twst food culture part ii
Tumblr media
This is a supplementary post to continue off of this larger TWST food culture compilation post (as that one is getting super long as is).
Shaftlands
Macarons are one of the Shaftlands' signature sweets. Cream and raspberry, as well as lychee, are the popular flavors at the moment.
Macarons can be frozen so recipients can eat them fresh.
There are people who collect the stylish boxes that macarons come in.
According to Vil, mixing flavored syrups with carbonated liquids is common in the Shaftlands.
Stewed foods are the Shaftlands' specialty. This is because there are many stories about the Fairest Queen preparing many foods in a pot.
Apples are the most popular fruit in the Shaftlands. They are used for drinks, desserts, jams, and even savory meal items.
The Shaftlands favor flavored teas
Fairest City
There are few food stands in Fairest City. This is because eating on the streets is seen as bad manners.
There is a strong cafe culture.
Fairest City is famous for its cuisine and sweets. Their sweets in particular are well developed due to the city's cafe culture.
Sweets with a pleasant appearance are popular. The most famous of patisseries make sweets which are like pieces of art.
Some sweets featured in famous patisseries include tarts, chocolate, mousse, macarons, brioche, roll cakes, financiers, mille-feuilles, and cakes shaped like apples with apple sauce inside, caramel apples, etc.
A specialty of Fairest City is "cream puff rings", which are cream puffs in ring shapes. They are meant to resemble wheels on rail cars, since Fairest City is located near mines. It is said that the cream puff rings (which is filled with a thick, high-calorie cream) were originally given to hard-working miners to restore their energy.
Luxury stores may offer amenities in addition to providing their services or helping customers shop. For example, staff may offer VIP clients drinks or chocolates.
Fairest City’s hotels have swanky restaurants built into them for guests to dine in. The fanciest of eating establishments are five star restaurants that have full sets of cutlery and napkins which you unfold and place in your lap.
Fancy dining establishments offer food à la carte (ordered by the plate) and prix fixe style (picking your courses from a predetermined selection).
There is a drink called “Diabolo Menthe” served in Fairest City. It is a spearmint flavored syrup mixed with a slightly carbonated liquid. Very refreshing! (This is most likely a reference to the potion that the Evil Queen drinks to transform into an old woman.)
Eric Venue, Vil’s famous movie star father, uses a five-star restaurant to cater buffets for his movie shoots for every 6 hours of work. They also have snacks and drinks on demand (“craft services”), which includes coffee, milk, tea, juice, chocolate, fruits, and pancakes and waffles. Lots of light foods!
Many dishes at high-class eateries are French. For example, hors d’oeuvres might include escargot (snails), foie gras de canard (duck foie gras), and terrine a la campagne (country-style terrine). Courses are also named in French (viande and poisson courses, etc.).
Some dishes served include boeuf bourguignon (a beef and red wine stew) filet mignon de porc aux pruneaux (a pork filet with dried plum; it is made with pig heart, bouillon, and sauce), and flounder poêlé (flounder with an herb sauce). The beef bourguignon is a favorite dish in the five-star hotel restaurant that caters for Eric Venue.
Pork, especially the heart, is prized meat in Fairest City. Many of its dishes are pork-based. There is a story about how the Fairest Queen needed a heart for one of her potions and had her huntsman hunt as a tribute to her; the filet mignon de porc aux pruneaux dish was born from this legend.
The restaurant that caters for Eric Venue has a specialty dessert called tart fine pomme. It is a thin tart with slices apples. The restaurant uses the highest quality of apples (from Harveston), which are grown in a special soil, for their dishes and drinks.
Sage's Island
Night Raven College
The Mystery Shop sells certain limited breads.
The school cafeteria serves pies so delicious that they impress even students that hail from the Queendom of Roses. This is because one of the ghost chefs studied abroad in the Queendom.
Heartslabyul (cont. from part i)
Unbirthday parties can include meat pies, egg tarts, tarts, icing cookies, washed down with milk tea.
They also serve a drink that seems to be a reference to the Drink Me beverage in Alice in Wonderland. It changes flavor with every sip!
It is tradition to eat scones with lots of butter and jam.
Black tea is traditional in the Queendom.
Queendom of Roses (cont. from part i)
The Queendom is known for its pies.
Scalding Sands (cont. from part i)
Spiced teas are what’s popular.

Four Flushing
Part 4 of my Vera x Vox story.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
A/N - I really hope you guys are enjoying this, I didn't think I'd write so much for them. I also hope that my writing is at least enjoyable.
CW: Smut and Valentino lmao
After replacing his screen and dealing with an angry Val all week Vox decided that maybe the best thing to do was to take the moth Overlord out for a night of fun and debauchery, and what would be better than a gala thrown in honor of Hell's royalty. Personally, Vox abhorred these sorts of events, but the chance to schmooze and make connections was always a bonus. Valentino loved to dress up and cause drama, so this seemed like an excellent idea. He had very simple pleasures.
They made their way to the party in a sleek Voxtech limousine. Vox slipped out of the car before a shade could open his door. Valentino on the other hand sat there until the shades opened his door, there was nothing he enjoyed more than being waited on hand and foot.
Vox was already halfway through the entrance, phone in hand, before Valentino caught up to him. Draping his arms around Vox and pinching his ass. Vox could only sigh and check his texts and emails.
Several new messages, but not the one he was hoping for.
"Come onnnn papito, I want to dance!" Val shook him lightly, tongue licking the side of Vox's screen.
He had to turn the charisma up, he was literally here so he could get Val off his back, a couple hours of fake smiles and back home for a hate fuck shouldn't be too bad.
So Vox slipped his hand into Val's, "of course," he crooned, "let's dance." They made their way to the dance floor where Vox spun and twirled Val around, every now and then stopping to drink champagne and talk to the other patrons. It wasn't until something caught his eye that he stopped.
A light blue flame moving its way to the tower of drinks.
-----------
Vera looked at herself in the mirror, adjusting the shimmer on her cheeks to make sure it caught the light from her flames just right. Jericho, her roomie down stairs, had received tickets to tonight's Gala courtesy of his current royal boy toy. There were perks to being a pool boy to one of Hell's own Goetia and that included tickets to events they'd never attend otherwise. So of course Jericho was taking Vera as his plus one, the intention was to nic as many jewels and wallets as they could, drink till the night turned to dawn, and eat their fill of shrimp. The shrimp being the most important part.
Vera's mind idly wandered to her phone, he had never responded to her text and that was more than enough for her to call things over.
Maybe he'd be there, or maybe not.
"Oh baby!" Jericho's voice rang from the door of her flat. He sauntered over to her and grabbed her hips pulling her flush against him. "I could eat you up right here. Let's forget the party and fuck right now."
She turned around in his arms placing her own around his neck, and bumped her forehead into his, "but shrimp."
He sighed, "but shrimp." Grinning, he grabbed her hand and spun her around, "you look stunning though."
"I know," she shrugged, "You're not half bad yourself." She gave him a once over.
"Hey, I'm hot and you know it." He slicked his hair back admiring himself in the full length mirror, the scar across his nose and his milky eye more prominent than ever. Jericho always tried to show off his wounds when hanging around the rich folk, knowing damn well they all loved a bad boy.
Jericho and Vera walked into the party arm in arm. It was definitely a party for Hell's wealthiest, large buffet tables lined the exterior, a Champagne tower at the center of the room, and a catering service of shades taking people's plates, glasses, coats and whatever else.
Vera quickly scanned the party, making note of anything she could see herself wanting, large plates of shrimp, and the crystal champagne flutes looked nice too. She sauntered over picking up the champagne and giving it a sip and grimacing. It didn't matter if you were living or dead, alcohol was still disgusting. Crystal was nice though, she dumped the rest of the champagne in a nearby plant and stuffed the glass into her bag, along with a few of the larger shrimps she saw. She was in the middle of munching on one when a voice got her attention.
"You know if they catch you they'll kill you." Vera whirled at the staticky voice.
Vox.
She wasn't sure she'd see him here, and she was extra sure he wouldn't have approached her. Here he was though, dressed smoothly in a pinstripe double breasted suit. That darling debonair smile on his face.
"And what about if you catch me?" Vera aired up at him, eyebrow cocked.
"Catch you! Ha! I'm here to help you!" His grin grew even brighter. He turned her around, hands lightly gripping her shoulders, he pointed her at a group of overlords she didn't recognize. "You see that windbag over there," he pointed a claw at a particularly old looking lady wearing what looked like a raccoon skin dress. "She's fuckin' loaded with jewels at any given time, plus the bitch is as blind as a bat."
"Oh? Do you think she needs a new friend?" She turned back, a look of innocence on her face.
"Absolutely. Now go get 'em tiger." He slapped her ass as she began strutting toward her new target.
Vera turned back, "always such a charmer." She gave him a wink.
Vox chuckled to himself as he grabbed two flutes and made his way back to Val. It was a risky move, but he couldn't just not say anything.
"Oh look at you talking to the Spitfire Demon." Val hummed when Vox handed him his drink.
"Who?" Vox played the uninterested fool.
"Hush, I don't blame you boo, she's smoking." He leaned heavily on Vox downing his drink. "Girl used to run with a crew and I would've given my best assistant to have them in a gang bang." He emphasized this by clenching his free fist tightly. "They would've made me millions!"
"Used to? What happened to the others?" Vox did his best to keep the curiosity out of his voice, it was all business all the time.
"They all died or some shit, exorcists got 'em. A waste of good flesh if you ask me." Val walked around leaning into Vox, "you planning on asking her to bed with us tonight? A third could be fun."
"No no, tonight is all about you," he grabbed Val's hand and kissed his knuckles. He wouldn't admit it, but the idea of sharing Vera brought the taste of bile to his mouth, he didn't like the thought of Valentino running his hands over her body.
"Damn right it is, now come on chica I want to dance more!" The moth shimmied his way back on to the dance floor beckoning for Vox to join.
Vox leaned back against the counter, "give me a few, I don't have nearly as much stamina as you, I'm gonna see who I can blackmail."
Val pouted, but Vox only waved him away. "Go, have fun, make out with a hottie, I'll be back!"
When he was sure Val was thoroughly distracted, grinding up against some poor strangers, he began searching the crowd. He spotted his little flame walking down a long dark hallway heading away from the crowd.
It made him nervous, did someone find out she'd been stealing? Was she going to be with someone else? He was already well aware of the other man that Vera had arrived with, but he'd seem too interested in shoving his nose up a Goetia's ass then spending time with her. So he dropped it.
But what was she doing now? He had to know, he had to follow her. Make sure she is ok.
Sparing one last glance at Valentino, who seemed very interested in checking the tongue piercing of another Overlord with his own tongue, he swiftly made his way through the crowd towards the hall that he'd last seen Vera heading down.
He couldn't believe how stunning she'd look, long velvet gloves and a short black dress that hugged her body in all the best ways. Tulle flowing from her waist to her legs giving her just the tiniest bit of secrecy. She was gorgeous and he was sure that someone would snatch her up by the end of the night. He couldn't let that happen, but how to get around Val was the question.
She had managed to disappear when he'd finally reached the hall, it made his heart thud with anxiety, he walked further into the darkness, about to call her name when a hand shot out from an open door and snatched him inside.
"What the FU-"
"Shhhh or do you want to get caught!" A voice whispered, he noticed the blue flames burning dimly, and the piercing blue eyes staring at his own.
They were pressed together in a small storage closet, him and his little flame. Vera. His breathing grew ragged almost immediately. Her proximity to him was almost dizzying.
"You know, I thought you were done with me, but that little show earlier-" She ran her hand up his chest and started fiddling with a button, "made me think otherwise."
He let out a huff, "done with you, doll?" He wrapped his hands around her waist and pulled her closer. "Never. I just had to get Valentino off my back, he'd been bitching and moaning ever since-"
She leaned in and silenced him with a kiss.
"We don't have much time Vox, our dates could be looking for us."
He got the idea and kissed her back full force. Pulling her even closer than you'd think possible. Her arms snaked their way around his shoulders pulling him in, leg reaching up to wrap around his waist. When she sighed into his mouth he took the opportunity to sneak his tongue inside. She tasted like candy and bubblegum, he laughed internally at the notion.
They started to grasp at each other, squeezing what their hands could find. When Vox bumped into a shelf of buckets and bottles that rattled about, they both stopped in their tracks, waiting, listening.
When nothing happened Vox jumped on the opportunity.
He quickly moved her skirts to the side, going to press his fingers into her delicious heat, but when he got there.
"You're not wearing any underwear?"
She grinned licking his neck, "panty lines are a bitch."
Vox groaned, he could feel his pants getting tighter by the second, "You're so fucking hot."
He pressed into her, delighted by how wet she already was. She moaned softly, and he started to pump faster spurred on by the quiet noises she was making. When his thumb found its way to her clit she let out a much louder sound. Vox grinned.
"Shh, we're going to get caught if you're not quiet." She bit his neck to stop any noises she would make as he continued his ministrations. The feel of her teeth piercing his skin was almost too much. He made a note that the next time they were together they could be as loud as they wanted.
She was close, she knew it, he knew it.
"Faster Vox." Vera panted out, her knees were trembling and he grabbed her throat to help keep her upright, but also to add a little more pressure to the buzz she was already feeling.
She was starting to see spots when it hit her. A strangled sob tore through her, muffled by the hand around her neck. Her breathing was heavy as she tried to regain her composure, leaning into Vox and panting.
Vox held on to her tightly, he pressed his screen into the top of her head breathing her in. She smelled of smoke and lavender, her skin was soft and slick with sweat. He wanted to leave with her, to take her home and have his way with her. He wanted to have breakfast the next morning and maybe show her his sharks. He was sure she'd like them. They could go out to that little restaurant Velvette was telling him about the other day for lunch…
"God I've missed you." Vox mumbled into her hair.
Vera, who had recovered and was undoing the buckle on his belt, froze. She looked up at him, expression unsure, but Vox was too absorbed in the moment to even notice. Her breath came out a little more uneven than she would've liked as she let go of the clasp on his belt. Sliding her hand up to rest on his chest, he leaned into her touch, vibrating at the soft motion, almost purring.
"Vox I think we need to leave before anyone notices we're missing." Vera whispered, looking away from his screen. He squeezed her a little tighter, a little closer.
Finally he released her, groaning. "You're probably right, I can only imagine the amount of trouble Valentino is causing right now." He glared off into the darkness, with no view of Val, it was the best he could do.
Without another word Vera popped the door open, slowly and quietly, checking the long hallway to make sure the coast was clear. After confirming it empty, they both slipped out and headed in opposite directions.
They were in the clear, no way they could get caught now especially since Vox controlled every video camera in the pentagram. Vera's heart was still racing though, even as she made her way back to Jericho. As he grabbed her coat so they could make their leave. As she saw Vox standing there with Valentino wrapped around his arm, his eyes never once leaving her own. When she climbed into her bed and lifted the covers over her. When she thought about the way he held her in that tiny broom closet. When her phone lit up with a notification.
"Fuck! Fuck, fuck, fuck."
She needed to end this.

you say you want (me) (part nine of ?)
title: you say you want (me) (part nine of ?)
author: Aenaria
rating: G
Weekly prompt: salute to Jimmy Buffet/Pirate AU week at @darcylewisbingohq
Characters: Darcy Lewis, Steve Rogers
tags/warnings: Darcy/Steve, soulmate AU
Summary: In a world where having a soulmate mark is the norm for most people, Darcy Lewis is one of the rare few unmarked people. Of course, this doesn’t stop her from finding the right partner.
Note: I’ve finally got this collection up on AO3! You can find it here.
*
When Steve and Darcy spoke about going on vacation, they’d planned something quiet, a hotel room somewhere down the shore for a week and spending time on the beach with a couple of towels and a cooler.
Then Tony stepped in.
“Look, no one needs a vacation more than you do, and I know you,” Tony pointed out when Steve had confronted him about the reservations that had shown up in his inbox. “Neither you nor Darcy would even think to treat yourselves like this.”
“Because it costs an arm and a leg.”
Tony shrugs, not meeting Steve’s eyes as he shuffles around his lab. “Not for me. You deserve to go somewhere special, so let me do this for you, okay?”
Well, who was Steve to argue with that?
That’s how he and Darcy found themselves vacationing at a very exclusive full service resort somewhere in the Caribbean, with every need of theirs catered to, and with a level of privacy that they definitely wouldn’t have gotten on the Jersey Shore. Which, Steve has to admit, is far more appealing than it should be. The thought of spending his vacation signing autographs and answering questions about his not-soulmate girlfriend…yeah, it had given him pause.
On this vacation day, Steve wakes up late in the morning, with the sun shining through the double doors of their little villa right into his eyes. Actually, he’d been awake with the sunrise and had gone for a run on the beach, and when he’d returned Darcy was still in bed sound asleep, all soft and warm. It was hard to resist laying down next to her. He’d obviously dozed off again, because the sun is now higher in the sky and Darcy’s side of the bed is cool, long abandoned.
Still, there’s a note propped up on the mound of pillows next to him.
“At the beach, come find me xoxo.”
One bathing suit and a loose shirt later Steve heads over to one of the other beaches at the resort, the one that has the snack stands that Darcy fell in love with the day before. The sun’s practically baking his skin, the sand crunching between his toes, and it’s a lovely, novel feeling. It doesn’t take too long to spot Darcy’s lounger, close to the blue, crystalline water that laps against the sand. Although…
“Why are you wearing a pirate hat?” he asks.
Darcy tips her chin up at him, giving an aloof look from under the black and white felt of the cheap pirate hat. “I left my sun hat back in the room. The bartender was gracious enough to scrounge this up for me from behind the bar.” She raises the margarita she’s holding in her free hand in a toast and takes a pointed sip of it, as if daring him to comment.
Instead, a grin just spreads across Steve’s face. “It’s a stunning look on you.”
“Isn’t it just?” she smiles back. “Now, go grab a margarita and come soak up some of this beach air with me. It’s the perfect day for it.”

Tuna Sea-Side Party RSVP \o/
Name: Aberdeen
Favourite colour: Light silvery blue
Favourite summer activity: Lazing about in the shade (excellent napping spot with the cool summer breeze) whilst stuffing my face with food :7
Party outfit: Must be prepared for anything, a swimsuit underneath with the good old classic T-shirt and shorts combo
Additional luggage: A pool float to lay on, and my secret weapon a portable fan~
Party activities: Hovering around the catering area and enjoying the free lunch, the best time to nap is when you're full so that's exactly what I plan to do (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
Plus one: Grim, all I managed to say was free and he immediately agreed
Tumblr media
---
After a good long nap under the umbrellas, sweet and savory smells lulled Aberdeen out of their sleep. Just as timely, Grim pounced on over practically drooling as he spoke "Time to wake up sleepyhead! The buffet is set up finally!" Grim quickly began shoving them off the cushy chair. Aberdeen grumbled "Ok ok~ don't shove!"
The two made their way over to the long table with plentiful selections of delicious food. Azul was quick to greet them with his charismatic smile "Feel free to help yourself, all the food you see here can also be ordered at the Monstro Lounge as well. Feel free to come by anytime to reminisce in the memories of this trip through our menu!" Despite the kindness of his customer service, it was obvious Azul took this all as a business venture. Aberdeen shook their head but thanked Azul nonetheless.
Grim was already grabbing at a plate, getting his fill of tuna cans. Aberdeen followed suit and snatched up the best of the selections. Being the first two at the buffet, everything was in full stock and freshly made. Before long, Grim began to complain "Hey! Help me out my plates too full!" Aberdeen rolled their eyes "Maybe you should eat what you have first!" Grim scoffed "and miss out after everything's been taken? I don't think so!" Aberdeen scolded him "Your eyes are bigger than your stomach Grim~" Grim paused and looked at his belly before touching his face "Nuh-uh! my stomach is clearly bigger!"
Despite Grim's stubbornness, the two ended up settling at a table after filling up their first plate. Chowing down and chatting idly, more people began to flood the buffet. Grim frowned at the sight and scarfed down the last of his tuna. "I need to get back over there! I still haven't tried the desserts!!!" Grim said as he wobbled out of his seat. Aberdeen giggled at the gluttonous cat. It seems there will be more than 2 trips to the buffet.
---
I hope this was ok!!! I feel like it might be a bit bland writing;;, but i also really enjoy the food table at events so i wanted to focus on that and Grim's never ending stomach LOLOL. BUT ALSO EEEE UR OC IS SO LOVELY!!! I love the jellyfish theme for them >V< Their flowy hair is so <3 <3 <3!!!!
Thank you for joining the event!!!! I hope you can enjoy!!!!

Another story, this time for someone I met on Twitch. No vore today, they wanted an anthro bombchu being burpy and too fat for clothes at a buffet.
2.8k words, estimated reading time 14 minutes.
I'm weaving inbetween the other buffet staff as I come back from my lunch break when my phone buzzes from a text message. It's a message from my boss, "Get the private room ready, we have a party that just bought it out for the full 4 hours. Full dessert catering, you're head waiter on call for it, get them whatever they need."
Looks like someone is having a celebration. The private room only gets broken out for big events and occasions. It's also something of a surprise to see it not rented out weeks in advance, typically we have plenty of time to prepare. The buffet table will need to be set up along with all the chairs, there is even mood lighting and a sound system available at the customers request. It's a lot of work, and I waste no time heading over there to start unpacking it all.
Normally I'd have other staff helping me, but with how long this party has the room rented for, I suspect most of the other waiters are helping the chefs prep the massive amount of food that will be required to cater this event. For someone unfamiliar with the restaurant business, it's hard to really comprehend the massive amount of food that gets made for this kind of stuff. There is always waste at the end, but that table needs to be kept fully stocked for the entire duration we are contracted for, and a large group can clear out that table faster than you might expect.
Fortunately I've done this plenty of times before, and I'm able to get the room ready in no time at all. Two dozen soft padded chairs run up and down a massive mahogany table, ready to be decked out with desserts. The stage is set, and the actors start to pour in. Other staff cart in all kinds of decadent sweets, plates of warm brownies, trays of moist cupcakes, and even a self service milkshake machine to let the guests refill their drinks on the fly.
It looks like we made it just in time too, my phone buzzes from another text message telling me to meet the first arrival out front. Apparently this party has wasted no time getting here, checking my watch, it's been only an hour since we started setting up! Its a quick walk through the dining area where other servers cart around plates piled high with everything from mozzarella sticks to chicken wings. Cheap filling food makes up the bulk of our menu, and more than a few customers have decided to take full advantage of that fact. Plenty of patrons are lazing about in booths, either taking time to digest their massive meals, or having their plates refilled to further indulge in gluttony. I have a job to do however, and I make it through the front doors just in time to see the guest of honor stepping out of his cab.
The anthro bombchu is among the strangest species I've ever seen, never mind had as a patron. While still apparent from his large incisors, most of his rodentine heritage is obscured by more exotic features. Rather than the rounded ears of a rat, his are more akin to those of a fox, and are kept slicked back by a mask in a navy blue color so dark it's nearly black. His dull yellow fur is a color that I am likewise unaccustomed to seeing, and only serves to let him stand out from the crowd even more.
Indeed his species is so exotic that it takes me a few moments to notice the other obvious physical trait he has on display, his considerable obesity. Wide thighs and a low hanging gut constrained tightly by a button down shirt tell a story of extensive feasting. It's quite common to see someone with a good bit of heft eating here. Once your appetite grows past a certain point, all you can eat buffets become the most economic option. I'm all too familiar with the regulars here, proper gluttons who can't eat anywhere else without breaking the bank under their ravenous hunger. I know a few of them are even larger than this guy, so it's nothing I haven't seen before. Big furs need big meals, and I could hardly begrudge our most loyal customers for their needs. We have reinforced benches available for our larger clients and offer other services to help those who have overindulged on food for a reason. Few things build customer loyalty like a bellyrub to settle your stomach and a shoulder to lean on when you waddle your barely mobile behind back to your car.
Plenty of other buffets are all too happy to kick out someone who hits their 3 plate limit, but we've acquired a reputation for catering to the needs of big eaters, and it's a badge we wear with pride. Here you can glut yourself until you are too full to stand, ask for your tenth plate that evening, and get it brought over to your table. You just can't get that kind of service anywhere else, and as I walk him through the main dining area, he gets plenty of examples of the extent of the services we offer. The smell of the other customers meals sets the rotund rodent's stomach rumbling and his hunger motivates him to keep a quick pace to the rear of the establishment where I open the door and reveal the dining table decked out in decadent sweets and with a massive cake laid out as the centerpiece.
He dashes past me in a wobbling sprint as I shoot out a quick text to my boss, "Guest of honor is in the private room, do we know when the rest of his party is arriving?" and almost immediately get a response "It's only him." I glance up to see the bombchu already shoveling cookies onto a plate with reckless abandon before I text back "What?" and look back to watch in awe as the bombchu tips the plate back and lets the stack of sweets on top of it slide into his gut. The sight is so mesmerizing that I almost miss my phone buzzing, "Guy's got a lot of confidence, we've already gotten paid, I don't expect problems." Whoever this guy is, he's got to be loaded, and suffering from the kind of hunger that normal meals just won't touch. I'm in no position to judge others for their vices, so with no further objections I get to work stacking up platters for him to demolish.
The blubbery bombchu is so eager to eat as fast as he possibly can that it's inevitable he would swallow some air during his binging. An uncomfortable sounding gurgle emanates from his guts before being followed by a loud BUURRUP. He only takes a brief moment to sigh in relief and pat his gut before returning to his gorging. Working at a buffet, I'm used to people occasionally overindulging, but this guy is something else. It's like he isn't even aware of how far beyond reason his gluttony has taken him.
The cake is up next on the chopping block. It towers over the both of us, dense, moist, and coated in a thick layer of rich frosting, it stands as a testament to the skill of our catering crew. It is also cake however, and that means it is spongy and full of air, an issue that is only compounded by the fact that it's final destination is inside the belly of a bombchu who is eating like his life depends on it. I cut thick wedges of cake and plop them onto his plate where he decides to forego utensils entirely, settling for picking them up in his chunky paws and cramming them into his muzzle as fast as possible. By the time I start cutting up the next tier of cake, he is already licking his paws clean of frosting with smacking noises occasionally interrupted by a short URP.
Chew, swallow, burp. Once the bombchu gets into the rhythm of eating, he doesn't stop, letting pressure build up before releasing it in sugary belches. His digestion ramps up in response to the gluttony, and calories are quickly processed into pudge by the thousand. Yellow diamonds of fur start to peek out between the buttons on his shirt, growing wider with each gulp before shrinking slightly when he burps. Every time the cycle repeats however, a fraction more fur is exposed, and the already strained stitching gets pulled more and more taunt.
Eventually, something has to give, and it's certainly not going to be his gluttony. To my surprise, the fabric next to the buttons rips open in a frayed line, the thicker thread holding the buttons on proving more resilient in the end. Fluffy yellow flab oozes out from the tear, but the bombchu doesn't even seem to notice, he is evidently far more occupied with cramming more sweets into his maw than maintaining his modesty. He just grunts in relief at the release of pressure before letting out an airy EHUURRRP and continues stuffing himself.
Slices of cake continue to get snapped up by the ravenous blubberball, having decided to just cram chunks into his maw and swallow them whole rather than worry about chewing. Every few swallows of compressed cake are met with another BHLUURRP and the sounds of his shirt continuing to shred itself in a desperate attempt to cling to his rapidly widening frame. Soft belly flab slowly frees itself of its prison with each gulp, forming soft rolls and revealing a deep navel.
I'm bringing over the next plate when a deep BRUUUULLP rumbles out of the bombchu's bloated belly, showering me in hot air and the cloyingly sweet smell of partially digested desserts. He gives his distended midsection a couple good slaps before returning to his feasting as if nothing had happened, clearly more concerned with getting his money's worth out of the experience than he is maintaining any semblance of decorum. In a way, I'm actually somewhat envious of him. The most complicated thing he is going to be thinking about for the next few hours is whether he grabs his next bite with his left paw or his right.
Layer by layer the cake gets stuffed inside the slovenly rodent's garbage compactor of a gut. Every bite strains his clothes more and more and swallows are frequently accompanied by the sounds of a few more threads giving up the fight against thick squishy bombchu blubber. The tiers on the cake vanish slower as they get wider and his stomach gets fuller, but eventually our gluttonous guest of the hour manages to completely destroy the dessert, the last evidence it ever existed being wiped away completely when he licks the crumbs and frosting from his chops. A loud HUOOORP offers up a final eulogy for the massive dessert before the bombchu decides to move on to greener pastures.
Having had enough feasting on the solid food, I can see him eyeing the shake machine set up on the far side of the table, no doubt looking to quench his thirst after eating all that cake. He tries and fails to heave himself out of his seat, having stuffed himself into near immobility. Recognizing my skills are required, I put a hand on his meaty shoulder before asking "Need some help?" and getting a nod in response.
I'm well accustomed to customers eating more than they can stomach and needing some TLC to get back on their feet. The gold membership offers belly rubs among other perks for a reason, and as he has decided to rent the private room, the bombchu is entitled to all those benefits until his 4 hours expire. It takes a couple minutes to haul him up off of the bench, but once he's up it's just a matter of helping him make a jiggling waddle over to the other end of the table where the soft serve machine is. He pants and groans all the while, no doubt painfully full with sweets, but he's still quite motivated, and it doesn't take long for him to flop into his new bench once he gets there, where his shirt finally gives up completely, leaving his pudgy belly and chest exposed.
An ominous gurgle from his still sloshing stomach gives him pause before he beckons me over to start rubbing his gut, no doubt keen to take advantage of every service this establishment offers. My paws meet his doughy flesh and I'm shocked at how much give I feel when I sink into his belly, it's more like a balloon than the food packed gut it should be. An astonishing amount of air is still inside it, trapped underneath all that food. No wonder he can keep eating, he's hitting his limits with gas long before his guts fill up with food, the moment he lets out some air, he's ready to start eating again. I start kneading the fluffy yellow doughball on instinct and am rewarded with a long string of URP AHURP OHRP BHURP. Once the belches start it takes a good few minutes for them to stop, and smaller ones sometimes even get overridden by larger burps as more gas escapes his inflated guts.
Once his stomach is settled, the rotund rodent starts to drink directly from the shake machines hose, letting cool thick dairy get pumped into his swelling gut. My paws push into his plush underbelly and move air bubbles around inside, waiting for him to pause his chugging before I press in just the right spot to squeeze a gassy BHUUURP out of his maw. He swallows almost as much air as he does milkshake, and I have to work hard to keep his gassy guts content.
I do my best to keep kneading the swollen yellow orb of bombchu gut, but the thick shake is much harder to push around than the air his belly was full of a few moments ago. It moves sluggishly under my paws, and pressing outward against them as every gulp packs in more of the dense creamy liquid. His body bulges around what few clothes remain on his massive frame, and the creaking noises coming from them leave no doubt that the overstressed textiles are at their limit.
The bonded leather belt keeping his pants on looks like it can take no more. It was already on its last hole when the gluttony spree began, and no doubt fatigued from plenty of previous feasts. The glutton stops his chugging to reach under his shake filled stomach with both hands and grunts as he hefts it up before letting it all drop at once. It lands with a meaty slap and a deafening BRUUUHLP The belt bursts off and his gut surges forward, popping off the button on the front of his pants and destroying the zipper. Belly oozes outward to fill the newly opened space, pulling the fly of his pants even further apart. Even if he was not too fat to fit them, those pants will never close again. The denim looks like it could tear apart at any minute, creases have formed where the tension from being filled with hundreds of pounds of fat threatens to rip apart the seams.
It is a testament to his discipline that he goes right back to chugging from the shake machine. Even behind his mask, I can see the bombchu's expression grow more strained with each gulp, and his burps grow smaller and more strained. Between my massaging, and his sheer will to keep eating, we manage to pump the last few ounces of shake into his belly, and the machine clicks off, finally emptied of its contents, leaving the glutton to clutch his belly in pain, having conquered the buffet in its entirety.
The final accessory to meet the fate of its peers is the watch wrapped around the bombchus meaty wrist. It snaps off with a metallic ping, leaving a red mark around where it had compressed a limb as big around as my thigh down to half its size. For his part, it's all he can manage just to groan in pained overfullness and let out one last quiet burp. Finally, the bombchu can take no more, and just in time, my phone buzzes to let me know his 4 hours are up. All at once the toll of waiting on this obscene act of gluttony hits me, and I collapse against a wall in exhaustion. Both of us will need some time to recover from this experience, but I'm confident he will be a loyal customer for many years to come.

As someone who spent over a decade catering luxury events, let me add some back of house info:
These events are almost always open bar. They're not trying to make their money back on alcohol. They want you to drink and eat and donate generously.
If there are cocktails, there will be at most two on offer, pre-made in large tubs. You cannot order a different version, it is what it is.
There are two types of events: cocktail style or seated. The first includes roaming hors d'oeuvres or a fancy buffet with tiny plates called a grazing station. For a long night, the roaming food will get a little bigger throughout the evening and have a 'main' at some point based around a protein.
A seated event will usually be more structured and may include multiple courses. Silver service is not in vogue anymore. You are likely to get either alternating meals brought to you like at a wedding, or served banquet style. A good caterer can get a plate to everyone in a 300 person event in about three minutes.
Drunk people are the same no matter how expensive their suits. They still laugh too loud, spill their drinks and slip on the dance floor. They are usually less embarrassed about doing coke in the bathrooms.
A full scale event that starts at 6pm will have staff arriving at noon to begin setup. Earlier if there's a light show or pyrotechnics. Typically venues don't just have 30 tables and three hundred chairs lying around, let alone table cloths, chair covers, etc. It's all rented and brought in on the day. Bands and DJs will be running audio tests in the background throughout.
Most heritage buildings that host these things, like museums and manor houses, aren't really designed for them. They might put down mats so you're not walking in stilettos over two hundred year old wooden floors, the kitchens are weirdly far away, and there are not enough taps. There is never anywhere for staff to sit, so if you open the wrong door you might find half a dozen waiters sitting on upturned milk crates in a room full of million dollar paintings, eating the left over bread.
Really old buildings don't have enough bathrooms, which means the staff will be sharing with the guests.
Clean up starts the second the event ends, if not sooner. Unattended glasses will start to disappear first, then table decorations. When the timer ticks over, the lights come back on and exhausted staff strip the tables, pack up dirty glasses and unopened wine bottles and have to Tetris it all into the back of a van. The venue is booked for that day only, so everything has to be gone before anyone can go home. A large event that finishes at midnight might take until 3am to be cleared away.
These are very long and physically demanding nights for anyone working them. The staff all get to know each other, and will absolutely notice someone trying to sneak in wearing a borrowed uniform. They are not being paid enough to care.
Tips for writing those gala scenes, from someone who goes to them occasionally:
Generally you unbutton and re-button a suit coat when you sit down and stand up.
You’re supposed to hold wine or champagne glasses by the stem to avoid warming up the liquid inside. A character out of their depth might hold the glass around the sides instead.
When rich/important people forget your name and they’re drunk, they usually just tell you that they don’t remember or completely skip over any opportunity to use your name so they don’t look silly.
A good way to indicate you don’t want to shake someone’s hand at an event is to hold a drink in your right hand (and if you’re a woman, a purse in the other so you definitely can’t shift the glass to another hand and then shake)
Americans who still kiss cheeks as a welcome generally don’t press lips to cheeks, it’s more of a touch of cheek to cheek or even a hover (these days, mostly to avoid smudging a woman’s makeup)
The distinctions between dress codes (black tie, cocktail, etc) are very intricate but obvious to those who know how to look. If you wear a short skirt to a black tie event for example, people would clock that instantly even if the dress itself was very formal. Same thing goes for certain articles of men’s clothing.
Open bars / cash bars at events usually carry limited options. They’re meant to serve lots of people very quickly, so nobody is getting a cosmo or a Manhattan etc.
Members of the press generally aren’t allowed to freely circulate at nicer galas/events without a very good reason. When they do, they need to identify themselves before talking with someone.

The Advantages of Choosing Full Day Conference Packages
In the world of corporate events and business planning, full day conference packages have emerged as a dependable and comprehensive solution for hosting successful events. These packages provide a variety of amenities and services to meet the diverse needs of both attendees and organisers. Whether you are planning a corporate seminar, a team-building retreat, or a training workshop, full day conference packages include everything you need for a smooth and productive event.
Why Opt for Full Day Conference Packages?
Full day conference packages are designed to meet the needs of longer events, providing an all-in-one solution that eliminates the hassle of combining numerous services. These packages typically include access to a well-equipped conference facility, innovative audiovisual equipment, comfortable seating arrangements, and high-speed internet access. Such provisions ensure that all technological and logistical aspects are managed, allowing organisers to focus on the event's content.
Full day conference packages also include catering services. Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy refreshments such as morning tea or coffee, a lunch buffet, and afternoon snacks. This keeps participants engaged and focused, resulting in a more productive event. Additionally, dietary preferences are frequently accommodated, ensuring inclusivity for all attendees.
Enhanced Productivity Through Structured Planning
Full day conference packages are structured, which encourages organisers to plan a well-balanced schedule. With a full day at their disposal, organisers can plan sessions on a variety of topics without feeling rushed. This is especially useful for events that involve in-depth discussions, workshops, or interactive activities.
Breaks built into the schedule also help to maintain productivity. These breaks help attendees maintain their energy levels and foster networking opportunities by giving them time to recharge. Such interactions can result in valuable collaborations and insights, contributing to the event's overall success.
Cost-Effectiveness & Convenience
The cost-effectiveness of full day conference packages is one of their primary advantages. By combining venue rental, catering, and equipment into a single package, these offerings are frequently less expensive than sourcing each element separately. Furthermore, working with a single provider simplifies the planning process, saving organisers time and effort.
Full day conference packages are especially advantageous for businesses looking to host larger events. They frequently include customisation options, allowing organisers to tailor the package to specific needs. These packages can be tailored to each event's specific requirements, whether they include branding opportunities, breakout rooms, or specialised menus.
Creating a Memorable Experience
Full day conference packages are designed to provide attendees with an enjoyable and memorable experience, in addition to functionality. Many of the venues that offer these packages are in scenic or inspiring settings, which provide a pleasant backdrop that adds to the event's atmosphere. Whether it is a city-centre conference room with breathtaking views or a peaceful retreat in the countryside, the environment has a significant impact on setting the tone for the day.
Ideal for a Range of Events
Full day conference packages are ideal for a wide range of events. Corporate training sessions, annual general meetings, industry conferences, and client presentations are just a few of the events that benefit from these comprehensive packages. Their versatility allows them to accommodate a wide range of group sizes, from small team meetings to large corporate gatherings.
Conclusion
Full day conference packages provide a practical, cost-effective, and all-inclusive solution for organising successful events. These packages alleviate the stress of planning and execution by including everything required for a full day of productivity and engagement. Full day conference packages are the best option for businesses looking to deliver memorable and impactful conferences.

Tips for Coordinating with a Party Catering Service in Melbourne for a Large Event
Tumblr media
Organizing a large event in Melbourne and want to ensure your catering runs smoothly? Working with a professional catering service can make a huge difference, but effective communication and planning are key. Here are some essential tips to help you coordinate with your party catering service in Melbourne, ensuring everything goes off without a hitch.
1. Set Clear Objectives and Budget
The first step in coordinating with your catering service is understanding your goals and budget. Before reaching out to any catering service in Melbourne, determine how many guests you’re expecting, the type of cuisine you want, and the overall style of service—whether it’s a buffet, sit-down dinner, or cocktail-style event. Setting a clear budget will also help the caterers customize their offerings to suit your needs, making sure everything fits within financial constraints.
2. Choose the Right Catering Service
Researching and selecting the right catering service in Melbourne is crucial. Look for companies that have experience in handling large-scale events and positive reviews. It’s also helpful to check their portfolio of past events to get an idea of the quality of food and service they provide. A trusted and reputable catering company will be flexible, adaptable, and able to cater to your specific event requirements.
3. Share Detailed Information About Your Event
When communicating with your catering service, provide them with as much detail about your event as possible. This includes the date, time, venue, the type of event (wedding, corporate function, birthday party), the number of guests, and any dietary restrictions or preferences. The more information you give, the better they can plan the menu, allocate staff, and prepare accordingly.
4. Taste Testing
Most catering services offer a tasting session before the big day. Take advantage of this opportunity to try a variety of dishes and flavors. This allows you to sample their food, ensure the quality meets your expectations, and make any necessary adjustments before the event. It’s also a great chance to discuss customization options and get a feel for their approach to service.
5. Select a Menu That Fits the Occasion
Your catering service should work with you to create a menu that complements the occasion. Whether it’s a formal sit-down meal, buffet-style, or a casual grazing table, the menu should reflect your theme, preferences, and guests’ tastes. Be open to suggestions but ensure you’re getting dishes that match the mood and vibe you want to create at your event.
6. Discuss Dietary Restrictions and Allergies
In a diverse city like Melbourne, catering to guests with dietary restrictions and allergies is crucial. Whether your guests need gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, halal, or other specialty diets, your catering service should be well-equipped to accommodate these needs. Be sure to communicate these details clearly in advance to avoid any last-minute surprises on the day of the event.
7. Plan for Beverage Options
Besides food, consider beverage options that will complement your catering. Will it be a full bar, a wine and beer selection, or perhaps a signature cocktail? Be specific about the types of beverages you’d like, and work with your caterer to set up drink stations, bars, and beverage packages that match the style and tone of your event.
8. Confirm the Logistics
Logistics play a major role in the success of your event. Confirm details such as setup times, service times, the location of the event, equipment needs (tables, chairs, linens), and cleanup responsibilities. Ensure clear communication with the catering team regarding what they will be responsible for on the day of the event.
9. Coordinate with Other Vendors
Often, large events require the collaboration of multiple vendors—florists, photographers, decorators, entertainment, etc. Keep your catering service in the loop regarding these other vendors to ensure smooth coordination. Sharing timelines and logistical details will help prevent overlaps and allow the catering team to work efficiently alongside other providers.
10. Review and Confirm All Details
As your event date approaches, it’s essential to go over all the arrangements again. Confirm the number of guests, final menu choices, timelines, and any other key aspects with your catering service. Clear communication will prevent misunderstandings and ensure everything is aligned before the big day.
11. Stay Connected During the Event
On the day of your event, stay in touch with your catering service to address any immediate concerns or last-minute adjustments. A good catering service will be proactive in ensuring everything runs smoothly, but it’s helpful to have open lines of communication for any unexpected changes.
Contacting Your Private Chef in Melbourne:
For personalized service tailored to your specific event needs, consider reaching out to a private chef in Melbourne. They can offer a unique and customized approach to catering, focusing on bespoke menus, personalized service, and attention to detail. A private chef ensures a more intimate and flexible dining experience, making your large event feel truly special. Contact your private chef in Melbourne today to discuss your vision and start planning a memorable event!

Organizing a birthday party is never easy. From fixing the menu, considering special requirements that attend different diets, through making sure everything has been served at the right time to meet the thirsty and hungry audience, it can become almost impossible to take the time to remember why one gave the party. That is when catering becomes a real boon.
This can save you lots of work, add a bit more flair to your occasion by letting someone else take care of the small details, and still provide great quality food; gone are the days where immediate grocery shopping or constant bustle to keep that punch bowl full is required. It thus puts the mind of an individual at ease. Custom Menu Planning for Every Occasion
One of the benefits of hiring professional catering is their expertise in menu planning. Forget trying to please everyone with your limited kitchen skills; let the caterers do their magic. Professional caterers can create a menu that reflects your tastes, matches your party theme, and caters to any dietary needs. Whether it's a lavish sit-down dinner, a casual BBQ, or a fun finger food spread, they'll ensure every dish is a hit.
And let's not forget presentation—half the excitement of a super meal is often how it all looks. With a well-presented dish guaranteed to be photographable by your guest, it presents an added flair to the event as well.
Stress-Free Service
Picture this: instead of running around making sure the appetizers are refilled and the plates are cleared, you’re enjoying your party. Professional caterers bring trained staff who take care of everything from serving food to cleaning up afterward. That would be a seamless service, which means you do not have to think of anything else other than mingling with guests, taking photos, and maybe busting a move on the dance floor.
Tailored Experiences for Memorable Celebrations
No two birthday parties are the same, and professional catering services know this. They can make every detail according to your preferences to make your event one-of-a-kind.
Tumblr media
Want an international cuisine buffet? Easy. Desserts abound not just on tables, but on a cupcake stand, an assemblage of macarons, or a chocolate fountain. Done. From small gatherings to big bashes, caterers adjust according to requirements and make sure no guest leaves unhappy and craving for a second helping.
The Value of Quality and Freshness
When you hire professional birthday party caterers, you are assured to be given fresh and quality food. Skilled chefs use the best ingredients to prepare dishes that will not only taste great but also consistent.
This is particularly important when serving a large crowd. Unlike home-cooked meals, which can be hit-or-miss, professionally catered food maintains the same standard throughout, ensuring every guest enjoys a perfect bite.
Venue and Logistics Made Simple
If you’re hosting your birthday party at a specific venue, professional caterers can simplify the logistics. Many caterers are familiar with popular event spaces in Sydney and can seamlessly coordinate with the venue to ensure everything runs smoothly.
They will be able to arrange for the serving stations and set up tables. This would come in handy, should your choice of venue require peculiar arrangements or restrictions.

What You Need to Know About Food Catering for Funerals
Funeral gatherings are a time to honor a loved one’s life and provide comfort to grieving friends and family.
Food catering for funerals plays an integral role in these gatherings, offering both nourishment and a sense of togetherness. Thoughtful planning can ensure that the catering complements the occasion, respects traditions, and accommodates all attendees. This blog post will cover what you need to know about funeral catering.
Understanding the Purpose of Funeral Catering
Food has long been a universal symbol of comfort and community. During funerals, shared meals bring people together, offering solace in a time of loss. The act of eating alongside others fosters a sense of support and connection that words alone may struggle to convey.
Catering, in particular, eases the burden on families who may not have the time or energy to prepare food themselves. Professional services ensure that the logistics of feeding guests—often a large number—are handled seamlessly, allowing the bereaved to focus on remembering their loved ones and supporting one another.
Key Considerations for Funeral Catering
Planning a funeral reception? Here are the key considerations to ensure a thoughtful and seamless catering experience.
1. Guest List Size and Preferences
The first step in planning food catering for funerals is estimating the number of attendees. This can be challenging, as attendance may vary depending on the time of day, location, and how widely the service was announced. To avoid under or over-preparing, it’s wise to communicate with family members and close friends about expected numbers.
Dietary restrictions and cultural preferences are also essential factors. Funeral gatherings often include diverse groups, and accommodating vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or culturally specific diets ensures everyone feels included and respected.
2. Venue and Logistics
The venue’s capabilities should also shape your catering plan. If the service is held at a funeral home, church, or community hall, confirm whether the location has facilities for warming or serving food. Outdoor venues may require additional planning for weather contingencies and equipment like portable heaters or coolers.
Setup and serving arrangements should be simple and unobtrusive. Buffet-style layouts often work well, allowing guests to serve themselves conveniently.
3. Timing of the Event
The time of day can influence the type of food served. Morning services may call for lighter fare, such as pastries, fruit, and coffee, while afternoon or evening gatherings could feature heartier options like casseroles or pasta. Finger foods can work well for mid-day services, where guests may not expect a full meal but still appreciate a variety of choices.
4. Budget Planning
Food catering for funerals does not have to be extravagant to be meaningful. Work within a budget to provide options that meet guests’ needs while being cost-effective. Caterers often offer tiered packages, allowing families to choose between basic and premium services.
