One day I'm going to write a masterwork of a meta post where I lay out how Papa Archeron was a POS with an emotionally incestuous dependency on Elain and therefore did not deserve even an ounce of mourning / redemption and being a "good father" to Vassa was more a slap in the face to his actual daughters than anything.
But we're trying to be positive so I'll just say this:
Ffffffuck him.

Her father had died for her, with love in his heart
lmao I don't think he did really. the king just grabbed him as a distraction/shield, it wasn't a noble sacrifice

honestly the newest chapter of tmttf almost made me cry. fuck papa archeron, all my homies hate papa archeron. put me in a room with a baseball bat and everyone who has ever wronged lucien and i'll ask for a new bat twenty minutes in because these skulls are hard asf and i won't be able to crack those piñatas with my bare hands.
also the elain and arina murder mission? wonderful. amazing. show-stopping (in beron's case also heart-stopping i guess). my best girls, they deserve the world and their inlaws to get their shit together.
and everyone except lucien kind of knowing, helion knowing but still being unable to do anything? heartbreaking. the depth you give your characters has actually literally kept me up at night. i would like to thank anyone who has ever encouraged you to write ever anything that ever inspired you, i will lay my heart at your feet and go to battle for you.
if you celebrated i hope you and the kids had a wonderful christmas, lots of love and optional kissws mwah mwah
STOP IT this was so nice that I've been hoarding it in my askbox to read it over and over. It has been a weird week, and your words mean so much to me.

Vassa knew papa archeron for 5 minutes that was not any sort of father daughter dynamic lmao, Vassa just laid it on thick because SJM was attempting to make him look decent. Tbh Vassa annoyed me when she was saying all of that. As if Feyre didn’t pick up his slack and get neglected for years and here she is praising him, Vassa please be quiet and read the room. Such a shitty retcon to make him appear good on the authors part. Does everyone get forgiven in this series for neglect? Appears so.
SJM is usually clumsy in selecting who she wants to redeem. For some reason, he got this massive, grand entrance on the ships.
Not everyone needs to be forgiven. I'm a huge fan of redemption arcs, but there's something really valuable to stories where there's no "grand" forgiveness scene. In real life, people just ... keep going. Some get better, some don't. Like, that's actual redemption. Apologies given, sometimes accepted. No one needs to die in order to be redeemed, they just need to try and fix what they broke.
Try. Try again. Do better, and know when you were wrong.

Adding to this because I'm still vibrating:
Within the storyline (the years we've been following Feyre through) he's the only one of very few who has had the opportunity to make himself better, apologize, or just straight up grow in his lifespan. He had years to try for his daughters. Notice I say try because even if he hadn't recovered, even if they had still been poor/hungry, him trying for the girls that depended on him would have been enough.
I'm a healing/redemption advocate, just not for this asshat.

It’s always been obvious to me that Elain was kinda of the emotional glue that held the family together and was the family peacemaker. I don’t think he should be forgiven but I’d love to see how Elain speaks about him and her family in the next book. She clearly had to be the perfect child/ mediator and I don’t think that it only started when shit hit the fan for the Acherons. These familial dynamics are very nuanced and complicated but I need the Acherons to actually talk it out or at least acknowledge their dynamics and how that could’ve affected each other. I do think Papa and Mama Acheron had different effects on all the sisters and it needs to be addressed.
