how are people still saying this stuff. liberals have been using this same rhetoric for 100+ years and yet still the only way things ever actually change for the better is when the people band together and force it through general strikes, mass protests, riots, etc. shit like this ^ is meant to prevent you from organizing with your peers and instead put your life in the hands of politicians who would sell your soul for a penny

Joe Biden despises the black activist community. What can we learn from that?
Tumblr media
Earlier today, audio was leaked in which Joe Biden interacts with a black activist. In response to the activist's very reasonable-sounding concern that his voting base might be disappointed with how his administration is shaping up, Biden becomes aggressive and angry. He sounds like a stepfather trying to establish unearned respect. His voice gets deep and loud. He dismisses out of hand any suggestion that anything he might be doing might upset people. How dare you--how fucking DARE YOU question me, you fucking worm?
This is who Joe Biden is. This is who he has always been. Even though he is suffering some age-related cognitive decline, this is a full and fair representation of how he has always treated anyone who he thinks has wronged him. This is upsetting many of his voters, however, because his voters were sold an image of Biden that was a complete fabrication of the DNC and their media apparatus.
Before mid-2015, no one regarded Biden as a kind and avuncular statesman. He has always been an easily agitated buffoon who was open about his desire to hurt people and contemptuous of all criticism.
There's decades of proof, but let's just focus on the last campaign. At least a half dozen times, Biden became aggressive and belligerent toward voters at his own rallies, sometimes even toward his own supporters. When an immigration activist questioned his involvement with the Obama-Trump family separation policy, he angrily dismissed the man and told him to vote for Trump. When faced with some mild criticism from a Warren supporter, he called the man fat and challenged him to a push up contest. When asked about his son's shady business dealings, he called the questioner a "damn liar" and challenged him to a fight.
It goes without saying that any one of these instances would have immediately sunk the campaign of anyone who, say, supported scaling down our military or made Goldman Sachs executives feel unsafe. But they gained very little traction, as the media was instead bringing on a body language expert to scientifically prove the Bernie Sanders is a lying Jew. Biden, meanwhile, is a kindly and respectable man whom everyone loves. Trust us, he is, and so there’s no reason to pay attention to anything he has ever done or said. Look at him eating ice cream! Isn’t that great, that he loves ice cream?
I've mentioned this before, but the biggest obstacle to any reform is the political media's refusal to enunciate any differences between Democratic candidates, aside from smearing leftists on baseless identity charges and dismissing the “pie in the sky” unreality of commonsense policies we could easily afford. But this leads to another point, one we can perhaps use a teachable moment...
There's no value in acquiescing to the demands of woke shitheads. At the end of the campaign, Bernie was still a sexist bro who "did a bad job of talking about race," while Biden was a champion for the black community--two designations completely unmoored from reality, existing only within the minds of media neurotics who are paid to lie about leftists. There’s nothing you can do to get them to stop lying. They are liars.
It's not just that policy history doesn't matter--we've known that for a while. The issues of comportment upon which wokeness is centered also doesn't matter. Complaints about tone and wordchoice and whether or not you repeated the correct slogan have nothing to do with whether or not a candidate will receive identity-based criticisms. These concerns are completely, undeniably arbitrary. Whether or not a candidate has actually harmed vulnerable people doesn’t factor into it--these accusations aren’t even effected by a candidate’s compliance with the mandates. You can do literally everything they tell you to and still get in trouble. You can ignore all their demands and still come out unscathed.
This is all a lie. It’s always been a lie. Stop giving credence to liars. Stop doing what these people tell you to do. If they’re going to hate you, they’re going to hate you. If you advocate for poor or working class people of any race, they are going to smear you. If you support austerity and militarism, they will give you a pass and maybe even adore you. Even if you’ve spent decades brutalizing minority communities, even if you get endorsed by the guy who poisoned Flint’s water, even if you gave the eulogy at Strom Thurmond’s funeral, if you are conservative in the right ways, woke people will not criticize you.
Nothing you do--for good or for bad--is going to change their opinion of you. Ignore them. They are filth.
I hate to admit it, but Biden was significantly more savvy than Sanders in this regard. Sanders did some signaling and made some concessions in messaging--not to the extent that I think his wokeness alienated his base, but he still played the game. Biden, meanwhile, viciously rejected any demands that he go through the fruity little song and dance of woke bullshit. He and his people realized, correctly, that internet idpol has fuckall to do with how a candidate is perceived by the broader public. The black leadership class and commentariat nonetheless supported him with practically zero criticism, because they were in this for their own personal gain and they threw their support to candidate they knew was being backed by the system.
And this brings us to another point: viciousness. People can't be aware that they can stab you in the back and just straight-up lie about you and you'll still play nice and invite them into positions of power on those rare occasions when you succeed. The reason the Democratic party was 98% behind Clinton in 2016 wasn't that they thought she was a strong candidate or a good person--it's because they were afraid of her. They knew that if they failed to back Clinton and she won, that would be the end of their careers.

hi oh my god thank you for the misha podcast rant. I like him a lot too which is why I need to occasionally refuel myself on him being fucking stupid but i couldn't put myself through ACTUALLY listening to him spew liberal-establishment takes. i am CHEERING you on, that man NEEDS to be radicalized.
not to vent but you got me really excited so: i watched an interview with Haitian activist David Oxygène and he talked specifically about continued US imperialism in Haiti and said "Joe Biden is a democrat. Donald Trump is a Republican. But how are their policies different?" Like, this is what liberals like Misha Collins do not understand: just bc life is now "better" for white liberals who were "stressed" doesn't mean it's changed for everyone else, especially not marginalized peoples and ESPECIALLY not marginalized peoples in other countries we keep intervening in. to act like Biden has integrity when he exists to keep a system that enforces oppression running smoothly is....ignorant.
and this all reminds me of how some of misha's political work in the past DOES lean towards white saviorism. like i think he's aware that prejudice exists and he wants to fight back against sexism and racism but he doesn't REALLY understand how it operates beyond vocal sexists and racists. for example: his # abolishice tweets where he claimed that "he supports ethical workers who just enforce immigration laws" and "while ice was bad under Obama too, the current policies under Trump are human rights violations." But like he doesn't fucking INTERROGATE that and go "wait what do borders even mean? How can we enforce laws against people MOVING? can a policing org like ice even exist without oppressing marginalized people and uplifting the white supremacist carceral state?"
LONG RANT SHORT: yes i agree celebrity liberals are being really irresponsible (and disingenuous) and i agree we can hold space to both admire his mobilizing of fans for charity and activism reasons while criticizing the areas he falls short. and i think he's getting it into his head right now that politics might be viable for him now that supernatural is over and i honestly think someone needs to drag him/hand him the communist manifesto before he gears up to run for office. you may not want to bully him but IIIII will take the fall, Dmitri let me lecture you PLEASE. anyway i am SO sorry you sat through that podcast episode. I looked at the woman's Twitter page for the podcast and like....she seems white feminist so. You're brave. I appreciate your sacrifice. I salute you! Thank you :)
OH THANK U FOR THE INPUT esp about the saviorism that tracks lookin back lmao yeah its like. all rich white democrat shit!!!!!!!!! like. cmon dude think about it a little longer…….interrogate some things Please
and yes exactly like. criticism doesnt negate any good someones done! just good 2 be informed and think about things. anyways if this man r*ns for *ff*c* i will officially be certain that we are in the most absurd and made up timeline. a cosmic joke if you will. terrifying

Tumblr media
A brokered convention will produce a powerless presidency (permalink)
Hoping for a brokered convention is basically saying, "Hey, go fuck yourself" to every doorknocker and phone canvasser in your base. It says, "Let's not use votes to choose the candidate. You little people were for show. We choose our leaders by gathering the people who matter in smoke-filled rooms."
Any candidate hoping to enact a transformative program from the presidency is going to need a powerful, motivated base to whip establishment Dems into order: "I want to do it, now make me do it." Jettisoning the idea that your supporters get you nominated is the most demoralizing thing I can imagine, short of shutting off the server your organizers used to get you elected as soon as they succeed (looking at you, Barack Obama).
It's pure technocratic hubris, the kind of thing that turns promising wonks into figureheads who accomplish nothing. Saving America from plutocracy and white nationalism requires a movement, not a savior with a plan.
What the Siege of Gondor teaches us about medieval warfare (permalink)
Last spring, Roman military historian Bret Devereaux published over 40,000 words of analysis of the Siege of Gondor as depicted in Peter Jackson's Return of the King. It is by far the best use of fiction as a tool for teaching history that I've ever read.
Tumblr media
It's in 6 parts, broken down by themes. By far my favorite section was the opener, on the logistics of sieges. I am a quartermaster by temperament, and the logistic of moving 200,000 orcs (plus trolls, elephants, siege engines, etc) is FASCINATING.
https://acoup.blog/2019/05/10/collections-the-siege-of-gondor/
Tumblr media
"The road the orcs are on allows them to march five abreast, meaning there are 40,000 such rows. Giving each orc four feet of space on the march, that would mean the army alone stretches 30 miles down a single road. At that length, the tail end of the army would not even be able to leave camp before the front of the army had finished marching for the day." (!!)
The section on the siege's opener, part II, is likewise fascinating and contains some great craft notes.
https://acoup.blog/2019/05/17/collections-the-siege-of-gondor-part-ii-these-beacons-are-liiiiiiit/
Tumblr media
"LOTR doesn't rely – as so much fiction does – on the 'good guys' making stupid mistake after stupid mistake in order to create tension. Instead, Gondor executes its plans admirably, and yet it is so outmatched in military might that it remains in peril."
Part III is more in the weeds on weapons and tactics. It gets into some really gnarly deep nerd stuff about the immediate preamble to a siege that I loved.
https://acoup.blog/2019/05/24/collections-the-siege-of-gondor-part-iii-having-fun-storming-the-city/
"The paths the siege towers will take must be cleared and leveled (even a slight grade will tip them over). Earthwork cover for the approach on the gate should be set up, along with obstructions to prevent the army within the city from advancing at an inopportune moment. In assaulting a fortified city with a large army, the spade is often the most important weapon. Even building a ramp right up the enemy walls to enter the city was a common and successful tactic, if the assaulting army had enough labor to do it quickly enough."
My favorite part of the section on calvary charge was the notable absence of NCOs in the orc ranks, maintaining discipline.
https://acoup.blog/2019/05/31/collections-the-siege-of-gondor-part-iv-the-cavalry-arrives/
Tumblr media
"The orc general, Gothmog has to push through the ranks and reorder his infantry, while the orcs stare dumbfounded at the new threat. This is a task that should have been taken up by a hundred-hundred NCOs up and down the line, which speaks to problems of command structure."
Tumblr media
By far the most intensely geeky section is in Part V, which deals with the math for calculating whether the trolls could possibly heft the hammers that deal the damage that we see.
https://acoup.blog/2019/06/07/collections-the-siege-of-gondor-part-v-just-flailing-about-flails/
"If a troll really is around 9 times as strong as a strong man, we might figure that a troll sledgehammer might be something like 81kg, and a troll warhammer only 5.76 – 13.59kg. Wildly short of the massive clubs and hammers the trolls wield in these scenes."
Tumblr media
ICE's risk assessment algorithm only ever recommends detention (permalink)
The New York Civil Liberties Union and Bronx Defenders have filed suit against ICE, trying to force it to respond to a FOIA request about risk assessment algorithm that has put people in detention 97% of the time.
https://theintercept.com/2020/03/02/ice-algorithm-bias-detention-aclu-lawsuit/
The algorithm was tweaked after the 2016 election (prior to then, it only recommended detention for 53% of cases), and by classifying virtually everyone it evaluates as a public safety risk, it violates the law's requirement of "individualized determinations" for detentions.
People in immigration detention have yet to see a judge or be found guilty. They can be locked up for weeks or months, and detention can cost them their jobs — or even their children. The Trump administration has exponentially increased the number of immigration arrests; coupled with automatic detention-by-algorithm, this has put thousands of New Yorkers in harm's way.
Investigative journalists and activists have previously shown that the algorithm was changed to eliminate all possible outcomes (bond, release, etc), so that it could only recommend detention. So the problem here isn't the usual one of not knowing how the black-box works. We know exactly how it works. You ask it, "Should this person be detained?" and it says "Yes."
"The no-release policy is particularly tough on people with disabilities or health problems. 'This practice of widespread detention is both cruel and needless.'"
Tumblr media
Probing China's Covid-19 censorship (permalink)
Citizen Lab's new report on Chinese coronavirus censorship is outstanding. By decompiling the YY client (which stores blacklist words on the client-side) and probing Wechat (which uses server-side blacklisting), they build up a detailed picture of Chinese epidemiological censorship.
https://citizenlab.ca/2020/03/censored-contagion-how-information-on-the-coronavirus-is-managed-on-chinese-social-media/
Most importantly, they demonstrate how the Cyberspace Administration of China's threat of "thematic inspections" of platforms to ensure coronavirus censorship led to indiscriminate blocking of vital public health information.
It's "authoritarian blindness" in the making, "where people too scared to tell the autocrat the hard truths makes it impossible for the autocrat to set policy that reflects reality"
https://pluralistic.net/2020/02/24/pluralist-your-daily-link-dose-24-feb-2020/#thatswhatxisaid
"Censorship of COVID-19 content started at early stages of the outbreak and continued to expand blocking a wide range of speech, from criticism of the government to officially sanctioned facts and information."
By contrast, the sheer volume of "sarcastic homonyms or word play related to COVID-19" that appear on the blacklist are really a testament to the ingenuity and spirit of Chinese netizens.
"A number of these keyword combinations are critical (e.g., "亲自 [+] 皇上," by someone + emperor), criticizing the central leadership's inability or inaction in dealing with COVID-19 ("习近平 [+] 形式主义 [+] 防疫," Xi Jinping + formalism + epidemic prevention). Many of them refer to leadership in a neutral way (e.g., "肺炎 [+] 李克强 [+] 武汉 [+] 总理 [+] 北京," Pneumonia + Li Keqiang + Wuhan + Premier + Beijing)."
Tumblr media
America is uniquely at risk from coronavirus (permalink)
Among rich countries, the USA is uniquely vulnerable to coronavirus. Thanks to its title to "by far the worst system among rich countries, it is much worse than that of many poorer countries when it comes to confronting a fast-moving epidemic."
https://theweek.com/articles-amp/899359/why-america-vulnerable-coronavirus
The US has 77m un/underinsured people. "and the vicious, right-wing ideology of the Republican Party has wrecked the government's ability to manage crises of any kind, " with "unqualified cronies" running important agencies.
"Now they are resorting to the only thing they know how to do really well — lying, concocting conspiracy theories and blaming Democrats and the media for any bad news. It does not bode well."

Currently writing: I just finished a short story, "The Canadian Miracle," for MIT Tech Review. It's a story set in the world of my next novel, "The Lost Cause," a post-GND novel about truth and reconciliation. I'm getting geared up to start work on the novel now, though the timing is going to depend on another pending commission (I've been solicited by an NGO) to write a short story set in the world's prehistory.
Currently reading: Just started Lauren Beukes's forthcoming Afterland: it's Y the Last Man plus plus, and two chapters in, it's amazeballs. Last month, I finished Andrea Bernstein's "American Oligarchs"; it's a magnificent history of the Kushner and Trump families, showing how they cheated, stole and lied their way into power. I'm getting really into Anna Weiner's memoir about tech, "Uncanny Valley." I just loaded Matt Stoller's "Goliath" onto my underwater MP3 player and I'm listening to it as I swim laps.

TCR Birthday Bash 2019: Day 7- Game Night
So this is probably going to get me either a lot of hate, thrown out of the fandom, or (best case scenario) requests for more. I’m honestly not sure which is worse (worst?) at this point. Either way please enjoy Cards Against Humanity: The Cat Returns Addition. Persephone is a TCR OC that belongs to @tcrmommabear & @sindysugar being used with their permissions.
At this point Hiromi has long since become a frequent visitor to the Bureau after following Haru one day. Meaning Hiromi while not quite as close to the others as Haru is, is still considered a friend.  Also the humans are in their early 20s and knowing my friends and I when we get into the game, potty language. Which really should just be a warning for CAH in general.
Cards Against Humanity (for those that don’t know) is played with two types of cards: Black prompt cards and White (I call them) Reaction cards. A person draws a prompt card and the other players put down their reaction card(s) face down and then replace the number of cards they used. Prompt drawing player flips them over and selects the best reaction card of the round. Best reaction card(s) win the prompt card. Prompt cards use between 1-3 reaction cards.
- - - - - - - - - - -
To be fair, the entire thing was ENTIRELY Hiromi’s fault. Now that’s not to say that Haru didn’t love her best friend, because she did. She also knew EXACTLY what kind of humor Hiromi had. Mix that with a card game who’s box quite literally proclaims it to be “A horrible game for horrible people”. Yeah… It’s all Hiromi’s fault.
Hiromi drew a black prompt card. “’What’s making things awkward in the sauna?’ Ok folks hit me with your best shots.”
Louise puts down a card reading ‘A sales team of clowns and pedophiles.’
Muta chose to use ‘Scrotum tickling.’
Persephone gave it some thought before selecting ‘Cute Boys.’
Baron hesitated before putting down ‘MechaHitler.’
Haru slaps down ‘Full Frontal Nudity.’ with NO HESITATION.
Toto calmly places down ‘Fiery Poops.’
Hiromi reads all the reaction cards before declaring “A sales team of clowns and pedophiles is the winner. Who put that down cuz yeah that would make things awkward?”
Louise raises a hand while smirking. She accepts her prize before drawing a new prompt card, “’Only two things in life are certain: death and (blank).’ Oh my, there are so many ways that could be taken.”
Hiromi slapped down ‘The violation of our most basic human rights.’ as her card.
Muta, thinking of everything that happens regarding any of the groups antics, put down ‘Total fucking chaos.’
Persephone, not having very many good cards, selects ‘The male gaze.’
Baron, knowing how dramatic his sister is, chose ‘Dropping a chandelier on your enemies and riding the rope up.’ (winner)
Haru hemmed and hawed before putting down ‘Kamikaze pilots.’
Toto put down ‘Every ounce of charisma left in Mick Jagger’s tired body.’ hoping to get some laughs.
Louise read the cards out loud, cackling in between them, and said “’Dropping a chandelier on your enemies’ wins. So which one of you called me out like this?”
“I did sister dear, after all between the two of us this is exactly the kind of dramatics you would use.” Snorts echoed around the table, implying that Louise wasn’t the only over-the-top-Gikkingen around.
And so the game continued:
R3) Muta- (prompt) Listen, Gary, I like you. But if you want that corner office, you’re going to have to show me (blank).
Hiromi- Being a busy adult with many important things to do
Louise- Deez nuts
Persephone- Exactly what you’d expect
Baron- A constant need for validation
Haru- My worthless son
Toto- Meaningless sex
“Tough call but with how humans are ‘A constant need for validation.’ wins although ‘Meaningless sex.’ was close.” “Drat,” Toto declared while Baron took another card.
R4)Persephone- (prompt) Dear Sir or Madam, We regret in infom you that the Office of (blank) has denied your request for (blank).
Hiromi- Bill Nye the Science Guy & A gassy antelope
Louise- Republicans & Black People
Muta- Blackula & The shambling corpse of Larry King
Baron- Sean Penn & Tripping balls
Haru- AXE Body Spray & Being fabulous

“Seriously Louise? ‘Wifely duties.’ AND ‘Consensual sex.’ You know that combination wins.” “Sorry Love but that wasn’t mine.” “Nope it was mine.” “Well either way it was well played, well done Toto.”
“Looks like it’s time to pull out the ‘Most Horrible Person of the Night Award’.” “Hiromi, No!” “Hiromi YES!” “Hey! Why does Birdbrain get Doritos?!”
R5) Baron- (prompt) Well if (blank) is a crime, then lock me up!
Hiromi- The boners of the elderly
Louise-  Eating together like a god damn family for once
Muta- The harsh light of day
Persephone- The Boy Scouts of America
Haru- Saying “I Love You”
Toto- The light of a billion suns
“I feel like I’m being called out right now. Who played ‘Saying “I Love You.”?” Baron asked with a very unamused look on his face.
“I did,” Haru replied straightfaced.
“You’re never going to let that go are you?”
“What do you think?”
Baron sighed before handing Haru the prompt card. It was better not to argue with her.
R6) Haru- (prompt) When I was tripping on acid, (blank) turned into  (blank).
Hiromi- Sudden Poop Explosion Disease & Used panties

Baron- YOU MUST CONSTRUCT ADDITIONAL PYLONS
Haru- The Hamburglar
Toto- Statistically validated stereotypes
“What? I’m hungry!”

Hiromi- Jesus & White people
Louise- Third base & Being fat and stupid

■What are your top 3 favorite houses of Westeros?
HOUSE TARGARYEN. I mean Hello! 👀
HOUSE STARK. The Ice to my favorite fire house!
HOUSE DAYNE. Extremely underrated & unexplored I would love to know more.
■If you could live during one era in GRRM’s universe what era would it be? (Age of Heroes, Valyrian Empire, Conquest of Westeros, Dance of Dragons etc.)
I'd probably be like either a weirwood & live through all of these eras lol or I'd be a child of the forest secretly surviving since dawn age at the isle of faces or something! Coz I can't choose one era 😜
■What is your favorite episode/scene from the Game of Thrones TV series?
Battle of the Bastards, Loot train attack, Tower of Joy, First look at Ser Arthur Dayne 💜 basically every time arya is on screen. But I guess S05E04 holds a special place in my heart that whole episode was about Subtle hints at jon's Parentage/Subtle-mild hints at Jonerys future magical babies/ & had perhaps my most fav scene in the show of dany & Ser Barristan Selmy bonding over Rhaegar!
"Rhaegar never liked killing, he loved singing."
■What ruler do you think brought about the most change in Westeros, be it good or bad?
Jaehaerys I Targaryen, the Conciliator. Alysanne Targaryen, the Good Queen. I think they were the Obama's of the 7k literally inherited the realm from Maegor who almost crumbled the dynasty & the realm but they rebuilt it to last for two more centuries. While you asked Good & Bad I'd like to mention for 99% of good that Baehaerys did there was 1% of bad done by him too. The Iron Precedent of 101 A.C. that establishes male inheritance over female which single handedly caused DOD, Blackfyre Rebellions & is still a problem! If only Jaehaerys would've listened to Alysanne & made daenerys the heir! Listen to your wives Men! Make it a habit!
■If you could ask GRRM one question what would it be?
In a shitty, patriachial world like Westeros, where it is more than clear that men have build & sustained their kingdoms & legacies through Acts of War or Revenge or Want & Need to secure power. Why are women like Daenerys, Arya & Cersei criticized as would-be Mad or psychotic/Too far gone or Already Mad characters?
■If GRRM could write a short novel/series about one other family or historical time (besides the Targaryens) in his universe what would you want it to be about? (My choice would be Nymeria’s Journey!)
Good choice Naomi!👌
I would like to learn more about The Daynes man House Dayne! They are so peculiar, mysterious & any reader of asoiaf knows theres more to that house that is important for the endgame than what we know! More about this family dating back to the Dawn age & the era of the rule of Kings of Torrentine. More about Ashara Dayne & her eldest brother who is still unnamed what is his name? How did he actually look like if his son has valyrian features? was he a snack just like his younger brother?.. you know.. important questions like those needs to be answered!
■What was your first introduction to ASOIAF/Game of Thrones? Did someone tell you about it, did you see it online or did you come across it at a store/shop?
My cousin told me about the book series but I was busy with my studies at the time so I couldn't pick it up. But then the show happened & he told me about it too so I watched the first season before reading the books. Then I picked up my Jaw from the floor after watching S01 & straight away bought those books. & THAT'S HOW MY LIFE ENDED!
■What’s one thing that bothers you about GRRM’s series?
I think it's the doylism that bothers me. It has always bothered me I am a Tolkien nerd & that man wrote stories beyond human capacity & error. Middle earth is as fantasy as fantasy can be & even though J. R. R Tolkien was inspired to write his stories by the service he did in military during war his story isn't a doylist one, maybe mild references here & there but nothing as serious as asoiaf. I feel like doylism complicates everything in this story! (P.S I also never was much of a history student Biology was Life!)
■What’s one thing you unabashedly love about GRRM’s series?
The impossibly, irrevocably, unattainable & unfair high expectation of men (selective men) that GRRM has created. I mean good luck to myself on getting in a relationship or getting married coz you aint never gonna be Ser Arthur Dayne awesome or Rhaegar Targaryen & Jon Snow Broody, Melancholy sexy!
■What are your feelings about the prequel series in development at HBO right now for the Long Night?
I really really love Bran Stark & how he is connected to the rich 8,000 or longer history of Kings of Winter & the actual nature of this world, all the stuff that predates back to Dawn Age. First Long Night is something I would definitely love to watch, Fingers crossed am sure I'll like it! Also because valyria came into existence right after the First Long Night so this series only gives me hope for a Valyrian Freehold Prequel THAT WHICH I TRULY WANT!
Now tagged by @chillyravenart
Here goes..
■Which Westerosi castle would you like to live in?
Starfall, Dorne. Duh!
■Would you rather be a rich and influential lord, born into wealth and privilege or would you rather be someone who wields power from the sidelines, like Littlefinger?
I'd rather be born rich & influential because I know myself I won't be another cuckoo Lord or lady of the 7k. Plus it seems like anyone like Little Finger or varys who rises from sidelines have to sell their souls to the Satan with zero sense of humanity & everything being a race for power.
■Pick one: platinum hair or purple eyes?
I'll take purple eyes because I have jet black hair & purple eyes just compliment the fuck out of black hairs!
■Based on a tag I made once, based on your physical features, which part of Westeros/which house do you belong to?
In dorne probably House Martell.
■Who do you think will actually defeat the Night King?
I think Bran is the one who is truly going to defeat Night King.
■Three people you think will die in season 8?
Night King, Cersei & Varys. Can I add a fourth? Melisandre too.
■What would you name your dragon/direwolf?
My Dragon would be called Tzarax & my Direwolf would be called Amaris which means Child of the moon. She'd be an albino without red eyes maybe golden eyes!
■How must Ser Pounce be avenged?
Ser Pounce's daughter should train to be a faceless assassin & return all badass with many faces of cats & avenge Ser Pounce roaming around the red keep biting the hell out of anyone because Valar Mewghulis. All Men must be biten.
■Whose POV chapters are your favourite? (If you haven’t read the books... skip this and hang your head in shame lol jk jk jk)
My fav POV chapters are Bran, Dany, Jon, Arya. In that order!
Hang your head in shame lmao👏😂
■Your favourite ASOIAF/GOT antagonist?
Varys. This dude is going to burn in the seventh hell for all the bs he has unleashed upon just about everyone he has ever come across. I would name LF too but unfortunately it seems Varys outlived him so yeah The Spider & his webs are deadly as they come.
My Questions are:
1. What is that one moment or situation in asoiaf or GOT Tv show that inspires you positively?
2. YOUR ONE TRUE SHIP?
3. What is your favorite, ride or die character? CHOOSE ONE, ONLY ONE!
4. If you were to be the Ruler of Westeros & name Seven fighters to your Kingsguard who would they be? (They can be from the current generation of asoiaf or any fighter from any era, choice is all yours!)
6. Your own House sigil, house color(s) & house words?
5. What are your views about Robert's Rebellion?
7. Which is that one Character you wish had more screen time on the show (or) had a POV in the books?
8. Imagine Red Keep School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, which houses would the sorting hat sort these characters into? { Arya, Jon, Daenerys, Bran, Tyrion, Robb, Jaime, Cersei, Sansa, Rickon, Gendry, Joffery, Margaery, Brienne, Pod, Tormund, Hound, Missandei, Greyworm, Bronn, Sam & Gilly }
9. How do you prefer to watch the Final season? With a partner or spouse / alone by myself with no one to bug me / go to a watch party or bar episode events.
I'm Tagging @chillyravenart @naomimakesart @beautifuloutkasts @drakhus @phoebemaybe @mamadragon-daenerys @blue-roses-and-red-rubbies @northernlights37 @tomakeitbeautifultolive @toaquiprashippar @daenerys1417 @submarinesofpacific @crystalmusezz @ anyone who would like to do this i'd like to know your answers!
10. Nobody knows for sure how this story ends, but what is your ideal end to this story?

What was the most underrated weapon during the Vietnam War?
COMMENTARY:
The M-79 is the one weapon I learned to appreciate OJT. The troops really liked them and they knew their jobs.
There are somethings you can only learn when you are being shot at. I mean, the shit hits the fan and something happens and, like, a little LED goes off in the periphery vision of fhe ecology of your mind and it makes a triangulation the concept of “lessons learned” and whatever set off the LED in the first place.
In a fire fight in the Central Highlands, I depended a great deal on the sounds of the squabble going on around me because you can’t see what is happening but you can hear it. If you are close enough to an unexpected explosion to have lost your hearing, you probably are charging into a near ambush more for something to do than any real expectation of tell the tale, much less evaluate lessons learned.
I never made a fetish of being able to see the point man constantly. I moved up and down the line during a patrol for various reasons. It made my platoon sergeant a little crazy, because his job was to constantly bring up the rear sit rep when we stopped or ran into something, And he wanted me to be up front. And I wanted him to be able to run the squads where I wasn’t early on.
Anyway, I was at the rear of march with him, trying to figure out where we were and listening for movement around us. And a fight started at point and we started it and it was my point man on rock-and-roll and moving forward as he fired. It was plain as day. He was running after something and then an AK-47 coughed out a short burst and then “thoomp” and a very short flight ending in a bang. And a little LED went off in the periphery of the ecology of my mind at the same time one of their machine guns opened up further away, but I didn’t hear any thing before I heard I heard the muzzle blast which was beyond the bang of the HE from the M-79.
So, I left my platoon sergeant to establish a rear defense, because we were not alone and and deep in Indian Territory and, by the time I got forward, my squad leader and the point team were following a blood trail that bagged us a prisoner, which they winched out with a dust off jungle penetrator with me never seeing the POW. One of the guys following the blood trail was the craziest of my medics and he did whatever magic was required and it so happens a dust-off was on station for the little fire base we were working out of and by then, his squad was forward, and they told my RTO to call dust-off and my RTO told my FO RTO to drop down on the dust-off channel while he kept hooked into my 6. And it was over.
And I understood the M-79 in a brand new way. I had a gunner who was a Hugeunot from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. As he explained it to me, Hugeunots are pacifist but they consider republican service to be a missionary along the lines of a Mormon two year missionary like Mitt Romney.
I have come to understand the theological basis of this gunner/pacifist’s military service to be exactly the same basis that Jeff Sessions cited to justify a stupid, mean-spirited abuse of power, Romans 13:1 Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. The problem is that Sessions is exactly correct in terms of republican service: this is the “Orders are orders” clause of the rule of law of Nurenberg fame. It is an essential concept to our form of constitutional government. My problem with the Conservative application is that their policies creates the emergencies, like immigration, that end up requiring harsh measures. The INS/ICE people are doing their jobs according to their oath of office to defend and perform the duties of republican service. When Trump blames the Democrats for the immigration situation requiring indiscriminate and wholesale detention and family separation, remember that the same people who conducted 3 years of hearings about Benghazi and are trying to sabotage Mueller’s due diligence investigation into a domestic attack by a foreign power against our constitutional processes are the same people who control Congress and passed Trump’s Tax Reform with virtually no Democrat support cannot pass reform legislation for immigration and are the same people who obstructed everything and anything Obama proposed for 6 years. The crypto-Nazis of the GOP Deep State have been trying to create this immigration crises since Grover Norquist stabbed GHWBush in the back in his 1992 re-election bid and, now, Jeff Sessions observes, with heavy heart, that GOD requires him to do his duty and fuck with migration being driven by the hydraulics caused by the War on Drugs.
But I digress. This gunner, I have lost his name in letters I wrote the the girl back home. For a Huguenot, he had a whole lot more Scots-Irish in his family than France in that sort of raw-boned Tar Heel sinew-thin form that stood like a stonewall behind Jackson at First Bull Run. He was about as emotional in action as a charter boat captain cleaning the day’s catch for his passengers. He could keep three HE rounds in the air, if you fed him, and draw a circle around a target at the maximum effective range of an M-16, or within that boundary. I never saw him do it, but he could hit moving targets more often than riflemen could and riflemen could use the arc of his rounds to adjust their fires. I had two more like him, although he was the main event. There was an artistry in how he worked.
So, from my perspective, I learned to appreciate the M-79, a handy thing to have in the family when your mission is to close with the enemy and kill him, in a Romans 13:1 kind of way.

It wasn't his knowledge of programme, his appeal, or anything remotely leadership-like that led to the vogue of Donald Trump. If anything, it was the serenity and willingness with which he returned himself into a walking meme, ended with a fandom busy composing fanfiction, supporter beliefs( i.e. stupid conspiracy ideologies ), and, of course, tons of bad fan skill. Now are some of the weirdest and wildest cases under the current Trumpian prowes motion for "youve got to" assimilate before they find their way into the National Portrait Gallery.

Deep Dream Trump Is Pure Nightmare Fuel
While computers are getting better at everything that sees humen so special( like opening doors ), there is one region where we'll ever using them to lick: logical thinking. After all, it's hard to have a sense of whimsy when a lost semicolon can return you into scrap. In detail, a very close we've get to causing computers a macrocosm of pure imagery is through "deep learning" -- software that simulated how our neutrons fire and is perhaps the future of neural networks. And like any good humans, we uttered computers the endow of invention, merely to spend it on monstrosities like this :P TAGEND

This art is submitted in accordance with creator Chris Rodley plugging pictures of Donald Trump into a penetrating teach algorithm which was also "looking for portraits from Sesame Street . It could be a lot worse, though. You could be looking at a video of Trump be converted into an awakened eldritch cruelty contending against the confines of our universe :P TAGEND

This nightmare fuel was brought into our world by Eric Cheng, who said he established it by plugging a video of a Trump speech into a penetrating discover algorithm that was simultaneously thinking about Cthulhu. The elevation of Cthulhu influence was governed by the volume at which Trump was speaking. We're lucky that it was one of his quieter rantings. If it had been about minorities or women, that video might have accidentally opened a wormhole into the domain of the Elder Ones.

All Hail God-Emperor Trump ! div>
To a lot of internet manbabies, Trump is the ultimate badass. He's an ass-kicker and a risk-taker, a street fighter and shot-caller, the person who throws the Big Mac into Mack Daddy. Of track, in order to maintain that panorama of Trump, you have to constantly dismiss all of actuality . Fortunately, the internet boys help find a method to easily block out the pesky truth by replacing it with hardcore sci-fi fan story!

Meet God-Emperor Trump, may his choked routes predominate for immortality. Located on the lore of the favourite tabletop gaming universe Warhammer 40,000 , which is set in a ludicrously dystopian future, the cruddy line-up of the internet is fitted with likeness of Trump as the iconic Emperor of Mankind, immortal sovereign of the human dominion wreaking his never-ending fighting to the undesirables. Kanye West Liking Trump Is The Most Kanye West Thing Ever
But the comparing isn't flattering for either line-up. Evidencing again that they have the cultural penetration of someone who's been in a lethargy since the '6 0s, Trump fanboys seem to not realize that this Emperor of Mankind is nothing more than a freakish ogre whose "shattered, crumbling form can no longer support life, " or that his ruler gave rise to "technological and cultural rights stagnation, and a regression into cruelty, superstition and religious obfuscation and intolerance." So God-Emperor Trump is based on some slither who conventions over a dystopia in which mindless, alien-hating militants sacrifice thousands daily to keep the bloated corpse of their despot governor departing. Maybe they did do their research after all.
And to introduce the cherry on the stupid neo-Nazi patty, the God-Emperor isn't, uhm ... white-hot. He was born in primary Anatolia( Turkey) in 8,000 BC. Meaning the web dictators have changed their white-hot supremacy superstar into a space-age Middle Eastern king.

The New "Alt-Right" Cartoon Mascot Adoration Dressing Up As Trump
You once know about Pepe, the amiable comic book frog who became a hate emblem. But since Pepe has gone very mainstream, hardcore "alt-right" dudes have created a excellent mascot for the brand-new Trump age: a inadequately gleaned copyright infringement.
via Will Sommer/ Medium "Racist Frog, Reclining Nude"
This corpulent little shit-grinner is Groyper. No, that's not a Trump-inspired brand-new Pokemon( although we understand the fluster ). We're speak about Groyper the Frog, the MS Paint cartoon mascot for hardcore politicos . He even comes in countless cute clothings for love to frisk dress-up with( dog whistle sold separately ). There's Papa John Groyper :P TAGEND

So if you're wants to know why all the worst accounts on Twitter swopped up their avatars to this, that's why. It's obviously not because Matt Furie, the developer of Pepe, has started litigating the white-hot fastens off of any favourite enough site for copyright infraction. No, it's because Pepe isn't hot fairly anymore. Not like Groyper, who's too cool for clas -- art school, specifically.

The Anti-Obama Oil Painter Now Envisions Trump Is The New Messiah
Jon McNaughton is perhaps one of history's greatest craftsmen. Not because he formed anything impressive or profound or thought-provoking, spirit, but because his manipulates are some of the goddamn funniest examples of religious right-wing bathos.
Jon McNaughton First and foremost, why would you plant a tree three feet in front a situate where people will be sitting?
This lovely painting, named You Are Not Forgotten , boasts Herr Conditioner and demonstrates that you can't form Trump look warm and attractiveness even if you proceed him yourself. But the real beauty of McNaughton's art lies in the fact that he's time a really, actually hacky government cartoonist with a better touch stroke recreation. He often boasts about the number of members of "symbols" he manages to stuff into a single canvas. Now, the topic is unity. That's why a not-that-keen eye can will distinguish that Everyman Trump is looming over a working-class clas( whom he's shafted) as they plant a flower( which he's fucking kill) in front of a gather of veterans and soldiers( whom he dishonors ), disabled population( whom he doesn't care about ), black people( whom he doesn't like ), many cabinet members( whom he's burnt ), police officers( whom he's reviled ), and laborers( whom he doesn't wage ).
div >
But McNaughton didn't establish his honour by paring half a dozen inches off of Trump's waist. He became a republican beloved by making drops on President Obama for a solid eight years. Here's his interpretation of Obama's domestic policy :P TAGEND
Jon McNaughton Did you acknowledge the 9/11 symbolism? The stuff that happened seven years before Obama was president, when a Republican was in office?
His foreign policy :P TAGEND
Jon McNaughton To be fair, Los Alamos does have a really nice golf course.
div >
His stance on Obamacare :P TAGEND
Jon McNaughton There vanishes the story for National Treasure 3.
And here again is that classic, peculiarity Obama trampling over the interests of the very same working man who Trump will afterwards save while all the good Republican presidents are yelling at him :P TAGEND
Jon McNaughton "But I wanted to flower a tree there ... "
div >
Man, Obama really seems like a cock in these likeness. We're astounded that the nuclear shell didn't change his golf waver, or that he escaped unharmed after dipping the Charter in napalm and rectifying it alight in his hands, although that's to be expected when you're Literally Satan. Their capabilities are absolutely interminable, as is his cruelty ... as demonstrated by that time he magnetism a soldier to feed a slice of a lesbian marriage cake.
Jon McNaughton "It's not even ice cream cake. Thanks, Obama."
Save us, President Trump! Save us from that deceitful pitch-black sn- oh, you already have.
Jon McNaughton There is an extremely prominent pennant advising against this very thing!

Barron Trump, Manga Star
While Trump himself has a awfully divisive kind of notoriety, the same can't be said about the Trump juveniles -- Ivanka, Donnie Jr ., and the one who looks like a hardboiled egg with a appearance gather on it. His spawn are nigh-universally taunted, incessantly putting their feet in those openings they can't ever seem to fully close. But one Trump kid is exempt from this sneer: Barron, the unassuming, sweet-looking 12 -year-old who actually has to live in the White House with his mom and dad. Becoming entertaining of a kid is not the most wonderful act to do, so two confidential masters have gone the other direction, trying to delve into the mind of this placid son and figuring out the ferment he was required to find from having the most powerful dreadful parent in the whole world -- in fabulous manga structure, natch.
Yuusuke Hori "At least it's not a prejudiced amphibian."
div >
This very melodramatic patch was affixed by master Yuusuke Hori right after Trump's inauguration. It pictures Barron in sparkly bishonen use with a name that speaks "My loud, riling dad is director, so the gentle unassuming life I demanded is fully over." It was only wanted as a goofy mockup handle, but because it came insanely favourite, we eventually got the for-realsies The Adventures Of Barron And His Loud-Mouthed President Father , i> and it's everything we've ever wanted.
Joy Ling Well, except for Trump not to be president, but still.
To all the non-otaku out there, TAOBAHLMPF ( created by Brooklyn-based artist Joy Ling) ensure Barron, who really exactly wants to "watch Netflix and play Pokemon, " teaming with Sasha and Malia Obama to solve the puzzle circumventing a "mysterious anomaly" that appeared after "his fathers" took office -- which is not a gracious nature alluding to Kellyanne Conway. We don't want to give away too many spoilers, but one of the center conflicts revolves around Barron trying to persuade his father to help gave happens right. Oh, that's right, Donald Jerwillickers Trump makes an appearance, or at least the DJT from the universe where he doesn't is argued that exert is a radical plan to sap his cherished bodily fluids.

49 times we thought 2017 couldn't get any worse, and then oh god
Tumblr media
Once upon a time, I prayed for 2016 to end. Now I'd do anything to get it and its incredibly corny hot takes about dead celebrities back.
Let's be honest — 2017 was a bad year. There were heroic moments sprinkled throughout, including the time the almighty Congresswoman Maxine Waters walked away from a group of reporters and launched her superstar career. A feminist hippo was born. Someone made whatever the hell this is.
But by and large, 2017 was a year shaped by anger and Donald Trump tweets and Sean Spicer holocaust revisionism.
SEE ALSO: Someone created a storm lamp that produces lightning every time Trump tweets
Experts in authoritarianism advise people to take notes about the world changing around them (for the best round-up, check out Amy Siskind's history here). When you're living in a state of constant chaos and trauma, it's easy to forget about the time Donald Trump implied that Frederick Douglass was alive.
Here's a look back at the year we thought couldn't get worse, then did.
1. January 10th
We learn that the President of the United States may have colluded with the Russians because he peed on a bunch of sex workers to piss off Obama, and there may be *copy* of the tape.
2. January 20th

Local New Orleans Response to Trump’s Immigration Ban
Tumblr media
The Trump administration is denying refugees and immigrants from certain Muslim-majority countries entry to the United States. Trump’s also calling for local law enforcement to help detain undocumented immigrants for deportation. Mayor Landrieu has stated the “NOPD will not be coerced into joining Trump’s deportation army.” http://bit.ly/2jXuQL7
 1. How do you feel about Mayor Landrieu’s response?
 -Good.
-I feel amazing about this response! I do not support deportation of undocumented immigrants and I do not support trumps Muslim ban.
-100% agree.
-Agree
-Hell yes thank you landrieu
-I am 100% behind landrieu. I am so happy to be an Orleans parish resident who has someone fighting for the rights of all, not just some.
-Mayor Landrieu's statement is the only reasonable response to the current immigration policy.
-LOVE IT!!
-Glad he's taking a stand against federal government overreach.
-They should have been doing their job from the beggining ! Mayor Landrieu is a rich man who wants to pit poor man against poor man! He wants to get his houses painted cheaper by the Mexican laborers , all while expecting higher taxes on the houses owned by local contractors who are struggling for contracts !
-I agree
-Good!
-It is the correct response!!
-I agree with the mayor.
-It's great.
-workforce needs more immigrant workers to staff the jobs that other more established/assimilated 2nd & 3rd generation American workers no longer want. And from non-violent people who are pursuing the American Dream, trying to better themselves & our nation. Economics experts have been saying for yrs, tht the US a job that belongs to the Feds! And personally, I question both the judgement & the character of any politician who would expend resources locking up Chump! In all seriousness, NOPD, JPSO & Louisiana State Police have enough problems on their hands, as it is; We dont need to burden local law enforcement with Kudo's (I approve!) Of Mayor Landrieu's response; Thank Goodness we have local politicians who will stand up to the illegitimate Russian-anounted "President" what i've seen, immigrant workers work much harder, than American born citizens do.

-Kudo's (I approve!) Of Mayor Landrieu's response; Thank Goodness we have local politicians who will stand up to the illegitimate Russian-anointed "President"
-I am grateful for his response.
-Great!
-I agree with the mayor, but while we are disagreeing as Americans the enemy will slip in.
-Round of applause!!!
-👍
-I love it
- It's so important. Congress isn't standing up to what's seems to be for all purposes unconstitutional legislation. I'm so happy some Mayors are taking a stand.
-Great answer!
-I think it's the appropriate response
-Great!
-I am ALL for it. This is America and we are all immigrants here.
-Appropriate
-I think it's spot on!
-Thank him for me please.
-I agree with the mayor. For starters, enforcement of federal immigration laws is outside the jurisdiction of local law enforcement. If the feds need help, they need to deputize new agents.
-I support his response, but question his motives (political positioning)
-Praise be! At least one government official ain't drinkin da kool aid
-It's the right decision. We are a country of immigrants
-NOPD can barely do basic policing in the city with their manpower problems. Although illegal aliens should get whatever is coming to them, not from NOPD.
-Extremely positive. I'm very proud of Mayor Landrieu
-Thank you Landrieu!!!
-Good on the mayor. History will be kind to those who stood up to Orange Foolius.
-Love it!!
-I am with Landrieu 100% on that. I may have some reservations about immigration and how it's handled, but it's not the job of local officers to enforce ICE regs
-https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/acting-attorney-general-an-obama-administration-holdover-wont-defend-trump-immigration-order/2017/01/30/a9846f02-e727-11e6-b82f-687d6e6a3e7c_story.html?tid=sm_fb&utm_term=.6e416b348ac8#
-I am 100% behind Landrieu's decision. Trump is a lying hateful fearmongering assclown.
-Be the first thing Landrieu has done right!
-I support Mayor Landrieu 100%! Trump frightens me & he certainly did not have a mandate from the voters. He is arrogant, egotistical & dictatorial. It's a sad day for America.
-I think it's appropriate
-Positive!
-Support Landrieu in this all the way!
-Allow Taxpayers and Crime Victims The Ability To Sue Politicians For Sanctuary City Policies‼️
-I'm grateful our mayor isn't going along with this disgusting ban
-The United States cannot continue to afford to allow these people from all these different countries in here, they are draining the economy, then most of them send their money to their countries, and complain about ours while there here, Mayor Landrieu’s administration cant even repair our streets, or the crime here, hell they cant even pick up trash here, I woudnt ever vote for another politican in Louisiana nor New Orleans again!
-LOVE IT
-He sucks
-I think that's fine by me
-I am absolutely for that response we must take action against this bigot regime -Agree with mayor
-I support the NOPD decision & other PD'S across the country. We can't legitimize militarized facism & police have better things to work on. Elaine Masters
-Solid
-Bravo mayor landrieu!
-Trump rules
-👍 -Good for the mayor. Full support to him. -Immigrants helped rebuild New Orleans. We should not be hunting them down. We should push our government to offer more possible pathways to citizenship.
-I fully support Mayor Landrieu's stance! -Outstanding. I Truly respect his response
-Smart answer.
-I'm fine with that
-Thank goodness, so glad he is responding this way!!!
-Good! That's not the job of the NOPD or any other Police Dept. The NOPD is already understaffed and have more important issues that need to be prioritized. Trumps demands are stupid. Like him.
-i support it. immigrants - legal or no - shouldn't be afraid of local law enforcement. if someone commits a crime against them they aren't going to report it if they think they'll get deported.
-Great!
-I feel it's the right thing to do and I hope he sticks to not cooperating
-I think it shows strength of character & real leadership.
-Proud! And relieved that our local political leadership at least is sane. -Go Mitch! All these executive orders are bullshit!
-Yes, yes, yes. Thanks Mitch!
-I am glad that New Orleans' leadership will not give into the fear and bigotry of the Trump administration.
-I don't think our mayor should focus his efforts on this issue. He should consider a real plan to fit crime instead.
-I stand with the Mayor 100%. Trump 's policy is unconstitutional, immoral and in-American.
-Perfectly appropriate.
-Love it!!! So proud of this response!
-Great
-Who is this
-I feel glad. It makes me feel good about our City's leadership.
-Very happy and hoping Mayor Landrieu will continue to #resist
-Hallelujah! Finally, an elected official with enough balls to stand up to tyrant trump. Thank you, Mayor Landrieu!
-Great response.
-I think it's a very compassionate and the only proper response to such an order. If only more officials would stand up to it in such a way.
-I am fucking thrilled public servants at all levels are pushing back against that orange troll and I hope Mitch keeps it up
- Hell yes!
-Thankful -Refugees aren't being denied access, this is an extension of Obama vetting process. If local government won't follow Federal law as instructed by the Mayor, he then is breaking the law. If refugee is caught breaking the law and found to be here illegally, that refugee SHOULD BE DEPORTED or turned over to Feds for prosecution and/or deportation.
-I stand behind Landrieu 100%
-Mayor Landrieu's response is appropriate. There are other agencies to handle such issues and NOPD has other things to worry about
-The Mayor's response is wise and appropriate. It is not the duty of local law enforcement to do the job of ICE. Aside from being outside their duties, it opens the door to profiling and illegal detainment, which we should be combatting as a nation, not emboldening.
-I support Mayor Landrieu-s response!!!! Mayor Landrieu is able to critically think and I support him 100%!!!
-Exactly what needed to be done. Refuse to treat other humans as less than. Fear does not rule this country.
-Support!
-NOPD has enough on its plate.
-I'm with Trump!!
-Proud
-Support Landrieu 100%
-Approve
-Great job, I agree
-THANKS MITCH
-He did the right thing
-It is a mayor's prerogative to serve the people the of his city. Perhaps immigrants (illegal or legal) don't represent a large enough crime problem in new Orleans for him to reallocate police forces. Disproportionate responses are every bit as wasteful as fraud.
-He's doing the right thing
-Awesome! -I feel good about it. I'm glad our mayor has a spine.
-Brilliant
-Right is right
2. How might Trump’s immigration policies affect you or someone you know?
-I don't think anyone knows or can say. It's an uncertain, frightening time.
-These policies are of extreme concern to me and my family and friends as many people who work for my family, including my housekeeper, will be in direct danger of being forced to leave due to policies like this. Many of my friends from college are from middle eastern predominantly Muslim countries and are worried that they may lose the ability to stay in this country and work here as they have for many years.
-None that I'm aware of.
-I have an Iranian friend living in Florida who is actually a Swedish citizen. His family was granted asylum there due to conflicts in Middle East. He is a green card holder. He still has family in Iran. They will not be able to travel freely to see each other. I find this appalling and I think Trump is a narcissistic bully who bolsters his "image" on the backs of the oppressed.
-Donald's immigration policies damage diplomatic and cultural relations with the entire Islamic world, undermining the long-term interests of the United States and her allies.
-I have numerous clients (I'm a lawyer) who are undocumented. I worry how they will be effected.
-It affects neither me nor someone I know
-Badly
-I work with many immigrants. Not clear on how many might be affected...lots of fear and sadness though...
-Should not affect me or anyone I know
-Trump's immigration policies are bad for the economy. Latino workers, in particular, tend to be multi-skilled & are incredibly hard working. Trump's immigration - policies are all a charade to pander to the lowest common denominator of society. What's more, Trump's rhetoric is shameful, hate-filled & xenophoebic & is all
-Trump's immigration policies are bad for the economy. Latino workers, in particular, tend to be multi-skilled & are incredibly hard working. Trump's immigration policies are all a charade to pander to the lowest common denominator of society. What's more, Trump's rhetoric is shameful, hate-filled & xenophoebic & is all a ploy to lead America towards war, for oil industry profits.
-My boyfriend is a police officer - as a police officer, without Landrieu's response, he could be tasked with a job he doesn't believe is right. He's also half-Egyptian and was raised Muslim. Additionally, he wants to serve and protect the people of New Orleans not deport them.
-Not at all.
-I have many friends and former graduate students from Muslim majority and Latin countries. They add a lot to this country and my life, and have always welcomed me to their countries. I'm sad this policy will inevitably cause trouble that will take years to smooth over. It officially signals the US is not an exception to the autocratic regimes it promises to stand up to.
-Today the focus is on Mexicans & Muslims. Tomorrow it could be blacks whether born here or not. Racism is racism
-People will be separated from their families -This country is run on immigrant power. The void at all levels would be felt. Our country would stagnate
-Not personal. Just bad for the country and the world. -Not -H1B workers are very important to the tech sector.
-Won't affect me nor anyone I know. Whatever impact is felt anywhere will be worked out in the near future.
-My daughter has a friend who is a citizen and her parents aren't. She's worried they'll be deported.
-No idea
-It won't affect me personally, but how would it affect the kids that go to my daughter's school, especially if they're wrongly accused of being here illegally?
-I have Muslim friends and colleagues, some from countries on the list. I worry that this EO is just the beginning of an extremely exclusive and opaque regime. More countries will be added, and I worry about that.
-No one in my family, those that were immigrants did it right and many years ago. But i have known some that got caught in the past in the quagmire of papperwork.
-They affect us all. This is a country build by immigrants
-Along with taxpayer savings, greater local, state, and national safety and security.
-I'm the daughter of an immigrant and while these bans don't affect me personally, I can't help but be affected emotionally
-I might have a better chance of getting a decent job, because I wont have to compete with so many others from all these foreign countries. Also all of my family were born Americans, for generations, I hope he sends all of the ones here back that should not be here, and I support his efforts. Were over crowded here. This should have been done a long time ago.
-Well as its just asinine it affects all of us. Terrible track for our country overall.
-Many friends here in San Diego are terrified. Others are cancelling travel plans. It's a nightmare. Elaine Masters
-Unsure, but it could tear apart my community. That is not worth it, not at all.
-There are families in our local schools that could possibly be torn apart. Is that something we want?
-My friend may nor be able to go to his family's country of origin to visit because of fears of not being able to come back to the US. I also feel like the president is setting the US up to be attacked.
-Not me personally, but I think diversity is good. Vetting is not bad. But banning is...
-It won't affect me directly but many families I know may be separated. I know people that are here legally , with green cards or visas and have been held for hours at the airport. This is not very American.
-it hurts the entire country because it weakens our position internationally and because we NEED immigrants. they're an important part of our workforce and communities -It may not affect anyone I know directly but it's a slippery slope policy that has historically been shown to be ineffective and motivated by fear or xenophobia rather than sound policy
-It doesn't matter. What affects one affects all. We are our brothers keeper -It will not affect me directly, but that doesn't mean I don't have empathy for those it will affect.
-Some cannot leave the USA or enter the country.
-*un-American
-Well, they're certainly going to piss me off.
-They will affect all of us as he succeeds in angering and providing fodder for radical groups. It may discourage me from traveling abroad for fear of attacks by th
-Unclear. We don't know what his next steps are.
-Some of the families that my children go to school with are immigrants or first generation from those areas. Some of the faculty of Tulane, who are my neighbors, are as well.
-They don't and that doesn't matter.
-They will not affect me or anyone that I know. But that makes them no less immoral and/or disgusting!
-It affects the whole country. By closing our boarders, we make ourselves more vulnerable to attack. We are also weakening our ties with allies
-Will make one friend's job, who works with international students, much harder and stressful considering how much she cares for her students. Could also affect a friend with dual citizenship (Mexico/US), but he might be okay since he's not Muslim. Then again, he's also Mexican, so maybe not.
-My grad program has a lot of international students some of whom will be unable to visit their families
-It causes stress because it seems he is creating a combative environment in our country.
-Will make us safer
-I have immigrant friends whose lives are already affected-being taunted for being Muslim. Also family with green cards cannot leave us
-They don't affect me directly but it is possible my 1st generation Muslim coworker could be affected
-Whether or not everything ends up being enforced, he has incited fear in the Spanish-speaking community, undocumented or not. Working in social services, I have seen and felt the fear of deportation for a long time. Now, with the root of those fears being potentially empowered, people will be even less likely to seek out life-saving community services, like food stamps, police enforcement of non-immigration issues, health services, education compliance for their children, etc. This is the opposite of progress
-My daughter came home very upset when uninformed individuals purchasing tickets at LSUs box office kept asking her if she was a citizen because of her appearance. We are Asian American. It is incredibly unfortunate that people in the united states do not read FACTS or listen to credible news sources. The white house and all of those in congress who support it are advertising to terrorists and INVITING retaliation. This is a historical and psychological fact.
-Potentially devastating. Productive, contributing members of this community that were refused legal entry are also members of my family. I'll fight to my last breath to make sure they can stay here.
-Will affect several student friends and government colleagues in D.C. How, not sure yet!
-Participated in mentorship program last year working with Syrian refugee family & I know the grandparents were expected to arrive this year to live with them. I know everyone, the kids & grandkids will be heartbroken. They're a nice family. I'm sad for them. I loved know how much I loved my own grandma.
-President is mitigating danger for all Americans
-It affects a lot of my close friends. Friends whose parents and grandparents or themselves may be deported now.....
-It affects everyone. Marginalizing our fellow humans is degrading, and agitating extremists makes us less safe
-An assault on the Constitution impacts us all
-Not sure
-We are all going to be messed up
-Not applicable
- Alot
-Even if they don't affect me directly, the ethics of trumps policies affect a great deal of people who will be put in positions of great uncertainty and danger.
-Even if they don't affect me directly, the ethics of trumps policies affect a great deal of people who will be put in positions of great uncertainty and danger. Both here and abroad. He's no humanitarian, and neither are his supporters.
-It affect my direct peace of mind knowing this can happen to one... It can happen to all. I might b next or my bestfriend
-I know several people who could be deported under this policy.
3. What about these executive orders feel different from the policies of the Obama administration?
-The executive orders are obviously being issued with unprecedented frequency. They seem like the actions of someone wishing to rule as a king, not as a president.
-The fact that they based upon isolationist, extreme, and dangerous ideology that is not based in evidence or rooted in acceptance of a diversity of identities.
-Obama's were generally to help people. This is the opposite.
-Obama was was thoughtful and respectful of all people. Trump's "policies" are thoughtless and down right unconstitutional.
-Obama's executive orders came after unprecedented obstructionism from the republican congress. Donald has a legislature eager to work with him, and he's behaving like an autocrat, circumventing the democracy entirely.
-They feel dictatorial and not democratic in any way. He's barking orders at the country without regard for the constitution or judiciary
-They seem mean-spirited and no substantiated with facts
-Dump does not care about anyone and his policies are not good for anyone!!
-Obama's executive orders were socially & environmentally driven, to empower govt actions for the public health, or to look out for the interests of the common
-man. Trump's executive orders are clearly politically driven & are being done in the interests of big business, & not in the interests of working people.
-They feel, scary. As if to say, this is my world and you're just living in it. It's an affront to democracy. Obama tried to build a better America, Trump is turning us into a fascist nation. I feel like I'm trapped in a dystopian novel.
-They are bad...but it's important to note Obama deported more people than any previous president. Why weren't more people marching in the streets then? That concerns me.
-Obama was a good person
-These executive orders are reactionary and are aimed at boosting rich nationalists' agenda
-Impulsive, reckless, mean-spirited. -They are ham fisted and not properly vetted.
-They actually make more sense than Obama's executive orders.
My sister, a white, cis, get, middle class woman, is status to leave the country to go to an academic conference. My friend is dating a Middle Eastern man (in the US on a visa) and he can't go home to visit his family. Then there's the fact that the president has stated and enforced a rule that violates previous licenses and assurances made by the US gov't. That affects us all.
-They're Being fueled by the worst elements of the conservative movement. They're written by Steve Bannon, a straight up white nationalist.
-Brazen disregard of need to consult even fellow Republicans (or cabinet or inside circle) before starting enforcement
-I think Obama would have been a little more lenient.
-There seems to be no regard for process or ample time for review and/or fine tuning to account for smooth implementation.
-His were permanent, and not racist laden. People in the country are not stupid, there is no mistaken by the choice of countries, they were not where the terrorism came from and the ones that did come from he has business interests in.
-These are more offensive and exclusive.
-They feel completely erratic
-The hate and bigotry behind them.
-Live by the Executive Order, die by the Executive Order. We need Congress to function and work on bi-partisan solutions, so we avoid the fascist dictator-in-chief trap we're falling in to.
-President Obama was trying to do the best things he could for our country and it's diverse population. The current administration seems hell bent on isolating the country from the rest of the world and deliberately antagonizing it's citizens.
-The immigration issue seems to be the most visible and controversial executive order I've seen in my life time as for as I can remember it
-These executive orders are fundamentally un-American. He is a cruel man. Or has Mr Bannon in his ear telling him what to do. Look at the uproar around the world! Everyone is watching us and has nothing nice to say about the new president. It's an embarrassment.
-he doesn't want to help other people. only himself
-While I disagreed with many of Obama's actions as president I think his words showed that he realized America couldn't be safe unless we also worked to make the whole world safe. Trump seems to think we can just shut the door and fortify our borders and we'll be fine.
-Obama was reacting to a targeted attack with intel he had at the time. Orange twitler is just an outright xenophobic racist toddler.
-The blatant racism comes to mind......
-All presidents overuse executive power and Obama was no exception, but at least Trump's predecessors ran their shit through proofreading.
-No process, no system, no reason is being applied. -Everything. Obama could be trusted. DT is mentally ill.
-They aren't well planned or coordinated. They create chaos. They seem to disregard their effects on actual human lives.
-Why would I care about how they feel? They ARE different from the policies of the Obama Administration. The fact that these EOs were executed are proof -Why would I care about how they feel? They ARE different from the policies of the Obama Administration. The fact that these EOs were executed are proof positive of that fact.
-They are made with the intent to divide, rather than unite, our country.
-Trump is marginalizing people based on religion
-From what I understand the majority of the executive actions within the Obama administration (and they ramped up towards the end and were low in relation to recent past Presidents) were a reaction to a combative and obstructionist congress who were unwilling to work with him. Trump has the majority in the house and senate and still doesn't want to go through those legislative checks. At the same time the policies and actions he's set in motion don't reflect my values and what I feel are the true values of the majority of the American public.
-They seem punitive and decidedly against the public good in favor of special interests
-They don't seem inclusive
-Not as egregious as Obama's
-Oppressive, Bigotted, Xenophobic, Tyrannical
-Everything Obama did was scrutinized so any executive orders seemed more thoughtful and strategic. These seem punitive and rash. Additionally, the fact that the countries affected by Trump's business interests were omitted makes it seem unfair and suspicious
-Everything. Obama was not as proactive with immigration issues as many had hoped, but he still put through DACA and did not shut our borders to the most vulnerable populations. Obama's policies seemed more thought out and researched and planned, rather than the absurdities coming from trigger-happy Trump
-President Obama’s executive orders were well thought out and compassionate. The executive orders of trump are naive and malicious, shaped by an immature temperament. I do not understand how anyone with an IQ over 70 could have voted for such a candidate. trump is anatiobal embarrassment. -It's obvious, isn't it? Obama tried to foster an inclusive ideology. Drumpf set out to separate and divide us all. And he's doing exactly that.
-Uninformed and reckless.
-Reactionary, isolationist, paranoid, misguided - but all of that PLUS ignorant, ugly xenophobia & implemented with beaurocratic, short-sighted incompetence.
-Trump is acting on his campaign promises - Obama promised "change" and for most Americans, Obama's "change" was negative
-As far as I know, Obama was clear and open about his executive orders, and they oppressed no one.
-They feel less than totally thought through
-His were considered responses to problems the Congress refused to take up. Trump's are solutions to problems that can addressed in other ways
-Unexpected, clunky, not connected to rational world, more spiteful than useful
-He trying to ruin everything that Obama has done to make us great again smh
-They represent an agenda that seems premeditated and founded in an effort to further oppress
-Very targeted.. Parallel to the 'war on drugs'. Who did President Obama's administration try to oppress?
-My friends are more fearful
