colleague: i don’t even know how i had time to watch all that stuff. i used to watch anime-

colleague: yeah. i used to watch a lot

me: :O like....girlish or boyish anime? sailor moon? (standard to sus out person’s addiction).

colleague: no..too girly.

me: (oooh..now i’ll dig deeper) ... so cardcaptors?

colleague: i own all the manga. i recently sold it all

me: ...what else? (...ok. she obviously is into more anime since she has collected the manga)

colleague: fruits basket

me: omg! I could never get into that one because of the animation at that time, but i’m loving the 2019 animation better...so I’m actually following it now

colleague: THERE’S A NEW FRUITS BASKET?

me: yes!! watch it! what else do you like?

colleague: ouran hostclub, naruto, bleach...

me: wtf. what??? (i’m still in complete shock because she does nursing and doesn’t look like an anime fan). how about NANA?

colleague: I LOVE NANA

me: i’m still devastaed how Ren died.

colleague: the annoying Nana too..you still can’t help but feel sorry for her.

me: ikr? 

colleague: i even cosplayed as sakura from naruto

me: WHAT?

me: *dying from laughter* ... fuck...how about fullmetal alchemist?

colleague: TINY MINY SKIRTS

me: *snaps fingers*

colleague: ok, we really should get back to work now xD

.... I fell in head first and watched inuyasha, sgt.frog, black butler, fullmetal, hostclub, and death note in a freaking rotation. Few episodes of each here and there. I think I finished deathnote or host club first though.... or maybe fruits basket..............

Everyone’s starter anime is death note.

I don’t count sailor moon or dbz cuz you watched those as a kid and assumed they were cartoons.

I mean when you got “into” anime fully aware of what it was and actually became immmmmmersed in this bizarre weeb culture.
