i always forget theres real good southern cooking i feel like when i think of southern cooking as someone whose never been there i think of like. heavily processed stuff and wartime casseroles and full pounds of butter in everything.
It's hard to get into this as a stereotype because it's like. Not entirely untrue, but it's mainly true of specifically poor white families, it's just that people tend to think that that demographic is the majority of people in the south or at least that they're the most representative of the region. The american southeast's cuisine history is very, very, very tied to colonization and slavery. Most of our cultural foods are at minimum heavily influenced by indigenous and black cuisines, and I think it is not a coincidence that people don't consider the things that came from that cultural interplay the forefront of southern culture and default to what (they think) the white poor people are doing instead.

This post is a compilation of advice, tips and strategies that I have learned and tried out successfully. Some of this will be a repetition of advice found in other places, some will be original. Hopefully all of it will be helpful and somewhat entertaining.......So, there are a lot of guys with YouTube channels and videos and blogs offering dating advice and tips to help you up your game and get more matches, dates and pussy. Mainly they want you to subscribe to help with that ad revenue, pay for a course, a book or a seminar. So their aim is far from altruistic. Some of these guys do get lots of matches, dates and pussy. Most don't. Some of their advice is solid, other bits are just laughable.Who am I? I am a British guy, probably a 7/10 looks wise, I'm 5'8" tall, I have a car, a phone and a job but I'm not rich. So I am probably like most of you guys reading this trying to meet girls online. I have been on POF, Tinder and host of other sites and I have tried out a bunch of tips and come up with some of my own. I have been on dates..... some succeeded, some failed, some I nailed and some I bailed. I have had both passionate one off encounters and relationships that lasted several months and in one case years as a result of online dating. Do I know everything? Nope! But....... Here is my take on successful online dating........ Don't click subscribe (this isn't YouTube), don't buy my book (it doesn't exist), don't come to the seminar (there isn't one)!I will refer to POF as an example but most of what I am about to write applies to any dating site. POF is the biggest site, it's free to use for the most part, and whatever you think of it, you can get laid and meet girls off of there......PHOTOS Sadly, the most important thing about online dating is that your pics are what matters most. Although in "real life" dating your initial appearance is also super important too, so it's not that different really. In general, guys are terrible at having their picture taken, myself included. But following some basic and easy to do steps will help you get more matches......Firstly, get a haircut! Go to a barber, spend £20 and get your hair sorted and your beard trimmed if you have one. This will help no end.Secondly, get a mate who has a camera to help you. Shitty camera phone selfies are not the way to maximise this aspect of creating a successful dating profile. If you don't have a buddy willing to help then make do with what you have and can do.Thirdly, the type of pics are important. Contrary to popular assumption, a clear headshot of you smiling at the camera is not the way to go. A big fear for women in online dating is that the guy she is talking to is a loner/weirdo on his mum's laptop, so your pics shouldn't all be of you alone. If you're in a bar or a club a lady can see you out with your mates, dressed nicely and interacting with others. Online she can't see this aspect of you. If you can take, or already have, a nice picture of yourself in a social setting with others i.e having a drink in a nice bar laughing and joking (this can be staged easily) then use this on your profile. Another tip is that women like the focus and intensity of men. What makes man a good hunter and therefore a good provider is that we can focus intensely on one task. So a pic of you focused on doing something i.e playing guitar, fixing your car/motorbike taking a shot at the snooker table etc taken from the side, candidly (also easily staged) works well. This should be your main profile pic! Women want to be the centre of your focus and attention, show them this. Pictures of you in interesting and exotic locations go down well. If you have a RECENT photo of you on a beach with palm trees or in front of a big city skyline these will do the trick. Every lady wants a man to take her to beautiful and interesting places. You can be alone in this pic as it's the setting that counts more than the picture of you. Some definite don'ts for pics...... Don't try to be too funny or wacky in your pics, you'll appear crazy. Don't have an alcoholic drink in your hand in every photo, a glass of something in one or two is fine. But a can of Special Brew in each pic sends a strong message. Don't use old pics, she will be pissed off when you meet. Don't use selfies, if you have to use them then make sure they are taken with the camera above you and looking down, not from under your face looking up your nostrils!Fourthly, clothing...... Pics of you in tshirts is fine, but try to have at least one of you in a nice shirt with buttons on. I don't necessarily mean in a suit, but just something slightly more formal. Women, when looking for a date/boyfriend, are often thinking "I need a date/boyfriend to take to my cousin's wedding", show them that you scrub up well.PROFILE DETAILS You will have to fill in some details about yourself on most dating sites...... POF asks you your intent i.e Nothing Serious, Wants A Relationship, Friends etc..... I recommend you put "Wants A Relationship". "Nothing Serious" might be honest but most girls are put off by this. Be honest about your job and income (if you have one). Most women will be pleased that you have a job at all. It makes no sense to say you are a millionaire businessman when actually you work in a garage, unless she is an idiot she won't believe it and if you end up seeing the girl then you look like a complete prick when she works out what you really do for a living! If you are a McDonald's server just put catering. If you are a binman/trash collector just put that you work for the council/city. If you are actually unemployed just lie. No girl wants to date a bum! Say you have a realistic job, maybe one you are about to apply for, and only meet girls for dates in the evenings and on weekends. Income, no need to lie! Most women will be happy that you have an income, so don't put that you are earning £100,000 a year when you earn £18,000 a year. She'll work it out when you turn up to the date in a Ford Focus and not a fancy German sports car!Religion, up to you here...... I usually put agnostic/atheist. Religion isn't really cool. I do have spiritual beliefs, but I am not a member of any religious groups. So I just keep this out of it.Height...... LIE. Unless you are over 5'10" I recommend lying about your height. Not by loads, if you are 5'8" tall, then say 5'9". Obviously if you are 5'6" you can't say you are 6'3", you will need to be wearing stilts on the date! But the closer you can get to 6' the better. So always add an inch. It will be unlikely that she brings a measuring tape on the date so it won't come up. But taller is better as a general rule. But isn't lying bad? Yes, it is. But she isn't going to turn up with perfect skin, bunny ears and a rabbit nose as she has in her profile pics. Girls use filters to deceive you, so it all evens out.The rest of your profile details are really unimportant, shit like star-sign, personality type etc don't really make a lot of difference unless you put something crazy like serial killer. Don't do that.PROFILE BIO This is important on POF, less important on Tinder. But be honest! You are who you are, be proud of that! Don't say shit that is going to land you in trouble when she works out that it was all just bullshit. I generally start off with my likes. I don't mean what I like in a woman. I mean stuff like Mediterranean cuisine, rugby, chess, live comedy etc. DO NOT put a dislikes list. You are only going to look like an arsehole and rule out potential dates. I then go on to write a little biographical paragraph...... Avoid binding terms like "I want a girl who is fun and pretty", lots of women have low self esteem, even if they are fun and pretty they may not see themselves in this way and will rule themselves out of contention from reading your profile. When writing a biographical paragraph try to pad it out, anyone can say "I like going to the beach", add some filler- "I like going to the beach, no better way to relax than having the sun on your face and feeling the sand between your toes!" it makes you seem real and less robotic. Be funny if you can, self deprecating is best. If you aren't a funny guy that's cool, just don't try to be- you'll only seem weird and awkward! Don't write too much, but definitely don't write too little! If you have nothing to say about yourself then why should a girl be interested in going on a date with you? Between 10 and 30 sentences will be great. Try to spell correctly. There may be additional sections to fill in, perhaps a question or two, use common sense and the same guidelines as for the bio. Don't rule dates out or put off potential dates. POF asks you "conversation starter/what would you do on a first date?".... Say something generic and non binding. Or leave it blank, these type of sections are not compulsory on most sites and if you have written a decent bio then these bits won't matter.MESSAGING So you've got some decent pics, you've written a decent bio...... Girls rarely message guys, so the next bit is on you! Firstly, choose your target..... To do this you have to know what you want. Do you want to find a girlfriend? Do you want to get laid? Both? It's probably both. Be realistic, take a good long hard look at yourself in the mirror....... Are you a 10/10? An 8/10? A 6/10? If you are a solid 6/10 then you are wasting your time focusing your energy on crafting messages to 10/10 girls. No matter how badly you might want to fuck/date/marry one it's just not realistic. So when doing a search for girls in your area, unless you are 8.5/10 or above put the 10/10 girls to the back of the queue. You can message them later, but they shouldn't be the focus of your efforts, you will only get disappointed and bored of failure. If you're a 6/10 guy focus on the 5/10 to 8/10 range of girls. If you need to know your rating, ask a few female friends to be brutally honest and rate you. Knowing your level is going save you energy, save you from needless rejections and save time. Girls get fucking hundreds of messages. This is true. But most are from dumb guys who don't know what to say! Most guys write "Heya baby" "Hey there" or even worse "Wuu2 bbe?" or "U R hot!". Your competition isn't that fierce. But you still have to write a nice message. READ THEIR PROFILE! Girls expect that a lot of weird, lonely men are going to look at their pics on POF. Show them that you have done more than this and have taken the time to read their profile. When you message them, mention something from their profile early on in your message to show that you have paid attention to what they have to say. For example "Hi CoolChick1988 (use her real name if it's on her profile)! I am ChosenMyUsername (use your real name). I was reading your profile and I noticed that you like Disney movies. I love Disney movies! I must have seen The Lion King a million times! What's your favourite Disney movie?...." Establish a shared common interest early doors. And ask a question about it so that you elicit a reply from her. Fake it, lie, whatever. I don't really like Disney movies, but if that's the only interest she has listed- I'm mentioning it! Show that you are interested in her and her likes/hobbies/work/etc. After you have done this, go on to say a bit about yourself. Keep consistent with your profile bio. If you can be funny be funny, some light teasing is fine, but know where you are at with trying to be funny, try and fail and you look like a dick! End your message with a nice sign off "....I hope I hear back from you! :) ChosenMyUsername X" Girls like smileys, don't be afraid to use one or two! Now wait for her reply. Don't message her again. Just wait. She may or may not write back, but by messaging again "Hey did you get my message?" you look desperate and pushy so she definitely won't reply to you then! Wait for her reply and in the meantime move on to the next girl you want to fuck/date/marry and repeat the process. To some extent you can copy and paste these messages taking care to edit the details specific to each girl.If she messages you back, she has probably looked at your profile, decided you look cute enough to fuck and has read your bio and thinks you sound OK to chat to. Now you have to seal the deal. In the coming exchange of messages keep going with the same polite and genuinely interested tone you had in the first message. Ask her questions about more of her listed hobbies and interests. Ask about her family, girls love to talk about their family (unless they all died in a car crash or something. In which case say "Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear that" and move the fuck away from the topic). After say 5-10 messages (use your judgment) ask to meet up! Say something like "We seem to be chatting really well together, you seem great! Would you like to meet up for a drink with me?". Ask to meet up earlier rather than later in the chat. Wait too long and some other handsome young chap will have messaged her and she will be interested in meeting him. Don't ask for her phone number so you can WhatsApp her...... Again, women fear they are talking to a weirdo, giving her number to you means that she could be exposing herself to the deadliest weapon in the weirdo's arsenal....... The WhatsApp cock pic!!! You are already chatting to the girl, you can make plans to meet up just fine via POF or Tinder messenger, you don't need to move it to another platform to arrange the meet. Girls learn very quickly in the online dating scene that giving their WhatsApp number out gets them a picture of a man's cock. Ask the girl for her number at the end of the actual date! Some messaging don'ts are- Don't mention her looks. I know you think you are complimenting her but when you say "You are really pretty", "I love your eyes" etc. you sound creepy and she begins to imagine a weirdo at his mum and dad's house wanking over her pics. Save compliments about her looks for when you meet in person so she can tell your sincerity from intonation and facial expressions. Don't write too much, don't write too little. Between 5 and 15 sentences is fine. Don't swear. Don't ask for her number. DEFINITELY DON'T SEND HER A COCK PIC.TIPS FOR FIRST DATES Meet somewhere public for a drink where you can chat, the idea is to get to know one another- a coffeeshop, a pub or a bar etc. The cinema is a bad first date as you can't talk and it requires a large cash spend and takes up to 3 hours. Noisy clubs are a bad first date, you can't talk. Romantic restaurant candlelight dinner dates are expensive and a pressure situation. Save those for the wedding anniversaries. Ideally you want a date that, if it is completely rubbish, hasn't cost you more than £20.Be aware of your body language. Try not to fold your arms, bite your nails etc. Try to be relaxed and open.In your nervousness try not to say mad stuff. Best not to tell that crazy story about when you and your mates were in Amsterdam walking through the red light district.Be chivalrous, but not too chivalrous. If you are meeting for coffee or a drink, get the drinks. Don't be tight. But equally, don't be sniveling and pathetic.Try to seal the deal. If she's there on a date with you she probably thought you were cute enough to potentially fuck from your profile. If she is sitting in the bar with you chatting away comfortably don't be afraid to move in for the kiss. You can even outright ask "We seem to be getting on really well! I think you are lovely. Can I get a kiss?". Don't wait until the end of the date to make the move for the kiss as it becomes the goodbye kiss. Do it at the 3/4 mark and then when at the end of the date you can ask if she wants to come back to yours or move on to a second location for some more drinks. But use your judgment. I repeat, USE YOUR JUDGMENT.Look out for signs she is a crazy. Does she talk a lot about fucked up stuff that happened to her? Does she mention her ex a lot? Does she have issues with her parents that she keeps ranting about? Watch out for crazies. There are as many crazy unstable women online as there are men sending cock pics.If she suggests coming to her place for the first date just agree and go! Congratulations! You're getting laid!GENERAL ONLINE DATING COMMENTS The online dating scene is hugely skewed in favour of the women. Guys employ an "It's a numbers game" strategy and message every single woman they think they could get it up for. This means women get hundreds of messages. So women who are 5/10 on the looks scale can actually end up going on a date and being fucked by a 10/10 guy who has lowered his standards to get more matches/replies. Unfortunately the same is not true for men. Women get to date up the looks scale while men generally have to date down the looks scale in the online dating scene. This is a generalisation but one that holds true for the most part.Women are bombarded with likes/messages. It doesn't take them long on Tinder to realise that every guy they swipe right on is a match! Women come to enjoy this ego boost and the rush of dopamine that comes from logging into POF or opening Tinder and getting compliments and matches. It means that many women in the online dating scene are shallow and despite their stated intent of looking for a boyfriend they are actually looking for ego boosts and attention from men. By no means is this all women, but lots are this way. This is why it's important to be realistic in which girls you focus your efforts on. Read their profiles. If they say something like "I like going out for drinks and going to the gym. Anything else you want to know just message me" then you can bet that she is a shallow person only online for attention and compliments not genuinely looking for a boyfriend. This doesn't mean she can't be chatted to and possibly dated and fucked, but just be aware and realistic. Focus your efforts on girls in your range (two points above and two points below on the looks /10 scale). Once you have messaged all the realistic targets then move on to the 10/10 girls. Rejection and being ignored are part of the game in online dating. A lot of Dating Advice For Men gurus will claim or insinuate that they get a shit ton of pussy, every women messages them back and every date ends in sex. They are bullshitting. A lot of these dating gurus live in big cities like London, New York or L.A where there are loads of women and the odds of scoring dates/sex is much higher. If they moved to Mid Wales or to rural Ohio then they would get fuck all pussy. Even 10/10 dudes with good jobs and A game chat up talk on POF don't get a high reply rate. Anyone claiming they do is lying. The field is tilted in the ladies favour! But this isn't necessarily a bad thing! The reason it is like this is because most other guys (your competition) are complete fucking morons who like every female profile they see, send them gushing complimentary messages and then end it with a WhatsApp dick pic once they get a girl's number. So your competition is "Mr I'll Fuck Anything With A Pulse, Check Out My Cock". He isn't hard to beat. So if you have some good pics, a good bio and a nice messaging game then there's no reason why you can't meet up with girls every weekend for dates. A lot depends on where you live and the number of users in your area. In London there are more women on POF than in rural Devon. It's simply down to population density. It also means that, if you are in a rural area, you have to bring your A game from the start. If you message all the girls in your area some dumb shit and they don't reply, well, you've fucked it up! via /r/dating_advice
