It’s official, I hit 100 followers! :D thank you all so much for all of the love and support- it means so much to me 🩷 my silly little summer hobby is growing up *wipes tears* they grow up so fast.

I’ve been saying for a while that I would do a little q&a/ “get to know me” type of thing once hitting 100, so here it is! Thank you to everybody who sent me questions! I wasn’t sent too many (which is totally fine lmao) so I’ll just share a little bit about myself with each one :)

How have you been?

I’ve been great! Stressed due to school, but great :) I love doing this- being able to write and share it with all of you- so it’s a nice escape from my workload.

What's you're favorite subject?

When I was in high school, it was definitely art classes. I actually almost went to an art school!

What's your major (only if you feel comfortable ofc!)

I’m a journalism major! I spend lots of my free time writing. Good thing I love it so much lol. I’m in my second year of college, and I truly don’t think I would’ve rediscovered my love for writing if it weren’t for my major

What's your favourite non-kpop genre of music?

I’m a big fan of alternative, “pop punk,” pop, and boy bands. Some of my favorite artists outside of kpop are I DON’T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME, Fall Out Boy, Harry Styles, 🩷Big Time Rush🩷, Ricky Montgomery, Rina Sawayama, and I’ve recently been getting back into Dodie Clark

footnote: I’ve been wanting to write a “Xdinary Heroes as Big Time Rush songs” for months, but I have no clue what that fandom overlap looks like? Idk that might be one I write just for the hell of it

What are some other kpop groups I’m in to?

I listen to a lot of different groups (my kpop playlist is LONG) but my other favorite groups alongside xh are Stray Kids, Seventeen, Shinee, and Ateez!

When it comes to xh, I’ve been a fan since the announcement of Hello, World! I wanted to try to get into kpop right before Happy Death Day came out, but I was too intimidated. I followed a few groups I wanted to get into, but nothing ever came from them. Then, through the magic of ✨Instagram algorithm✨ I found a clip of Jooyeon from the Happy Death Day music video. I watched the mv, thought they seemed cool, followed them on Instagram and then completely forgot about it! That summer, a friend of mine introduced me to skz, and the algorithm did it’s thing again and xh was back in my feed announcing Hello, World! They were the first group I loved a really got into- and now the rest is history!

If you could be a patch of grass anywhere in the world, where would you want to be?

I love this question??? I’m thinking the Swiss Alps. I just feel like the Alps would be so beautiful. Like, imagine being a blade of grass on a hillside of the Alps? Idk it just seems amazing

Do you watch any anime?

I do! My favorite anime is Hunter x Hunter :) I’m terrible at watching new shows and movies, so I’ve only seen a handful of them. The most recent one I watched was My Happy Marriage. I don’t typically do romance animes, but I LOVED this one! Definitely check it out if you’re looking for something new

01-29 → No confirmed updates. There was a rumor that Gong Jun began work for his new drama, reportedly titled An Elephant That Can Fly (会飞的大象), about China’s car manufacturing industry in the 1980s. [source]

01-30 → The Instagram posted ten photos, three of which are selfies of “Zhang Zhehan”.

01-31 → L’Oreal posted a promotional video spoken by Gong Jun, also announcing a livestream on 02-03.

→ A commercial for Let’s Farm (种地吧), an idol farming reality show premiering on 02-04, revealed that Gong Jun would be making a guest appearance. The show’s Weibo account posted six gifs of the shots of him from the commercial. [meme source]

02-03 → L’Oreal posted a photo ad featuring Gong Jun, advertising their livestream later that day.

→ Gong Jun posted the earlier L’Oreal photo ad and two photos of himself at on a mountain to promote the livestream soon after. Stop Motion - Technical exercise Part 1

What are the four most important rules for creating stop motions?

- Storyboard - Sound research and application

What are the standard resolutions for:

TV standard definintion is commonly known as 480p which is 640x480 pixels. 

High Definition (HD) TV is known as 1080p or 1920x1080 pixels

Ultra High Definition (UHD) although commonly called 4K isnt in fact 4K as that is for professional work loads. The resolution of consumer TV’s is 3840x2160 while true 4K is 4096x2160. 

My laptop is an Asus Zephyrus G14 with a screen resolution of 1920x1080p. 

My Desktop PC i use has 2 screens one at standard 1920x1080p and the other at 1920x1200p.

 The top Spec iMAC you can buy has Apple’s amazing “5K” display at a massive 5120x2880p 

My Smartphone is a Sony Xperia 5 with a resolution of 2520x1080p

What does the term Aspect Ratio mean?

Aspect ratio is the ratio of horizontal vs vertical pixels on any given screen. 

Most common TV’s at 1080p have as aspect ration of 16:9 which is now the most common for any screen. 

This aspect ratio does not change with HD and UHD screens but with older Standard definition screens at 480p, the aspect ratio is 4:3. 

My laptop has a standard ratio of 16x9 

My Desktop PC has 2 screens with an aspect ratio of 16x9 and 16x10. 

My Sony Xperia 5 Smartphone has an aspect ratio of 21x9 which is commong in the cinema industry. 

What is the PPI for the below devices?

the PPI of standard TV’s greatly changed depending on the physical size of the screen, but taking the most common size of 32″ the PPI’s are as follows: 

HD TV’s are at a low 69ppi 

UHD TV’s are at 138ppi 

My Asus laptop has a PPI of 158. 

My 2 Desktop screens have a PPI of 94 and 92 respectively. 

A top spec iMac has a massive ppi of 228 on it’s 5K retina display. 

Due to the small size of smartphone screens they generally have a big PPI. My Sony Xperia 5 as a ppi of 449. 

Research the most common FPS for Stop Motion/Animation/Video

Stop motion moves such as Wallace and Gromet use an fps of 25 which is the industry standard for most cinema movies. But Stop Motion video has often been seen down at 12fps for that classic “jerky” motion. 

Animation films and movies also use an fps of between 24 and 30 depending on what the creater wants to achieve. 

Video can often vary from high frame rate slow motion captured by common devices as high as 360fps to standard frame rate for streaming and gaming services of 60fps. 

The most common use of Stop Motion is probably in Social Media, what are the recommended aspect ratios & Resolutions & FPS for the below:

Instagram has the recommended aspect ration of 4x3. While resolution is not limited IG compresses video and photo to a lower bitrate. Video fps can be as high as 120fps for slow motion posted at 30 or 60fps. 

Facebook video can be posted as any aspect ratio including ultrawide 21x9 at 4K 60fps, or 1080p 120fps. 

Youtube has a maximum resolution and frame rate of 4K 60fps at 16x9 or often 21x9 Cinema aspect ratio. 

Vimeo officially supports a massive 8K (7680x4320) video at 60fps, and a maximum aspect ratio of 17x9. 

What would happen if you had too many pixels (resolution & PPI) when playing your Stop Motion on the above devices?

Most computers, phones and tablets will automatically convert PPI and resolution to that device’s default given enough processing power and RAM utilisation, Otherwise the video will just not play and a standard Error will occur usually a graphics driver error or at worst a full device crash as it gets overloaded. 

Adobe Photoshop also adjusts pixel denisty commonly known as resolution sampling but the name varies depending on which company implements it to their software. 

My main camera is a Fujifilm XH-1 with a max resolution of 6000x4000 in a standard 24mp sensor. 

The recommended resolution for the Stop Motion brief is 1080p using an H.254 Codec with a standard aspect ratio of 16x9.
