Splatoon 3 Fashion Challenge - Week 76:

And we're back! I hope you all enjoyed the holidays and are feeling refreshed and inspired, because we're kicking off another year of fashion challenges.

Over here in Sweden we had a lot of snow this week, a welcome sight after there being almost none whatsoever where I live through all of December. Just in time for Frosty Fest, too! There's only one theme that makes sense in this situation:

Winter Wear! (2025 edition)

Special Rule: Baby, it's cold outside. Grab your big coats and wooly hats, because we're bundling up. You can use any gear you like, but you gotta dress for the winter season.

Rules:

Put together an outfit of any kind that you feel matches this week’s theme. Be sure to give it a name, as well!

Send it to me via ask or submission, please don’t add it to a reblog, that makes it very easy to miss! Also, please make it clear that it is a submission for the challenge and not just a regular submission.

Only one outfit per person! You can submit multiple photos of that single outfit, though.

Please include the gear you picked in the submission. It makes my life just a touch easier!  

The deadline for outfit submissions is 10 PM UTC on Tuesday!

Personal thoughts:

I'm glad this came out well, I lost motivation in the middle but I still got it done in time for the finale of Frosty Fest. The most difficult part was definitely the hair shape (that little front part bang chunk that leads into the braid is so weirdly shaped) and the hair sucker in particular. Second hardest was shading; I have very little practice with it, but the slightly wonky shading still makes it look much better than no shading. I'm most proud of the hands and little buddy!

The animation was last minute, since I rechecked my initial sketch at the end and wanted to add back in the closed eyes. If I changed one thing, it would probably be tweaking the color picks and shading to make sure little buddy doesn't blend in to the chest too much.

Comparison of 2025 vs 2024:

I've made a lot of improvement this year! The old art still looks good--I like the hair suckers and the squeezer especially--but the new art has a better grasp on depth and following the in-game anatomy. I was hoping to showcase whether I'd gotten faster at drawing too, but I spent about 15 hours on this one, over double the time of the old art (and it was spread over two weeks, compared to one day).

Maybe next year I'll redraw one of these exactly to better measure the time difference, or maybe I'll do a fullbody and see how long that takes. Either way, I'm excited to see if I can keep drawing daily for another year and how my art will keep changing!
