In episode five, Lonnie calls Jonathan kid. Hopper notoriously also calls El kid. In this essay I will.

hi! im curious, what do you think nancy’s reaction would be if lonnie byers came back s5?
She's going to kill that mother fucker
In all seriousness though, personally the only way I see Lonnie coming back is to die. Like whether they finally have him save Jonathan like he was supposed to or get the Bob treatment in s2 I do not see that man leaving s5 alive.
Anyways, back to the matter at hand. I think that if the writers choose to involve Nancy and if she has any interaction with Lonnie she's going to be very skeptical bordering on hostile. I mean she openly called him an asshole in s2 and that was before her and Jonathan started dating. And she very much loves her boyfriend and knows that Lonnie is a major source of hurt for him (Me, openly manifesting protective Nancy Wheeler)
Beyond that, I think or hope that we're going to see her support/comfort Jonathan with whatever messy emotions he's dealing with.
But considering everything else that's happening. Having the scenario work out this way feels like a pipe-dream. Like to me at least, Jonathan finally feels integrated back into The Byers Family but this is a heavily Byers-centric storyline and I just do not know how they'd do it justice with everything else that needs to happen in s5

Does Lonnie ever become aware that Jonathan and Will have kids and try to meet them?
Hi Nonny,
Ok so, in my personal headcanon. Lonnie is aware that Jonathan is married to Nancy (bc Hawkins friends) But doesn't find out he that Jonathan has a daughter until circa 1999 or 2000 when Will off-handedly mentions Jordan while they're visiting Lonnie in the hospital (he's dying (as deserved) and Will wanted to go because Guilt/Regret/ETC and Jonathan went just to support Will) and Lonnie is curious but Jonathan (protective king) shuts that shit down so quick.
A lot of other things happen (minor fight adjacent with the byers bros, Hopper fishing intervention, Lonnie Dies) but the whole thing is what leads Will to ask Mike if he wants to adopt and then voila Matty

I sometimes hc that Lonnie talked Joyce into taking some drugs/pills that deteriorated her mental health so he could control and manipulate her easily and gaslight her, like you said. If that’s the case, Jonathan probably doesn’t know about it.
I personally don't think that's too far of a jump because we see him "encourage" her to drink when Will is "dead". Like considering we don't know the exact details of what happened, unfortunately nothing is off the table

What do you think about the play's reveal that Joyce was a theater kid and wanted to go to college for it?
Hi anon
I LOVE IT. Like my very first thought after finding out was deciding that once the apocalypse is over she can teach drama at Hawkins High (she'd be such an amazing teacher and Dustin is her little nepo baby main lead)
But I also love the way it ties Jonathan and Will's artistic traits back to Joyce. Like all three of them see the world through different but similar lens with art and photography and the stage that just so good to me.
And I love that it leaves room to tie Jonathan's love of books back to his mom like I can't think about it too much or I'll cry. (This is me reminding everyone for the 10k time that Jonathan's fave class is English lit (he shares it with Nancy but I digress he really just loves reading))
And then I also love that it hits on just the absolute trauma of Joyce being desperate to get out of Hawkins and live her dreams and be completely derailed. Like I know I've touched on this part and so many other writers have too but it's nice to see it in canon. And it gives me a little hope that they understand how important it is that Jonathan breaks the cycle.
