One little question for you, hope it's not a bother--

Do Disconauts and Psychonauts take place in the same general universe? Like, do the Psychonauts exist there? Do the RCM ever call up the Psychonauts for help or vice versa? I'd assume they don't acknowledge each other (both being in different parts of the world and such) but imagine Harry having to get at least a little training by actual experts.

I think Disconauts is in its own universe to keep the other aspects of the world the same (Revachol, the pale, etc) rather than trying to fit Psychoanuts to that or vice versa. So they would have their own experts but it'd be more underground.

However, the idea of some poor collection of agents trying to train Harry 'Fuckatoo' Du Bois is very funny. The fact that he can summon so many different archetypes all at once would be enough to get him in the history books.

so well i went into disco elysium rather blindly despite all the low-level exposure from tumblr - i knew you play as an alcoholic amnesiac cop who hears voices and investigates a hanging with the dude who loves cars. period.

i liked it more than i would've thought, which probably means less than the average tumblrina, but again. more than i expected. very text-heavy point & click is not my style, i don't like to read a lot in video games. but personal enjoyment aside, the game is very well made, mechanically, and it looks and sounds very good, i like the story and the way the threads come together except for what felt like an absolutely random ending.

and a tribute to my harry under the cut

my harry is a hustling communist and a only slightly ironic disco enthusiast. he stayed sober for the duration of the game, he didn't even touch cigarettes or the bug juice. he professed his enthusiasm for cryptids at every occasion. he cringefailed the karaoke and was an absolute miss with the ladies, he rightly identifies with the fuckatoo, he owns a set of cursed dice and a lot of FALN sportswear, he did his best even if he didn't always succeed. he got shot twice in the confrontation and a total of 6 people died during it but none other during the game (except for the hanged man and the drunk). i managed to replace early racist and nihilistic tendencies with, again, communism, a will to do better, and a surprising amount of empathy for the younger generation.

disco elysium has been established. the light might be dying but we can rage against it with hardcore aniodic jams, and that's a sweet-ass message for this game. honestly touching.

the ending with the sniper being a completely random dude who has barely left his island in 50 years drugged to the gills with bug juice? what?? what????

eta: i forgot that by common consensus, shaving was the greatest mistake i've made over the course of this game. The Expression also ended in the ffishing hut
