So far (partway into the Hueco Mundo arc, I skipped the Bount arc completely), "Bleach" seems to... shy away from interesting consequences for the issues it directly brings up. (Also, oh, man, all the filler varies in quality so much and it is BRUTAL on the pacing of the main storylines.)
Like, I think a lot about the Soul Society arc had a lot of missed potential in general, but I also thought the end of it is where things get genuinely exciting. The Gotei 13 has been repeatedly shown to be uncaring, incompetent, cruel, authoritarian, etc. and it seems like the characters are fighting against this hollow structure built on unsustainable tradition finally cracking under the weight of whatever unjust powers are obviously behind Rukia's execution and apparently Aizen's murder. Multiple captains start turning against each other for different reasons. It seems like Ichigo is just one small part of a much larger world.
And then Aizen is revealed and things still feel pretty delicious! What he did to Momo was REALLY fucked up and painful to watch in many ways. It's not unreasonable that Aizen's betrayal immediately halts a lot of ongoing fights. It makes sense that the Captain Commander doesn't want to turn around afterwards and start executing people for turning against him after losing three captains and all of Central 46. But... I would still expect there to be more lasting cracks and broken trust between the remaining members of the Gotei 13. The top four members of Squad 11 briefly turned against the Gotei essentially for funsies and yet characters like Toshiro and Rangiku don't seem to have any real resentment or suspicion over this casual disloyalty. I vaguely hope the psychological weight of and anger surrounding Aizen's fuckery is explored more later on, with more seriousness, but I can't trust this show not to essentially drop the issue completely.
I don't need this show to have Soul Society turn into some socialist / communist / anarchist utopia. But it is a downer to have a character as absolutely vile as Kurotsuchi thrown in my face during his fight with Ishida, knowing that not only does Kurotsuchi survive, but he's presumably continuing his utterly inhumane work in the Soul Society while everything else is happening. And the show seems to treat him as more of a joke mad scientist in the background than someone as or even more evil as any of the hollows. And I can't fully trust that this aspect of the Soul Society will ever be honestly confronted, even as simply a deeply tragic element representative of the Gotei's unchanging hypocrisy.
The Gotei 13 has an assassination squad! You don't have an assassination squad unless you're regularly killing people who are "undermining" your power, probably including lots of poor people in the outer districts trying to organize communities, based on actual history. These aspects are what made the soul reapers such effective and complicated antagonists in the Soul Society arc! And the flip to "yeah, they're Ichigo's allies now, mostly" was very sudden and kind of... underwhelming.
I don't care if parts of this story are tragic and this obviously broken system is left mostly unchanged at the end, it's just annoying when the story treats certain aspects as happy endings or just a funny joke, instead of delving more seriously and deliciously into just messed up everything is! How the soul reapers are unable to handle the burdens here!
From what I vaguely remember overhearing, Aizen ends up being a relatively flat villain, with relatively shallow goals and motivations regarding taking over the worlds and rising to godhood, which feels like missed potential when there's so much about this world that sucks! If Aizen had any honest motivations about making things better for any group of people, including hollows and their shitty deal in all this for example, then we might actually have a more interesting dialogue happening about the state of everything. I would like to see him honestly appealing to Orihime's kindness and sense of mercy in order to get her to join him. Her brother turned into a hollow! She has reasons to care about hollows potentially wanting to be more human again and living better afterlives than fighting forever in the sands. Maybe Aizen could just be lying about helping other people, but it would be more interesting to see this type of persuasion, and I'm already fucking sick of so much of Orihime's motivations focusing on helping Ichigo instead of her feeling torn about her tragically and traumatically dead brother who turned into a hollow.
(Side note: I don't fully understand why Aizen didn't just take over the Gotei 13. Between his hypnosis and his minions and his plots to take out rivals, he could have surely installed himself as the next Captain Commander eventually. Neither Ukitake (chronically ill) nor Kyouraku (relaxed drunkard) seem to honestly want the weight of that position. Aizen just seems to like drama, I guess. Fair enough.)
I've just reached the fight between Rukia and Aaronerio who is pretending to be Kaien, and it feels like the story is bringing up a genuinely cool idea only to throw it aside as a trick by a relatively boring hollow character. What IF Kaien had become a hollow? What IF Kaien had joined Aizen because he had some legitimate grief with Soul Society and the Gotei 13? I have vague memories about Aizen having Kaien killed and framing the Shiba Clan because Kaien was investigating him, but it's sooooo boring to have Aizen be at fault for EVERYTHING. The fallen lieutenant / almost captain from a disgraced noble family treated badly by Soul Society... turned into a hollow and forced to survive tragedy he wanted to kill him and unable to return to the Gotei 13 for help? Joining up with Aizen because he wants to take down the Soul Society and make a better world? That's COMPELLING. That's COMPLICATED. That's something that promises to get MESSY if Aizen is lying to Kaien and/or Kaien has genuinely lost his way and/or Kaien HAS A POINT. But the show brings it up only to bail on the concept.
Maybe some of the things I've talked about here will be brought up later on. I expect them to keep bringing up many of these issues, actually! I honestly just don't expect satisfying explorations and resolutions to anything, given what I've seen so far. They're just not going for the good stuff.
(I have this playing in the background while working on other stuff. If I put on a better anime, I would actually want to pay more attention to it.)

It’s 2022 and I think the reason why people still have a hard time gripping Gin’s character is because they can’t handle that he’s just an asshole. A complex asshole but just an asshole nonetheless .
His goals aren’t as well meaning as Kaname’s but they’re not as “evil” as Aizen’s
He wasn’t an amazing captain that inspired loyalty like Kenpachi but he also wasn’t a monster that used his men as pests like Mayuri
He doesn’t have as much anatomy in this story like the main villains but has way more than the main heroes,
He is in this awkward gray spot that no one can really pinpoint. He is obviously a bad guy who did horrible shit but it also hurts because it’s obvious it wasn’t always like this, since there had to be some goodness in him when he saved Rangiku from starvation.
Everything about him is so bittersweet. We will never get a novel continuation that explains him fully, we will never get pass cameos and he will only appear for maybe two flashback episodes in the TWBY adaptations.
Gin feels like a character that supposed to be in a different story and he knows it. What should have been a simple revenge plan got thrown out the window the moment he entered a conspiracy plot made by an overpowered man with an ego issue that he couldn’t get out of because the authorities around him were useless and he couldn’t see another option. He is basically shounen Hamlet.
Which makes him great for theories and analysis posts, but it’s fucking awful to see other fans paint him either as a tragic hero who just wanted love or an abusive freak who hurts everyone willy nilly since nothing exists to them outside of black and white

You got me curious so, top five Bleach villains?
Oh god fuck yes any excuse to talk about Bleach villains. I actually had a really tough time narrowing it to just my favorite five, and I already talked about Ulquiorra, so I'll leave him out of it this time around, despite loving him, and I'm also just focusing on Aizen and the Espada, leaving out Yhwach and the Sternritter for now, but anyways, yes yes yes
Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez
So surprising absolutely fucking no one, putting Grimmjow in that first spot. I love Grimm, and I think he's so neat because it can be... difficult, to have a villain who genuinely just relishes in violence and destruction without much else motivation. They can feel flat, or pointless and forced. But Grimmjow had so much personality, and beyond that, when he eventually develops, and finds a motivation in Ichigo, that's also really interesting! Also, after he gets his little "redemption arc" (if you can consider that, considering he technically didn't really change at all, just changed priorities lol), he gets even more fun to watch. So yeah, love Grimmjow
2. Sosuke Aizen
So like... you can't really talk about Bleach villains without talking about Aizen? A lot of people consider him one of the best anime villains, and yeah, I kind of have to agree. For one, he's fun because he's got the whole "mad scientist" thing going on, which is always neat. And I'm always gonna love any character whose entire motivation is killing/surpassing God. He's so overbearing, that he can even make the audience uncomfortable at times. He has no morals, and only cares about overtaking the natural order. He experimented on countless individuals (of course, most people think of the Visored, the arrancar, and Ichigo), but there were many nameless Shinigami that he just straight up murdered in his endeavors. I also think it is hilariously ironic that one of Aizen's main roles in the series was the foreshadowing of the Soul King, and a lot of what happened with Yhwach, because he would hate that. But yeah no, he's super interesting, and had a lot of cool dynamics with other characters. And god don't even get me started on how he counters Urahara, and serves as a reminder to him for what he can never become, because without a reminder, it's plausible Urahara would stray down the same path. Ah, parallels. So yeah no, Aizen is a very good villain.
3. Gin Ichimaru
So like... okay, there's some debate over whether Gin was really a villain or not. But in my opinion, he absolutely was. He did awful things for personal reasons. Was his ultimate goal to get close to Aizen and kill him? Sure. We can admire that conviction, but that doesn't change that he killed countless people, led them into traps to be experimented on, and put Rangiku through hell regarding him. And as sweet as the whole "I'm glad I apologized to you" thing was, it doesn't change what he did to her. Him being sorry or maybe, ultimately, having a good conviction doesn't change what he did. But I think that's what makes him such a good, tragic villain. He wanted to stop Aizen, so he became something terrible, and ultimately died without even being able to accomplish the goal he sacrificed everything for. He's a very good tragic character, and villain, and as important as they were to each other, it's kind of unfortunate that so many people reduce him to his relationship to Rangiku, and nothing more.
4. Tia Harribel
Listen, I can't really say more than just "Harribel is a badass bitch." The fact that she, canonically, is one of the only people who can keep Grimmjow in line (along with Nel) is so fucking good. Her want to protect her Fraccion was so interesting, especially considering she was meant to represent "sacrifice," but she could only do that so long as she was sacrificing herself. She didn't want anyone else to sacrifice themselves for her (as we saw with her Fraccion). Beyond that, I love that she took over as the ruler of Hueco Mundo after Aizen's defeat and forced all the other arrancar to submit to her and follow her lead. She was so badass. Also hot, and I am but a simple lesbian
5. Szayelporro Granz
Honestly, most of what sticks out to me about Szayel is his death. We were given another "mad scientist" character (which Bleach has no shortage of those, and I really have to thank it for that. As I mentioned above with Aizen and Urahara, it was very interesting how they all countered each other, and posed the question of "how far is too far?" regarding that kind of thing. Aizen and Urahara were the checks for each other, and Szayel and Mayuri proved to each other that there was no limit for them). Szayel was actively torturing Renji and Uryu before he died, and was having an amazing time doing it, so it's very easy to surmise that he did the same to others. He was horrible. But with the way Mayuri decided to kill him (AKA, slowing time down from Szayel's perspective, so that the single sword strike it took to kill him felt as if it last ten thousand years and left him begging for death and reprieve), it leaves the audience feeling almost... sick, and wondering if that was too much, even for a monster like Szayel. Are characters like Mayuri allowed to do whatever they want, with no repercussions, even to reprehensible people like Szayel? Idk, I just like that Szayel (and to be honest so many of the Bleach villains represent the darkest parts of the 'heroes' like with Aizen and Urahara that I mention above ^^ Grimmjow does that with Ichigo, Ulquiorra with Orihime, etc etc).
But yeah no, fucking adore the Bleach villains. The series has its flaws, but the villains certainly are not part of them. They're all so interesting, and genuinely serve their role of challenging the protagonists, not just in the war, but their ideals and what they stand for and what they represent, and show that the "heroes" are genuinely just one or two wrong moves from having the exact same thought processes as them. So yeah, love them. Love them so much.

*throws random message at you*
I have been re-reading the beginnings of red-verse this week, it gets better every time knowing how far Gin and Rangiku have come but also to just experience again what they started with, knowing that with hope and willingness to move forward any miserable existence can flourish (i might be a broken record saying that but it's true)
Anyway so after that little reminiscing i go back to tunglet.com and see your proposal post and (especially) the words "...a man no longer hunched from the weight of guilt or sorrow-" right after all that
GOT TO ME, MAN ;___;
Thanks as always for writing and sharing and punching me in the face with feels at times i enjoy that c:
out of character. HELLO YES, Ginran has me by the throat, I love them. It means a lot to me when people mention that they've been keeping up with my threads, let alone that they willingly seek them out again to reread. I'm truly so fucking lucky, you guys spoil me with validation like that -- something any writer would delight in hearing that people are reading their content.
And yes!!! that line. I often, even in canon-compliant verses, like Arrancar Arc etc. mention that Gin's posture is slumped, slouching/hunched, like -- he's just not kind to himself with the way he carries himself. But it's also a physical manifestation of how one feels, and in Redemption Verse, Gin feels heavy. He feels guilt and sorrow and regret and disgust at himself, how could he possibly EVER carry himself with pride? That sort of hopeless feeling that I'm sure anyone that's gone through a major depressive episode can relate to; the inability to see past it, the dreadful and suffocating feeling that this is it, this is what your life's going to be like, it won't ever get better -- etc. etc. and my Redverse's here to say 'wait, no' ... because even in the depths of that despair and in that defeat and near-death, wanting death, Gin has eventually (finally) reached a point in his life where he feels he can breathe. He can carry himself without feeling so heavy now. He has goals, he has plans, he has a future.
I really do hope my dumb fictional dead character's little journey can show / help people realize they have futures too, and that it isn't going to always be unbearably suffocating. You'll have happiness.
Anyways, I rambled. I appreciate this, and especially you, immensely!!!
#[ out of character ] masquerade; hide your face#[ verse: redemption ] i am healing by mistake; rome is also built on ruins#;w;#thank you so much.

Shipping GinRan is difficult because you weren’t given shit – just one-sided narratives and flashbacks – but on the bright side it means that being a GinRan shipper you get to write a ton of headcanons. And in the process, break your heart OVER and OVER again, because why the hell not? RIGHT.
So, lets dive into one of my favorite theories/headcanons, and I don’t know what spurred this thought and I realized I didn’t dive into this when I wrote a long winded, rambling, misconception meta some time back – but – I theorize that Gin ended things with Rangiku around the time of Isshin’s disappearance.
You’re probably saying, “What the fuck are you talking about Courtney” right about now but hear me out.
I find it rather interesting that the situation with “White” – the all black hollow of Aizen’s creation – happened in Naruki City, initially, a city which falls under the Tenth Division’s jurisdiction. If you’re one to believe the notion that everything was part of Aizen’s plan, then go ahead and stop reading because there’s no point in explaining (i.e. Aizen targeted this city because it was the Isshin’s jurisdiction, meaning Aizen is one hell of a matchmaker and also like Gossip Girl (which still makes more sense than DAN, CW’S GOSSIP GIRL)).
But if you’d like to hear more of my insane ramblings, continue reading now.
However, I’ve come to suspect that the choice may have been a swayed by one Gin Ichimaru.
At the very core of Gin’s reasonings for all that he did was this desire to protect and avenge Rangiku, to retrieve what was stolen from her by Aizen. With the events of White, we’re reaching End Game status. Plans are getting more and more finite every day, Aizen is getting closer and closer to making the definitive move – which means, the end is near for Gin and Rangiku’s relationship. Gin isn’t dumb, he makes some dumb ass decisions, but he’s considered a prodigy for a reason (i.e. murderous intent). Keeping Rangiku close would be a risky decision – she’d be a lose string, raising questions of Gin’s true intentions, how devoted he is to Aizen’s cause, does she know more than she should – it places a target on her back. Again, Gin’s primary goal is to get back what was taken from Rangiku, but it is also to keep her safe in the process. Like what would be the point if she ends up dead, right?
So, this is why I believe that prior to the events of “Everything but the Rain”, Gin has actually ended things with Rangiku in order to protect her but also to make her HATE HIM. Suddenly, a bunch of the Tenth division’s members in Naruki City are getting killed and Soul Society is doing jackshit about it (shocker), so Isshin Shiba comes into the mix, guns a blazin’ and gets taken out of the picture. This means that the Tenth is without a captain, they’re also potentially under some sort of suspicion because nothing says justice like Soul Society, meaning that the current vice-captain is going to be working a sort of “acting captain” role until they can promote a new captain. While this happens potentially shortly after, the Tenth isn’t going to be able to spare anymore time to investigate what happened to Isshin, those random murders of their division members or really anything else. More or less, they’re gonna keep their heads down and shut the hell up for the time being – until Hitsugaya gets his panties in a bunch over Gin and then it’s a god damn game of Clue but that’s another 20 years from there.
However, there’s more – Gin ending things around this time double strike to Rangiku, her captain disappears under mysterious circumstances, the love of her life/soul mate ends things – she isn’t having a good time. Gin is putting that separation between the two of them, in order to protect Rangiku but more so to harden her heart against him.
Not once during the events of Soul Society Arc does Rangiku back Gin, she questions his motives, she suspects him of nefarious actions, she’s willing to draw her blade against him, she follows Toshiro’s lead even when he questions Gin.
**Small side note, I have to mention is that one of the greatest and often overlooked connection between Toshiro and Rangiku throughout Soul Society and into Winter War is how often he checks in on her well-being without ever mentioning Gin specifically. He knows at the root of her heart she’s in a terrible situation, stuck between a rock and a hard place. Pitted against the man she loves and her duty. Two major points, when she stops Shinso and is injured in the process, he thanks her and shows concern about her. And then when the captains and vice captains show up for the battle of Karakura, he asks her if she’s prepared – this can be looked at in two fashions, for the battle ahead of them and that of seeing/facing Gin on opposite sides. BUT NOT THE MAIN POINT OF THIS RAMBLING.
Had they still been romantically connected everything he was doing would be coming as much more of a shock to her. Think about how Izuru, Momo and Hisagi all blindly followed their captains’ commands at this point, and they were merely professionally affiliated with them, devoted to them. You really don’t think someone who would be ROMANTICALLY INVOLVED would just be like “Oh you think my boyfriend killed another captain? Totally.”
Absolutely not.
So why is Rangiku like “what did this fucker do now” – BECAUSE HE’S ALREADY BROKEN HER FUCKING HEART.
YEARS AGO.
She’s had years to sit there and start to hate him – however much you can hate someone you love with every fiber of your being. But you know what they does, it makes you see them for who they really are. You see the flaws, you see the good, the bad, the ugly parts about them because the rose-colored glasses of being in love with them is gone. So Rangiku could see Gin being distrustful, Rangiku could accept that Gin was up to no good. But there’s also a part of her that doesn’t want to believe it either.
Because of course she still loves him.
[And of course, because I want to make things as emotionally devastating for my muse and love ANGST. They may have broken things off officially but if you don’t think they have random hook ups for twenty years….
Like Rangiku just getting an eggplant emoji at 1 AM from Gin and Rangiku just being like “well I’m about to make a terrible decision” but doing so anyways. You wanna know when Rangiku’s drinking problem got truly bad those twenty years because she keeps getting back with her ex.]
But this is also where Aizen’s remark about Gin having “killed” Rangiku after “having feelings for her” plays in – like OBVIOUSLY people knew there was something there. Everyone seemingly knows that Renji is smitten for Rukia, like striving for his chance to prove not only to Byakuya but to Rukia as well his worth and everything. So, you can’t tell me that there was something for Gin and Rangiku. People knew they had a past, I always liked to believe that it was one of those like worst kept secrets of Soul Society. Like everyone just knew that Rangiku was spoken for, everyone knew who her heart belonged to but at the same time neither of them was calling it anything more than friends.
But I digress, Aizen’s statement could be that there was current or former romantic feelings shared between the two of them, but I have always seen it as former feelings because why the fuck would Aizen be like “Oh Gin you’ve got a girlfriend when we’re trying to overthrow Soul Society, yeah that’s great” but if it was over and done with and something in the past, slight romantic notion that Gin ONCE CARED FOR HER, then cool boy, no harm, no foul. Bros before hoes and all that jazz.
I don’t know if I’ve even made my point.
Anyways.
I think that at some point prior to the start of the Bleach timeline, either around Isshin’s disappearance or slightly after/before – Gin ended things with Rangiku. Knowing that he had to make it easier on her when he went through with abandoning Soul Society and him. Knowing that it was going to break her heart, and his, but also knowing that there was a chance (and damn good one) that he wasn’t going to come back. There’s a reason he apologized when he did, was there hope he’d be successful of course, did he know the probability was shit – absolutely.
Plus, listen, my girl is feeling herself at the start of Soul Society, at her introduction. Gone is the going steady scarf around her neck, and she’s flaunting that body – if that isn’t a huge ass REVENGE BOD, FUCK YOU GIN ICHIMARU, I don’t know what it is.
#headcanon#Personal GinRan headcanon#Have I been listening to a LOT of T Swift lately?#Yes. Yes I have.#This ship makes me wanna drink#I love it so much and yet hate it#I mean I got plenty of ships for Ran#but like all aboard the SS Angst GinRan

Working off of (and just being a nerd getting excited over) your post about uncalled Kido, Gin uses Sentan Hakuja twice without ever saying it out loud / no incantation. Once, to transport him and Aizen to Rukia during that arc, and a second time to grab Rangiku and carry her away from Aizen, though that instance is blink-and-you-miss-it details in the manga, even less obvious in the anime.
There's also the matter of Hakufuku with Rangiku. I'm still wondering how the fuck Gin managed to hide her reiatsu from Aizen's perception.
Though Gin's listed as a Kido Practitioner on the Bleach Wiki -- simply because there's no other instances of him using Kido -- I think it's notable that the only times he has used Kido are instances in which he never says a word to indicate he's casting one. Kinda goes hand-in-hand with the unspoken Shikai moments he has, too, where Shinso's invoked after its already been shot. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that, or if I've maybe missed something? I dunno, I always love your meta posts and the worldbuilding and research you pour into your writing is a personal goal of mine to achieve. I also just got all excited like a dog when I saw this latest post because hEY MY MUSE'S DONE THAT HEY COOL --
Anyways, don't mind me, have a great day.
I think the idea that Gin is way more skilled at Kidō than he lets on is pretty substantiated and believable. From how Kenpachi's (lack of) proficiency in Hohō and Kendō is treated as an exception, it'd make sense that others be highly proficient in Kidō.
With regard to Hakufuku, we also see Aizen being unable to see into the barrier which Isshin puts up to shield himself and Ichigo in Fake Karakura, so I could envisage Gin doing something similar that Aizen simply can't see through—Aizen is very clearly treated as finite in his abilities and other people routinely confound his senses and outperform his expectations. (He was, for example, unprepared for Shunkō, had no idea what was up with post-Dangai Ichigo, and so on.)
I think that uncalled casting makes particular sense for Gin given his focus on quick strikes without warning, so I could easily believe it was something he particularly focused on. With regard to his Shikai, it's not clear if casting in advance is a thing or not, or how the declaration needs to be timed vis-à-vis the effect. Like for example, I believe Ichigo is often charging up Getsuga Tenshō before calling and firing it? Gin's Shikai might work similarly if so...
(I'm going on about this stuff because how Shunkō works is weird and I'm trying to build up a base understanding before addressing it.)
Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read that and send in your thoughts! Knowing this stuff is useful and appreciated is always nice to hear!

❝ It went 'bout as well as y'could expect. ❞ The meeting with Izuru.
Gin was speaking calmly of it, as though detached from it (and he was, to an extent, floating by the memory so to speak) but the indicator that he felt upset was clear as day: he was not facing her. Instead, the soon-to-be-and-essentially-already reinstated captain was busying himself by the dim light at the small writing desk in their shared quarters, writing -- rather, trying to write a portion of paperwork he brought home with him. His left hand's work was still rather sloppy, but it'd make do for this.
She just got home, he didn't want to bombard her with bad news. Yet... Izuru was her friend, too. So Gin supposed he'd not do any good hiding the fact that -- ❝ He cried in front of me, 'n I thought 'bout huggin' him, but that'd just do more harm than good, wouldn't it've? Since I'm the one who made'im cry. ❞ A pause from that remaining hand, it lingered with a trailing brushstroke, then stalled entirely -- hovering above the page, eventually relenting to be placed neatly aside.
His shoulders sagged a little, and he still refused to turn and look at her. That head of silver tilted to line his gaze out the window, then tipped upwards a breath, as though quietly assessing the state of the upper windowpane. Or trying not to cry.
❝ I'm signin' some transfer papers for him, they're almost done, all he'll haveta do is sign his parts at th' bottom. But... I'm thinkin' it might seem an awful lot like I'm runnin' from him, from th' consequences of hurtin' his trust like that. If I just send'im away, he'll keep hurtin' won't he? ❞
A sigh, soft, a bit shaky... ❝ --but y'should've seen him, Rangiku. Heard him. I broke him. Ain't nothin' I can do about it, whatever I do'll be wrong. He'll keep hurtin' no matter what th' fuck I do, I figure I could give'im the option to never see my face again at th' very least. ❞
And that was it, wasn't it? That was what he could do, and it was shit at best. That verbal confirmation, the knot in his stomach swelling up his throat like bile, a bad drink, and a punch all mixed together. Eyes squeezed tight, fingers coiling into a clenched fist balled up the material of his robes at his lap, and he set his jaw in a vice grip as though biting something back. And Gin bowed his head -- kept away from her, shoulders shaking subtly, and silently refused to cry.
What a mess. And all for nothing, too, this suffering, that was perhaps the most stinging part of it all. The pain he inflicted would linger in the aftermath regardless of whether or not he even succeeded in his goal. All Gin could do was sit here and scribble some dumb words on a dumb piece of paper so his previous lieutenant could maybe not ever have to look at his pathetic face ever again. An ambitious, loyal, intelligent, strong, and cunning warrior and Gin went and ruined him. The sass, the comedic back and forth between them, the reliability of that flare of gold at his back, at his side, thrown away for the sake of downing Aizen Sousuke for under a minute on some cold concrete street in Karakura Town.
Got to hold the Hoyoku for, what, two or three minutes before it was snatched away and the limb ripped off too for good measure? Rangiku, sobbing over him. What the fuck was the point of this all, again?
❝ ... and I know -- ❞ a rough swallow, a quieter voice now. ❝ -- it's awfully selfish of me, gettin' upset about it all. Makin' it about me 'n shit. I'm wallowin' here and it's pathetic. But I don't ... -- ❞ I don't know what to do, Rangiku.
He couldn't speak any further, and just let that sentence trail alongside another whispered, unspoken thing, a wailing that throbbed at his temples now, made it hard to shake himself back to focus.
I can't help but think I should've died, Rangiku.
A deep breath shuddered its way out of him and Gin kept gazing at that window, out it, beyond it -- but he didn't see it, didn't see anything really. Couldn't see anything. Nothing else, besides this gut-wrenching feeling.
Just a pained series of failures.
𝐁𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐈𝐊𝐔 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐂𝐑𝐎𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐃 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐄, 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐔𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐀𝐋𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐘 𝐒𝐄𝐓. Darkness snuffed out any and all remaining light that lingered along the horizon until the street lights kicked on, illuminating her path back to Gin. With a tired hum, Rangiku took off her sandals and cast them to the side of the door. Her new scarf ( made by none other than the man situated at a small writing desk in the corner of their living quarters ) was the next to go --- she laid it gently across the top of their couch as she made herself comfortable in his presence.
Rangiku took note of Gin’s strained posture. Mmm … something was wrong. She was more than capable of reading the room ----- not to mention that, by now, she knew Gin like the back of her hand. How many storms had they weathered? She had seen him in so many different frames of mind, so many different chapters of his life. If he had been able to curl up into himself, she was sure that he would’ve done so by now.
Before she could speak, Gin was breaking the silence.
Rangiku’s lips parted, as though to offer a reply --- but she was quick to refrain from speaking, if only to let him finish. She swallowed down her worries as she tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear, fingers falling away from her face slowly but surely, only to linger upon the edge of the couch. As she listened, her heart ached … though she wasn’t surprised by Izuru’s reaction to their meeting.
He didn’t know the full story. The reason why Gin had taken such a treacherous, destructive path away from them all. And to be fair ( or perhaps it was unfair, to keep Izuru from the truth ) --- Rangiku didn’t really want him to know. She was still making peace with the fact that a good portion of her soul had been ripped away from her as a child; a revelation that had been revealed through Gin’s confession. They were still healing from all that had happened … So were either of them really surprised that Izuru had not been too keen on accepting Gin back into his life?
It was safe to say that both Gin and Rangiku had expected this … BUT THAT DIDN’T MAKE IT ANY EASIER. Rangiku’s expression softened as Gin spoke of Izuru crying ----- and as his own voice faded a bit, his emotions getting the better of him. She watched as his shoulders sagged … as he refused to look at her.
This exchange alone was proof of how hard Gin was trying to let her in. To be vulnerable, with her. TO REBUILD THEIR SHATTERED BOND. How painful it must’ve been, to reveal this side of himself to her. Rangiku’s heart swelled in her chest, wishing more than anything that she could take all of this pain away from him. To go through these trials and tribulations instead, so that he didn’t have to continually suffer one defeat after another. Slowly, she made her way over to him … one foot in front of the other, again and again, until she was situated behind his sullen frame. She reached for his shoulder, gently ---- fingers grazing the fabric of his haori…
❝ Gin, ❞ she began, her own voice quiet … matching his own intensity ( or lack thereof. ) ❝ ...It’s not selfish to be upset about this. You care for Izuru … you always have. He might’ve been your Lieutenant, but he was also a friend to you, hm? ❞ Rangiku then crouched down, wanting to be closer to eye level with him, despite Gin’s desperate need to obscure his face from her view. ❝ Hey, look at me, ❞ she whispered, her hand leaving his shoulder only to rest upon a cheek, fingers moving in slow, comforting strokes.
❝ ----You didn’t break him. He’s just still in the process of healing. And he needs you. I know how badly he needs you right now, Gin --- even if he doesn’t outright say it. He’s angry, and he’s hurt … and he wants to push you away, which is why, more than anything, you need to stay right where you are. Support him, Gin. Be there for him. Let him cry it out, without having to be scared that this is only temporary … that you’ll leave again, or hurt him again. ❞
Rangiku offered Gin a smile, trying desperately to look into his eyes. Oh, how she wanted to take all of the hurt away. The pad of her thumb brushed along the corner of his mouth before she pressed a kiss to the skin there. And then, another kiss -- this one, to his cheek.
❝ Don’t transfer him, Gin. Not yet. Don’t give up on him … healing isn’t linear, and it might take a long time --- but he’ll come around. Just like I did, ❞ she said with a gentle smile, her hand falling away from his face only to rest upon his knee.

attractiveness and morality - or how people think with their metaphorical dicks instead of their brains
people are fucking horny over the villain characters in bleach, i mean specifically the male ones because as we know the female villains are nonexistent lol. but it’s not hard to see how attractive the male characters are even though i just refuse to acknowledge men unless i have too.
however, there is an issue with how we perceive the characters based on how attractive they actually are, more along the lines of how people will excuse any offensive behavior based on physical attractiveness
the convicts oops i mean examples
there are a few examples i can name like popular male villains that people lose their shit over.
aizen is the big one, where despite the crimes he has committed, such as emotional manipulation, attempting to wipe out a whole town, murders, and hollowfying his colleagues and getting away with it. yet, he is sympathized, especially over Tousen who tends to be more villainized by the fandom or at least held in a less favorable regard.
Gin is in the same boat, with the emotional manipulation and general emotional harm inflicted on multiple people but is sympathizes because uwu he loves rangiku even though he did cause her harm, simply because he betrayed her and hurt her friends and colleagues.
Ulquiorra is another very notable one, since he also has that whole manipulation thing although not as blatant as aizen. he did kidnap a minor and abuse her (isolating her, threatens her and her friends, and it is used to control her/keep her in captivity).
Grimmjow is another example, and its especially notable because he’s just very very violent. And he never apologizes or feels remorse for it, despite generally terrorizing Ichigo and co.
Nn*itra is especially reprehensible, he is overtly sexist, as most of his violent acts are targeted at women and uh. actively saying he hates women. creepy (implied sexual) behavior towards a minor as well.
Szayel as well, he has no regard for his minions, and then theres whatever he did to nemu what the fuck that was so fucked what the fuck.
notably, these men are also wildly popular among the fandom. they will have the most fanart, most discussion, most fics i guess.
why do horny fucks sympathize with them
people empathize with people they see as attractive, and i mean conventional attractiveness. note how none of this empathy extends to people who do not fall in the category as attractive (often pale side eyes) hunk/twink. does zommari get that attention? yammy? why are they not held to the same standard as say szayel/gin or grimmjow. yammy is also angry and prone to violence, much like grimmjow.
what sets them apart is that they are not deemed sexually attractive so therefore, their flaws become easier to ignore and they arent sympathized as much. of course, kubo probably did inadvertently create this problem, seeing as theres a discrepancy in creating a complex character. another example of this is the comparison between byakuya and omaeda. of course, they are obviously different characters, byakuya has more development and screentime. however they are similar in that they are wealthy, in high positions of power, and look down on people they deem inferior for a variety of reasons. byakuya, however, is conventionally attractive and also has screentime. that being said there is an underlying issue of fatphobia as well in reducing omaeda to a comic relief character.
people empathize with attractive people or at least favor them. “People more strongly desire to form or maintain bonds with physically attractive partners relative to unattractive partners—an attractiveness-based affiliation effect (Path B). In turn, through projection, attractive partners are perceived to possess attributes that are compatible with these goals, which largely center on their reciprocation of interest in establishing or maintaining close relationships (Path C).” this is indicated by the halo effect, “the tendency for positive impressions of a person, company, brand or product in one area to positively influence one's opinion or feelings in other areas“ which also applies to beauty and how attractiveness impacts how one recognizes a person. for example, an attractive person will often be associated with positive traits such as compassion, intelligence, and other desirable traits. it could be things like how appearing well groomed heightens others perception of you, how you will appear responsible and capable.
and this does extend to the villains. aizen is viewed as a tragic villain who fights for injustice or something like that. gin is a tragic antihero i think that did everything for his true love tm. ulquiorra is a tragic villain who does not understand love. grimmjow is grimmjow. nn*itra is somehow tragic with an inferiority complex lmao take that fucking L bug boyyy loser. and szayel... exists. see how fanon interprets these characters despite none of them having any remorse for what they have done. the fandom leaps to provide a justification or rational for their actions no matter how abhorrent they are. yammy and zommari are still held as villains, yet they are not sympathized with in the slightest nor are beloved to that extent. compare the sexualization of these men and the amount of sympathy garnered from the fandom.
why this matters
its no secret that in online spaces especially, offenders are romanticized or at least sympathized. take the true crime community for example, in which case male serial killers were romanticized despite the atrocities they have committed. and this is linked to the “bad boy” trope that is prevalent in romance novels, where a troubled or dangerous man seems like a desirable partner despite stalking their love interest among other crimes. of course, this also gets a bad rep from wattpad ya books and just ya books in general.
there are examples of this trope. i have vaguely alluded to edward from twilight. there is also the cause of that white guy from 50 shades of gray, which is most known for romanticizing abuse but the audience cannot help but be allured by his white guyness or something/ there is the netflix film “you” where a man stalks a women but it is seen as romantic and people find themselves attracted to joe despite his violence. literally this type of behavior:
there’s ted bundy film and how people raved about how hot he was despite him being an absolute monster and having real victims whos family have to live with the fact that people find their family member’s killer hot. it is this in its absolute extreme, where people are fully aware of their crimes but still find sympathy or attraction towards a criminal. in this case it is the gradual romanticization of violence that may creep up. i cannot assuredly claim that there is a strong correlation between finding villains attractive and romanticizing violence but there can be some indication of this.
and this view of how attractiveness can bleed into criminal court. of course, there are other factors such as gender, sexuality, age of judges and the inherent corruption within the legal system. here is a list of studies about this topic because christ i am not copy and pasting all of that go read it yourself. but the main takeway is that in mock jurors and other public opinion, the more attractive defendants accused of crimes have less severe sentences or even less sentences (however this is not seen as frequently in judges). it shows that there is a level of sympathy, leniency, or more compassion towards attractive people.
Conclusion
the point being made here is that attractiveness affects how one sees a person. yes, it is possible to find villains attractive, however the bias of physical attractiveness and actual character can potentially be dangerous if left unchecked. this is not exactly a call to action or a psa because a) i am fully aware that this fandom is horny to the point of brainrot and that it is incurable and b) this is just an analysis on behavior in the fandom. and i am aware that the studies are cishet in nature and are not indicative of the fandom as a whole seeing as there are a fair amount of lgbt people in this fandom. that being said, my point still stands.
#hi everyone its me blaze zanguntsu back at it again with a whole essay#ramble tag#dare i tag this in the bleach tag#bleach#i am going to invite so much discourse onto my blog with this wont i

So, it’s time for some more re-read updates bc I’m incapable of not dumping my thots kthx.
The thing is, seeing this entire scene play out makes me even more depression that this was never taken full circle in terms of Rukia and Ichigo’s connection to Kaien being revealed to them.
Like, you’re telling me glutton for punishment Rukia Kuchiki wouldn’t have felt even MORE guilt after finding out Kaien was related to Ichigo? That she robbed one of the most important people in her life of having KAIEN to help him?
And her confronting Ichigo with that and telling him abit about Kaien and he’s just like ‘I can tell you learned a lot from him, he sounds just like you’ and she just can not handle that and breaks down because holy shit? She really has passed on the heart Kaien gave her to Ichigo and she’s kept his memory alive all this time. His heart is in her and it’s made it’s way to Ichigo THROUGH her.
Like 😔 where was Rukia’s final catharsis moment and taking Ichigo to the Shibas, alive. Where was her not leaving this time, not carrying the blood of a teacher but the shoulder of a student. She isn’t the reason a Shiba is dead now. She’s the reason one is alive.
You think Gin and Luppi had a lot of meaningful conversations about uuuuh…..hot bods. Like part of me thinks Luppi is one of the only Arrancar who could stand Gin and also that Gin does not mean this bc he saw those tentacles on Rangiku.
Personally I think Gin encouraging Luppi to attack the human world to ‘assert his new rank’ or whatever is an awfully good way to off some strong Arrancar from Aizen’s army especially since he would KNOW about sealing procedures among captains/lieutenants.
Gin’s happy ending is you dying, Ulquiorra, isn’t that nice? 💕
I love how he contradicts himself instantly. Why are you treating your brother’s wounds if he’s just a box and you only cared about the data? Why did you single out the guy who killed him?
Science men in Bleach are positively PHOBIC to looking like they have meaningful connections.
Szayelaporro “I’m too mature to care about things that aren’t me, myself, and my science” Granz stfu
This confuses me. Like, WHERE is that good score counting towards??? Sure as fuck not the kido corps. Like, this further lends to my theory that lots of students are getting offed for not being strong enough in the academy because going back to the rukongai isn’t an option.
No way this academy is getting full classes of new students every single year and yet they only have a handful of thousands in the gotei 13. Especially considering that for, presumably, the original run of Bleach, it was canon that soul society was THE ONLY soul society, for all human dead. Which is honestly less confusing than every country having their own bc like…..borders and shit have changed so many times just in the past 1000 years, how do you even go about deciding which humans go to which soul society (and like are there multiple versions of Hueco Mundo? Of Hell? It’s too much)
This scene hits, but it would be even more devastating with a fade in and out of that month they spent together just saying Kubo it’s okay to give us content of two women talking about not Ichigo.
Also, I love that Rukia still finds a way to think about Kaien’s lesson and apply it to herself in a negative way. Like you can not get a bad grade in dying, ma’am. You’re doing your best.
Also Orihime seeing Rukia almost die is ❤️ very angst much horror thank you.
This entire line of thought was so unnecessary and held up exactly 0 percent. It wasn’t even needed for Ichigo to go after Aizen bc like…..he already took Orihime???? Why make him a little bit more mad about her reputation?
You can not tell me that Aizen, who has been playing 4D chess for hundreds of years, was like ‘yeah it’ll be very convincing that this teenage girl decided to jump to my ship after I had numerous people she loved almost killed and my goal is definitely to have Soul Society not help Ichigo and co under that premise. I’m not planning anything, Soul Society and definitely not moving up the war love u xoxoxo.’
Yamamoto could have just straight up said ‘I’m not sacrificing my soldiers for one human girl but gl with Aizen bitch.’ Because that’s what it really comes down to. Yamamoto is trying to fake out Aizen and seem on lockdown/like he’s waiting until Winter—the whole Orihime Is Traitor thing makes very little sense in that regard.
I will say that Hueco Mundo arc really upped the casual violence and body horror in Bleach as a whole so yet another win for this arc.
Also I love how Grimmjow is one of the villains in Bleach that even the most ‘problematic characters haters’ will simp for when this is his baseline when it comes to just annoyance. He is so hot he transcends dumb fandom discourse. This man is causally annoyed so he’s slowly and purposefully breaking Lollys leg so she fully understands before he does it. The ultimate vindictive bitch.
I know that she probably is freaked out about her leg coming back because it’s a bat shit amount of power involved in doing that, but I think she’s infinitely more horrified that Orihime not only healed her, but does so without a word, almost devoid of emotion.
She freely cusses Grimmjow out, tries to barter with him, tries to persuade him, and generally feels comfortable running her mouth because she knows violence is happening regardless. She is afraid and doesn’t want it to happen but she knows the song and dance.
But she hits Orihime with a lot of fear behind it, barely able to say more than get away. And despite that, plus the beating (AND BROKEN FUCKING PINKIE just hanging there bent) Orihime was given, Lolly is given her leg back. And she says nothing. She doesn’t ask for anything. Or want anything.
And in a place with a violent ridden caste system, I imagine that would be a lot. How do you reconcile your everyday life and how you treat everyone around you and how they treat you when you’re faced with a person who doesn’t adhere to those rules. How do you face the realization that some human girl can give you back a leg and bring back your only friend and do it not because you deserve it, but because you’re alive and need help and that’s all the reason needed. Kindness can be a curse. Cornered dogs bite and then ache for the hand upon their head again.
Renji does this twice in this arc so far, this being the first time. This man is like ‘I may not be the strongest but I can take second degree burns and falling buildings like a fucking champ and that’s about to be your problem’. You can’t tell me he doesn’t play chicken with Ikkaku by standing way too close to fireworks after they’re lit and seeing who’s less fucked up after. Sake of course included.
Also Szayelaporro and Uryu are like rival theater kids in this fight trying to bang out the best one liner and pose. Too bad Uryu wasted time trying to run away instead of pulling out his sewing kit to outdo Szayelaporro’s costume change.
Actually, I’m Frankenstein, not Frankenstein’s monster :/

we finished the bleach anime. it was alright, the ending definitely suffered from the problems every shounen anime inherently does towards the end. i hear the manga actually continues to escalate after this, i might be interested in seeing what that looks like since i hear the anime is coming back. im pretty disappointed in a couple things though. we didnt get to see nel again, which is just utter bullshit. after she transformed, she had her little fight and Lost. and then we never saw her again. i consider that a plot hole to be honest. to my knowledge, we didnt even see orihime heal her. she was a fantastic and fun character, she needed more time to be her self. her little self, if you ask me. another thing, they killed gin like right after the first time he ever did anything. he was such an empty character and they never explained him. why would a kid decide to do what he did? what happened to make rangiku love him so much? this dude basically threw his whole life in the trash to pursue one single goal that he could have achieved if he just opened up to the other soul reapers. i cant decide if this was always the plan for his character, or if kubo just forgot about him so long he decided to make him a secret good guy. like, oh this bad guy has never done anything bad... i guess he's a good guy now? he never got any resolution to his character even though the twist was actually pretty cool and it could have been awesome if they bothered to explore it for an episode or two. but they really didnt, it was just a shallow twist even though i sorta saw it coming. i was always defending him to my mom cause he rly never did anything. she hated him cause he was a douche but you have to be kind of a dick to roll with aizen so... anyway the visoreds really fucking suck. we hardly even saw any of them release their zanpaktou, and even though they were incredibly cool characters they never did anything. hiyori was an amazing character, with a lot of personality and great jokes. who never did anything. she was literally around only so she could job to ichigo once or twice in training, and fail at every single thing she ever does. shinji was the most developed visored, and he didnt do anything. his release was cool but we never saw his bankai. when they revealed that he was a captain, it was a really big surprise! but he never ever measured up to the best of the current captains. kenpachi would destroy him. byakuya would destroy him. he might be able to win against toshiro or the badger guy, but i kind of doubt it. he has to have a bankai to be a captain but he never even tried to use it on aizen, who he has a fucking super grudge against. the dude ruined his life and permanently changed his friends. he got him sentenced to death! but shinji couldnt do anything, anything at all against aizen. to be honest, he seemed a lot weaker than mashiro who was an actual joke character. then, and i consider this another plot hole, they game kaname a resurreccion. the fact that he, as a visored, has a bankai and a resurreccion strongly implies that EVERY visored has one. including ichigo himself. and shinji, hiyori, mashiro, all of the visored crew. so the fact that we never see any of the visoreds bankai OR resurreccion..
why even have them fight? we have interesting characters who dont fight in this show, why even bother? i dont get it. the coolest and best character in bleach, in the whole show, turned out to be ikkaku madarame. who initially appeared to be a fuckup only meant for ichigo to waste an episode or two on. the guy has an interesting set of priciples, he has a distinct goal and not to mention a really cool underused bankai. we only saw it once, but it was amazing and it really suits him. he was such a cool guy and he doesnt get to do anything either. he had 1 real fight against an arrancar who to my knowledge wasnt an espada. but hiyori? nothing. she fought a couple fractiones and couldnt even beat any of those alone. not even 1 of them. those fractiones probably had better backstory than she did. urahara was really mysterious through most of the show. im not sure if i really like his motives more than i liked him as a mysterious force pushing the plot forward for unknowable reasons. yoruichi was never ever explained, like at all. her motive was just that she wanted to help urahara. like i get rescuing him from his death sentence, i get wanting to help the visoreds. but she left everything for him? she really never got to be her own person after that. she was a shallow character. and another super power character who never lost, but doesnt have a fucking bankai! what!!! if she or urahara whipped out their bankai the show would have just been over. seriously they always could have beaten aizen, up until he became a monster by fusing with the hogyoku. even then probably! they NEVER lost a single fight!!! how am i supposed to believe they couldnt play a bigger role, or even solve the problem themselves? i dont even think i ever saw them seriously injured. they're invincible, over a hundred years old, definitely have bankais but never use them... but they spend all of their time manipulating people into doing their work for them.

I know you said before that if Hisana lived in the KHR world, you'd classify her as either a Sky or a Sun, but I've always seen her as a Sky first and foremost (although I agree that if she had a secondary flame type, it would definitely be Sun). Out of curiosity, what flame types would you give other WTL characters? Who would you choose to be her guardians?
Tbh the more I write Hisana, the more Sky-like she becomes to me. After all, her most powerful ability, what truly sets her apart and makes her special, isn’t her ability to heal. It’s her ability to draw people in, to give them a home and a place to belong.
As for Guardians....
Byakuya is probably the easiest. He’s a Cloud if I’ve ever seen one-- he protects those he cares about from a distance, his zanpakuto’s ability is propagation, he defends what he views as his with a single-minded, ruthless determination (whether that’s his honor or his family), and he lets nothing stand in the way of his goals.
Renji is also pretty easy, I’d definitely pick him as her Storm. Ridiculously protective and even more loyal, he’s the type to destroy any threat to his family or die trying.
For Mist, I’d pick Gin. Secrets, lies, loyalty-status ‘who knows’-- he’s got Mist written all over him.
Rain, probably Kaien? Both for his shikai ability and because his personality just strikes me as very...Rain-like? Calm and calculated in battle, super chill around his friends, doesn’t get worked up easily, very easy to talk to, takes a lot to anger him but once you do, you’re fucked...yeah, he’s a Rain.
For Sun, I’d pick Rangiku. Doesn’t matter if you need a shoulder to cry on or someone to back you up in battle, she’ll always be there to support you.
I had the hardest time with Rukia and coming up with a flame type for her, but out of all of them, Lightning seems to fit the most. Because Rukia is tough, and out of all the flame types, Lightning is toughest. And she’s a shield, first and foremost, and it’s part of her very nature to draw damage to herself and away from those more vulnerable. So honestly...yeah. I see Rukia as Hisana’s Lightning.

List of Bleach characters that deserve to kill Aiz*n
Orihime - I know she's a pacifist, and I respect that, but she should have destroyed Aiz*n like she had originally wanted. Remember when Aiz*n told her to smile? She could have obliterated him on the spot and I would support her along with her friends.
Tosen - He vowed revenge and justice in the name of his murdered friend and became the one thing he promised to destroy which is so fucking disappointing. Nothing says justice like working with a man who hired a thirteen-year-old to murder said man's enemies. Kubo dropped so many hints Tosen could be Aiz*n's downfall and he didn't do anything at the end??? The fuck??? And his arc was so fucking ableist??? Like what the actual fuck was that final design. Literally nothing anyone can say could justify that.
Gin - His Bankai is literally called "God killing Spear". Aiz*n's goal was to become a God. It's right fucking there, come on, Kubo.
Ichigo - Ichigo getting a chance to kill Aiz*n but getting him captured and imprisoned instead is a cowardly fucking move, Kubo. Talk about anticlimactic.
Unohana - No other reason than wanting a lesbian to go feral. She deserves some extra bloodshed. As a treat.
Yachiru - There isn't any logical explanation, I just think she could actually do it. Someone could tell her Aiz*n is trying to ban sweets and she'll kill him on sight.
Rangiku - RANGIKU WAS SHOWN TO BE ASSAULTED BY THREE GROWN MEN AS A CHILD, HAD A PIECE OF HER SOUL TAKEN FROM HER, LOST HER CHILDHOOD FRIEND AND YOU NEVER GAVE HER ANYTHING BACK? OR EVEN LET HER HAVE A FUCKING BANKAI? SOME SWEET VENGEANCE AND AN EXPLANATION IS THE LEAST SHE DESERVES, KUBO.
Halibel - She should have pulled "hmm, whatcha say" and stabbed him in return. Her death was so fucking stupid, oh my GOD. It has been years and I still don’t understand it.
Stark - He was tired and wanted to go back to bed. Aiz*n didn't let him so Stark shot him. The end!
#Bleach#Orihime Inoue#Tousen Kaname#Gin Ichimaru#Ichigo Kurosaki#Retsu Unohana#Yachiru Kusajishi#Rangiku Matsumoto#Tier Halibel#Coyote Starrk#I hate knowing how this will get like ten notes at best#i bet it wouldn't even show up in the tags#edit: changed some of the wording because I wrote this at 2 am and it needed editing

Rangiku, Soi Ton or Rukia
Fuck, Marry, Get Drunk Meme | Accepting!
“Ehhhh, as fun as the meme is, I really don’t wanna be married to a straight girl my whole life. So I’ll marry Soi fon. Plus like, who wouldn’t wanna marry her? Have you SEEN how cute she is? Life goals, amirite? Aywho.
Like stated previously, I can get Drunk with Rangiku whenever. And well, I kinda wanna see what sex with her would be like anyway.
Which leaves Rukia, and honestly it’s not even a pidgeonhole. I really would like to see how she can let loose with a few pints down her pipe. She’s always so dang strict. So honestly these three fit pretty perfectly into the slots.”

While I do enjoy watching the show with ya, Jackie, I gotta absolutely rip into this one. I’m sorry, but I just gotta----you’ve created this monster, just remember that.
Antoni, Tan, Karamo, Bobby, and Jonathan all start the episode off as recklessly as usual: driving a massive SUV whilst filming / distracted. Ah, yes. There they go, summarizing their target’s entire life into a cutesy little paragraph complete with the most stereotypical gay reactions known sprinkled in for max fab 5ifying magic.
A merciful readmore for length.
They touch on the fact that this guy they’ve been called for to help has recently suffered a traumatic life-changing event, fallen into a deep depression, but is “trying to get back up on his feet and into the workplace again” ( cue the ‘yas queen’ from the back ) for focus, each respective person’s theme would be mentioned----like how Gin hasn’t been eating much of anything lately, so finding something simple and easy but filling, healthy, to make would be Antoni’s goal. Tan’s job would be to try and get Gin to stop wearing baggy, formless clothes, and to stop hiding his form, his injury, via layers. Karamo would need to talk to Gin, and get Gin to talk to him, about the Winter War, Aizen, and finding a purpose for himself again by becoming reinstated as a captain. Bobby would have to tackle with Gin’s lack of materialism and find a way to make his shared space with Rangiku feel... actually shared, rather than solely hers. Jonathan would be faced with the complete lack of self-care Gin practices, plus the fact that this boy needs to trim his fucking bangs.
When they arrive, Gin turns around and walks out.
No omdevgrbfhvj because we’re assuming this is a forced-upon interaction of godmodding standards, he’s barred from leaving. But they don’t get to hug, they cannot say hi sweetie, and absolutely do not touch him at all.
Bobby is busy looking through their home as Rangiku talks about everything but them as a couple, Gin, herself, or her feelings. Bobby makes a comment about how everything decorating the shared space seems to have a feminine tone, insinuating everything belongs to Rangiku and nothing of Gin’s seems to be around. He’s correct, and she’s unbothered by that as she tags along. Maybe she’s also following them around to casually discard leftover sake bottles. Gin’s looming in the background. Don’t look at him.
Tan is going through Gin’s clothes. There are duplicates of the same black uniform, as well as a few different yukata and loungewear. Gin’s a traditionalist, he states, but he’s also wearing clothing two sizes too large for him as Tan continues to make note of the outfits. Somewhere along the line, Tan has Jonathan help him show the audience how ridiculously long Gin’s sleeves are by placing a gi onto the man, who dramatically sways and pushes them up in an attempted runway-ready fashion.
Antoni is in the kitchen and is appalled by whatever Rangiku made the other night lingering in the sink area. He acts like he’s never seen a dirty pan coated in chocolate noodles stuck to the surface before. Rangiku lies and says Gin made that. They talk briefly about his drop in appetite, Rangiku painfully maintaining a bubbly dismissive disposition, and ends with a chipper “we go out a lot, so that’s nice - and he’s eating again!” which makes Antoni talk about how food can help revitalize a person who’s depressed. Pan to Gin. Gin has yet to say a single thing, still emptily standing in the corner of the entryway.
Karamo asks Rangiku to talk about Gin. The episode stops because she literally cannot just do that on command. How do people just talk about hard things on camera to a stranger like this. Rangiku starts to speak. The audience as well as the entire cast black out for about 5 minutes, and resume as normal. Maybe Rangiku talked, but no one remembers. Karamo tries to talk to Gin about what he discussed with Rangiku prior, but can’t remember. He stares soulfully, pained, passionate, and lovingly into Gin’s hidden eyes. Gin stares back. They stand together, silent, for 5 more minutes of airtime. Emotional music plays during the duration of their exchange. Karamo nods, Gin nods, and they part ways.
Jonathan, still wearing Gin’s oversized robes, strolls over and starts to investigate Gin’s hair. He states that the hair is healthy but thin and in need of some gorgeous styling to drop the flimsy flat look. He reaches and messes with Gin’s hair, and invites himself to move Gin around accordingly. Gin releases a small brief burst of killing intent for the breach. Jonathan calls him sexy for it. Things have backfired terribly. And now Jonathan is flirting with him, but Gin can’t sulk forever, so he flirts back instead. Just once. One comment. Nobody expects it. Not even Jonathan. He decides Gin should have an undercut like the quote-unquote bad boy that he is.
Bobby rearranges things around the house, making choices that symbolize unity and two individual people living together, rather than Rangiku’s stuff sprawled around and Gin owning merely clothes. Tan wants Gin to wear a nice jacket with a french-tucked shirt but Gin untucks it before his very eyes. Tan insists that Gin should not strive to be formless, but his cries fall on deaf ears. They touch on Gin’s missing arm, how to best work with the disability without blatantly hiding it, but Gin’s too busy whining about properly-fitted shirts. Tan solves every wardrobe struggle with formal attire, which isn’t necessarily wrong, and Gin tolerates it only because he knows it will impress Rangiku. Antoni makes a dish that resembles their dinners out that’s easy to make without so much salt and grease, etc. and Jonathan tries to put product in Gin’s hair. Gin backflips into the abyss before his fingertips can graze a single silver strand.
The end result? Gin gets a haircut and a bunch of human-world clothes, Rangiku gets a bunch of guys to clean up and redecorate her place.
