Reclaimed negative scan

My first @12monthsonfilm post. This was an experiment. The film was in the holder for a while and I'd forgotten which film it was, but I had a faint recollection that it was Fuji FP100C.

So I shot this one picture in the music room. I didn't write down the settings because I just wanted to confirm what film it was, but my suspicions were confirmed.

The pulled print was way underexposed, but I always hold onto the "throw away part" because I get a kick out reclaiming negatives.

Reclaimed negatives… you know, securely taping the emulsion side face down to a piece of glass, fold up and place a paper towel over the black backing and soak it with bleach. Give it 10-15 minutes and then wipe away to see the remaining usable negative! Cool stuff.

I placed the dry negative on the scanner bed as if it were a print. The scan actually turned out! Pretty cool. Not the first time i've tried this trick.

I'm going to get out later in the week with the LF stuff and shoot Instax Wide Color using the LomoGraflok, the remaining FP100C, and if it's sunny Fomopan 100 Sheet, cloudy, Ilford FP5+ sheet film will get used.

Fujifilm has announced the release of two new products in the South African market: the Instax Pal camera and the Instax Mini Evo in Brown. These latest additions to Fujifilm’s lineup offer unique features and designs, catering to photography enthusiasts and casual users alike.

Instax Pal: a compact companion for instant photography

The Instax Pal, unveiled in September 2023, marks a departure from Fujifilm’s traditional instant camera offerings by focusing solely on photography. This lightweight, palm-sized camera, weighing just 41 grams, is designed for capturing spontaneous moments without the need to use a smartphone.

It connects via Bluetooth to the Instax Pal app, allowing users to transfer images with an Instax frame or print them directly on Instax printers, including the Instax Mini Link 2, Instax Square Link, and Instax Link Wide.

Equipped with a 4.9MP camera, the Instax Pal features internal storage for up to 50 photos and supports microSD cards for additional storage. The camera offers various shooting modes, including Standard, Remote, and Interval, the latter taking continuous shots at three-second intervals. The Instax Pal app also enables users to create animations, edit images, and share them on social media.

Available in five colours – Lavender Blue, Powder Pink, Milky White, Gem Black, and Pistachio Green – the Instax Pal is priced at R1,799 including VAT and is available at select retail stores and online.

Instax Mini Evo Brown: expanding the flagship range

The Instax Mini Evo, Fujifilm’s flagship hybrid instant camera, is now available in a new Brown colour. The Mini Evo has gained popularity for its ability to save and print photos, offering users ten lens effects and ten film effects, which can be combined to create 100 different shooting styles. The dedicated Evo app allows for direct printing from smartphones and saving photos with Instax frames for easy social media sharing.

The Brown Instax Mini Evo maintains the retro design of the original model, featuring a print lever, lens- and film-effect dials, and a new USB Type-C charging port. This limited-edition version is priced at around R2,900, including VAT, and comes with a matching case and a pack of Instax Mini film.

In addition to these releases, Fujifilm South Africa has also announced that the Instax Square SQ40 instant camera will be available in the country from January 2024. – GeekWire.co.za

{10/100 days of productivity}

11/9/17 Here are some polaroids I took on my holiday in Croatia! Just. Just wanted to share them with you. Today has been exhausting. 9 hours of school including one hour for lunch and other stuff. I used it all to study physics.

On the bright side, I played the guitar for almost two hours! Even though my fingers hurt like hell right now it did a pretty good job at calming me down!

Also, here are some polaroids I took on my holiday in Croatia! Just. Just wanted to share them with you.

but why?

are you bored of digital photography or are you here because we are related to somewhat in real life? if you are here for the first or second reason then Welcome! again...

So What is Digital_film.only?

it all started with my interest for film back in 2019 when I came across a youtuber named Willem Verbeeck. He is a photographer based in the US of A. Well, from then on I just fell in love with film because in today's fast moving world, we see over 100's of pictures every millisecond on Instagram, Facebook, snapchat etcetera etcetera but did we ever stop and appreciate one image other than a good looking feed on Instagram or a non "aesthetic" picture. Yeah I don't think so *insert sas face* My whole plan with this project is to take my time while clicking images of landscapes, people, and then trying to develop them or make physical copies of them but.... if you pay attention to detail, digital never really looked good while printed(or my camera just sucks lol) but film stayed for years and years and didn't degrade over time(well not that fast). recently I have purchased a Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 Polaroid camera which helps me achieve this way of photography. lately I take my time with clicking pictures and don't want to rush with the Polaroid because, (1) it is expensive(500rs for 10 shots of a Polaroid pack) and (2) they get imprinted directly so there's no room for errors but if you have this mindset then you don't tend to shoot much film which I'll talk about in another day so to wrap things up, thank you for checking out my blog and hope you stay for the journey cause it's gonna fuN!! 今年は久々に剣山（徳島県）へ行きたかったんだけれども、、

県境またぐのはちょっと憚られる気もして…悩む。

Oh yes, it’s #NationalCameraDay... so here’s my cameras! 📷

Here we have the Argus 75, Kodak Instamatic 100, a mysterious unnamed 50 mm from the Film Photography Project, a Minolta Freedom 100, a Fujifilm Instax Mini 9, and my absolute beast of a camera, the Nikon Coolpix P900. What’s missing from this lineup is my iPhone 7 (used to take the photo), Olympus Stylus 710, and Olympus FE5000. 📷

Soooo how many of these do I actively use? Good question! 🎞 The film for the Argus is pricey, so I use it sparingly. The film for the Kodak is nigh-impossible to find, so I’ve never used it (😭). The Minolta eats film (I believe it’s an issue with the auto-winder). The 50mm accidentally either shoots or the film compartment opens so the last two rolls I’ve put in have had to be binned. The two unpictured Olympus cameras are broken. 💸💸💸

So I guess I generally use the Nikon and the iPhone. I occasionally use the 50mm and rarely the Argus. I just got the Instax, but because the film is also pricey, I’ll probably only use it for special occasions. 🤡

And of course, this is just my pile of cameras. My mom has 4 (3 film, 1 digital), and there are probably a few more film cameras of mine floating around the house that haven’t seen the light of day since 2002 🤭
