I've been thinking a lot about art and why it doesn't feel good anymore, and a lot of what I keep coming back to is a) simply not being happy with my style, but b) not feeling comfortable experimenting because I feel like I need things to be """post worthy""" 🙄 so like... it's kind of a vicious cycle lmao so I'm heeding the advice I used to give people trying to overcome perfectionism which was "don't worry about making things that are 'good enough' to post and just post everything."

So... some vague style experimenting 🤷‍♂️ and also a sketch of Ilya from forever ago that I really liked but kept thinking I would come back and do more with.

Pairing: Peter Parker x Superhero!Reader

Summary: “There’s this kid out there that can control the wind or something. I think she’s a great addition to the team. Let’s recruit her.”

Unlike the other steps, Peter hasn't done the fourth step immediately after he fulfilled the third. He had a lot of things going on and he didn't know where to begin. Naturally, he would ask Ned for help, but he didn't. He was going to ask Mr. Stark, but he was too shy and he didn't want Mr. Stark to think that he couldn't do the mission. He didn't want his suit to be taken away.

So, he asked someone who could relate to him on a certain level: Scott Lang. After school, he went straight to Scott Lang's house and rang the doorbell. The door opened to reveal a man Peter has never met before.

"You're not the pizza guy." The man said.

"And you're not Mr. Scott Lang." Peter retorted and adjusted the strap of his backpack. The man said, "I'm not him, but he lives here. Who are you?"

Peter opened his mouth to answer, but he got cut off my another man's voice. "Luis! Why are you taking so long with pizza- Peter?!" Scott said with a grin.

"Hello!" Peter smiled.

"Come in!" Scott said. Peter did what he was told and closed the door behind him. Luis went back to the living room and Scott hugged Peter, "What're you doing here?"

Peter awkwardly hugged back before pulling away. He smiled at Scott and said, "I need some help, y'know, for the recruitment."

"Oooh, the important stuff." Scott said. It was his day off but he figured he'd be useful if Peter Parker came all this way to ask for help. He shrugged, "Alright. What's up?"

They went to the dining area and they both sat down. Peter puts his bag on the floor before looking at Scott, "I, uh, I can't- I don't know how to do step four."

"What happens in step four?"

"I talk to her about superheroes." Peter said.

Scott stared at him for a long time, waiting for anything else Peter would like to say. When Peter didn't say anything else, he nodded and took a deep breath before he said, "Well, you're kind of fucked, dude. You need to elaborate on that."

"Well, you see, step four is connected to step five. If I'm successful in telling her stuff about superheroes, I can proceed in telling her that I'm Spider-Man." Peter said quietly.

Scott thought for a bit and said, "Okay, talk to her about superheroes AND see her as Spider-Man."

Peter grinned, "I never thought of that. Thank you!"

"No problem, Peter! Helping you, helps out the whole team. We really really want her on the team so bad." Scott gushed. Peter frowned a little but he quickly shook it off, so that Scott wouldn't notice and he didn't which relieved Peter.

It was late at night when Peter finished everything he had to do. Go to Scott Lang for help, go on patrol (which took longer than usual), help May with dinner, and do homework. He knew it was Friday, but he wanted to have a free weekend with nothing to think about aside from recruiting Y/N.

It's been nearly two months since Peter started recruiting Y/N and he still didn't know how to feel about her. It was complicated. He went from being mean to her to becoming frenemies to becoming friends. But deep down inside him, some things about Y/N ticks him off.

Like when she talked. She sounded too proper; like she was talking to the queen or something. He would get ticked off whenever she did good in class. Scratch that, he would get ticked off whenever she would do better than him in class. Don't get him wrong. He supported women when it came to flourishing and being really outspoken and being better than men. But he wasn't used to being... overthrown. He'd feel the same thing if Y/N were a fellow guy like him. He swore to himself that it wasn't a sexist thing. Peter felt like he was Bloody Mary and Y/N was Elizabeth I.

During the reign of Bloody Mary, everyone started to favor and support Elizabeth I as Mary's religious intolerance grew. Bloody Mary was still the reigning queen, yet the people preferred Elizabeth I who was on house arrest at Woodstock.

Peter felt bad for himself. He was, and still is, the smartest person in Midtown with Y/N coming in as second but his classmates and teachers preferred her over him. It stung. Now, not only do the students, teachers AND HIS FRIENDS preferred Y/N, but also the Avengers. The fact that it took a while for the rest of the team to warm up on him, but Y/N was gladly welcomed with no effort at all made Peter jealous. Y/N didn't even do anything to earn her spot; she just existed. He was green in envy and green didn't fit Spider-Man's colors at all. It was kind of ironic how both of them wore green at school and both of them looked great.

Sometimes Peter wondered what it would be like to have her on his side while fighting a villain. He often wondered that ever since they got paired up for history. He couldn't deny that they made a great team and he couldn't deny that they brought out the best of each other.

So with a heavy sigh, Peter begrudgingly laid down on his bed and grabbed his phone to text Y/N. "You'll be crazy if you always think about what it's like to fight with her. Just do what Mr. Stark told you, Peter." He said to himself. He quickly sent Y/N a text and not even a second later, she replied.

Peter lightly chuckled and shook his head. Y/N was really beginning to sound like MJ. Speaking of MJ, he could sense that MJ was overprotective of Y/N. Y/N's her best friend after all, and he totally understood that.

Going back to the topic, does Y/N picking up the way MJ spoke and acted bother him? Not at all. Just because he and MJ were exes, doesn't mean that it on bad terms. They remained friends and the break up was mutual.

He anxiously waited for Y/N to reply, but her quick replies came to a halt when her reply wasn't there. Peter didn't know if he sounded rude or if he offended her in some way, but he waited. He refused to sleep until he sees a reply from Y/N.

Peter blushed. The last girl who thought he was cute was MJ. But he quickly shook off the feeling. Y/N thought Spider-Man was cute, not Peter Parker. But he and Spider-Man were one person. "So technically, I'm cute too." Peter said to himself as he let out a yawn.

Peter's eyes widened. 'Y/N must really like Spider-Man.' He thought to himself. He groaned, "Aw, shit."

He might have to do step five quickly after this and he wasn't ready, but he had to do it whether he liked it or not. The sooner he could recruit Y/N, the sooner she'll be on the team.

He was definitely sure. Just this afternoon when he was patrolling, he saw the same group of kids he saw last week. He even saw the lady who gave him a churro... she gave him a churro again and who doesn't love free food?

Peter sleepily chuckled to himself at the Hamilton lyric he just sent. He didn't expect Y/N to respond at all, but the girl was full of surprises.

Peter was about to type when Y/N sent another message.

Peter charged his phone and went to bed after that. Before he drifted off to sleep, he thought about how he'd reveal himself as Spider-Man to Y/N and he already had something in mind.
