hey so i just had a rlly cute idea for teen dad au??? uh ur writing makes me rlly soft btw but BASICALLY when taem is in like kindergarten or first grade right n kibums dropping him off n they hear the other parents talking abt how young kibum is n how !!! Scandalous!!! it must be wow such scandal right n before kibum can even say anything taem rlly angrily stomps up to them n goes "my daddy just couldn't wait to have me >:-(((" n keys rlly soft because uwuwuwu his soft son he's so proud of taem

side note: i spent so long in my teen dad au tag because i could’ve sworn i’d done something like this, but it turns out lmao it’s jinki from single parents jongyu who says that to lil baby taemin, not key from teen dad au lmao

but!!!! i love that phrase and it’s totally something kibum from teen dad au would tell taemin so!!!

About half-way through Taemin’s kindergarten year, the other parents have realized that the young man who drops Taemin off is actually his father, not his brother like they’d all assumed. Kibum hears some of the moms whispering to each other when he drops Taemin off sometimes, but they usually never say anything to them and Taemin doesn’t seem to realize it, so Kibum doesn’t want to make a scene or cause any problems. The gossip-moms will get over it eventually. They’ll find something else to talk about soon enough.

Except it takes them forever to get over it. It’s weeks and weeks of them whispering about how young Kibum must have been when he became a father.

Taemin has asked before why Kibum is so young compared to some of his friends’ parents. Kibum has always told him, “It’s because Daddy just couldn’t wait any longer to have you!” Taemin always giggles and hangs off of Kibum’s neck and presses sloppy kisses all over Kibum’s cheeks whenever they talk about it. Kibum always laughs right back and wraps his arms around Taemin’s back and swings him around. He doesn’t want Taemin to feel bad for having such a young dad. He wants Taemin to be happy and smile and not realize how different his life is from most of his friends. 

So when the gossip-moms whisper loudly about how scandalous it is that “That Kibum boy is Taemin’s father. He’s so young,” Kibum is ready to steer Taemin over to his class’s line to wait for the bell to ring. Taemin, however, had another idea.

Kibum watches as Taemin stomps right over to the group of gossip-moms, a pout firm on his face and his little hands gripping his backpack straps.

“Taeminnie, let’s get in line for when the bell rings,” Kibum tries to say, but Taemin just continues to stomp his little feet over to the group of moms.

“I like that my daddy had me early,” Taemin tells them. “He just couldn’t wait any longer to have me. And he’d be no fun if he was old like you.”

“Taemin!” Kibum gasps, rushing over and spinning Taemin around to face him. “That was not nice. Apologize.”

Taemin pouts at him, his little eyebrows furrowing in annoyed anger as he can’t understand why his dad is so upset with him.

“Now, Taemin,” Kibum tells him.

Taemin huffs as Kibum turns him back around, and he narrows his eyes at the group of moms in front of him.

“I’m sorry for calling you old,” Taemin grumbles. “But I’m not sorry for telling you you’re wrong.”

Kibum snorts, but he tries to hide it behind a cough as he tells Taemin to go get in line. He watches as his little boy goes stomping over to his friends and plops his backpack next to his friend’s. After a quick word with the moms who have been talking shit about him for weeks, Kibum rushes over to Taemin.

“I’m so proud of you,” Kibum whispers to him as he kneels down and kisses Taemin’s cheek. “You’re the best little boy a daddy could ask for.”

“I know,” Taemin tells him, nodding his head. “That’s why you couldn’t wait to have me.”

Kibum laughs, smooths back Taemin’s hair, and kisses him one more time before saying goodbye and telling him to have a good day.

“Bye, Daddy! Love you!” Taemin calls, blowing Kibum an exaggerated kiss. 

Kibum smiles and blows one back before going back to his car to go to his own classes.
