A 60 second long exposure off the FujiFilm X-S10.

An element of image composition is a focus on contrasts. It can be contrasting tones, complimentary colors, lights and darks, textures, etc. In this image I was looking to try and balance the contrast in warm and cool tones of the coastline and sea, but also their respective textures.

Now the sea, depending on how choppy it is, has a texture all its own that can occasionally compliment, and occasionally clash with the surrounding textures. The long exposure time of 60 seconds here using a 10 stop neutral density filter allowed me to smooth out its surface into an essentially texture free space, allowing it to make the scene cleaner and a little less busy.

Mix that with a gorgeous sunset, and you may just have a winner of your hands.
