smell couldn’t have been that bad. god, men are so dramatic, you concluded in your head. well, the smell wasn’t as bad to you anyway.
it smelt like raw meat that had been freshly cut and butchered, a hint of bad eggs and offed milk was evident; it seemed to have reached every single inch of the room, including all the corners. the plant that sat on his window sill, you could have sworn you saw one of its leaves droop slightly lower. the plant was probably a male too, dramatic-ass bitch.
it was a fart, it really wasn’t that bad. and that was what you smelled, so perhaps it was worse for the victims of it rather than the owner?
you scrunched your nose up at the thought as you rubbed your stomach.
“i probably shouldn’t have had the eggs for breakfast..”
“LEAVE!” shadis ordered, waving frantically at the door.
his tanned skin had turned a nasty shade of crimson, darker than when eren would pick a fight with jean and steam would flow out of his ears with every punch he sent.
“i told you but you chose not to listen to me,” you informed him, actually stepping further in to the room.
shadis took note of this and began yelling at the top of his lungs, a new form of colourful vocabulary even nile dok hadn’t showed you. interesting.
commandant shadis ran to the window, shaky hands trying to pry it open. you watched him, shaking your head at his obvious stupidity. before you could get a single word in, however, he was ordering you to leave again.
“GET — OUT!”
“no,” you answered back, defiant. “you’re really confusing me you know. when i say i want to leave, you tell me to stay. when i say i don’t want to leave, you tell me to leave. everyone says it’s women that are confusing but oh my gosh, men are just something else!”
as your speech continued (and turned in to a rant) shadis was trying to punch open his window - a stupid move, again, men - as well as try to intervene.
“i will stay in this room and i am not leaving because i know that when i leave — no, don’t interrupt me, i’m speaking — when i leave, you’ll tell me to come back in!”
“WHY WON’T THIS —” he gags “— WINDOW — OPEN?”
commandant shadis begins to wrap a veiny hand around his throat, bent over and breathing out heavily, exhaling as much as he could, but it looked as though it was only worsening things, because he had no choice but to inhale the air right back in again.
he looks up, eyes bloodshot, and you felt like a prey staring at the predator who was about to devour you whole.
“THE DOOR!” he shouted, pointing again.
you turned around, agonisingly slow. what a predicament to be in. he wanted you to open it? or keep it closed? you think you know the answer deep down, but then again, you did warn him, and he willingly chose not to heed it.
“oh don’t worry, sir,” you said, walking over to the door and holding the lock. his eyes widen in.. fear?.. when you switch it. “it’s already locked now. you were saying?”
you seemed to have pissed shadis off to the point where he was now stomping towards you, and each clash of his boot against the wooden floor was only a count down to the distance being closed between you two.
he’s going to ki-
ah fuck!
shadis, now positively fuming, did not hesitate to grab at your hair, pulling hard as he dragged you over to the door which he unlocked with his free hand, striding out and walking down the dimly lit corridors, seething.
“ow — okay, wow — ow!”
“quiet, scum!”
“okay, i would like this hair pulling thing in other circumstances, but you’re being really aggressive right now — ouch!”
in response, shadis simply pulled on your hair harder, and you could have sworn you felt him rip a few strands out. you sigh angrily as the two of you take an abrupt turn to the right, closing in on the mess hall.
“ow!” you hissed, holding onto the wrist that was attached to the hand gripping on to your hair for dear life. “ugh, i brushed through my hair this morning too! you’re gonna get it tangled, you know?”
shadis merely grunted. you were beginning to get irritated.
“never mind, you don’t know. you literally have no hair on your head,” you snapped, trying to free your poor hair from the older man’s clutches. “are you trying to rip it off and glue it on your scalp or something? it’s too — ow — tight! if you wanted me to donate hair to you, you should have just asked!”
and before you knew it, you found yourself being pushed on to the ground, knees scraping hard against the floor. you felt the fabric of your pants tear, and you winced as your hands took a nasty slap to the ground too. you exhaled heavily, looking over your shoulder to see where the bald bastard that did this to you was.
he was exactly where you expected him to be, but in a position you had not expected him to be in: doubled over with his hands gripping on to his kneecaps, sweat beading at his lined forehead, exhaling and coughing uncontrollably. damn, did your fart stink that badly?
why was he being so dramatic? it was literally a bit of bad gas, did he expect you to hold it in? there was absolutely no way you were going to do that, especially not when your mother had warned you about how unhealthy that was. you would be extremely foolish to just ignore her advice; knowing this, you did not regret how all this played out.
a faint cough was heard from beside you, and as you turned so you were sitting on your bottom, held up by your elbows, you looked up to see your fellow comrades, all watching you with wide eyes, some snickering and some looking confused, others looking as though this was long time coming.
you weren’t given the chance to wave or say hi to them, because shadis had cruelly snatched that opportunity away from you, exploding at you in a way that everyone (as well as you) were not used to. if you had him pissed before, he was indignant now, eyes white with rage. shadis looked as though he had aged a hundred times faster, glaring daggers at you. now if looks could kill..
“NEVER, IN MY —”
you shut your eyes, blocking out the cursing because you were still a child.
“— YEARS OF BEING IN THIS —”
you censored it again.
“— PLACE, HAVE I EVER MET SUCH A —”
you opened your eyes, but shut them immediately when you took sight of his face.
“— GIRL, WHO HAS BOTHERED ME TO THE POINT WHERE I’VE HAD TO ENDURE SUCH A —”
well now that was just rude.
“— STENCH LEAVE YOUR USELESS, DIRTY ASS —”
and then you found yourself smiling. why? you didn’t know either, but the way he was yelling at you was rather amusing, with his face twisting in ways you never thought could be even possible..
oh shit.
he caught on.
his eyelids were now completely out of sight, a small twitch in his left eye could be seen from where you were laying. your amazing art of rendering people speechless once more had begun again; a sense of pride swelled inside your chest like fairy dust in an old wives’ tale.
“why,” he began lowly, dangerously, calmly, “are you smiling?”
well you were honest all the way up until this point. what was the use in lying? you know you’ll end up in the stables either way. might as well own it.
“why aren’t you shouting?” you replied innocently. and it wasn’t an act, you did sound innocent the way you posed the question, and you weren’t guilty at all.
commandant shadis inhaled through his nose as if testing to see whether the air was fresh enough for him to breathe in - you didn’t blame him, because your previous gas releasing act must have traumatised him.
a vein was now protruding at his forehead, begging to burst through. he opened his mouth once more but you hurriedly raised a finger at him to halt.
“careful, i like it when people shout at me.”
it wasn’t silent anymore. you could hear gasps, whispers and murmurs surround you. you even heard a faint ‘oh god’ and a grumble of ‘are we really that surprised?’ from somebody too.
the air was thick, now. you felt hot. you had never had the unfortunate event of ever feeling embarrassed but you just revealed a very bad kink to everyone, the people you will be training with for another couple of weeks before you part.
technically, you had previously blindly told people about your weird desires, but in front of every single person in the 104th? in front of your commandant? to your commandant? that was new.. and you knew you had taken it too far..
.. for the man was now struggling to take deep breaths, and wow, you know this will never die down. the eye twitch of his had increased significantly, his fists were clenched at his side, as was his jaw, and the lines on his forehead only became more and more prominent as his brows knitted together to move further down his face. the glare his dark eyes had on you did not force you to waver, but the small smile your own face had claimed had dropped ever so slightly. you wondered whether the face at the back of his head was angry, too.
now a string of curses were leaving his mouth, threats of laps until your heart stops beating were given, and the strides to grip you by your arm had begun. at least he’s not after my hair this time, you thought, sighing as he pulled you up, his blunt nails digging in to the fabric of your jacket and no doubt leaving half moon crescents in to your smooth skin.
you remained stubborn, trying to keep your body as heavy as stone to stall for time, your eyes scanning each face frantically to look for the two people you needed most. at last, after passing over many, many people (including connie, who was struggling to breathe with laughter, sasha, who had taken this as a disturbance and used it as a master plan to steal food off of her friend’s plate, reiner, who was now sweating due to god-knows-what, conflicted again, probably) you found them: jean and marco, both sitting together at your usual table.
you noticed how there was an extra plate across from them, filled with food and by your usual seat. the sweethearts had loyally saved your place.
when jean caught your eye, his face remained expressionless and bored, giving you a ‘seriously?’ kind of look. marco was watching carefully, and every time you made eye contact, he looked away, bashful.
“jean!” you called out over shadis’s loud cursing. all eyes turned to him, but jean did not change his expression in the slightest. “help me — ow!”
your friend watched as you struggled.
“i’m not getting you out of this one,” he told you, your heart dropping at the betrayal.
you thought you had heard him wrong, perhaps it was the fact that shadis was quite literally screaming in your ear that you missed what jean had actually said, so you repeated yourself desperately.
“jean — come on — ouch, can you stop pinching me!”
this time, jean did not respond.
your worries were put to a momentary end when jean stood up. key word: momentary.
he stood up, to help you.. you felt elated, making a mental note to drop the teasing about his small crush on mikasa, only to find yourself confused.. and disappointed at last. he wasn’t going near you at all. he had walked around the table, took what was meant to be your plate, and passed it to sasha, who hungrily took it with no hesitation.
“she won’t be coming back anyway.”
your gaze hardened, face becoming stony as you glared at your friend. when i’m out of this man’s grip, you threatened in your head, just you wait.
so fine, if he wouldn’t help you, then your more loyal friend would. you averted your gaze to marco, who was shaking his head slowly at that human horse’s actions. trust marco to lecture him about this, thank the walls.
“marco!” you called out as a final resort.
what happened next must have been a dream, for marco acted as though he had not heard you. fair enough, perhaps shadis’s voice was ringing in not only your ears, but everyone’s. you’ll call him again.
“marco!” you repeated.
he looked up. finally.
but the kind features on his face, that welcoming look he usually always had diminished instantly, as if it was never his to begin with. he looked down at his half empty plate, poking at his potato.
“yeah.. erm.. i don’t know who she is,” he said, and connie’s laughter only increased at that.
wow.
marco was pretending that you guys weren’t friends, acting as though you didn’t train together nearly every day, faking the fact that you would spend nights picking on jean together (well, that was mostly you, but he was a witness). marco was betraying you too.
you take every word you thought about marco back. he wasn’t an angel, he was a manipulative bitch.
helpless, you felt yourself finally fall limp in shadis’s grip, being dragged away to your doom (which, you notice, is the pathway to the stables).
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・
“okay you don’t need to hold me, i can walk!” you protested sharply, shaking your arm firmly out of commandant shadis’s iron grip.
he was not impressed, and said absolutely nothing as he dug his nails in to your arm to drag you across the training field.
the heat of the sun was only just beating down on you, covering your once-cool-neck in droplets of sweat. your head felt hot and you knew that if you laid a hand on it, you’d just fry your palm; it did not feel pleasant at all. your feet were only dragging along the grass, you were trying to plant them in to the floor in (what you thought was) a sly attempt to lengthen the journey to the stables where you knew you’d be spending all day in, cleaning horse shit.
“move,” grunted shadis under his breath.
“would it kill you to ask nicely?” you grumbled back, quickly growing irritated with the situation.
“i’m not asking,” responded shadis, teeth gritted, “and the last time i tried being nice, i ended up inhaling a form of gas i shouldn’t have.”
“but —”
“god, have some self control,” sighed shadis exasperatedly, pushing you along.
“hey, now that i think about it,” you began, ignoring the way the man so rudely sighed (and he was exaggerating too), “you didn’t react nearly as badly as you did with sasha when she farted —”
“because i didn’t fall victim to it,” he answered, as the stables where the horses were kept grew closer and closer with each step. “it was probably you anyway.”
should i be offended or proud? you thought to yourself idly, as the sun smiled down maliciously at you.
small beads of sweat were now making themselves comfy on your soft skin; it did not help that the man’s grip on you never faltered once, and this act alone caused your attempt at breaking free to flee. he was breathing down your neck, harsh breaths through his nose that only added to the ridiculous heat of today. you looked around, eyeing the colossal trees as the wind playfully ruffled their leaves, the sound of nature blissfully meeting your ears in a bird song.
the area around you was growing darker as you were forced to march upon the grass, protected by the shadow of the same trees you were gazing at only moments ago. the coolness of the shade as the sunlight fell away was refreshing, like a bottle of ice cold water after training till your legs cramped up and your knees gave in. but something was off, you realised, as you stared up at the sky (a ridiculous decision seeing as the sun was not playing hide and seek with the clouds as it used to do). you were blinded momentarily, spots of green, blue and yellow clouding your vision wherever you looked.
despite this, however, your ears took charge, just as sharp when a twig snapped by the woods. you looked over your shoulder - ignoring the commandant’s grumbling - and foolishly looked around as if the spots weren’t preventing you from seeing much. there was something by the trees, you concluded wisely, brain working like commander erwin’s (well you assumed it did, because that man always looked like he was plotting some complicated shit).
it couldn’t be the cadets because they were all either in the mess hall, or their rooms. some were walking around the training field you had only just been dragged across, and the woods were out of bounds unless it was odm training season.
and then you saw it.
‘it’, because you didn’t know what it was.
a swift movement, so fast, you knew your eyes with normal vision wouldn’t have been able to comprehend it. a movement so agile, even mikasa on full speed gas wouldn’t have been able to compete with it (maybe a close call, but definitely not close enough to beat it). a movement so rapid, you might have even imagined it. a movement that was.. green?
and then there was nothing.
you shrugged it off for more than one reason: as the wooden, dented doors to the stables approached closer than ever, you didn’t hear a thing again. your normal vision was back again, so if must have been the colours that messed with your head. besides, it wasn’t unusual to hear things by the woods, like a twig snapping or the casual crunching of leaves that had fallen from the end of a tree trunk.
you swallowed down the dreadful feeling you were beginning to get - not because of the sight you thought you’d seen earlier, but because you were now forced to clean up horse poo because of the simple fact that you had passed gas.
it didn’t even bother you that the entirety of the 104th know this absurd fact. what bothered you was that you were now at the punishment everyone strived to avoid. even laps till sundown felt more appealing to do than this.
so as you (at last) finally reached the doors of the stables, pushed forward by your shoulders as you scrambled to regain your balance, you turned around to foolishly make a compromise.
“c’mon, commandant, you know i don’t have to do this,” you tried, wincing at the glare he was now sending you.
“my decision is final,” he grunted harshly, “never been more sure in my life.”
he made a small movement to turn.
“wait, wait!” you tried again loudly, swallowing a load of nothing as he side eyed you menacingly. perhaps now wasn’t the best time to piss him off even more.. so, sighing, you shake your head, a frown appearing on your face. “nothing.”
“thought so,” grunted shadis, turning his head the other way in a matter-of-fact type of manner. “up to it, cadet.”
unintentionally, you mimicked him silently, scrunching your face up and shaking your head in an exaggerative manner, mouthing the last four words he had just uttered to you. unfortunately, this did not bring you as much amusement as you wished it had, because he wasn’t even looking in your direction: he was walking away, or.. stomping away, rather. men are such drama queens, aren’t they?
you sighed, reluctantly turning on the spot and gazing up at your new home. it was very unlikely you’d spend any time training seeing as shadis seemed to have been final with his decision. usually, when he was really pissed off, you’d miss an hour of training to clean the mess hall, so it was only safe to assume that you would spend all your time with horse shit from now on. how.. eventful.
sourly, you began unlocking the wooden doors to your doom, pulling at the old-fashioned lock as you accepted your fate, frowning all the while. what had shocked you, however, was your name being called by the very man who had banished you to this very spot you wanted so desperately to leave. eager for anything to increase more time between you and the cleaning of horse poop, you swivelled on the spot, hissing inwardly as your exposed knee (curtesy of the commandant himself) scratched against the tree directly beside you. perhaps your excitement was a little too much, and could render you benched even after your punishment if you continued like this.
“yes sir?” you answered back, unsure of whether you should salute or not. perhaps not, just out of spite.
“you don’t have watchful eyes or ears, but unfortunately for me, you’re the only one i can ask as of now,” began commandant shadis, looking straight through you (quite literally, because his glare was that piercing and fierce).
you lifted your chin in questioning. curiosity engulfed your body whole, and the stinging sensation in your knee was only worsening, but you waited silently, patiently as the commandant continued.
“did you spot any movement in the woods, west side?”
you could practically fly with glee, no gear needed for the impossible. ‘yes, yes, yes i did,’ you were almost quick to answer, but then that would shorten the conversation and you’d be back to completing your very unhygienic task.
“when we were walking over here,” you confirmed honestly, trying your hardest to prevent your voice from cracking from the exhilaration you were currently feeling. “i saw movement.”
“i am going crazy then,” sighed shadis, shaking his head.
“why would you say that?” you asked, with genuine curiosity.
“because you said it.”
you frowned at him, realising what he had just said.
“bold of you to assume only this makes you crazy,” you accidentally spilled out. the realisation of what you had said caused your eyes to widen and your interest in the bland trees beside you to increase, so you turned on the spot, eyeing them in order to avoid eye contact with the commandant. even doing so, you could feel his glare burning holes in to the side of your cheek, so reluctantly, you looked back.
shit, he’s still staring.
look away..
okay look back now, should be done.
never mind, he’s persistent as fuck.
you mentally groaned before shakily pointing to the home of the horses behind you.
“i’ll just — er — yeah,” you stammered out, hastily turning away before he could say anything more.
this was going to be a long day.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・
“stop it!” you sobbed, slamming your hands down on the hay as the midnight coloured horse in front of you looked down at you and snorted.
it had only been five minutes and you were a weeping wreck. now you understood why people avoided pissing shadis off, but in your defence, the last five minutes felt like five long and dawdling centuries doing the repetitive action of cleaning, only to then find that these beautiful (but stupid) horses have smeared their faeces over the wooden walls for you to clean again. sue me for crying, you thought frustratedly, using your sleeve to wipe away the fat tears gliding down your cheek in such an elegant manner.
really and truly, this was all erwin’s fault. you were going to lecture him when you find him, although you wouldn’t be too surprised if he attempted to avoid you from now on (that’s a lie, you’d be offended and shocked that your partner-in-crime decided to even think of such a thing).
you could hear faint voices outside - curtesy of the door being left slightly ajar to allow sunlight inside, lord knows what could pop out in the dark thanks to jean’s spooky story-telling that you stubbornly said were, indeed, not frightening at all - and it seemed to be the only thing that could pique your interest in this very moment. the horses were beginning to get on your nerves anyway, especially the one with the darkest fur, that one looked as though it were mocking your crisis. you threw the wet rag on to the floor and slowly rose from your kneeling position, grimacing after surpassing the most recent poo smeared over the walls; you listened intently.
the first voice you recognised almost immediately was shadis’s, gruff and deep, and with a slight hint of amusement? now that definitely hooked you in like a kid to sugar. who in wall rose was chatting up the untouchable commandant of the training corps? that man was picky, you could tell, and he was definitely not the easiest to please.
a tingling sensation ran up your spine, one so intriguing, you hand immediately flew to your face, rubbing away the excess salty water from mere seconds ago. what if it was a woman?
being part of the training corps was fun, sure, but it had been a long while since there was some juicy gossip around here. the only thing you had been latching on to was the love triangle that was jean, eren, and mikasa, and even that was bland, seeing as jean was clearly the third-wheeler. you found yourself beginning to carefully walk over, making sure the hay beneath you made as little noise as ever. this was news, just imagine the look on marco’s face when you tell hi—
marco.
marco that butt.
it hurts to think of him after that brutal betrayal.
it’s okay, because jean would most definitely find interest in —
jean.
jean that horse.
it hurts much worse to think of him after he monotonously handed your plate of bland food over to someone else directly in front of you.
their loss, you had concluded, as you grew nearer and nearer to the gap between the door. you still wanted to know who commandant shadis was so smitten by, regardless of whether you had marco and jean to tell or not. maybe this would be the information that could cover up your little.. incident.. that everyone was now aware of. you could practically hear their laughter ringing in your ears even now.
your plan was almost completely put to ruins when the other horses began neighing. you whipped your head back in obvious annoyance, surprised your neck hadn’t snapped right there and then.
“shush!” you hushed them, brows knitting together in contained fury. “go smear your shit somewhere.”
oh, well that was hypocritical.
you were now abruptly reminded of how shadis always wanted the opposite action from you, and when you did it, he would backtrack and say he wanted the first one. the same case has been used here with these horses, and you could even swear that the midnight one was sending you a look that said ‘look at this hypocrisy’.
before you could even begin to apologise to the poor horses you had scolded prior to this, you caught on to the second voice, presumably the one that you had supposed was shadis’s secret lover. but.. this voice was deep - muffled, yes - but deep. or maybe you were hearing it wrong, perhaps there was a much larger distance between you and them, perhaps the voices were more muffled than you thought, perhaps that was why this supposed ‘woman’ sounded more like a man. however, it’s true that many women could have deep voices too, so maybe that was it. maybe he was with a woman with a deep voice. or maybe he was with a man instead? who’s to say that the commandant wasn’t attracted to men?
you waved your hand frantically at the horses on the right that were making way too much noise, noise that was blocking out what you could hear of the conversation between shadis and his lover.
your pushed your head ever so slightly between the door and its frame, in to the gap and exposed to the sunlight. your eyes burned and watered, for you had been sheltered in the dark for more than five minutes, your eyes needed to adjust. blinking rapidly, as the pair’s conversation continued, your turned your head in the direction of their voices. the problem was, however, that you couldn’t see them anywhere. all around you was grass, trees, and the building further down where the rest of your fellow cadets were inside, no doubt eating the leftovers that were meant for you.
exhaling frustratedly to relieve yourself of the thought of the traitors, you squinted your eyes to get a better view ahead. they were still talking, and this time (now that you were fully concentrated) you could make out almost every single word..
as well as who the voices belonged to.
and that was including the second, manly voice.
one that you had presumed you would have had to wait to hear for at least a couple of weeks, after the faction selection part had occurred, so why were you hearing it now?
gripping on to the door frame so tight your knuckles turned pale, you leaned forward, one leg out in the open, half your head in view. eyes darting left and right, the minute the next sentence was uttered, you found them. they were standing near a tree farther to the left of the stables, conversing with each other about the 104th, and your suspicions were proven to be correct.
his stature could be recognised from miles away, different from any other male here in the training corps (along with the fact that he was wearing a cape with the wings of freedom etched beautifully on his back). your breath hitched in your throat, and abruptly, your back slammed against the wooden walls, knees buckling as he spoke once more. it was really him. captain levi was here, within a few metre range from you. but then that struck up the question. what the hell was captain levi doing here? it’s only weeks before the faction selection part would happen, why was he here so early?
as nosy as you were, you concluded that perhaps you would find out why he was here if you eavesdropped. you could almost sing, this was far better than sitting in the mess hall and eating. jean could give away anything of yours at this point, and you wouldn’t even bat an eye.
“many of the squirms are under the stupid impression that being part of the scout regiment is lightweight,” you heard the commandant’s gruff voice say. well, he wasn’t wrong.
“you mean to tell me that this years’ cadets have no backbone?” the captain responded, sounding as though he had almost expected this to happen.
your heart began hammering against your chest with such ferocity, you could swear it to be possible if it jumped out of your chest right there and then. you were going absolutely feral at the sound of his dulcet tones, and because of this, you were now promptly reminded of how this had never happened to you because of anyone else. how had a man you had only known for less than a week danced his way in to your heart?
you peaked your head out again. no, you concluded, he didn’t look much like a dancer to be fair.
suddenly, shadis’ head turned. your eyes widened.
you disappeared out of sight almost instantly. shit, shit, shit, you had thought all the while.
had he seen you? was he now under the impression that you were, in fact, not cleaning like you were ordered to? was he now walking over this way? what now?
your panic was put to rest the second you heard the conversation continue. perhaps he was just looking around, like any normal person would.
well that didn’t sound right. because you knew him very well, and you knew that shadis was anything but normal. at the same time, however, neither were you.
“no,” grunted shadis, and despite not being able to get a view of him, you could practically see the deep frown painted over his face, “there are a few that have potential. fat egos, but a lot of potential..”
there was a short pause before the conversation continued. even from this distance, you could hear the exasperated sigh he let out.
“why do you look like that?”
“like what?”
“like you’re constipated.”
you almost laughed, slapping a hand over your mouth to prevent anything from slipping past your smooth lips. the thing is, if you began laughing, there was no stopping. not only that, but it was loud too, and that would expose your undercover mission of eavesdropping on your two superiors, something you could not afford if you ever stood a chance with captain levi.
however, as soon as the amusement came, it went. your mouth, turned up with contained laughter, flipped itself upside down with a frown. you could feel the crease between your eyebrows beginning to form as the realisation began setting in: commandant shadis was having a conversation with his lover, right? and this conversation - which just so happened to be with captain levi - was almost flirtatious. the blood beneath your skin began to simmer on low heat, but all you could see was red. teeth gritted, it took all your sane thoughts to keep you rooted to the spot, to prevent revealing yourself and the state you were in, but that did not stop the murderous thoughts plaguing your mind like a disease deadlier than anything the people in the wall encountered.
commandant shadis was conversing in a flirtatious conversation with your beloved. he was shamelessly talking with someone who just so happened to be your husband. you felt like jean, who lost his crush to his competition, and yours just so happened to be with the very man who had ordered you to clean until your hands became calloused.
and suddenly it all clicked.
he had done this to prevent you from intervening with the captain, because he knew that once your appeared back in to the picture, the captain would wriggle his way out of the commandant’s iron grip to fall straight in to yours.. yours which were much, much gentler and lovelier.
teeth gritted, with your tongue glued to the roof of your mouth, you fumed silently, listening in. if it’s a competition commandant shadis wants, it’s a competition that he’ll get, you maliciously thought to yourself.
“there’s a cadet here who’s intent on joining the scouts. lots of potential, but will give you a headache with whatever she does - that sharp tongue of hers.”
“that drive will get her nowhere but dead on an expedition.”
“i’d be surprised if she willingly went to an expedition,” snorted commandant shadis, and despite being unable to see him, you could practically see the glare he was sending to whomever he had the chance to.
who was this cadet that the superiors were talking about? one thing for sure was that it was a girl with extreme potential: annie leonhart? you shook your head dismissively; she was joining the military police brigade, and this was a well known fact since the day her and eren were sparring. perhaps you could send a message to nile dok through her, seeing as you were banned from giving it to him yourself (which is extremely unfair, you have to add).
no, it was most definitely not annie. however, there seemed to be a choice much better than annie, and that was the 104th’s current number one: mikasa ackerman.
mikasa was a girl, and very rarely had a tongue sharper than the very blades she uses to slice open those cardboard titan’s during odm training. when she did show us some of her wit, it was the type that was harsher than anything anyone has ever heard of (which made it all the more amusing to watch). eren had decided that he wanted to be part of the scouts, and you knew that wherever eren went, his friends would follow (that was including mikasa). not only that, but she’s stronger than everyone in the 104th, so if it’s potential shadis was commenting on, potential is exactly what mikasa has. still, the word ‘potential’ gives off the idea that she could do better, which contradicts mikasa greatly due to the fact that she could get no better than she already is: she’s number one for fucks sake. and you couldn’t ignore the fact that mikasa could never give any of the superiors headaches, not when she did everything perfectly first try without even intentionally showing off. the girl was brave as fuck, too, why would she surprise shadis if she willingly went to an expedition? she’d go to one without question.
so no, not mikasa.
but then that only makes room for one other person you could think of.. and you knew her very well, to be fair.
it was..
most definitely..
sasha braus!
she’d given the commandant a headache on the very first day, when everyone first enlisted in to the training corps. she’s a girl, she ranks number nine, which means that there is room for improvement as well as the fact that she’s headstrong too (showing definite potential). the only thing stopping you from considering the fact that she might be the right candidate for this topic is the idea that sasha was undecided, she had told you a mere week ago about how she wasn’t too sure what military branch she would go for and that she’d have to hurry up and make her mind. that did still show that there’s a possibility she might choose the scout regiment, you thought wisely, and if she did, there’s a chance that she might back out of an expedition..
yep, she was the best candidate, you decided, growing more intrigued as the conversation continued.
“the expeditions are a requirement. if she doesn’t go to them, what’s the damn point?”
“trust me when i say this, captain, she will find a way to escape ‘em if she has to.”
there was a silence that engulfed them completely, where all that could be heard were the chirping of the birds, the rustle of the tree leaves, and the faint sound of laughter from somewhere down the fields of grass. you didn’t even feel isolated from it anymore, you felt you would much rather be eavesdropping than joining in on whatever was happening in the mess hall (you’d be damned if it was about you, too).
“at least she’ll be out of my hands. good luck.”
“good luck?” repeated captain levi, as if the words were like poison to the mouth. and even then, with him sounding as though he’d rather be titan food than meet this cadet, his voice still remained as majestic as ever.
“three years,” you heard the commandant sigh, “three years of the same bullshit she spews up. this might be the first time you send someone back.”
“i’ll leave that to erwin,” captain levi responded. “it’s likely i’ll never meet whoever you’re talking about. not when we all have separate squads to lead.”
“oh you will hear about her,” riposted shadis swiftly. “whether you’re all the way in mitras and she’s all the way residing in wall rose. if she’s part of your regiment, you will most definitely hear about her. word of advice: assign her to stable duty, it’s the most peace and quiet you’ll ever get. i learned the hard way.”
your stomach flipped over itself. stable duty? but sasha has never been sent to clean the stables. nobody has. the only person who has, however, is..
“and this is supposed to be recent?”
“it’s right now, captain.”
you.
they were talking about you.
this entire time you had been under the impression that sasha was the person they were having a conversation about, but it was you the entire fucking time. it was you when shadis mentioned how intent you were on joining the scouts, it was you when he said that there was potential in this case, it was you when he exasperatedly told captain levi about the headaches you give him, it was you all along.
now you were completely blind with rage. everything around you was the shade of what you imagined commandant shadis’s blood to be: crimson and runny, because it was the topic of you that he was using to shamelessly flirt with captain levi.
flattered as you were about how only the topic of you was able to bring out a conversation between them, you were irked with the idea that he was trying to win the captain over by slandering your name without actually saying your name.
to make matters worse, that midnight dark horse was now breathing down your neck. you shivered under the hot wind from its nostrils as you took several steps back. expecting to collide with the wall you had previously leaned against, you lost your balance.
your stomach was now in your throat, eyes widening with the sudden realisation that there was nothing to grab on to, arms still searching despite being well aware of that fact. your legs tripped back over one another as you flew down, accepting your fate with a cold heart, eyes closing as you took the scores in your head, back callously meeting the hard concrete below you.
shadis - 1 : me - 0.
pain shot up your spine, your head pounding and a harsh breath leaving your mouth. you had been caught, you knew it, because over the chirps of the birds and the rustling of the leaves hanging on the tree branches, your brilliant ears caught on to the vague sound of a grunt, whether it be from the captain or the commandant, you had no clue.
but that didn’t matter to you, not nearly as much as the anger you felt towards that damned horse that blew you cover (excusing the fact that you would have stormed up to the flirty pair yourself anyway, but at least that entrance would have been way cooler than this harsh reveal). your head was pounding, you could feel the warm sun over your face, laughing at your foolishness; even in the darkness you had shut yourself up in (eyes being shut tight and all) bright spots of colours clouded your vision, pink and blue, green and orange. they began forming weird shapes, very weird, like sludges of mud when falling in to a puddle during training with jean and marc—
“on your feet, cadet!”
for fuck’s sake —
“i couldn’t even if i wanted to,” you responded, and had your eyes been opened, you would have seen the way in which the captain’s eyebrows rose up further in to his forehead at your response (and perhaps, your appearance, too?).
you dared yourself to open your eyes, but thought better of it. instead, you turned and laid on your side, the left side of your cheek resting against the hot grass. that brought you not comfort, you quickly noticed.
when you received no response from commandant shadis, you huffed, astonished with how he cared about formalities in your horrible situation.
“sir,” you uttered through gritted teeth, completing your sentence angrily.
perhaps you’d have been in a much better state if you were aware of the fact that captain levi was standing over you, but you were only aware of shadis, under the impression that the captain had better things to do than seeking out the clumsy cadet that landed right on her ass.
“a horrible impression you’re leaving for the captain of the regiment you’re dying to join, squirm.”
now that opened your eyes.
foolish, again, because the blinding light of the sun cause you to groan and bring your hands up to your face to turn on the spot and shut your eyes once more. hearing the snort from your commandant got your blood boiling under high heat, heat rising to your neck and tips of your ears as you scrambled to get on your feet, stumbling slightly as you saluted. it was important to note just who you were saluting at, because it was certainly not for keith shadis.
you opened your eyes, ignoring the sting of the light, because no sting would ever prevent you from seeing what you were blessed with now: captain levi was definitely sculpted to break the hearts of many, many girls.. with dark hair resembling his grey eyes, resembling a storm on a cold winter’s day. the deep frown that called his face home only complimented his features further, but only caused you to wonder just how stunning he’d look if he smiled.
a lightbulb switched on over your head. new task, you thought excitedly, make the captain smile.
you knew it wouldn’t be an easy task, for the captain must have adopted this lack of emotion for good reason, maybe because of all the things he had seen in his time with the scouts. however, you were determined to bring him some form of happiness, however long it took. besides, it couldn’t be too hard. you had a very good streak with rendering people speechless and causing them to have their bellies aching from loud laughter.
but where you looked at him with eyes sparkling in delight, he looked back at you with half-lidded ones, unamused.
okay, so it was definitely going to be hard to get on his good side. what a brilliant first impression.
“a future scout, huh?” were the first four words that captain levi had ever spoken to you, and god did it have you absolutely spiralling. still, you refused to make it obvious that you were sending heart eyes at him (at least, in front of the commandant. in private it may be a different scenario).
“she wanted to be part of the garrisons first,” your new enemy, keith shadis, intervened. “had a change of heart, it seems.”
“no i never,” you lied, thinking of how captain levi may never want to be with someone who considered a regiment different to his to begin with. keith shadis is playing a good game, you thought, panicked. he was definitely making you get on the captain’s bad side so he could then win him over, but you saw right through him. “i’ve always wanted to be a scout.”
the commandant’s left eye twitched.
that’s right, you thought maliciously, i can play your game too.
he seemed to be taken aback with how you realised what he was doing. a voice at the back of your head was suggesting that maybe the commandant was surprised that you were lying about something you were so proud of, but you brushed it aside dismissively, almost one hundred percent certain it was because of how smart you were at how you easily figured out his feelings for the captain, wasting no time at all at that.
“lying to your superiors is another reason for me to send you back inside. just make sure you don’t fall on your ass again,” said keith shadis, almost as though it were a threat.
“i’m not lying,” you retorted stubbornly.
“would cadets kirstein and bott plead your case?”
now that startled you.
wow, you hadn’t realised how good of a game keith shadis could play. but of course he could, for the few days that you knew the captain for could not possibly compete with the many years he knew the captain for.
it’s okay, you convinced yourself calmly, because captain levi and i have more chemistry than him and captain levi do.
your eyes immediately met the captain’s, aware that if there was any sort of chemistry, you’d be making out in front of your competition right now.
whatever. it’s a couple’s thing, you concluded.
right now you had to deal with the man who was knowingly trying to steal your husband.
“i have no idea who you’re talking about,” your answered wisely. “but you could always ask sasha.”
now there was a very good reason why you suggested her, because in favour of this, you would offer her your dinner without question. there were many times you had sasha backing you for trouble you’ve caused, because food was the only thing you had to offer that she would blindly accept. thank god for sasha braus.
keith shadis clasped his hands behind his back, straightening himself up as he glared at you. good, you were slowly winning.
“indecisive about the regiments,” said keith lowly, “that won’t make a good scout.”
“you’d be surprised,” the captain intervened swiftly, eyes unlacing from your smaller figure, “even the incompetent turn out to survive the longest.”
despite your face proving silent surprise, your insides were celebrating, mind reeling at the thought that captain levi had sided with you. you smugly turned your head just the slightest bit to eye keith shadis, who was still glaring at you.
you retook the points in your head.
keith - 1: me - 1.
“what are you grinning about?” demanded captain levi, who was now staring straight through your soul with a piercing gaze.
you frowned ever so slightly. he really looked as though he were sculpted with such elegance even when he was glaring. the only thing you found slightly wrong was how he was choosing to glare at you rather than the home-wrecker next to him.
“so all it took was the captain of the scout regiment to wipe that smirk off your face, huh?” snorted keith, your arch nemesis. “if i’d known that earlier, i’d have done it three years ago.”
“yeah, well, no one asked.”
silence.
complete and utter silence.
a calm before the storm, really, where shadis and captain levi both watched you: shadis’ breath beginning to be heaved out of his nose and captain levi’s face forming an expression of mild surprise. and you, however, remained rooted to your spot, no regret eating at your insides like they usually would when you would sense an incoming earful from your commandant. perhaps it was because of the fact that you knew keith shadis was after your husband that made you bolder than you’d ever been in your life, but whatever it really was, you thanked it endlessly as without it, you’d have already ran back inside to clean without question.
“i wasn’t aware that i needed permission from a trainee to speak,” keith spat out with venom, callously reminding you that yes, indeed, you were much lower ranking in comparison to him.
you narrowed your eyes at your superior, who clearly knew exactly what he was doing.
“i’m graduating in a matter of a couple of weeks,” you reminded him, and because he knew you so well, he could hear the smugness in your voice that, perhaps, captain levi could not. “and when i’m part of the scouts, you can’t boss me around anymore, keith.”
his eye twitched.
oh fuck.
not a good sign..
but i’m not scared?
why am i not scared?
“what did you just call me?” questioned the commandant, looking just as shocked as he had once been when sasha had offered him half of her potato.
you raised a brow.
“your name?” you answered, allowing it to sound more like a question than it did a statement. “you’re really confusing you know. did you forget your own na—”
“I KNOW MY OWN NAME, CADET, BUT IT SEEMS AS THOUGH YOU’VE FORGOTTEN YOURS!” he bellowed, so unexpectedly, your had to take a step back to allow the ringing in your ears to stop.
as you rubbed your right ear and stared at him through knitted brows, you did not stop to mention how wrong he was.
“what’re you talking about? i know my name. it’s y/n —”
“he meant your position,” interrupted captain levi, as though it were the most obvious thing in the world. he stood there, looking up at shadis with disappointment. “you’ve lost your control, old man. last year’s cadets weren’t nearly as brave as this single one. mind telling me what happened?”
this was your cue, you decided proudly. taking a sheepish step back, you intervened.
“i can.”
both eyes shifted straight back to you. where the commandant was looking thoroughly exasperated, the captain was looking annoyed, with something else hiding behind his cold exterior of blandness.. it looked like he was almost intrigued? or had you read the lines wrong again..?
“but before i begin on that, i want to let you know, kei— i mean, commandant shadis, sir, that jean told me to do it.”
“jean?” repeated commandant shadis, with an air of confusion.
you nodded.
“jean,” you confirmed matter-of-factly. “he told me to call you keith. and as for why keith has been slacking, captain,” you added, turning to captain levi, “he —”
“get back to work, cadet,” sighed captain levi, rolling his eyes before you could even finish your sentence. “inside the stables. now.”
you nodded without hesitation, rushing back inside with butterflies in your stomach. as you slowly closed the wooden door separating yourself and your superiors, the little light left in the stables diminishing the more you pushed the wood, your back immediately met the wall, sliding down in amazement as you drowned yourself in your thoughts.
looking at him up close was a gift sent from god-knows-who, but you thanked them nonetheless. the idea that captain levi sent you back inside because he was siding with you and not keith made your insides dance with joy, the giddy feeling rushing back to you faster than mikasa on odm. you retook the points in your head one last time, before cleaning the poo with a new, positive mindset:
(captain levi’s wife) y/n - 2: (ugly, bald, home-wrecker) keith - 1
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・
he felt bad.
he knew he shouldn’t, a new situation with you and the commandant arose nearly every week, he dares say every day, even, and every damn time, you tried to use him or marco as an escape plan.
to be fair, it wasn’t really his fault that he refused again. besides, what could he have done? attack the commandant, grab you, and run? risk his position as the current number six?
you, obviously, would say ‘yes! what’s wrong with that?’ and then give him a good smack round the back of his head as punishment so he knew for next time, but still, jean felt just the tiniest bit bad for refusing you.
even though he shouldn’t. that was very important to note. he should. not. feel. bad.
yet he did.
and then he felt worse when word got around that you were dragged to the stables. nobody ever pissed shadis off that much to end up there. but of course, you did. you just had to.
jean was currently leaving the boys’ barracks, slyly attempting to see if you had made it round to the next set of training exercises. the window just past the door to commandant shadis’ office was large enough to see every bit of grass that people were training on. he grimaced when he caught sight of annie tackling eren with little effort. that girl was dangerous.
“kirstein,” came a gruff voice from just down his neck, where heavy breaths were being laid.
jean froze up, every muscle in his body becoming tense and tight, like a knot difficult to untie. he turned on the spot and knowingly saluted, aware of all the mistakes you usually made in the presence of the commandant so that he (cleverly) never made any.
“sir!” he voiced firmly, heat now flying all around his body, hiding specifically under his pits where sweat was beginning to form. what was he so nervous about? he had done nothing wrong.
the commandant did not fail to notice this.
“you look like you’re causing mischief, maggot,” he stated as though it were a definite fact. “and scared shitless you’ll be caught. perfect for titan meal.”
what?
what the fuck does that even mean?
“i plan on joining the military police.. sir,” jean dared to reply.
commandant shadis snorted.
what do i do? thought jean, panicked. do i laugh? agree? what the fuck is happening right now?
“cadet l/n won’t be impressed.”
“she isn’t,” said jean hastily, guilt circling his stomach. “sir.”
“i was always under the impression that she got herself in to trouble because she didn’t know how to control herself,” began commandant shadis, as if telling a life story. jean listened intently. “part of that is true, do not get that mistaken. i learned today.”
jean held his breath.
“but you know what she did when i spoke to her?”
jean shook his head shakily. “what did she say.. sir?”
the commandant raised his brow. “so you know it’s what she said and not what she did, huh?”
“i —” stammered jean, confused. “i don’t under—”
“she said something, you know. to me. how did you know?”
“i didn’t..” jean answered, shaking with nerves. shit, sound real. “i just know her really well, sir.”
“that well, huh?” marvelled the commandant. “any idea what she said?”
jean laughed dryly. “probably something stupid, right? sir?”
“she called me keith.”
oh fuck.
oh shit.
what the fuck y/n?
jean found himself holding his breath, and something was tickling his nose like a feather, daring him to laugh. he wanted to laugh. he wanted to joke about this all day and night. he wanted to turn around and wallow in laughter. but he couldn’t, not with the commandant watching his every move through narrowed eyes.
he sucked in a load of air and kept them inside his cheeks. perhaps he could play this off as being annoyed at your antics.
“you find this funny, eh?”
“no, sir,” he responded, breathing out a little of the air he had sucked in. “not at all, sir.”
“i would assume that the very person who told her to do it would find it amusing, kirstein.”
now that stopped him from laughing.
he ran the commandant’s words through his head one more time.
i would assume that the very person who told her to do it would find it amusing, kirstein.
hang on a second, jean thought in a panic, but before he could plead his innocence, commandant shadis’ hand flew up, grabbed at his ear, and jean was being dragged across the training field in a hurry.
as all eyes were on him, jean cursed you multiple times in his head. every inch of guilt he once felt now died out as if it was never there to begin with.
-
“fuck you, y/n.”
“you should be grateful!” you snapped, wiping your hands with a wet paper towel as you gestured to the horses surrounding you two. “i brought you home to your family!”
and as jean made eye contact with the horse that had managed to piss him off the most compared to the rest, he made a mental note never to cross you again.

The Depictions of Death.
//TW! Themes and mentions of suicide
Levihan drabble 🫶
Rating: M
Word count: 748
ao3 link
based on a line I wrote: "When depictions of death are this beautiful, it's hard not to fall in love."
Takes place the night before Levi leaves to "escort"(babysit) Zeke to the forest. ,
Hange needs to vent.
_____________
Hange valued life above all else. After all, if they were to lose their life, how would they satisfy their curiosities? What are titans? Where do they come from? Why do they exclusively consume people?
When stood face to face with the answers to the questions their heart happily beat to, the childlike curiosity lingering within them popped like a bubble.
Not only that, but as commander of the Scout Regiment, they barely had time for themself. The soldier known as Hange Zoë had to shed their energetic "self."
Of course, their right hand man was not blind to such thing. A face of stone with a heart of gold—no different than a thorned rose.
"Do you ever think people are in love with death?"
"Where's that coming from?"
"Nowhere in particular. Just a thought. Isn't death always written of so... beautifully in stories?"
"Don't go getting suicidal on me. I'm gonna make sure you got no eyes left if you do."
"Hey, it's just a thought!"
Well, that's what Hange wants to think.
Behind their desk, the commander's face drops any sign of emotion, an immediate concern for the captain.
"Always the bad liar," he thinks to himself with a scoff.
Six soft footsteps later, and Levi feels a head on his shoulder.
"So what if death is attractive?"
Taking a slow, deep breath, the captain answers. "You think you can live with yourself if you just leave your problems to those kids?"
"But won't be I dead by then?"
"..."
________
One head bonking later, and the two arrive to the commander's quarters.
"Call death beautiful all you want—I know you still hate it."
Removing their coat, "the commander" sleeps, and "Hange" is here to bear their problems.
"Bullshit is what it is. A bit of a comedian too. Don't you think it's funny? Of all the things, death is the one that doesn't discriminate."
"The captain" sleeps too; "Levi" is left to feel the sarcasm in Hange's words.
Of course, he feels the same way. "Death" chooses all, in the end. It takes an unborn child the same way it would a rotting politician.
"I'm—"
"Tired? I know. The brats too, me too, Hange."
Why... do you say it so softly?
"You always got a lot on your mind. Keep talking."
"But..."
"You think you can listen to my problems when you're feeling suicidal?"
"I'm not suicidal."
"Then keep talking."
Defeated, Hange lets themself lay between Levi's arms. And dear *Sina* if they had the time to talk about what was going on between them.
"I don't know what's keeping me going anymore. I'm not sad, nor angry. I'm just... tired. Is it justice? Is it vengeance? Is it the hearts everyone dedicated to freedom? Is it the lives they threw away in hopes of a better future? Is... *this* that future?"
Tracing Hange's palm with his fingers, Levi comforts them. "Fucking asshole that Erwin was, huh?"
A remark that made Hange choke out a chuckle, knowing it was in reference to him choosing them as his successor.
A new feeling stirred.
Doubt.
"But if I were him, I would've chosen you too. Leadership skills, half your life worth of experience as a scout, insanely book smart, street smart—who else would've been a better fit?"
"Didn't you once say 'Flattery will get you nowhere.' to a rookie?"
"I'm not flattering your delusional ass, I'm stating facts."
It earns another short chuckle from Hange. He can't help but smile at himself.
"Death will never be beautiful to me."
"I know. Death took everyone from you."
"Not everyone," he thinks, studying their face.
"For a someone whose intelligence rivals Erwin, you sure are one hell of an idiot?"
"Huh?"
"Definitely an idiot."
"Take of your glasses."
"O-Oh. Right."
Tonight was a rare one. It might also be the last he spends any time with them. Though, he'd rather not think about it. As he watches them place their glasses on their nightstand, he prays to whatever higher being that's out there to keep his remaining comrade alive.
"Hey, glasses," he utters, devoid of the usual prickliness in his voice.
Taken slightly aback by his sudden vulnerability, "Hm?" they respond.
"Stay alive. Promise me," he whispered weakly, hand spread on the mattress, reaching out to Hange.
"We've gone through hell and back—I think it's a little insulting that you think I'd die easily."

🎄 Happy Birthday Levi, Merry Christmas Y/N 🎁
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
It was a really busy day at the cafe and I was in the back cleaning some dishes lost in the feeling of Christmas humming along to the carol playing over the speaker. "Y/N you need to come up front. We need your help.....please. I heard Levi yell. " I will be there in a sec." I yelled back drying my hands from doing the dishes. I put on my apron heading to the front. I was stopped in my tracks when I saw the store was empty. "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" everyone yelled when I walked in from the back. "What is this? I thought we still had costumes?" I asked as Gabi runs up to me giving me one of the Christmas cookies.
Levi was rubbing the back of his neck. "I was thinking about having a Christmas party for you for doing such a good job." Tears fill my water line. "Levi that was so sweet thank you." I walk up to him giving him a hug and kissing his cheek. "Can I get one?" Jean asked pointing to his cheek. "Only if you want to loss your job and get an ass kicking." Levi deadpans, I kiss hie cheek again. "Sorry Jean but I can give you a hug." The staff laughed.
"So what do you have planned for this party." Eren said from the back having his arm crossed. "Well first you guys can go change out of your nasty uniforms." Levi said as he untied his apron. Eren, Jean and Armin head to the men's room when Mikasa, Annie and Gabi head to the woman's. "Reiner is picking up Falco and the kids. Erwin will be by later with Connie and Sasha. I also asked your dad if he will take the kids tomorrow night." He whispered in my ear. My heart and stomach did a backflip. "Plus I got myself a birthday/Christmas gift for us when they leave."
As the party went on all I could think about the gift Levi got. 'Was it the new green lace set that I saw on Adam&Eve's, website last month or was it something else.' I thought to myself as I was cleaning up after the party. As I was lost in thought I didn't hear Levi walk up behind me putting his arms around me. And in all honesty I really didn't mean to hurt him. He just scared me. That's what I told him the hole way to the hospital after I broke his nose and dislocated his arm. "Sunflower really I'm okay truly. I'm somewhat glad you remembered the defense moves I taught you when you work at night by yourself." I looked at him tears falling down my face.
After being there for 4 hours we were sent home. Levi in a sling and me with a bruise ego. "Mommy was funny when she flipped daddy like that. Uncle Erwin couldn't stop laughing." My daughter told my dad when we got home. "Yeah and Uncle Jean looked like he was about to be sick when he saw dad's arm." Okay you two, get ready for bed or Santa wouldn't stop at the house." Levi told the kids as he got him a water from the fridge. "Here let me help.... I was interrupted by Levi opening his water bottle. "See I still can do things you need to calm down. I'm fine really." He put the water bottle down on the counter. I took a deep breath then looked at my dad. We're good dad I will call you if we need anything. He nodded walked over, kissed me on the head and walked out heading home.
After we got the kids to bed and a very long night of me not sleeping Christmas morning came with a lot of screams, giggles and thank you (for Santa too), we got the kids all packed up and sent off to my dad. As I was picking up I felt myself started to get upset and tears start to from in my eyes. Knowing something was wrong Levi came into the living room with a cup of mint tea. "You really to stop betting yourself over this. You did nothing wrong. If anything you could feel proud." I looked at him over my cup mid sip. I pulled my cup away from my lips putting it down on the table. "So your telling me I should be happy that I hurt my husband?" He put his cup down that he was holding with his good hand and took my hand in his
"No what I'm saying is that you don't always need me to protect yourself and the kids. You made me proud even though it hurt like hell.... He paused to laugh at my face I was making. Your a strong woman Y/N bout physically and mentally. He leaned in to give me a long sweet passionate kiss. I could feel him pull me closer to him, and my body moved along his pull. When I was close to him he picked me up with his good arm and carried me into the bedroom. "Take off your clothes, sit on the edge of the bed, hands in your lap and close your eyes. I did as I was told. With my eyes closed I could hear him messing with the drawer by the bed that have my blindfold in. Okay you can open your eyes.
When I did what I saw took my breath away. What he held was a necklace that had his the kids and my birth stone in the shape of a heart. My head went to my mouth as I was trying to cover the sob that was trying to escape. "Oh wow Levi this is beautiful." I helped him to put it on me. "I looks lovely on you. As I sat there in nothing but the necklace, I could see that Levi was getting a little excited with my new gift. Come here sir I think you need to relax after the day you had. He walked over to me. I undid his belt and slowly and carefully took down his pants and underwear.
Taking his cock in my mouth I could here his breath shake a little and his hip buck a bit. "I can see you like your Christmas gift a lot." He said as his hand held my cheek. I looked up at him as I moved my hand out and down his shaft pulling my lips from him. "Would sir like to lay down and have me give him his birthday present?" I asked him as I felt his cock stiffen in my hade more. I didn't need a verbal answer when I felt him pick me up and put me on top of him. I could feel him slide into me and I started to move my hip.
Happy Birthday Levi. Merry Christmas Y/N
That was the best Birthday/ Christmas we both had

Mini Captain
Pairing: Levi x fem! child! reader
Summary: Levi’s got a daughter. Nobody knows this, except for Hanji and Erwin, until one day she shows up unexpectedly. Who knew Levi could be so sweet.
Tumblr media
Woah this place is huge
(y/n) though as she took a peak from under the supplies she was hiding in.
In a desperate attempt to see her father little lady (y/n) decided to hide in a supply cart said to be going his way. Amazingly she made it without getting caught. Now she had to get out and into the castle with out getting caught ."Stealth mode" (y/n) whispered as she jumped out of the cart and behind a stack of hay. There were more people here than she thought. This was going to be difficult
(y/n) found an opened window checking for a clear go she climbed in.
I’m in.
“hey, what are you doing here”
I’m out.
(y/n)tried to climb back out the window but it was too late. The man pulled her from the window "come here, kid. How'd you get here? what are you doing?" the man gripped her wrist and pulled her along.  (y/n) was saying anything for reasons as the man dragged her down the hall stranger danger, she was scared, and was obviously in trouble.
"you've got nothing to say. That alright I'll take you to commander Erwin and he'll deal with you." (y/n) was a bit relieved now knowing she was going to her uncle/ commander Erwin. He wouldn't be me, right? Regardless of who she was going to she kicked, punched, and clawed at him, she would've to bite but she had no clue where he's been, he was cutting the blood circulation from her wrist. People looked at them confused and amused as they watched his struggle with her, she was roaring like an animal. It was strange a little girl in flowery dress boots and a bow being dragged by a man.
"commander" the man  called out seeing commander walking with a cadet "I found this child trying to sneak in, what do you want to do with her?" (y/n) goes limp as the man picks her up. Erwin raised his enormously bush eyebrow at her.
"Hi" (y/n) said looking at Erwin upside down.
"Hi," he said "put her down I'll take care of her" as the man set her on the floor (y/n) took her hand. The man watched as his commander walked away with the girl skipping at his side he was left confused for the rest of the day. Erwin took (y/n) outside where the rest of cadet stood to wait for roll call.
Erwin didn’t ask her how she got here the faint smell of alcohol made it clear she came in with the supply carts. He instructed her to go stand in roll call with the other cadets in between Connie and Sasha. Everyone was confused, what was a child doing here? why was she in line? Why was she with Erwin? did she have relation to him? No one really had time to ponder over their questions before Levi arrived.
Levi took attends and inspected the uniforms and salutes as he called names. " Braus" he called he looked her up and down. She was good. " Ackerman" he called Mikasa stepped forward "Sir"  "not you, her, " he said pointing to (y/n). Squatting down to her level he fixed her salute and bows then moved on to the next cadet.
"all of you 15 laps Little Ackerman 5, now all of you get to running" (y/n) took off running with the rest of the cadet she casually talked to them as she tried to keep up pace alongside them.
Levi ran a hand through his hair and sighed "when did she get here?" "a few minutes ago along with the supplies. Nobody noticed" Erwin said smirking
"why am I not surprised?"
"because she's a mini version of you. Just with more emotions" Erwin teased "she wants to see daddy"
"you're not funny, You extra tall shit"
After  4 laps little (y/n) gave up on running and collapsed dramatically on her face to the side, she didn’t want anyone stepping on her.The running this was not new she offend trained with her father running, exercising, combat lessons, talking and show of gears. Levi did as much as he could with a little 4-year-old. Which meant two laps and she was done, touching toes turned into ' watch me roll', a punch in the arm was a head-butt to the dick, and showing off gear let to 'let me try'. This was not new it was actually normal, (y/n) was a mini soldier in training (not that her father or uncle would ever allow her to see battle).
"are you okay?" (y/n) rolled over and looked up to see 4 people above her Sasha and Connie from the line and two blonds both small one was obviously a girl and the other ....it was a mystery.
"are you okay?" the mystery asked (y/n) nodded "do you need help?" the blond girl asked
"you've been faced down for a long time everyone was a bit worried," Connie said "would you like to finish our last lap with us" he offered his hand
"okay" (y/n) said taking his hand she as took Sasha's hand and the three jogged while holding hands, kind of like a family. So cute.
"I'm (y/n) Ackerman" she introduced herself "Connie " "Sasha " "Christa" "Armin" ah so it is a boy.
The five ran across the finish with a cheer. During combat and gear training she was sidelined. Actually she ended up playing tag with Connie and Sasha during combat trains.
Levi had yet to speak to her he didn’t even ask how she got here or why she was here. His silences scared (y/n) made her believe she was in trouble. She wondered how angry he was last time he was full on angry with her was the time she had snuck into the underground because she wanted to see where he grew up. He spent an hour yelling and her and more just holding her. She remembered that built up he didn't yell at her until an entire day after the incident. He wasn't talking to her now and she had already been here a few hours. oh, this was going to be bad.
Levi had told Erwin he was going to return to his office and that he could finish training the cadets. (y/n) was scared as she followed her father to his office. She had not thought this plan through. Entering his office and closing the door  Levi took a behind his desk and began to do paperwork. "sit" he said motioning to the couch she took a seat "I already know how you got here. Now the question is why are you here?" Levi didn't look up from his paperwork as he talked.
"you hadn't written home in a while and my birthday was coming up soon and I wanted to see you." (y/n) said in a shy voice Levi opened his desk and pulled out a sealed envelope "I was going to send it today. And I would have never missed your birthday I already got your gifted."
"really?! What is it, what is it"
"you'll have to wait and see". The rest of the time spent in Levi's office was just talking and working, Levi did paperwork (y/n) drew pictures.Levi appreciated that his daughter was born with a small voice, very quiet. Most children at birth cried all the time and were very messy, not (y/n) she was a little angel. Until she got to the terrible twos and the ability to walk at that time she was a little too adventurous  Levi could not count how many times he had literally lost his daughter. But it was nothing he couldn't handle.
She was a mirror image of Levi and her mother.  Clean and quiet like Levi shied away from most human connected but so bright and loveable like her mother so sweet cared for every and anyone. There were also Jokes about being like her aunt and uncle. She had a lust for knowledge about any and everything like aunt Hanji, the girl had a collection of books on her bookshelves at home to prove it. She was also very determined just like her Uncle Erwin if she wanted or need something no matter how she got she wouldn't stop until she got it. A little bundle of joy for every one she was.
Levi looked up from his paperwork to see (y/n) on the floor she had a neat stack of pictures next to her. They must have been there for a long time. The sunset proved this.
"Hey Brat, let's head down for dinner. Let you meet my squad " Levi said
"Squad Levi" (y/n) squealed as she took followed her father. He chuckled.
Walking into the dining hall all conversation stopped as Levi walked in. He walked in head held high, as usual, he used to things getting quite when he entered up not silent, this was new. He thought they were looking at him. Actually, they were looking at his mini-me who wore his cloak.
He folded his arms she folds her arms he glared around she glared around he goes 'tch' "what are you looking at ?" "tussh what are you looking at" she tries to repeat failing. Levi looks back at her and waves her forward the get their dinner and sit with his squad. The dining conversations began again.
As the two sat down Levi was explain the sound he had to her 'tch' she goes finally getting it right "there you go" Levi praises her. Levi squad doesn't say anything just stare at their little visitor waiting for their captain to explain.
"Everyone this is my daughter (y/n)" Levi said," (Y/n) this Petra, Erd, Oluo, and Gunter say hi"
"Hi Hi I'm (y/n) Ackerman," she says before stuffing her face with food
"you've got a daughter, " Oluo said in disbelieve. No one could believe the great heartless Captain Levi Humanity's Strongest had a kid a little girl. A sweet one at that, an angel. It was like she was the complete opposed of Levi but his twin at the same time. Levi found their reaction hilarious along with the way (y/n) answered their questions. Amusing enough to make him give a small smile.
Everything seemed to be going peacefully everyone was minding their own business, sure there was chanter about (y/n) but nothing bad. But then she came she was something no one was ever prepared for she was uncontrollable they assigned a handler to her but not even he could control her. Busting into the dining hall she let out a monstrosity of a roar "(Y/N) " racing to their table Levi tried to hide her but it was to let she had picked up her scent, the child was doomed. Levi whispered into her ear "you're on your own kid" before scudding as far as he could away from her. Everyman for themselves.
"(Y/N)" Hanji ran quickly to their table Commander Erwin behind her, you could see the sympathy in his face poor child "Oh my (y/n) it's been too long how is my pretty intelligent baby I've missed you so".
(y/n) didn't fight back as her aunt suffocated her she knew better than to do that Hanji would calm down eventually and she breathe again. Last time she had fought against Hanji's hug Hanji thought she didn't love her and stopped talking to her, that was horrible.
"Hanji I don't think she's breathing" Uncle Erwin was her saver the time, Hanji notice and set her down" how much have you putting her back now
"like this much " (y/n) opened her arms wide "How much have you missed Daddy," Levi asked
"my arms aren't that big" Levi smirked knowing he was loved more than Hanji.
Dinner continued on everyone talked and got to know (y/n). Levi like this his squad getting to know his daughter she really seemed to like them. Levi knew that tomorrow he'd get shit from your mother for not taking you home as soon as he found you but he was going to take the punishment it was totally worth this moment. You were happy and save nothing else matter. You were with him.
After (y/n) fell asleep at the table Levi decided it was bedtime. Those who were left over watched as Levi carried sweet (y/n) to away. It was adorable watching the Captain with his daughter no one would have thought he had a soft side let alone any family.
Hanji stood at the door with Erwin as they watched Levi get (y/n) ready for bed it was funny watching (y/n) fight to keep her eyes open as she brushed her teeth. It was also so pure and heartwarming to watch Levi do something so domestic and caring.
"she'll have to go home tomorrow," Hanji said as she helped Levi tuck her in bed she was already fast asleep " I know. A day wasn't enough" Levi confessed as he kissed her forehead.
"Maybe I could schedule some time off for you or for her to come visit. I'm not trying to take you away from your family Levi if you want to go to them all you have to do is ask" Erwin said, he had already scheduled a few days off for Levi to see his family after he found (y/n) had arrived on her own.
"Thank you," Levi said as he tucked himself into bed "now get out"  Hanji giggled kissing both Levi and (y/n) cheeks then blowing out the lights.
"good night, Levi"
"night, shorty"
"night eyebrows, shitty glasses"
Today was definitely not enough. Oh, how he wished he had more time with her to let you get to know his squad his place of work why he wasn't home. But time was always limited. two weeks from now they would be going on an expedition outside the walls he had a bad feeling about this one. He wished he had more time with her just enough time so that if he weren't to come back her wouldn't forget his face. Of course, she wouldn't forget the things he did because she did them to but he feared you'd forget his face. he didn't want to leave her but he also wanted her safe and he knew only he could keep every on everyone safe.
Pulling you to his chest Levi kissed her forehead sweetly and squeeze she tightly " I love you" he whispered knowing she was asleep, or so he thought.
"I love you too, daddy"  (y/n) mumbled as she nuzzled herself into her father's neck to sleep.
He smiled in the dark a real genuine smile, that's what he needed to hear.
"night night Captain" he chuckled
"night night mini Captain"
A mini Captain she was indeed.

he’s  not  used  to  the  commotion  of  children  either.  sometimes  bryn  wraps  themselves  into  something  so  small  that  they  can  be  overlooked  so  easily  when  conducting  a  survey  of  seemingly  vacant  room.  it’s  rare  that  bryn  hides  blatantly  -  dropping  beneath  tables  &  settling  behind  curtains,  but  sometimes  they  fold  themselves  behind  a  stack  of  pillows  &  make  a  nest  for  themselves.
as  far  as  children  go,  bryn  is  not  a  mess  —  however,  when  they  choose  to  be  small,  it  is  usually  mess  that  gives  them  away.
&  sometimes  there  is  some  force  of  life  that  rips  through  bryn  so  vehemently  that  there  is  no  amount  of  movement  or  activity  or  persuasion  that  can  assuage  them.  the  force  of  bryn’s  energy  sometimes  seems  to  shock  them  too,  but  they  forget  about  it  easily.
erwin’s  child  is  not  yet  six.  his  child  still  has  baby  hands  &  baby  feet  &  baby  cheeks,  even  if  they  speak  with  growing  awareness  for  what  i  means  in  relation  to  you.
waiting  for  bryn's  surges  energy  to  settle  feels  like  waiting  for  a  storm  to  pass.  by  nature  &  by  definition,  the  storm  strips  erwin  of  the  opportunity  for  composure.  it  leaves  him  with  paperwork  half-filled  &  imprints  of  makeshift  pillows  against  his  cheek  &  the  feeling  that  maybe  parenthood  is  a  transfer  of  personhood.
then,  the  next  day,  he  watches  bryn  try  to  make  breakfast  for  two  while  erwin  watches  &  reads  the  news  aloud.  then,  it  feels  like  personhood  shared.  then  it  feels  like  maybe  he  doesn’t  really  know  parenting  at  all.
he  barely  understands  bryn’s  commotion  when  they  lapse  into  it.  he  knows  even  less  about  the  kneebuckling  tornado  of  children  in  informal  settings  (  parent  mixers  &  birthday  parties  &  that  sort  of  thing  ).
erwin  doesn’t  hate  kids.  he  loves  his  own  child.  but  erwin  also  didn’t  evolve  into  himself  with  confidence  in  his  ability  to  distribute  delicacy  into  sticky  palms  —
&  he  has  fallen  short.  he  knows  he  has.  bryn  is  not  yet  six  &  sometimes  veers  into  something  too  sullen  for  their  age,  too  self-disciplined.  sometimes  erwin  has  made  them  cry  in  earnest,  &  he  has  apologized  for  that.
but  they  are  learning  each  other.  &  by  association,  erwin  supposes  that  he’s  learning  how  to  handle  commotions  of  children.  which  is  funny,  really  —  the  more  he  learns,  he  more  starts  to  see  remnants  of  juvenile  commotion  everywhere  he  looks  :  in  the  swarms  of  travelers  fighting  for  a  spot  on  the  train  in  the  morning,  in  the  thrill  that  people  seem  to  emit  when  they  go  to  support  a  favorite  sports  team,  the  restlessness  when  they  wait  in  line  for  a  morning  coffee,  in  the  shouting  &  fighting  that  happens  in  a  courtroom.
there  always  is  quite  a  bit  of  commotion.  children  are  just  more  joyful  about  it.
he  has  to  set  down  the  plate  momentarily  to  claim  a  grape  for  himself.  then  he  sets  to  holding  it  until  he  can  be  bothered  to  find  a  table.
he’s  still  not  ready  to  involve  himself  too  deeply  in  the  prattle  of  another  parent.  what’s  more,  he’s  not  particularly  thrilled  at  the  idea  of  repeating  a  familiar  conversation  :  oh  !  have  we  met  before  ?  i  haven’t  seen  you  before.  who’s  your  child  ?  that  tall  one  ?  with  the  hair  clips  ?  what  did  you  say  the  name  was  ?
&  all  of  this  would  be  followed  by  half-true,  half-empty  explanations  of  yes.  we’re  new.  it  hasn’t  yet  been  a  year  that  we’ve  been  here.  we  moved  recently.
it’s  mostly  true.  bryn  had  moved  recently  from   a  different  city  nearly  four  hours  away.  erwin  had  not  moved.  erwin  himself  has  been  based  here  for  longer  than  he  can  make  himself  admit.  even  if  he  travels  frequently,  acts  as  a  consultant  recently,  finds  himself  everywhere  —  he  finds  it  very  hard  to  imagine  any  world  where  he  was  not  bound  to  life  here.  he  feels  as  though  he  stands  atop  the  center  of  a  cog  —  not  fully  a  part  of  the  overarching  function  of  a  grand  machine,  but  able  to  see  most  movement,  able  to  understand  most  of  the  function.
most.  but  not  all.  he’s  still  stained  by  that  morbid  type  of  curiosity.
he’s  still  working  to  do  it  all,  to  see  it  all.  erwin  has  some  feeling  that  if  the  circumstances  are  right,  he  can  meld  himself  to  do  anything  necessary.
he’s  not  sure  how  easily  that  applies  to  his  work  with  bryn  —  but  in  theory,  it  should  be  feasible.  if  he  can  figure  out  how  to  organize  time.  if  he  can  do  better  about  understanding  &  meeting  four-thirty  deadlines.
erwin  rolls  his  shoulders  &  adjusts  a  crick  in  his  neck.  he  stands  tall.  it  sets  him  apart.
there  had  been  a  reason  that  custody  had  changed,  that  he  now  stands  as  primary  guardian.  &  the  reasons  had  been  debated  with  ugly  language  &  bitten  facts  about  responsibility  &  priorities  &  you  have  always  been  these  ways.  still  —  erwin  respects  bryn’s  mother.  he  had  never  loved  her;  she  had  never  loved  him.  terribly,  they  both  loved;  terribly,  they  coexisted  &  they  looked  at  the  worst  of  each  other  as  a  whim.  it  was  a  relief,  in  some  ways.
mostly,  it's  just  an  odd  thing.  because  the  worst  of  them  leads  erwin  into  a  room  decorated  with  crayon  drawing  taped  to  the  wall,  with  a  box  of  donut  holes  flaking  on  the  table,  children’s  commotion.  it’s  all  very  sweet.  it’s  all  very  typical.
the  people  here  are  trustworthy  &  mostly  tedious  &  mostly  incapable  of  seeing  the  worst  of  him.  if  this  is  the  case,  then  it  makes  him  uncertain  whether  they  can  see  the  best  of  bryn.  it  makes  him  uncertain  whether  he  can  really  gauge  the  best  either.
even  so,  it  makes  him  more  protective  of  bryn’s  time.  it  makes  him  even  more  determined  to  reshape  himself  as  he  must.  it  makes  him  even  more  certain  that  he  does  not  make  sense  in  this  space.  except  for  the  fact  that  he  does.
it  twists  his  lips  into  half  a  smile.  bryn  emerges  &  opens  their  mouth  for  another  grape.  he  concedes.
&  levi  entertains  him.
‘  you’re  the  caterer,  ‘  erwin  echoes  &  allows.  he  casts  his  eye  sideways  over  levi’s  stature  &  the  gruffness  caked  into  his  demeanor.  they’ve  met  now.  multiple  times.
levi  always  bristles  when  they  talk.  he  always  looks  though  he  wants  to  argue  with  erwin  (  even  if  he  agrees  with  him  ),  &  he  always  looks  as  though  he  hasn’t  yet  seen  the  worse.  he  might  be  able  to  see  the  worst  of  him.
erwin  drifts  down  the  table  &  tilts  his  head  to  study  levi’s  business  card.  he  sets  down  his  plate  &  pockets  the  thing,  tucking  it  into  an  inside  pocket  of  his  blazer.
‘  i’m  afraid  that  doesn’t  prohibit  you  from  being  generous  with  your  time.  are  you  catering  unpaid  ?  ‘
&  it’s  an  unamusing  joke,  but  erwin  amuses  himself.  ‘  that  wasn’t  so  hard  now.  time  is  a  valuable  thing  to  donate.  however,  it’s  always  good  to  prepare  for  the  worst,  isn’t  it  ?  ‘
even  if  his  tone  is  dry,  he  keeps  the  cadence  on  his  tongue  pleasant.  he’s  good  at  that.
even  if  levi’s  warfare  makes  him  exhale  a  laugh.
‘  you  could.  i  do  pay  extra  for  it.  it’s  possible  farlan  could  keep  his  program  afloat  just  with  the  tardiness  charges.  it’s  a  clever  way  to  run  business.  ‘
&  erwin  doesn't  have  much  of  an  alternative.
he  keeps  the  cadence  on  his  tongue  pleasant,  &  he  explains  himself  in  a  way  that  justifies  nothing.  no  excuses,  some  amusement,  &  continued  warfare.
‘  i  lose  track  of  time.  ‘
slate  eyes  are  careful   ––   he  watches  the  way  that  the  children  run  around,  careful  to  avoid  them  if  he  can.   he  doesn't  need  his  knees  knocked  into  by  them.   doesn't  need  to  worry  about  one  of  them  falling  down,  tears,   &   then  parents  coming  after  him  for  something  their  child  did.   really,  he  doesn't  hate  kids   ––   he  just  doesn't  like  being  delicate.   it's  not  built  into  his  nature,  even  if  he  loathes  to  admit  it.   he  doesn't  have  that  natural  affinity  for  it  like  farlan  does.   his  patience  only  goes  so  far.
but  he  shifts  his  body  around  them   &   tucks  against  a  wall,  presses  his  water  bottle  up  against  his  lips   &   watches  the  way  the  parents  interact.   he  should  be  doing  something  else   ––   it's  a  thursday  night   &   take  out  sounds  nice,  curled  up  on  his  couch  with  some  random  show  on  a  rerun.   but  instead  he's  here,  because  farlan  had asked,   &   he  has  a  hard  time  telling  him  no.
his  eyes  scan  over  the  table  with  food  on  it  again.   his  food.   his  catering.   tongue  tucks  up  against  his  cheek.   maybe  he  should  make  sure  things  are  in  a  better  position.   it  won't  matter    ––    the  kids  keep  knocking  everything  around  to  get  plates  of  donut  holes  with  sugar  on  them,  much  to  their  parents  dismay.   levi  doesn't  care    ––   he  doesn't  have  to  deal  with  the  sugar  rush,  they  do.
the  boxes  of  coffee  are  set  further  back,   &   there's  one  that  has  his  best  tea  in  it,  too.   there's  a  handful  of  cards  on  the  table  as  well  promoting  the  shop   ––   he  might've  agreed  to  cater  for  free,  but  he  will  use  it  as  an  opportunity  to  pull  forth  some  generated  business  if  it  he  possibly  can.
right  now,  they're  renovating   ––   it's  why  he  has  more  time  on  his  hands,  why  he's  been  finding  his  space  with  farlan  more   &   more.   levi  doesn't  do  well  on  his  own   ––   his  thoughts  tend  to  eat  at  him  until  he  has  to  get  out  of  his  apartment,  until  he has  to  find  some  other  vice  in  order  to  keep  himself  busy.   at  least  if  he's  helping  farlan  out  with  the  after  school  program,  it's  doing  something  good.   maybe  some  part  of  him  thinks  it  makes  up  for  the  fact  that  he  was  a  bastard  of  a  child.
or  maybe  some  part  of  him  is  still  smarting  from  his  break  up  with  zeke   &   the  fact  that  he  was  broken  up  with  for  who  he  was.   for  how  his  history  didn't  look  good  next  to  a  senator's  son.   there  had  been  a  time  when  zeke  hadn't  even  thought  about  that   ––   but  grisha's  getting  more  adamant  about  his  new  campaign    &   zeke's  got  a  silver  tongue  to  rival  his  father's  when  it  comes  down  to  it.   the  shop  was  supposed  to  include  zeke  in  it   ––   he  was  supposed  to  use  his  influence   &   connections   &   drum  up  some  business,  maybe  influence  a  write  up  or  two  in  the  paper.
instead,  it  had  wound  up  with  levi  changing  the  locks  to  his  apartment   &   avoiding  the  shop  whenever  he  knew  the  asshole  was  going  to  come  in.   his  brother  eren  still  stops  by  for  a  coffee  fix,   &   he  doesn't  have  the  heart  to  shoo  him  out  or  not  give  him  the  discount  he  normally  does.    so  he  suffers  through  it  with  gritted  teeth   &   zeke  staying  outside,  smoking  a  cigarette   &   purposely  leaving  the  butt  on  the  sidewalk  so  that  levi'll  have  to  sweep  it  up  later   &   be  reminded.
the  shop  is  doing  fine  for  itself  now  though.   it's  got  enough  behind  it  that  he  could  get  the  loans  in  order  to  do  some  renovations   ––   a  bigger  set  of  ovens,  some  more  counter  space  so  that  their  display  case  can  be  bigger.   he's  nearly  paid  off  his  mother  for  her  initial  investment,  too,  even  though  kuchel  had  insisted  her  not  do  it.   he  didn't  want  to  have  her  money  hanging  over  his  head   ––   it  was  given  in  pity,  her  own  way  to  apologize  even  further  for  his  background.   it  became  even  more  apparent  after  the  break  up.
nose  scrunches   &   he's  in  his  head,  delving  far  too  deep  into  waters  that  he'll  drown  in.   so  he  meanders  toward  the  table,  lets  idle  fingers  start  to  fix  things  up.   tries  to  ignore  the  imposing  blonde  that  is  plucking  grapes   &   setting  them  on  his  plate,   &   the  fact  that  his  child  runs  up  to  accept  one  before  running  back  off  to  join  their  friends.
this  isn't  the  first  time  he's  met  erwin.   he  seems  to  keep  meeting  him,   &   part  of  him  wonders  if  farlan's  doing  this  on  purpose.   it  only  sweetens  the  deal  that  bryn  is  a  sweetheart   ––   they  mind  their  own  business   &   are  patient  whenever  erwin  runs  late.   levi  doesn't  mind  them  so  much,  at  least.
their  father  though  is another  story   ––   he  sees  the  accusation  in  his  eyes,  like  he's  some  strange  dude  hanging  around  kids   &   it  takes  everything  in  him  to  not  roll  his  eyes.   he's  been  around  kids  all  his  life   ––   he  grew  up  in  that  part  of  town  where  everyone  knows  everyone   &   you  babysit  unofficially  or  manage  to  keep  someone  from  being  bullied.   he's  bloodied  his  fists  plenty  of  times  to  vouch  for  just  how  much  the  neighborhood  had  feared  him.
when  you  grow  up  fatherless  with  a  mother  that  was  a  prostitute  until  you  were  around  one,  you  learn  to  fight  for  yourself  because  nobody  is  going  to  keep  their  mouth  shut  about  that.
〝   jokes  on  you,  this  is  my  doing.   i'm  the  caterer,  so there.   〞    levi  sniffs  dismissively,  straightens  out  a  box  of  donut  holes  as  he  tries  to  mentally  count  how  many  are  left  over.   whatever's  leftover  can  go  to  the  parents  if  they  want  it,   &   if  they  don't,  he'll  load  up  farlan's  fridge  with  it.
but  levi's  eyes  dart  over  to  erwin  again.   he  makes  him  nervous   ;   he  doesn't  know  if  it's  his  stance  or  the  way  that  he  seems  to  loom  whenever  he  enters  a  room,  but  something  about  it  makes  his  back  tighten   &   his  jaw  clench.   it's  a  little  annoying  if  he's  honest.
he  supposes  he should  at  least  learn something  about  the  other.   or  let  him  learn  something  about  him,  however  it  wants  to  go,  really.     〝   my  place  is  getting  some  work  done  on  it   &   i  have  some  time  on  my  hands.   if  i'm  helping  farlan  out,  it's  at  least  doing  something  good.   i  do  know  cpr   &   where  the  epipen  is  located,   &   farlan  has  taught  me  child  cpr.   i  babysat  since  i  was  a  kid.   i'm  not  just  some  weirdo  off  the  street.   i'm  donating  my  time   &   helping  out  a  friend  with  an  after  school  program.   〞
a  shrug  of  his  shoulders,  but  he  has  trouble  meeting  his  eyes.   again,  something  about  smith  makes  him  feel  like  he  wants  to  run.   like  he  wants  to  do  anything  but  be  here  in  that  moment.   he  doesn't  like  it.
the  only  one  who  ever  makes  him  want  to  run  is himself.
〝   what  about  you,  huh?   you  show  up  late  every  day.   we  could  technically  take  that  up  with  someone.   〞   not  that  levi  ever  would.   he  knew  too  well  how  it  was  having  a  single  parent  who  worked  full  time.   at  least  smith  could  afford  to  have  his  kid  in  a  good  school  that  would  take  care  of  them.

Do not cheat you piece of shit
Pairing: Erwin Smith x reader
Warning: author tryna be funny writing, slurs, cheating(not erwin), age gap but not mentioned how much, reader is an adult, secretly simping hard, one sided love, terrible grammar, lotsa misspellings
A/N: so its my first time to write. Lotsa dialogues but mostly reader. I want to read something funny with erwin but yeah those are hard to find so if you know any please i beg of you SHARE!!! Its also based on my dream hehehe. There prolly be parts but i dont outlined shit so im just writing whatever. Teehee.
You walk ran? Ran walk? Whatever that's called, as fast as you could with your little legs towards his house, to the rescue, after receiving news that his girlfriend of six m*th*rf*ck*ng years cheated, got m*th*rf*ck*ng caught in their very own bed!
How can someone do that, cheat on their lover specially when said lover is set in life, from life insurance to complete training attendance on the ways of proper parenting.
Six years, down the drain just because she itch so much she couldn't wait for her boyfriend to come home from an overseas prestigious seminar for genius people by the genius rich people.
Reaching Erwin's two storey mansion with a big ass tree house in the backyard (told you he is serious), you didn't bother to knock, just straight up walk inside his home through his kitchen door at the back. And there he is,looking terrible, hunched over his laptop, grading spreadsheet on screen, and college research papers, scattered all over his dinning table, to grade.
"Wooah wow. You look like shit." Was your greeting.
"Hello, dearest friend, and good afternoon too. Yes, you may come in, the front door is open. And yes, I am well. Thank you for asking." And he have the audacity to smile at you with red rimmed eyes, unshaven face, messy and greasy hair probably from the wax he uses, all in his glory, wearing his tomato catsup stained shirt and avocado printed grey sweat pants.
"S'rry wasn't used seeing you like....that."
"Hmmm. As you can see, I am doing well." Is what he said gesturing at himself as if to say that he look normal as always and then picked up his red pen, started reading lines and lines of boring bordering between intelligent words on paper and straight up bvllsh1t w33d induced jumbled letters on paper.
"Erwin." You always call him eyebrows but this time you know that he is hurting and so that hurts you too. But what comes next out of his lips hurts you more than you should as you are only a friend. "This is probably what I get for waiting too long after buying that ring."
"Erwi-" you tried to stop him.
"Always waiting for the right time and now missing it." He continued.
"Stop-" Hands on your hips and eyes on his downcasted ones, you told him to stop and "saying that as if its your fault she cheated, that as if its your fault she chose to destroy what you both have. Its not. If its anyone, its all hers. She is the one at fault. Not you. Definitely, not you. Alright?"
"I should have given her more attentio-"
"You did! You never miss an occassion." To the point he was never let to go out with the group.
"You're always surprising her with dinner dates, cooking the food yourself." You remembered how lonely you felt when he forgot you invited him for your birthday party. That day made you realized how you felt about him and that you shouldn't feel anything about him you so kept a distance ever since.
"All the low calorie and high protein recipes you keep in mind because she is concious of her figure, you even wear whatever she wants you to wear, whether it be perfum, shirts or whatever." You kept your distance but you couldn't help to notice some changes in him. Like that very serious face he got when browsing the net of food to cook.
"You did gave her a lot of attention so don't give me that self-depreciating shit you're spouting. Stop shitting about yourself, eyebrows. You're too old for that shit." You defended Erwin against himself almost outing your feelings but gladly even thought this man is smart as hell, he is one oblivious thick wall, so you're safe except from Master Levi's disappointed eyes.
"You should really stop hanging out with Levi." Is what the dumbass said after all what you told him.
"You're absorbing him at this point-" a playful eyeroll from you.
"like a sponge from those super grocery stores and that is a lot of absorbing, Cheri." Cheri, the nickname Hange gave you because they couldn't be bothered to practice pronouncing your name right so it sticks in the group.
"Too late. I like hanging out with Master Levi."
"More than me?" He asked you with raised magnificent eyebrows.
"... no. I like hanging out with you more." Well he wasn't feeling well so it wouldn't hurt to be honest sometimes is what you thought.
"You're just saying that now becau-"
"I said I like hanging out with you more. Comfortable. Safe. You're good shit. Thought boring before but eh you make things interesting. Wouldn't even know that Michelangelo is so horny on main he painted nudes in a church or that story about two scupltor brothers making a lucifer statue that was just so hot for a church but the church is just so done with 'em brothers so they just let chad lucifer statue be displayed there." You mumbled jumble hocus focus your way around saying that he is a great person and atlast you heard him chuckle softly. How is this big man be looking stoic but so gentle at heart. Probably the reason college students loves him so much.
"So, what will you do now?"
"For the first time in my life, I do not know." He wore that tiny smile that barely stretch his lips and looked back down at his hands.
"How about gathering her things and burning it. I'll help you." You suggested with a wide evil grin
"I don't want to be arrested for arson." He denied you as he sweep his eyes down your hands and now finally noticing the big eco bag you've got with you.
"That's.." he trailed off.
"A big ass ice cream. Yes." You answered
"Cookies n' cream?"
"My favorite craving at the moment."
"Here." You placed the big pail of ice cream on the table. "Eat this shit for every meal. Its in the 101 ways on how to cope from stupid people by the more stupid people."
"How will.. that won't fit in my freezer."
"Then eat all of it? I help you? Or if we still can't finish it, that's a you problem. I'm out." You told him as you reach in the cupboards for cups but you can't reach it so you forgo cups for ice cream and decided to just eat it with spoon straight from the container. Master levi would be really disgusted at you but good thing everyone else in the group, except you, are super busy and not here. After all you're just an assistant of the assistant in the engineering research department.
"We are going to mope for a few hours, and then we'll gather her things, and also like return that ring so you won't do stupid shit like proposing to her." Is what you listed at him as the two of you eat ice cream like the scroundel you both are according to Master Levi.
"You're moping too? Why?"
"'Coz I've gotta deal with your eyebrows right now."
"I think that's also one of her reaso-"
"Oh shut it. You just want me to say you're eyebrow's game's on flick. I won't so shut it. Eat the damn ice cream I had to bust my ass carrying getting here. I hate your drive way by the way. Why is it so spacious? Such a waste of space and unnecessary." You ranted and let words just flow out of your mouth to disguise your blush. Unknowingly to you, Erwin smiled genuinely, always have felt lighter and safe whenever he is around you.

Hi jelly how are you? Hope you are ok.
What about Levi and Reader where there's an age gap not that creepy but she's in her early twenties and he's in his early thirties and nobody knows that there's something going on 👀 and I don't know hahaha something more funny and fluffy plis have a nice day!🤭😘
Hiii! I'm good, thank you. I do hope you're alright too! Ten years year gap is not a problem (thank you for saying the reader is in her 20s).
It's a secret.
Pairing: Levi x Reader
Genre and tags: canon AU, romance, secret love, fluff, Hange is the only suspicious one, stealing moments together.
Concept: You and Levi seem to get on well and you're close, which has Hange wanting you two to be together, but you both keep proving her wrong. Hange sees you and Levi around other people and her suspicions about the two of you slowly vanish. However, she is right. You and Levi are in a passionate relationship, you're just very professional in front of others and Levi really enjoys winding Hange up.
18+ stuff below. On top of the clothes things, teasing and a lot of swearing.
You walked with Hange as you looked through your papers for Levi. You glanced up at her and raised your brow. "Why are you following me?"
She huffed. "I know you are dating someone! I know it. I can feel it in my bones."
You shook your head. "I'm not dating anyone."
"You've had sex recently."
You smirked. "Maybe I'm just very good solo."
She blushed bright red, then hummed. "Maybe..."
You approached Levi as he shouted commands at the cadets as they trained. "Levi, I have some papers for you."
Levi put his hand on your upper back and looked at the work. "Tch, more bullshit?"
"Don't shoot the messenger."
He took the papers and sighed as he looked them over. "Oh, you've broken it down for me."
You nodded and pointed at different parts and explained. "Sound good?"
He hummed. "Yeah. Tch, still bullshit. Alright, I'll implement the changes."
"Appreciate it. I don't want my ass to be chewed because you don't want to follow the rules."
Levi glared at you as you walked off. "Tch, oi! Watch your fucking mouth, you pencil-pushing brat!"
You flipped him off. "Go fuck yourself."
He stomped his foot. "Get back here and say that to my face!"
Hange frowned a little at how you and Levi were. "Wow. I didn't know you two were at each other's throats."
You hummed as you walked with her. "Well, seeing me means paperwork. I'm your communication line. You give me stuff for the other squads and the crown and they give me stuff. I get so much shit that when someone is like that asshole, I just tell them to go fuck themselves."
Hange pouted a little because she was really hoping that you and Levi were a couple. She followed you for the rest of the day and joined you for dinner. She stared at Levi next to Erwin, then she looked at you across from her as you ate and signed papers.
Hange sighed, then groaned and said your name after. "You sure you're not dating Levi?"
You nodded. "Very sure. He and I would never work." You looked up at Hange. "Would you like to date a stressed out, barely sleeps, grumpy, and tea obsessed virgin?"
Levi slammed his fist down. "Says the work-obsessed, stuck up, pompous, snot-nosed brat. I wouldn't touch you even if my life depended on it."
You smirked. "Well, thank the heavens it doesn't. You don't even know what a vagina looks like, so I'm good."
Hange slammed her head against the table. "I'm wrong. I'm wrong. I thought...what a fool I am."
You watched Levi get up and walk off. "It's okay to be wrong." You finished your work, then cleaned up. "You walking me back Hange?"
She grumbled. "Sure." She dragged her heels as she walked with you. "Stupid."
You hummed a laugh. "You can't win everything. I'm flattered that you think I'm with humanity's strongest, but I'm too young for him. Go get some rest."
"Okay."
You let her walk ahead of you. You gasped when a hand covered your mouth, then you were yanked into a closet.
Hange stopped and turned. "Hey, so..." She frowned and said your name. "Must have forgotten something."
You breathed heavily through your nose as your back was held against a familiar warm chest that you loved exploring. You moaned when a loving hand popped a button, then slipped into your shirt and ran over your sensitive skin. You shivered when you felt a crotch rub against your bum. You were on fire with desire.
You turned your head and gazed at your lover, Levi. You hummed at him to release your mouth. You smiled when he moved his hand, then he kissed you. "Levi."
He nipped your neck making you giggle. "You know, I should punish you for all the shit you said to me."
You hummed a laugh as you reached back and tangled your fingers in his hair. "You were just as bad."
He turned you around, then shoved you against the door. "Was I now?"
You nodded as you nibbled your lip and felt a fire burn inside you. "I was a little hurt."
He pulled your shirt from your trousers, then pushed his hands up your waist. "Tch, least I didn't call you a tea obsessed virgin."
You wrapped your arms around his neck. "It was just playful banter. You and I both know that you are far from a virgin."
He pushed one hand up to your breast and massaged. "You've taught me well."
You panted and hummed as you felt heat build up between your legs. "You just listen to my body and me. You're a good man and I love you."
Levi kissed you, then nipped your lip and pushed his tongue into your mouth. He took your breath away as his tongue moved with yours and explored your mouth. Your head was fuzzy from the passion and love that came from him. It didn't help that he pressed his knee against the door right between your legs.
You pulled back from his lips and smiled. "I've always loved you and you know that."
He tapped his forehead against yours. "I love you too. I'm hopelessly in love with you, but Hange can never know."
You snorted a laugh. "Deal."

iced tea
Tumblr media
+ pairing: levi ackerman x reader
+ genres and warnings: college au, levi is the best not yet boyfriend au, erwin would definitely be an insufferable project partner to have but you gotta love him au
+ summary: there are three rules of night class. come on time, come prepared, and come with snacks. you forget about rule number three. luckily, levi’s there to save the day.
Tumblr media
There’s only one appeal to signing up for a three-hour night class, and it’s that you only ever have to muster up the will to attend once a week. It’s a sacrifice, but it definitely cuts down on the temptation of skipping like you would a normal, one-hour section course. Just one and done.
Plus, you have Erwin with you in this class. Is he a little bit of a professor’s pet and consistently overly chipper every class despite knowing he’s about to endure 180 minutes of lecture? Sure, but at least you don’t have to suffer alone.
Really, it’s not as bad as it sounds, especially if the course is interesting enough, or easy enough, and luckily for you, yours is both. Not to mention, your professor is brilliant, actually entertaining, and does her best to keep the class engaging—she’s funny in the dorky, lovable professor kind of way. And she gives you short, ten to fifteen minute breaks at every hour mark just to make sure everyone doesn’t completely lose their minds.
It’s a commitment, but you’ve grown to actually enjoy it. As long as you follow the three rules of night class: come on time, come with your notes prepared so that you don’t get upstaged by Erwin, and come with—
“Fuck,” you curse, watching as Erwin pulls out one of his many, tiny, organic, boxed juices. The ones meant for children with soy sensitivities that Erwin claims are packed with more nutrients.
“What’s up?” He questions, more shocked than concerned, at your sudden profanity as he sets his juice box in the right corner of his desk.
You pout. “I forgot to bring snacks.”
Come on time, come with your notes prepared so that you don’t get upstaged by Erwin, and come with snacks. Those were the only three rules of night class, and you’d completely forgotten about the most important one.
“Oh,” Erwin grins, pulling a chocolate bar from his lunch bag and taunting you with it, “Sounds like a you problem.”
You snatch a piece from the top corner, stuffing part of it into your mouth to spite him; but you regret your choices as soon as it melts on your tongue.
“What the fuck—is this mint chocolate?” you complain, swallowing the rest of the sweet with disdain.
“Yes it is,” Erwin huffs, grabbing the remaining stolen bit from between your fingers and popping it into his mouth, “And it is delicious.”
“You’re an actual menace to society.”
Erwin crinkles his nose at you, “A menace to society with snacks for the next three hours.”
His comment makes you groan, albeit a little dramatically, and you slump back in your chair to debate your options. Class doesn’t start for another twelve minutes; you could try and run to the student center quickly to buy some last minute snacks, but the line was probably already lengthy with students of similar trains of thought, meaning you’d be late if you stuck it out, which would leave you violating rules one and three tonight. Erwin makes you sit in the front row with him, and you were not willing to take the late walk of shame with an armful of snacks in tow.
You could wait it out until the first hour break, but they’ll probably be sold out of anything good by then, not to mention the race to beat out the line again. If you played your cards right, you could order food during class and time it so that it was delivered during your break, but that was risky.
Alternatively, you could try and sprint to the concessions stand near the library, but going there and back was so much further away than the student center; you’d probably end up late, too.
“Hey,” you call to Erwin, refraining from rolling your eyes as he sets all six thousand and twenty eight of his colored pens on his desk for the evening, “Is Hange still on campus?”
“No, they have work today.”
You groan. Why did Hange have to be so responsible and good with their time-management skills. They was your last hope. Unless—
“Do you think Levi will bring me Starbucks?”
“Probably,” Erwin shrugs, humming to himself; but then he thinks it over, replying again with a knowing smirk on his face, “Actually, definitely. If he’s still here, but he probably is. You know him.”
You pout, the possibility of Levi being home is high, but so is that of him being cooped up in his favorite library. Either way, he would likely be studying right now, and you’d hate to disturb him, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
[sent 6:47pm] you — leeevaaaaaaaaai are you still on campus
[received 6:47pm] leeevaaai — yes — why, what’s wrong
[sent 6:47pm] you — uwu — wanna bring me something from starbucks before class — i have my 3 hour lecture today and i forgot snacks :—( — and erwin won’t share his organic $1500 whole foods gummy bears with me
[received 6:48pm] leeevaaai — i told you i don’t like the smileys with the noses, they’re ugly — should you even be drinking coffee this late, you’ll be up until the ass crack of dawn
You scoff audibly, and Erwin takes this as an invitation to peep at your screen. Your comment about his snacks does not go unnoticed, as bitterly munches on his (yes, in fact, organic and gluten-free, as if it being mint flavored wasn’t criminal enough) chocolate bar.
[sent 6:48pm] you — that’s RICH coming from you mister
[received 6:48pm] leeevaaai — you’re being awfully rude to someone you expect to buy you a $7 drink
[sent 6:48pm] you — hehe sorry i loooove you leeevaaai — venti iced chai latte — light ice
[received 6:49pm] leeevaaai — do you think i don’t know your overpriced starbucks order by now
[sent 6:49pm] you — uwu :—)
[received 6:49pm] leeevaaai — but you’re getting a grande, i’m not made of money — and it’s punishment for sending another ugly nose smiley
[sent 6:49pm] you — un-uwu
“I don’t blame him,” Erwin chuckles, scrunching the wrapper from his now finished bar between his fingers.
You flick him away, ignoring the turning heads of your classmates as Erwin’s pens fall in the aftermath. It’s seven o’clock on the dot when your laptop pings loudly with an incoming message from Levi—and a subsequent groan from Erwin, who breeches your personal space once more to press the mute button on your keyboard.
[received 7:00pm] leeevaaai — where are you sitting
[sent 7:00pm] you — front row to the right — erwin’s idea not mine
Levi spots Erwin’s bright blonde hair before he sees you, scoffing to himself as he makes his way to the front of the room; a tray with three Starbucks cups, and a plastic bag in tow. Erwin sees him first, too, waving at him as he crosses from the left side to where the two of you are seated.
“Aw, Levi, you brought me one!” Erwin all but squeaks, reaching for one of the other drinks with grabby hands after you take your iced drink from the tray.
But Levi pulls one hot drink from the tray for himself, and pulls the remaining one out of arm’s reach. “As if,” he grumbles, bringing his own cup to his lips.
“You’re the best, Levi,” you smile, sticking your tongue out at Erwin. Levi only offers you a small nod as acknowledgement. He extends his left hand now, the plastic bag sliding off his wrist and onto your desk, silently.
Confused, you lean forward, setting your drink down to open the contents of the bag. Inside, there are two granola bars, a bagel, cream cheese, some kind of sandwich, and a small Nutella to-go cup with mini breadsticks attached. When you look back up at Levi, he simply shrugs, sipping on his drink again while a light pink dusts over the tips of his ears.
“You said you forgot your snacks,” he explains, “I knew you’d text me the whole time, bitching about how Erwin wouldn’t share his zero-calorie lemon rinds if you didn’t have your own.”
You take note that the chai he brought you was, in fact, a venti, and not a grande like he’d threatened, and that the granola bars in the bag are not only your favorite flavor, but from your favorite brand, too; and you find yourself smiling as you decipher the very clear message underneath Levi’s less than poetic words.
“What’s in the other cup?” Erwin asks, pointing at the remaining drink. Levi carefully lifts it from the tray, and sets it down on the other corner of your desk, a safe distance away from your laptop.
“Tea,” he says shortly, “So you don’t lose your mind after inhaling your coffee.”
“This is tea, too. Chai is tea, Levi.”
“Tea without milk or six kilograms of sugar,” Levi corrects you, “Or ice.”
“Iced tea is tea, you know.”
Levi doesn’t respond to that with anything but a glare. You smile at his stoicism. Erwin thinks the whole exchange is kind of weird, and wonders where you possibly get the gall to make fun of his taste in snacks when you can’t even realize you’re in love with a man who refuses to identify iced tea as a valid form of tea.
“I better go before she starts,” Levi speaks, a single hand referencing to your professor behind him, who looks just about ready to begin class for the evening, “Call me when you’re done, I’ll drive you two home.”
“Oh, you don’t have to, Erwin and I usually take the b—”
“Brat,” Levi cuts your words short, “Call me when you’re finished. I’ll be in the library.”
You throw daggers at him with your eyes, but your resolve is waning, once again, as you closely read at the implications of Levi’s promise. You accept, and Erwin is more than happy for the free ride.
Levi hums. “And eat the bagel before the Nutella.”
“You’re annoying.”
“I’m a saint,” Levi deadpans, placing the palm of his hand on the top of your head affectionately, “Call me.”
He walks away before you can debate again, just as your professor speaks into the microphone to grab everyone’s attention. You scrunch your nose, hands flying to your hair to smooth out the aftermath of Levi’s playfulness, before opening your notes for the evening.
“You’re really dense aren’t you?” Erwin asks, one eyebrow raised, but the overall look on his face is more than fond, “It’s kind of cute.”
“Huh?” you question, cheeks stuffed with food as you bite into your bagel, “Dense about what?”
Erwin shakes his head, turning back to laptop with an exasperated expression, the fondness in his eyes fading quickly. “Hopeless,” he mumbles, “The both of you.”

𝑨𝑶𝑻 𝑺𝑰𝑩𝑳𝑰𝑵𝑮 𝑯𝑬𝑨𝑫𝑪𝑨𝑵𝑶𝑵𝑺
A/N: as the middle child, i would like to say being a sibling is the best and worst thing ever. ANYWAY HERES SOME CUTE LITTLE HCS I WROTE MONTHS AGO PLS ENJOY
WARNINGS: mentions of death, angst and whatever else
HANGE
calmer one of the two
levi prefers you over hange ( or so he says we all know he loves hange)
you’re more brawn than brain
hange is like a mastermind
you capture titans for hange
Hanges older smfh they won't let you live in peace
“Can you-” “no.” “IM OLDER”
hanges actually pretty protective they just won’t say it out loud
levi enjoys watching you two fight
“I SAID MOVE!” “YOU FOUR-EYED FUCK!” while levi’s in the corner enjoying this
one time hange made this fart noise thing and put it under your seat, and when you sat down it made a loud fart
IN THE CAFETERIA IN FRONT OF LEVI AND ERWIN AND ALL THE FUCKING SCOUTS
no one believes that hange pranked you with it so the scouts call you “commander fart”
you choked hange that night
moblits so kind to you like KING
hange gets all excited and grabs you and shakes you so aggressively
if something or someone bothers hange you now have to kill the person
when hange loses their eye you’re kind to them but now you just bully hange
“hey look- oh wait” “YOU’RE NOT FUNNY ”
you help hange around with caring for it and stuff
also help hange through moblits death </3
you were close w erwin so hanges all like <3333
back to the bullying tho
hange makes sure you’re safe in the front lines <3
yelena tries to hit on you and hanges NOT having it
you and hange gush over the guns and new weapons Onyakopon showed you two
Levi’s trying to shut you two up
10/10 duo
ANNIE
Annie tried to keep you from becoming a titan so she took it herself
they ended up giving you another one because you also fought really well
annie’s all upset cause she wants you to live
you actually enjoy your time in paradis and annie’s all like “we have a mission stupid bitch”
one time annie chewed you out cause you hung out w sasha (you’re in love w her) and annie was like “you can’t be doing that, we have a mission” and you were like “FUCK YOU” and annie slammed the door and locked you out for the night. she was not having it
you and reiner are like twins and annie’s hates you both
you joined the scouts and ofc annie was like “okay you’re gonna die you stupid fucking brat but whatever no one likes you anyway”
those little night bonfire meetups would just end up in your and annie arguing
bertholdt takes your side and annie fucking FLAMES HIM
“i mean… we do need someone to bring us information from the scouts. Levi favors them and reiner could just be backup. I could bring the information to you, Annie.” “and who asked you? everytime you speak it makes me want to smash my head against a wall.”
she just wanted you to live
annie’s actually sweet she just won’t let that show through
once everyone was revealed from their titan form you had to fight along side w them
sasha hated you and annie had to comfort you :(
once annie was in that crystal everyone started targeting you
“are you a titan too???!!!” and all you could say was no
annie was your main concern when the rumbling started
you never left her side after that <33
MIKASA
ofc you grew up w eren around too
it hurt to see mika so in love w eren
you also could fight really well thanks to mika
when you joined the scouts w her she could tell you had a crushhhhhh
you would sit with sasha and just talk and talk and mika would be like :3
you and armin gang up on her sometimes
she cuts her hair and you help her <3
she has her scarf and mika gave you this cool bracelet you wear all the time
she protects you with her life and she can be affectionate sometimes <3
you and armin bicker cause he wants to be smart and mika always takes his side
meatrider
“mika you only take his side because you like him more than me.” “and?”
you get mad at her when she gets all worried about eren like girl
you comfort her because she’s an emotional person okay
when the rumbling starts you can tell mikasa has sort of lost herself
when eren said he hated you both you just stared and and blinked at him
ofc mika protected him from armin
when armin got into the fight mika was staring and you had to stick up for that poor boy
you then tried to fight and mika stood up for him again like MOVE
mad at eren but mika’s like “he has a plan ok:(“
mikasa becomes more protective, she can’t lose you either :(
you’re very mad at eren for causing mika to worry and stuff
overall, you just want mikasa to be happy but it’s so hard :(
SASHA
Levi swears he’s gonna kill one of you one day
you two drive him nuts
drive everyone nuts tbh
you, connie, jean and sasha are just uncontrollable
sasha likes food like she’s never eaten before
you’re more tame
you always share half with sasha, it makes you smile seeing her eat food like that
sasha’s so good with her bow and you’re better with ODM gear
sasha drives you crazy but you still love her
you killed a titan that almost killed her and you were scolding her and she’s like “I PROMISE TO GOD I WILL DO ANYTHING YOU ASK ME THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME PLS.”
she in fact did not keep this promise
she always sleeps on your bed with you
makes her feel at home
when you guys found kaya she threw you and kaya over that bridge and made you run
willing to die for you
you guys saw your dad and you’ve ever seen sasha so happy
so cute
sasha knows you have a crush on mikasa YOU CANT HIDE IT FROM HER
when the war of Marley starts Sasha’s all serious
proud of you all and sasha makes sure to let you know you did amazing
when you lost sasha you lost yourself
connie tries to comfort you but tbh you both just sit on the floor facing each other in silence
you take care of kaya and keep your parents safe <3
YELENA
you’re a bit shorter but still tall asfk
tbh yelena doesn’t care that much
she meatrides zeke and eren so you’re just kinda there to help
you’re really good at artillery so yelena uses that to her advantage
you get along with hange so well and yelenas like “you’re fucking up the plan.”
you don't really care you like your new friends
one time someone pointed a gun at you and yelena didn’t even hesitate to shoot them
so she cares but she won’t show it <3
when the general broke her arm you fixed it for her and she didn’t even mumble a thank you
you and onyakopon are best buddies
there’s not much to say yelena just bosses you around and demands shit
LEVI
BUCKLE IN PLS it’s a wild ride
he makes up these stupid rules like “NO DATING ANYONE” “STAY OUT OF MY WAY”
if Hange or anyone shows a slight interest in you he will go feral
everyone is amazed at the way you talk back to him
“Didn’t I tell you to clean out the cabinets?” “Get out of my face, shorty.”
he makes you train extra hard bc he hates you (he actually does it to protect you but wtv)
you always reply with “no” to everything he says
you actually clean really well because he raised you like that
you’re an extremely talented fighter bc of levi
you and levi = deadly duo
when kenny shows up he tries to target you first bc he knows that’s levi’s only weak spot. he raised you and levi together but saw you as the brains more than the fighter
makes sure that you’re not in complete danger, still lets you fight on the front lines because he knows they need you
he can tell you have a thing for hange
“do you like shitty glasses” “THEIR NAME IS HANGE AND NO I DO NOT”
sometimes he just needs your presence to feel better
silence and tea with you is his therapy
he likes seeing you hunched over some book. he likes seeing you at peace
never says good night but will peek into your office sometimes to check in on you
he smiles (A VERY SMALL SMILE OK) when he sees you asleep on your desk with papers scattered everywhere
leaves you there bc lets be real he will not carry you to bed
“Did you get taller?” “That's 100 laps.”
cannot handle you and hanges energy
one time you and hange went to jump in puddles and you came home dirty and he was like “you filthy fuck”
you guys share a love over tea
when the attack on Marley happened you could see the FEAR mold into Zekes face when he remembered there were two of you AND MIKASA??? DEATH.
Levi made sure to keep you safe that whole mission
was sad at you being upset ab sasha’s death
when Zeke was imprisoned w him you were there too
you blame yourself because Levi jumped in front of you when the thunder spear exploded
you thought you lost him
HANGE TO THE RESCUE
you got minor injuries
“Levi, you are so fucking stupid i’m gonna kill you!!” “You’re still as annoying as ever.”
levi lets you know you’re strong and that he doesn’t regret almost dying for you (savor this bc he not letting this happen again)
you tend to his wounds :(
hange tends to yours and Levi’s suspicious of y’all
overall you love being his sibling 10/10
JEAN
good god no one even knows your related by the way he treats you omfg
“don’t talk to me, don’t embarrass me, don’t even look at me.”
he actually broke his own rules and talked to you first
“Jean, do you like Mikasa?” “Remember when you pissed your pants? Yeah. Shut up.”
You joined the Scouts and ofc he joined to watch over you
“I thought we agreed on the Garrison.” “YOU said that. Not me.”
he thinks the scouts are pretty fun
“Do you like Sasha or something?” “JEAN THATS ENOUGH.”

when annie’s out of that crystal and you found out he’s like !!GAY ALERT!!
when he got that haircut all the girls wanted him and no one paid attention to your sexy ass anymore
you protect armin with your life <3
“How are they taller, but you’re older, Armin?” “THATS NOT FUNNY JEAN!”
he lowkey is a goat and you just sit back and watch proudly
now when armin gets stronger he defends you with his life
when eren sits you all down he said if you even move he kills armin
beat armin up and you lowkey got scared so you couldn’t defend armin
swore to kill eren and he’s like “:| oh i’m so scared.”
eren said that you just defend armin and that was your whole point in life was to defend a “weakling”
tried to beat erens ass but armins like “it’s ok leave it alone.”
you just love armin and hate to see him hurt
armins an awesome brother <3 he promised to show you the outside world
REINER

you can tell reiners like super depressed when y’all get back to marley
gabi and you try and make him feel better
you like to sit next to him and trace little shapes on his arm
hey he’s a big scary man but he just needs to be loved
protects you w his life
confessed that he also felt like giving up and you made sure to let him know that you loved him
you would have bake offs where you would purposely mess up your food just so he could win
pieck has a thing for you and reiners like “GO FOR IT”
when war on marley started he wanted to make sure you were ok :(
begged you not to fight but your titan was strong and they needed you

you can tell he starts losing himself in all of this
at some point he says things are changing and you two won’t be the same
it upset you :( he was your only brother
zeke wanted you on his side
that’s why he tried taking you and eren
you put up fight and told him he would never take you
so eren just told zeke ab you and how smart you were
this made zeke more determined
NOW levi didn’t let ts slide
you lost all hope for eren and you became closer to levi and hange and stuff
when the war of marley started eren looked so different you couldn’t even believe it was him
you were very upset at him you couldn’t even look at him
he stared in awe at you:( you looked just like your mom
all the years he was gone, he missed you a lot
you stood in the corner looking down the whole time while he talked to you in the aircraft
zeke was like :3 the whole time bro was just excited to meet his sibling
you didn’t reply or anything :( it just hurt that he left out of nowhere
then you found out sasha died and everything came crashing down
when all the jeagerist stuff was happening you had to find a way to sneak around town
flotch knew you would refuse to join so eren ordered him to forcefully bring you to him
when eren had y’all sit in at that table oh god nooooo
in a nutshell, he basically said he hated how you follow orders and was willing to die for the scouts. He said you deserved to be free and if you were against him, you were against your own blood.
he made you cry and armin was not having it

you sneak food out for Connie, Sasha and Jean.
you two can’t be serious
once the war starts Connie starts being more protective
he won’t let you fight frontlines, he makes you tail behind him, Sasha or Jean so they can protect you
he’s excited to get some action but at the same time he doesn’t want you to get hurt
you’re pretty strong so you carry multiple thunder spears
connie distracts them while you bomb them
badass siblings
once sasha dies you and connie lose it
you lost your gf and connie lost his other twin
you two never really recover yk since she died in your arms and connie was telling everyone sasha was hurt
it was so bad you were putting pressure on her wound and crying and Connie was freaking out and Jean was in shock
Connie was there for you and made sure you were ok
10/10 brother would recommend
ERWIN

you still have to salute to him and shit like bro chill
levi thinks you’re pretty cool
you’re like a mini erwin
you’re so good at fighting and hanges all like *insert hange blushing*
erwin likes to just sit down and talk to you at night it’s like a little stress reliever
you scold him for putting to much pressure on himself
when they said erwin was to be executed you lost it bruh
like NOT MY BOY ERWIN
once he loses that arm you stay by his side
you beg him to stay and not go out but he says he would die to find out the truth
you send levi to convince him but ofc look where that got y’all
you’re so mad at levi for saving armin instead of erwin
you genuinely thought erwin was gonna live
but no it was just some short kid with a bad haircut
you lost yourself and just really hung around hange and levi
10/10 brother you miss him a lot

The Secrets Between Us - Chapter 1
Series Masterlist
FATE
Pairing: Eren Jaeger X Female Reader feat. Levi and Armin
Genre: Royalty AU, Knights AU, Smut, Fluff, Romance
Word Count: 3.3K
Series Summary: As the only princess of The Paradis Kingdom, your life has been decided from the first day you were born. By the time you turn eighteen, you will be betrothed to Prince Armin, uniting two powerful kingdoms as one. Everything began to change, however, once you saw a beautiful boy lying unconscious in the forest behind your castle. His name is Eren, and he’s lost his memories. You invited him into your home, not knowing that he came from house Jaeger—the family that was massacred by your ancestors nearly a hundred years ago, seeking revenge.
Warnings (including for future chapters): explicit sex, adultery, mentions of blood and death
Poster art by the most talented @rainbuniart (follow her on Twitter)
Tumblr media
It happened on a beautiful spring day, the first time you met him.
A trip inside the forest that spread out behind your castle was potentially dangerous, but you were sixteen—old enough to know better but too young to care.
“When are you going to listen to me?” The Kingsguard, the strongest man your kingdom had ever known, Levi Ackerman mumbled out with a prominent furrow on his face. “I told you not to run around without permission.”
“But you’re with me.” You cheekily grinned. “No one can harm me when you’re with me, right, Levi?”
He sighed in response, something he did often whenever he was with you. Levi had known you since you were a baby, as he had sworn to obey the king’s commands—your father, Erwin Smith—to ensure the safety of the Royal Family in times of peace, crisis, and war. Usually, he would be walking three steps away from your father but on special occasions like this, Erwin would dismiss him for the day to keep you company instead, knowing how he was your only friend in the castle.
“Oi, watch your step, brat,” Levi warned, as you walked down a slippery road. He was the only one who was brave enough to call you without honorifics, not caring about his position. That made you feel content, more... normal. It was the very reason why you kept following him around.
“Oh, stop being such a worry-wart—” You tripped over a branch and fell on the ground, your pretty peach-colored dress now tainted with dirt.
Levi looked down on you, face filled with boredom.
“Please don’t say ‘what did I tell you.’” You pouted, offering your hand so he could help you up. The man lazily blinked his eyes and walked past you, keeping his hands to himself. “Ah! Leaving me just like that?! You’re so cold!”
“Don’t act so spoiled, brat, you’re not injured.”
But that was what made him so endearing. He might act nonchalant at times like this but there were times where he took direct blows to the face to save your life. The long scar that lined his cheek, blinding his right eye was the proof of that, which made you feel sorry till this day but knowing your status in the kingdom, harm could not be avoided. There would always be someone who wanted your family dead just so they could take the throne for themselves.
“Let’s go wash your hands.” Levi led you toward the riverbank and you followed him, pestering him with nonsensical questions just to pull more funny reactions from the man. From asking personal questions—“Levi, how come you’re so short?”—to ones about his nonexistent love live—“What do you think of Petra? She clearly has her eyes on you.”—Levi would always respond with either silence or scoff at most, but the little changes in his expression were enough to keep you entertained.
You lost your words when Levi suddenly stopped in his tracks, putting his hand mid-air to keep you in place. You followed his gaze and you found someone lying unconsciously on the ground, right beside the streaming water. It was a boy, young enough to be your age. He was lying down on his stomach, his dark green cloak hiding most of his body. His hair was raven and long enough to brush against his shoulders. It was drenched with both blood and water, covering most of his face. A dagger with a broken tip hung loosely on his hand.
“Stay where you are,” Levi stated, “I’ll go check on him.”
But you ran past him, disobeying his orders and you could hear him shouting behind you as you kneeled on the ground. You bent your head down to take a more detailed look at the boy’s face. Pushing his hair away, your eyes widened at the sight of his delicate features. He was so young, so…
Beautiful.
You were forced to snap out of your reverie when Levi pulled you back to your feet, his fingers clamping against your arm. “Brat, you’re testing my patience.”
“He’s still breathing,” you claimed. “But faintly. We have to take him to the castle.”
“We’re not taking a stranger to our castle.”
“But if we don’t save him, he’ll freeze to death!”
“That’s not my problem—”
“Levi!” You shouted, your heart thrumming as you curled your fingers around the fabric of your dress. “We can’t leave him.”
The older man took a look at your expression, seeming conflicted. But after what felt like an hour for you, Levi finally succumbed, clicking his tongue in annoyance. “This is why I hate brats,” he muttered. “Fine, I’ll carry him and put him on a horse. You stay close to me and do me a favor by not tripping over your feet this time.”
The feeling of relief washed over you as your lips broke into a smile. “Thank you!”
***
The boy was taken to a guest room and you called your family doctor to examine his body thoroughly. Two servants undressed him and laid him down on the bed, dabbing warm towels over his body to wash the dry blood and dirt away. As soon as the doctor finished with his ministrations, you visited him, sitting on the edge of the bed while keeping your eyes close.
His skin was pale but he was unscathed. The blood on his clothes and his skin was not his. He had a sharp nose, full lips that were naturally tinted with red though slightly chapped. His cheeks were blooming in crimson, bitten by the cold.
So this is how a boy looks like up-close...
“Stop staring at him like that,” Levi commented as he pressed his spine against the wall, arms folded in front of his chest. “You’re gonna drill holes on his face.”
“I-I’m not staring!” You could feel your cheek growing hot. At the sound of your voice, the boy stirred in his sleep, slowly regaining his consciousness.
“Where…” he croaked out, eyes narrowing as they tried to adjust to the sunlight that seeped into the room. “… am I?”
You beamed at him with the warmest smile you could offer. “In my castle. You’re safe.”
“Your… castle?” He frowned, shifting slightly so he could sit on the bed. “Are you the Princess—” His eyes suddenly shut close, his hand shooting up to touch the side of his head. He hissed in pain.
“Don’t get up yet, seems like you have a concussion.” You placed both hands on his bare shoulders, gently pushing him back down to the bed. His skin was almost as cold as ice, but it felt like fire when it met yours. Awkward and embarrassed from touching him, you retracted your hands and brought them to your lap. “You, umm, you must have hit your head pretty hard. There are no wounds on your body—just some little scratches on your palms but... Are you in pain? Do you feel nauseous?” You pulled the blanket to cover him up until it reached his shoulders, so you could focus on his face and not on his exposed skin. “I hope you’re warm enough now.”
He took a deep breath, head still throbbing with pain. “I’m… hungry.”
You blinked twice before breaking into laughter. “We’ll prepare some food for you in a few minutes. Can you tell me your name?”
His eyes finally drifted to your face and as you exchanged stares, you noticed how pretty his eyes were. They were teal green, shining brighter than the same colored diamond pendant you kept around your neck. They were stunning.
“Eren,” he said, didn’t seem like he could take his eyes off you either.
“And your family name?”
“Umm…” He had his eyes closed again, feeling a twinge in his head as he attempted to swim through his memory. “I can’t remember.”
“It’s okay, take your time.” Your eyes fell to the necklace he wore around his neck, a silver locket. “What about that? That belongs to you, isn’t it? The necklace.”
Eren’s eyes widened, appalled. He took his necklace away, fingers a bit shaky as he opened the locket. “Jaeger,” he whispered, almost inaudibly as he read the word. “My name is Eren,” he repeated, eyes peering into yours, looking as astonished as you were. “Of house Jaeger.”
“Jaeger?” Levi chimed in, surprising you both, and Eren immediately dragged his gaze to the man. “You’re Eren of House Jaeger?”
You could see the way Levi asked the question—as if he was investigating him—made him nervous. “I believe so, Sir,” Eren replied hesitantly. “Do you know my family?”
If he did, Levi never professed a word.
“I’ve never heard of House Jaeger.” You knitted your eyebrows together. “Where do you live? Do you have a family?”
“I…” Eren stopped, his hand going to his head, massaging the side of his temple. “I’m not sure.”
The doctor had mentioned that he might suffer from a memory loss due to his concussion, but you did not think it would be this worse. “Then, is there anything you can tell me? Were you attacked by someone? Your clothes were splattered with blood.”
“I think—” Every time he tried to remember, the pain in his head stood up harder and he flinched in agony. “I don’t know. I’m sorry. I really can’t remember what happened. Did I bring anything with me?”
“Only a broken dagger,” you replied. “And by the signature, it didn’t belong to your family. Maybe you picked it up somewhere? Someone gave it to you?”
Eren fisted the sheets underneath him. “Maybe,” he muttered weakly.
Levi kept quiet the whole time, listening to conversations while his thoughts ran on their own. There was one thing he was sure of.
House Jaeger did not exist. Not anymore.
The entire bloodline had been annihilated nearly a hundred years ago. From men, women, to children, they were all slaughtered with no mercy by your ancestors, the second they betrayed the king—your late, late grandfather. If Eren was really from the Jaeger house, then someone must have escaped during the massacre and continued to live in secret.
Is it a coincidence that he suddenly stumbled on a riverbank behind the castle? Levi thought, Whose blood was it on his clothes? Was he attacked by someone? Was he running away from something? Did someone try to murder him?
Or did he murder someone?
“Levi,” you called and the man blinked in surprise. “You’re frowning again. I’ve told you to stop doing that. You’ll look way older than you already are.”
“I don’t trust him,” he replied, loud enough for the boy to hear. “I think it’s best if we send him away.”
“No. He still needs to recover.”
“Brat’s more than fine. He still has two legs, hasn’t he?”
“You expect him to walk out from here? He doesn’t even know where he lives!”
“Milady,” Eren called, teal eyes glimmering under the morning sunlight. “I thank you for your kindness but—“
“Then you will show your gratitude by resting here until I say otherwise.” Your tone was stern but your smile was tender. “Besides, I’ve made my decision.” You turned your head toward the Kingsguard. “Since he has nowhere to go and no one to take care of him, he’s going to stay with me—with us, I mean.” You cleared your throat. “He’s going to stay with us for the time being.”
“Harboring a stranger?” Levi did not concede. “I don’t think your father will be very pleased with this.”
“But he trusts you, doesn’t he? That’s where you’ll come in.”
“And why would I convince him to do as you ordered?”
“Because this is not an order,” you corrected him. Standing up on your feet, you kept your hands intertwined and gave him a formal bow.
“Oi, oi, oi—”
“Levi, I’m asking you for your help.” You kept your head down, eyes fixated on the ground. “It’s not an order, it’s a wish. I rarely ask you for anything before but I’m bowing my head to ask you for your help. Please let him stay.”
“M-milady.” Eren sat right up, the blanket pooled around his waist, showcasing his bare chest. You tried your best not to look at the sight of a man your age, looking strikingly handsome with very minimum clothing. “Please raise your head. Don’t do this for me.”
“He’s right,” Levi added. “Don’t lower your head for someone like me. You’re making me sick.”
“Then will you help him?”
“Lord, you’re as stubborn as your father.” Levi exhaled loudly, pushing his hair back. “Fine. But only until the brat regains his memories back. And he’s going to stay in my room, not yours. You’re too young to have a man sleeping in your bed.”
“O-of course!” You blushed, looking away when you noticed how Eren’s cheeks were also reddening from his words.
“Why would you do this for me?” Eren questioned, shy and weak. “I’m nobody.”
You turned to him, smiling softly as you sat close next to him on the bed. “You’re not a nobody. You’re part of the kingdom, and it is my duty as a princess to help my people. Wouldn’t you have done the same if you were in my position?”
Levi clicked his tongue in irritation. “This is too embarrassing to hear. Hey, brat.” His tone was so spiteful that it made the younger boy freeze on his spot. “We don’t randomly take strangers into our castle, keep that in mind. You’re only here because she insists to have you here.”
“Yes, Sir.” Eren bowed his head to you. “Thank you, Milady.”
Before you could reply, Levi hastily asked, “Tell me your plans. What will you do once you recover? No one can guarantee your memories will come back.”
Eren parted his lips but couldn’t find his words. Now that he had nothing to remember but his name, he was left in the dark, barely owning a purpose in life other than just to continue living.
When he kept quiet, Levi continued, “If you have a family, then they must be looking for you sooner or later. But suppose you don’t, what are you going to do? Are you going to stay here doing nothing, leeching from us?”
“Levi,” you warned with a scowl. “You don’t have to say it like that.”
Levi threw you a look but it was Eren who answered. “I don’t want that,” he said. “I’d be disgusted with myself if I do that.”
“Then show your gratitude,” Levi suggested. “If you want to have a purpose in your life, then serve. Make yourself useful. Dedicate your life to the royal family. To her, the one who saved your life.”
“N-no, that’s not true. You’re not obliged to do that,” you assured him, flustered. You threw ice daggers with your eyes towards the Kingsguard. “You’re going too far, Levi.”
“No. He’s right,” Eren said, eyes gleaming with affection and tenderness. “You saved my life. I will be forever indebted to you, Milady. And if working here as a servant could be a way for me to repay your kindness, even just for a little, then I would be more than glad to do it.” He rendered you speechless, couldn’t even able to look him in the eyes from how sincerely he uttered his words.
“Then, from now on, your last name is no longer Jaeger,” Levi said. “Eren Jaeger is dead, along with your memories. You’re not the person you were before. You understand?”
Eren swallowed his breath. He nodded.
“I need an answer, brat.”
“Y-yes, Sir.”
“Good. You’ll be taken under my wing. If anyone asks, your last name is Kruger and you will spend the rest of your life as a servant, serving the princess to show her your gratitude.”
"I understand.”
“Will you swear you’ll protect her?”
There was only determination written on Eren’s face. “With my life, Sir.”
“Oh, not bad.” Levi’s eyes gleamed. “Then it’s settled.”
***
“What was that all about?” You asked in a whisper, the second you both left the room.
Levi closed the door shut behind you so Eren wouldn’t be able to catch on to your words. “His last name is Jaeger.”
“Yes, I heard that. But what does that have to do with—”
“Listen to me.” The sudden heaviness in his tone made you nervous. “There are some things you haven’t learned, something that we don’t really talk about within this castle. And I’m not sure whether your father would want you to know about this, but your family isn’t as chivalrous as you thought, Princess.”
“What do you mean?”
He hesitated, contemplating whether he should reveal everything. “I’ll only say this much. The Jaeger house was once powerful and a strong alliance. That brat’s ancestors used to hold important positions in this kingdom, even as far as being the King’s Advisor once. But with power comes greed and his family betrayed yours, trying to overthrow the king and taking the entire kingdom for themselves.”
“No.” You shook your head in disbelief. “There must be a mistake—”
“Mistake or not, none of that matters anymore. The entire Jaeger family was massacred on a night of the full moon. It was your late grandfather who gave the order. No one was left behind. Not even a baby.”
You shuddered in horror as the mental images appeared in your mind. “That can’t be…”
“But it happened,” Levi confirmed. “So, if that brat came from the Jaeger household, even just by having him wandering around the castle would already put his life in jeopardy as he’s not supposed to exist.”
You grew pale. You wanted to save him, but at the same time, you were putting him at the risk of exposing himself and getting executed for the sin he didn’t commit.
What should I do?
“And of course,” Levi added, “He could be a threat to you too.”
You shook your head. “He’s just a boy, Levi. I doubt he would want to become a usurper at that age.”
“Maybe not, but there’s a chance he wants to avenge his family’s death.”
“By taking my life? I doubt it.”
“Stop being so gullible!” Levi hissed and you knew you had gone too far. “I’ve murdered more men than I could count at his age. No one can tell what he’s capable of.”
“I…” Your tongue felt heavy in your mouth. “I just… I wanted to help him.”
Levi could tell you were frightened by him so he took a step back, giving you a chance to breathe. “I understand why you don’t have the heart to let him go. Brat probably doesn’t know how to fend for himself.” Levi exhaled, somehow exhausted. “I can tell he’s telling the truth about him not remembering anything. If he knew about his family history, which I’m sure someone must have told him by now already, he wouldn’t just introduce himself like that. He would’ve taken a different name.”
“Then… What should we do?” You bit your lip worriedly. “He doesn’t have anyone. I don’t want to leave him alone.”
Levi muttered, “Goddamn brats,” under his breath before he heaved a sigh. “Either way, we should keep an eye on him. We can’t let him go now that we know he’s a Jaeger. We’ll let him stay under one condition,” he declared. “You have to keep quiet about his surname and family history. You can’t tell anyone, including the brat himself. If someone knows that he’s a Jaeger, they will execute him.”
“Should I tell him to keep his real name a secret as well?”
“Don’t. Knowing how determined he was to protect you earlier, I think he’ll keep his words and play the role of Eren Kruger for your sake. Telling him to keep quiet about his last name would only make him suspicious. He’ll start asking questions about why we’re hiding it in the first place.”
“Okay.” You released the breath you didn’t know you were holding. “And what if he remembers?”
“If he regains his memories back,” Levi said, “If he remembers his family history and there’s the slightest chance of him hurting you, I will take his life with my own hands. Your family's safety is my responsibility. No matter how fond you are of him, I will execute him nonetheless.”
You gulped hard, your heart thundering. “Okay.”
“Promise me this and I will take care of everything else.”
“I promise.”
***
When you visited him the next morning, Eren looked much brighter, his face had more colors to it. The blanket had been folded nicely on the bed, the sheets were tidy and he sat on the edge, stiff and nervous with his fingers tapping against his thigh. At the sight of you, he took a sharp breath and promptly dropped to one knee, bowing his head.
“Milady,” he formally greeted.
“No, no, no, get up.” Blood rushed to your face, forcing him to get back to his feet by tugging on his arm. A guard was standing by near the door, squinting his eyes suspiciously at the special way you were treating the stranger you just invited to your castle. “You don’t have to bow to me like that.”
“Oh, umm…” He couldn’t meet your eyes, his cheeks turning a bit pink. “I’m sorry. I don’t know how to behave around royalties. And you’re the Princess, I really shouldn’t—”
“Eren,” You stopped him, squeezing his hand. “I’m your friend. Treat me as one.”
He glanced at the way your fingers were almost intertwined with his. “Umm... Okay.”
“Let’s start by calling me by my name, then.”
“What—no! That would be rude of me, Milady. I’m just a commoner, I’m—”
“Eren!” You flicked him on the nose and he took a step back, baffled. “What did I say about treating me as a friend?”
Rubbing his nose, he nodded apologetically. He tried calling out your name but when the first syllables escaped his lips, he gave up. “I can’t… It’s too much.”
“Fine.” You huffed, puffing out your cheeks. “Then just call me Princess like everybody else. You can at least do that, can’t you?”
His eyes shimmered in delight, almost like a child—a very boyish, handsome child. “Yes, my Princess!”
‘My’, he said?! You felt lightheaded as you weren’t prepared. The words fell so naturally from his mouth, making your heart run a thousand miles per minute.
“Just come on.” You diverted the topic, hoping you could mask your embarrassment by turning around. “I’ll show you around the castle.”

[Actor!AU] Relationship HCs
Tumblr media
[Levi + Eren]
Tumblr media
Levi Ackerman:
Even though he still has his RBF off-screen he’s a hell of a lot nicer than people think he is.
Probably asked Eren if he was okay several times before and after the trial scene.
They used one of your tweets that read, “I want Levi to break my back like a glowstick” during those “____ reads thirst tweets” videos and his face immediately became full-on red when he saw your @.
I mean, he was blushing before, but when he saw that it was you he jokingly says, “I had no idea they posted this... Why are you like this. If you wanted me to break your back you could’ve just asked me to my face.”
Great with puppies, kittens, children, and other infantile creatures. If he’s carrying a bouquet during an event or something and a kid comes up to him, he’ll give them a flower.
“Levi Plays With Puppies While Answering Fan Questions” probably got over a million views in less than half an hour.
NO ONE DOES BUSINESS CASUAL BETTER THAN HE DOES!!
People probably take more pictures of you two at the front row seats of fashion shows more than the models themselves.
Probably has the Rihanna Effect™ where he’ll wear something that looks bad on the OG model on the runway, but once he wears it, it’s suddenly fashionable.
Speaking of Rihanna he’s probably in a random music video of hers like Mads Mikkelsen in “Bitch Better Have My Money.”
HE’S STILL AN ACTS OF SERVICE MAN THROUGH AND THROUGH.
On one hand he does expected “gentleman” things like opening doors for you, closing your car door after you, holding your bags, etc.
On the other hand he goes to the extreme.
If he’s not filming something or busy, he’s by your side doing all of the jobs your assistant is supposed to do.
The directors and cameramen are looking around being like, “Where’s our Important Character Levi” when they need to shoot scenes, but if they find you they’ll just see him following you around, holding an umbrella over your head in one hand and holding your coffee in the other.
When they first saw it everyone was like...couldn’t you find someone else...that’s not an extremely important cast member to do that... but it’s just Levi, he insists on doing it himself. Your assistant has the easiest job in the world because he elevates all of their jobs for them.
CAREFULLY HOLDS THE TRAIN OF YOUR DRESS ON RED CARPETS
When your hair gets tousled or locks fall over your face during filming or photoshoots, the cameramen will point it out, but before any of the hair or makeup people manage to get to you, Levi will just ;; walk over and fix it himself. The two of you probably have the softest smiles at that moment when he’s carefully brushing your hair out of your face.
Isn’t in a lot of roles. He definitely gets offered a whole bunch of roles!! but especially when you two started dating, he told himself that he didn’t want you guys to crash and burn like many other celebrity couples since they normally spend a lot of time apart and are usually thousands of miles away from each other. When he’s not filming AOT, he tends to take a break from acting and go with you to your jobs.
However, if he does find himself in a role that he wants to do, he’ll definitely appreciate it if you reciprocate, but doesn’t expect nor force you to.
Instead he’ll leave your assistant with a long-ass list of how you like your coffee, what you like to eat after a long day of filming, how to approach you when you’re stressed, etc because this man has been doing your assistant’s job the entire time asdfghj
The only time he’s gently smiling in paparazzi photos is when he’s with you, other than that he looks angry or bored. Like he’ll be at a beautiful beach party with Erwin and Hange but he’s just sitting in the shade with a drink in one hand looking inconvenienced.
Tumblr media
Eren Jaeger:
OKAY
There’s this one video of Dylan Sprouse putting his hand on his heart like it’s the national anthem or something when Barbra Palvin walks by on the runway AND THAT’S EXACTLY EREN
When he sees you walk by either on a modeling gig or on the red carpet this man just stops ,,, and immediately stares and puts his hand on his heart like he’s seen Jesus.
ALSO does anyone know that one video of the dude tripping over his words when he tries to talk to Jhene Aiko during an interview.
When you and Eren first met he had to bring Armin as a translator because he was never able to get a straight sentence out in your presence.
He was legitimately stunned stupid when he saw all of your red carpet looks or interview looks when you two were still new friends during S1 or something.
follows Ere[Name] ship accounts on twitter and your stan accounts.
Why do you even have a publicist. He’s your personal hypeman. Sometimes people get confused when they go to his official instagram bc it’s just pictures of you, him promoting your stuff, or really grainy, desaturated pictures of you two doing dumb things together like doing the JOJO Torture Dance together on an empty street at 3AM. These are interspersed with pictures of him when he has to promote something that’s like in his contract.
When he posts pictures or stories that doesn’t have you in it, the comments are all, “Where’s [Name].”
When little kids come up to him during panels or out on the street he’ll get jokingly concerned that they’re watching AOT. Like, “Y-You watch the series?? Do your parents know? Is it too scary for you?”
Tries to make you laugh by pulling funny faces where the camera can’t see him.
If you mess up on your line, he’ll immediately build on that and goof off with you, resulting in the two of you getting yelled at.
Quality time is one of his love languages, so like Levi, your managers will work together to make sure your schedules work with each other.
Sometimes when you have other roles outside of AOT, you might catch him as some regular extra in the background.
It can’t be helped if sessions go on for too long sometimes, but if it becomes a reoccurring thing due to unorganized sets, he’ll fight with the director and crew to get a break since it’s important for everyone to get some rest.
If your character is shipped with some character That’s Not Him, the directors know not to show his face during kiss scenes or romantic scenes because he’ll legitimately break character and pout or become so stone faced that he can’t emote at all.
This Academy Award winning actor will just go 🧍 on the sidelines while you’re trying to kiss Jean for a scene but his stare is burning on the side of your head.
Eren to Jimmy Fallon or something, “I guess Jean and [Name] are cute but it would be better if it was Ere[Name]. No, no I’m not complaining or anything...”
GAVE HIS EVERYTHING TO ATTACK ON TITAN JUNIOR HIGH.
Begged the writers to have more Ere[Name] content in Junior High.
If they let him direct an episode of AOT he will film it like Parks and Rec or The Office.
[Eren: commits war crimes
Camera: swerves and zooms in on your face grimacing and Levi’s dead expression while he stares right at the camera.]
People probably know that they can’t interview him/force him to do lives after shooting because his voice is gone after all that shouting as Eren Jaeger.
Has a Dan-Emma-Rupert relationship with Mikasa and Armin. He legitimately sees them as siblings even off-set.
