Any cute headcanons when Lexa is pregnant in your unrequited love fic? I just want them to be happy and in love already
Some of these might be spoilers for The Act Of Falling in Love so I'll hide them under the read more in case anyone doesn't want spoilers!
Before they conceive, there are some failed tries. Lexa was sure that with her heat and Clarke's rut a baby was a guarantee but it just doesn't happen. And if Lexa can't conceive she is, by their societies standards, a worthless omega. While she doesn't believe that nor does Clarke, Lexa does fear that without love and without being able to give Clarke an heir, she'll leave her. It's more common now, for alphas to leave their mates, dissolve the mating mark and find someone else if the omega doesn't produce a child. When their one year of marriage approaches with no child, some of Clarke's friends do whisper to her about leaving Lexa in between chuckles. Clarke never entertains the idea and reassures Lexa more than once that a baby is not and never will be a stepping stone in their marriage or Clarke's desire to love Lexa.
From the moment they find Lexa's pregnant, Clarke is constantly touching Lexa's tummy. Of course there were touches and cuddles before, but now Clarke will ask if she can touch her bump like a shy child.
Lexa's corsets stop fitting her chest pretty early on and she cannot complain about the extra attention Clarke gives them. Clarke has always been quite the gentle lover, but now there's a fire in her even outside of her rut, like the simple sight of Lexa drives her wild. The tenderness in which Clarke treated her so far was nice and warm, but there is something about being wanted and desired and lusted after in the passionate way Clarke seems to be developing that makes her long for more. She knows it's not love, not yet at least, but something changed in Clarke with Lexa's pregnancy.
Despite all the passion, Lexa refuses to let Clarke say she loves her while she's pregnant. She wants Clarke's love to be for her and her only, not because Lexa is carrying her child.
Clarke abandons paintings of green prairies and wild waves in favor of paintings of Lexa both before and during pregnancy. Sometimes Clarke doesn't know how to express her feelings, so her paintings are always a good indication of it ;)
Lexa's omega is extremely independent. She walks to the orphanage and takes strolls around the estate and goes on horse rides alone frequently. Clarke's alpha is over protective and overly worried about everything. After the painting incident they barely fight, having learnt to discuss things up front. It's not a huge fight, all Lexa wanted was to walk to the orphanage one last time before the baby arrives while Clarke insists she does by carriage or not go at all, before both grumpily settling on going the two of them, Clarke sitting to the side a little awkwardly because she doesn't really know how to interact with kids while Lexa reads them a story. Clarke eventually finds a little one crying, afraid of the dragon in Lexa's tale and moves to comfort her, the tiny pup falling asleep in her arms and Clarke suddenly a natural at moving with the small one in her arms. Lexa does not care if Clarke is falling in love with her or not anymore, but she for sure keeps falling more and more in love with Clarke everyday.
Neither of them can sing. Lexa was taught piano and can be a little tone deaf when it comes to singing. Clarke learned to play the guitar slightly and has no rhythm to her voice. That doesn't stop them from late at night, when neither can sleep because the baby is nearly here and he wont stop moving inside Lexa's belly, excited to meet his moms, singing to him. It's horribly sang, Clarke's raspier voice not really mixing well with the higher pitch Lexa sings in, but it feels intimate and its as much for the both of them as it is for the baby. Clarke's hand on Lexa's bump, singing against her hair while Lexa rests her head on Clarke's shoulder, and Lexa whole hardheartedly believes this is love. Even if Clarke doesn't feel it or isn't ready to accept it yet, even if Clarke never realizes it, Lexa has never felt more loved and adored than she feels in those moments.
