MLB AU x SONADOW

What's the result?

A chaotic AU with the most unbearable slow burn of all ages.

Yep, we're doing this. Or at least we will talk about it, because I need to share it with someone. Anyone.

Warning: contains spoilers of MLB movie

So ever since the new movie of MLB came out -btw you should go see it, it's pretty light-hearted and adorable- my head is spinning and thinking what would happen if our two hedgehogs had been instead on the main characters' place, but with their own personalities.

Sonic would take Marinette's role, I haven't thought of a backstory yet, -and no he is not shy and without confidence, he is sly and cocky as ever- but he lives with Tails -when he isn't on one of his trips- and together they attend Chaos High on Green Hill -I'm still planning the settings and the names in my head-

On the other hand, Shadow takes Adrien's role, but unlike him, he's actually moving from his home in Station Square to go live with his best friend, Rouge, for a while, who miraculously lives in Green Hill as the others. And surprise, surprise, Gerald is alive! Does that mean that he is Hawk Moth and that Maria is Emily? To be honest, I'm still debating if Gerald is the real villain, because I want to include GUN in the game as well, but oh man, stuff like that takes time.

For sure though Maria takes Emily's place.

There's a high possibility though that she isn't dead. Just pretty sick. For now at least ;) *cough* I meant, she will be fine!

Tikal is the guardian so she takes the place of Master Fu and there are no kwamies. Yes, that's right. Instead of kwamies -do I even spell that right?- we have chaos, thus and why Tikal is the guardian of them. And instead of having a plethora of them there are only seven of them, each of them bearing a chaos emerald.

So skipping into the plot we have first day of a new year with everyone knowing everyone and Shadow being the new transfer student, who clings to Rouge's side and his personal robotic assistant Omega -yeah we're bringing him because we stan Team Dark!-

Introductions are made and oops, the two hedgies make a brief eye contact while at class. Neither of them shows any interest. Ouch I know, but wait, we have track. That's right. And where Sonic believes that his only rival is Jet here comes Shadow to steal the spotlight with his AIR SHOES, even if Sonic deems them rocket shoes. And just like that the blue blur finally pays attention to the stoic new student. Not as if he's fallen in love, but he is intrigued by him! I mean, have you seen any other running as fast as him?

Note; there are no super powers in this world, but Tails still is the smartest of the group, lol. That's just his nature. However he doesn't know that he can fly with his second tail. That's something that he'll discover later.

Anyways moving on, Hawk Moth -or however I'll remain the character later, because I'm not keeping those names for copyright issues- suddenly awakens the purple emerald, thus and the chao with it that have been lost in the fight that have broke between the echidna race and Tikal is forced to call upon the chaos of the dark blue and red chaos emeralds, named -that's actually a good question, I'm debating on Azul and Shade, but that's just basic? Or nah- Anyways, both chaos don't go well with each other and decide like in the movie to select on their own their champions.

Long story short, because there's no way I'm revealing everything, Azul ends up with Sonic and Shade with Shadow and they both activate their powers -after a lot of convincing by both ends, I know surprise for a specific blue hedgehog but sus- I was thinking that the could say, “Chaos Activate” with their respective chao on the start of the sentence, but working on it. Oh they are on their super forms, when powers activated, because I couldn't think of something better and thus their original abilities are unlocked, a.k.a Sonic's speed and Shadow's manipulation over chaos energy.

So the heroes meet while trying to discover where the corrupted with dark chaos energy is -yep, no akumas either- and they do not get along. Shadow having thought of it more, had already picked a name for his secret identity, named -I'm bad at names, but I was thinking something to do with Chaos, like Chaos Controller, but that's just too big so I'll think of something better-. Sonic soon realises that he still haven't thought of his own name, but then the corrupted arrives and interrupts them.

So they fight, they banter, Sonic haves a panic attack, Shadow almost loses his emerald, but they work it out. But like in the series they forget to cleanse the dark chaos energy something that BOTH Sonic and Shadow are able to do with the power of the chaos emerald.

They both find their way after that, working together, learning from their mistakes. Surprisingly, it is Shadow that finds a name for Sonic. Without even thinking of it too hard. He just calls him something and Sonic likes it so he keeps it.

And here's the moment that you all waited for.

The love matter.

Which takes a LOT OF TIME to finally come.

So to put it simple.

Sonic loves Shadow.

Shadow loves Super Sonic.

-this is where you all start clapping and fangirling-

There I said it. You can all just toy with the idea now, if you haven't thought of this already. And oh they both get refused by the other like the movie. But first is Shadow who declines Sonic and then Super Sonic who declines Super Shadow. Why? Because one thing led to another and Sonic accidentally reveals his like to the other hedgehog. Shadow of course is taken aback, because he didn't expect Sonic to like him. Not that Sonic would like to change anything in their current relationship, because it's perfect as it is. He just wishes to know if Shadow would like to keep it like that and after graduation. Shadow, however, likes Super Sonic and thus declines Sonic. Of course he doesn't express this in a harsh manner. He is considerate of the other's feelings. But Sonic of course is hurting. So imagine the SAME time in the evening to getting asked by Super Shadow, if he would like for their relationship to grow into something more. Sonic just can't and he leaves immediately like he'd done a prior hours ago.

Of course I'm not telling you how they get together or how they overcome this, because where's the fun in that? Don't know, if I'll make it into a fic this idea yet, but feel free to send me asks, if you have any questions.

Furthermore you can even take this idea and turn it into something unique. Just be sure to let me know so I can keep an eye out of it. I wouldn't mind reading an AU like this or seeing art of it.

After reblogging everything from that beautiful wonderful artist I think I should make a fic or multiple about how Sonic went from being touch adverse and insecure/uncomfortable with romantically seen forms of expression to just not caring, especially in regards to Shadow

Like, obviously, in my fic series, I hope, everyone understands nothing is romantic or sexual between them, but I think I need to express that more since I keep making fics with intimacy that can be read that way...

But Shadow's tongue was bitter as he pulled Sonic closer, trapping him against the white of his chest as if he knew of the fear of inevitable distance. He pried Sonic's mouth open, dipping Sonic's head as if he were downing every bit of metaphorical blood that poured from the blue blur's fretting heart.

Hunger of the Very Special Kind

But it's starving and wants nothing more than to consume Shadow the Hedgehog piece by piece like a full-course meal. To take and take and take until there is nothing but them as one. One being, one creature, one as dawn breaks and the earth splits into two. When time washes away, all that is left is their singularity, their hunger, and their neverending want. One in life as they are one in death.

Bleeding Heart

He wished he could tear open his chest and hear the cracking of his ribs as they split through skin and fur at the force of his nimble, precise fingers rocketing through. Feel the blood bubble up his throat and pour out of him in damnation, painting his fur as red as his quills, his eyes. The aged, crusted, dried blood under his nails won't remove themselves, no matter how hard he scrubs away the memory. To feel the way he slides his fingers inside to rest on his heart, the thing that feeds into the sickness that has never stopped ailing him since his creation.

Dancing Beneath The Vultures

"You live in a way I never knew anyone could or love in ways I never thought possible." Amy cups Sonic's face, rubbing the peach fur to reveal his hidden scars and tilting his chin to meet her firm, honest gaze. "I'm here because I never want you to lose yourself into becoming just a hero. Sonic The Hedgehog is more than a hero; he isn't perfect and sure isn't supposed to please everyone, no matter how hard he wants to, just so he can save the world over and over again. Because his heart is so much bigger than he'll ever admit, bigger than the world he loves like he's been one with it since he was born."

Who Do You Lay With At Night?

Shadow was created from the same stardust as Sonic. They are magnetized to one another and drawn closer and closer by the atoms that have known each other from times that neither could ever hope to remember.

I'm still written in his arm / Six years between the thing he wants

A tentative hand gently presses at the gnarly wound, lingering when Shadow tenses, muzzle wrinkling up to bare his fangs at the pang. Sonic's other hand comes up, sliding against the back of Shadow's hand, still gripping his face and gently tugging it. Shadow obeys and lets go. Allowing Sonic to lean forward to take the shredded cloth into his mouth and pull, undressing him until his hand is bare between them.

"Why?" Shadow whispers. Sonic leans back, pressing his bare hand to Shadow's chest, on his white, fluffy fur, right over his heart. "You."

There's Blood Between My Knees

It's so bloody, it's ruthless and disgusting, and Shadow wants more of it, wants to be torn apart with all the determination Sonic gives when he peels away muscle, breaks veins, and faces Shadow's ribs head-on. The ebony hedgehog is sure that if he were capable of dying, he wouldn't mind dying like this, with the night's chilled air brushing into his insides, Sonic's hot breath ghosting over parts that no one else is supossed to see, to hold. But Sonic does; he bows his beautiful head, and kisses bloodied ribs. Every single one. Like they're precious, something irreplaceable, something to be worshipped, regarded and admired.

You Tell Me I'm A Star, But Look At You

Sonic can only watch as his bare hand is held in another's, and Shadow's tenderness and attention squeeze at his heart and pull at his lungs. It's so kind, caring, bordering sweet when so much of their relationship is messy and harsh. But, in truth, Sonic doesn't mind when he sees his other become lost in the details of his hand as if they were galaxies, uncharted maps. 

Would You Take My Heart

Would Shadow slip his heart from his chest like Sonic has? With the beating organ in his sharp, deadly mouth and swallow it down whole? Would their hearts lay together in the same body, forever near and never apart, or would they bow their heads into each other's chest cavity and curl inside it. Melding together into something incomprehensible.

Understand, I Cannot Be Like You

"I can't! I don't feel anything!" Sonic hits his chest between his twin scars, trembling as years of repressed anguish explode out of the ache of his heart. "I get it! It's wrong! It's not normal! But I'm not normal, Amy, and I thought you'd get that! I thought that you'd trust me!"

It was tradition, purpose, pride, and perfect judgment. Romance was not a choice; it was duty.

Show Me Those Pretty White Jaws

Stars glitter in his quills as he grins, his laughter weakening Shadow's knees as the moon leans close. A hand cradles Shadow's cheek, loving and warm, before resting upon his chin. Worn yet soft fingers tilt his head up, taking up the limited space between them, between Shadow and this effortless being that demands his very essence, pulling him towards that ever-burning yearning.

But you come back with gravity / And when I call, you come home

The star answered back with a broken scream that rang solely in Sonic's ears and had the hero leaping into the forest and running towards it before its crash into the island rattled the ground. Leaving Sonic fighting to keep his footing, eyes refusing to drift away from where he'd last seen the star.  And he felt it, felt the way his body screamed in time with the smoke that filled the sky, the way he could only feel the anguish, the heartbreak, the air on his back, the searing of the sun, the never-ending pain that threatened to tear him apart over and over and over—

Sticks Sense

Sonic grasps Tails' cheek, pressing their foreheads together again, closing his eyes as he lets Tails hold their hand to his fluffy chest. The moment feels oddly familiar, and Sonic can't help but feel the same honest determination he had with Shadow many days ago. When he had held his body close and confined in him over the death of a person that Sonic still didn't know beyond a name and that so much of Sonic's actions reflected her own, hurting the ebony hedgehog to be on the receiving end of. And just like Sonic understood Shadow's pain then, he understood Tails'.

I turned around, there was nothing there / Yeah, I guess the end is here

"Listen to me, okay?" She brushes a hand through quills that instinctively relax under her hand to keep her safe. There are tears, and Shadow feels blinded by all the red when he only wants to memorize the blue of her dress. "You were made to protect the world, to help people. You were made to be something. But that doesn't mean that is all you'll ever be. No matter what anyone tells you, Shadow the Hedgehog, you are your own person. You live how you want, be who you want. You are great because you exist and mean something to me. And you'll mean something to the people you'll meet after me."

FU!Sonadow AU Shadow The Hedgehog Ref Sheet

Finally finished the first ref sheet for my Sonic Boom AU! Some little fun facts are that the tips of Shadow's gloves are uncovered because his claws would puncture and break through the gloves leather. It's part of why Sonic seems to fixate on the obsidian color during some moments or even know the color at all.

My favorite little detail I haven't really done much with yet is that Shadow's chest fur connects to his front. I lovingly call this his "bush." I adore the way people give Shadow their own personal characteristics but nothing tops my favorite characteristic of giving him more fluffy fur that translates into a little happy trail. He deserves to be a fluffy lil guy all over!

On top of the additional fluff he has freckles littering his cheeks and hips! It translates onto his fur but if you were to shave his fur down you'd see that the skin underneath has freckles much more prominently! The shorter the fur the more they're visible.

[IMAGE ID: The pain is so palpable when Sonic realizes that Amy was starting to “like” him in that way. I’ve experience this before and it’s really not fun, especially when it’s a friend : ((.

I appreciate that Amy didn’t force Sonic to explain to her the way that he works, and instead sought out external reliable sources in order to put the responsibility of educating herself to be able to communicate with her friend.

And I freaking love that it was a struggle for them to become evenly balenced in their friendship again. With having so many things systematically ingrained in her, of course some things would slip through the cracks in her healing process of unlearning harmful societal expectations. I like that she wasn’t able to get it immediately and that her and Sonic’s communication was messy and unbalenced. It makes the story feel more realistic and the relationship they have in the future much more natural and earned./END ID]

I actually really want to make an entire post centered around this comment because it makes me not only SO happy, but also so EXCITED to see people just GET IT!

I know Understand, I Cannot Be Like You isn't a big hit since it doesn't focus around two queer boy hedgehogs and is told in very small short memories, but it means so much to me. It's the first peak into why Amy and Sonic are so close, why she appears so much in his life and why he goes to her so often.

They represent something a lot of A-Spec people at times lack:

Someone in their lives who loves them enough to take the time to understand them and change their ingrained biases.

Amy in my AU has a lot of trauma and is a product of her town, but it isn't an excuse and it honestly is a stepping stone into her healing to have Sonic in her life, embodying everything she was taught was wrong or didn't exist.

Their relationship is so big and meaningful to the story, I would argue just as much as Shadow and Sonic's despite being the MAIN focus of the entire AU. The same applying to Tails, though in a different area completely.

They hold so many experiences, just as this wonderful commenter has gone through, that are real and have weight in real life relationships. And it's not only so INSANE to write it and see people relate to it and understand EXACTLY where it comes from and what it means, but the fact that it succeeds in telling the silent story between two characters too? One that'll be revealed and read more in depth about later? God! I would kiss some of you on the mouth about it!

This was supposed to be the original scene for Sticks Sense where Amy reads for Sonic. It was supposed to be it's own fic, but I decided it wouldn't flow well.

Considering how Amy was raised and has grown, it really shouldn't have been a surprise to Sonic when she sits him down on a plush, deep-pink cushion. The sound of her shuffling cards mixes familiarly with the scent of Sandalwood that flows freely from lit incense. The warmth of her home is never lost on Sonic; she had just begun baking when he arrived, the oven leaving the rest of the homey place toasty.

"I don't really think--"

"Sonic, I love you, but you suck at explaining yourself verbally, give this a chance to help you, and maybe we don't have to fumble through hours of you trying to piece your words together." Amy raises a pointed brow at the island hero, a challenging smirk painting her features in a perfect concoction to try and shut up Sonic's possible over-exaggerated complaining.

The hedgehog pouts, crossing his arms as he taps his finger against his forearm to a particular song he can't get out of his head. "I just don't have a connection with your cards like you do; I don't get how what you usually do will work on me."

"It's not just about the cards, Sonic," Amy explains, knocking on them before blowing on them. "It's about the connection between chaos and our world. When we open ourselves up to it, we can better use chaos to figure ourselves and others out." She quickly shuffles the cards again, smiling affectionately at her handmade crafts. "You have to keep an open mind and heart. You're the only one in the world born with chaos freely living inside of you. I think that out of everyone, the cards will understand you better than anyone else."

Sonic looks down at the gold and maroon cards as they glimmer in the sunlight that suddenly seems to cast itself over them. The sun has finally broken free from the thick clouds that have been blanketing the sky for days. Sonic can't help but smile gently at the situation.

Amy takes a deep breath, "We'll start out simple to orient everything." She spreads the cards out in an arch in front of her. Sonic watches curiously as her eyes land on a card on the far right; she elegantly flips it, revealing a card with Sonic's silhouette collecting rings with an outstretched hand and a determined expression. "Good, everything is right then."

"Mind explaining?" Sonic prods, leaning in close to take a look at his card. He had forgotten Amy had crafted each one to depict those in her life she adored and knew.

"I just needed to make sure the cards were focused on you, so I asked if the cards knew who we were helping today," Amy shrugs, shuffling the cards again. Sonic nods his head in new-found interest. "Now we can get into why you're here." The pink hedgehog knocks and blows on the cards once more before closing her eyes and speaking clearly into the space between them. "What kind of problem is Sonic facing that he can't express?"

The cards are spread once more, and Sonic tilts his head as Amy sweeps her eyes over the cards, collecting three to flip in front of her in the order by which they were chosen.

"Queen of Water and 8 of Lightening are both drawn down while Hero is drawn up, that's..." Amy glances up at Sonic with a starting concern, leaving Sonic shifting in his seat, ears twitching back. "The cards are saying that in the past, you've been very self-sacrificing," She gently pushes the Queen of Water towards Sonic, watching him carefully. "It's a lot, knowing you, and because of that," Amy brushes the next two cards, "You presently need to work on accepting parts of yourself you've damaged with all that self-sacrificing you've done in the past to forge ahead."

Amy looks back down to the cards, brows knitting in thought. "Basically, they're saying that your problem is one you've always struggled with, and you need to confront it to solve it." The hedgehog glances up at Sonic, "What is something you've struggled with for as long as you can remember?"

Sonic scratches at his cheek, his leg bouncing. "Well..."

He lived an inconsequential life, where nothing dared tie itself to him but the few who could handle his never-ending spur of adrenaline and sass.

How long could Sonic hold onto something like Shadow? How long until those eyes looked into Sonic and saw something that no longer drew them closer but permanently pushed them apart?

...what about his bond with Shadow that made it so hard to share? Manifest into something that refuses to leave his throat, clogging it to the point he suffocates each and every time he tries to speak of it to anyone who actually matters to him?

Sonic places his hands into upturned quills, loving the sharp pricks that effortlessly loosen under his touch. "I'm scared that the moment I allow myself to show how different I am, the people I care about most will leave."

Amy unbuttons Sonic's collar, tugging the dress shirt more open, fixing it neatly onto his shoulders so it looks relaxed but not sloppy. "I go to these events because I know how hard they are for you. To be cooped up and to be so unlike yourself. If it wasn't for the connections to help more people...I know you wouldn't be anywhere near this place."

"...he isn't perfect and sure isn't supposed to please everyone, no matter how hard he wants to, just so he can save the world over and over again..."

Sonic rubs at his face, running a hand through his quills, scoffing at his stupidity. "This whole time, I was so scared you'd no longer want me...That you'd find me disgusting. Because what kind of a person likes being torn apart and fought against? Especially when it's you."

Sonic cringes, gritting his teeth as his quills bristle.

"Sonic?"

The blue blur closes his eyes, fighting back the instinct to swallow down his thoughts and feelings. He had to do this.

He could do it. He could say it aloud.

"You won't lose me, okay?"

"I'm different." The words come out monotone, unfeeling, and so unlike Sonic that he can't help but flinch, feeling like his own words hurt him.

Amy studies him before understanding, which fills her expression so deeply that Sonic looks away. Instead, he focuses on Amy's hands working on her craft.

"In what way specifically?"

"I-I..."

The cards lay themselves out again.

"Do you need help saying it?"

Sonic nods, and Amy pulls a card.

A distorted Eggman logo meets Sonic's eyes, and he can't help but feel his quills rise further in discomfort as Amy speaks softly. "Monstrum Machina drawn upside down," she smiles sadly. Rules are stifling to you, taking your freedom and chaining you into bitter isolation." A warm gaze coaxes Sonic's eyes to his best friend's. "You've always struggled to fit into what's expected of you from a really young age, and despite everything you do to go against it, it's gotten a hold of you, hasn't it?"

"I don't get how," The hero grits through his teeth, anger bubbling up so obviously at himself that Amy can't help but take his elbow and squeeze it comfortingly. "I don't care what people think. I genuinely don't."

"That doesn't mean you don't care about how thoughts affect the people around you or how caring about people opens up different vulnerabilities." Amy politely places her cards to the side, sliding herself across the floor to Sonic's side, easily taking his weight as he leans into her presence. "You're a private person despite your extroverted nature and carefree lifestyle. Especially when you've been shunned for so long, it's why you've learned to close certain people out of your life while welcoming others in, like our friends." She combs her fingers through Sonic's quills, calming them. "To let people in means to care about what they think and feel. Maybe you don't care about the world's view of you outside what can grant you opportunities to help, but that doesn't mean a part of you doesn't care about what we think. We matter to you; we're what you fight for, and you proudly say that in and out of battle. But when that battle is reflected inward, you could freak out, throwing you off because you're not used to it. What do you think?"

Sonic huffs, squeezing his arms to avoid trancing the scars under his gloves, "It still doesn't make any sense."

"Does it really, or do you think it shouldn't happen because you're Sonic? Because Sonic can't care. If he does, is he risking himself getting hurt again?" Amy pokes his cheek, and Sonic lightly swats it away.

"I hate how Tails was right about you therapizing me." The half-hearted joke isn't lost on Amy.

"And you know it's exactly what you need, or you never would have come over, Buster," She points out knowingly. Sonic pokes his tongue out before sitting up, hugging himself as he turns his back to his friend.

"Basically, my whole problem is that I'm scared of what my friends think of me?"

"Well, it sounds like it." She gives Sonic a curious look. "What's going on that has you so scared we'll look down on you for it?"

Sonic glances over his shoulder at Amy, chewing the inside of his cheek, claws pricking through the fabric of his gloves as he hugs himself tighter.
