Heres my request for ur fem!driver series:

Y/N wins her first race and everyone is waiting for her national anthem to play but somehow an error in the sound system leads to this song playing:

But instead of being mad abt it, she’s ecstatic just absolutely vibes her lil heart out on the podium and soon she has the other drivers, some commentators and the entire crowd joining in w/ her (cuz she’s THAT GIRL🤩😂)

warning: kinda changed how the podium ceremony normally goes, but it's nothing drastic, tbh. they already received their trophy and champagne.

Y/N stood proudly on the top step of the podium, full in disbelief that this day had actually come. She had won an Formula 1 race, she had won a Grand Prix. The first woman in history to actually do that.

Charles and Lewis glanced up at her, delighted that they could witness the historical moment from this close. They always had the faith that she could do it one day, that she had the skills to overtake them and cross the checkered flag first.

The time had come for her national anthem to start playing. Her eyes welled up with tears, the patriotic feeling in her rising up and the knowledge she had done her country proud. Y/N had prepared herself and had put tissues in the pockets of her racing suit, knowing she was probably gonna end up sobbing by the time the song had finished.

Only, that moment didn't happen.

There had been a mistake in the sound system and instead of the beautiful harmonies of an orchestra being heard, the opening beats of the hip hop song 'Get Low' by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz were being played.

It had taken Y/N a few seconds to comprehend what was happening, the frown on her face evident that she was confused. Similar expressions of confusion and shock were found on Lewis, Charles and everyone else's faces.

Y/N briefly glanced at the staff on the side of the podium and the audience anticipated what she would do. The young woman could give one of two reactions. The first reaction would be for her to stay serious and be upset about the fact that her national anthem wasn't being played. Or, she could go along with the situation, and start dancing to the song to make it fun for everyone witnessing the moment.

Obviously, she went for the second option.

It started with the bobbing of her head to the loud beats that were coming out of the speakers, wiping away the tears that had escaped earlier with her hands. Then, she began to mouth the lyrics and the sight only became funnier from there on.

The song wasn't even halfway done or the podium ceremony had become a concert with the female driver as the headlining act. At first, Lewis and Charles had covered their faces in embarrassment, not for the young woman, but simply for the entire situation. Yet, once they saw the crowd getting hyped up, they joined her and started jumping up and down.

Upon seeing their still unopened champagne bottles standing lonely on the podium, Y/N started the fire and began shaking it. As soon as her two colleagues noticed what she was doing, they picked up their own respective bottles and started doing the same.

Eventually, the song ended and the podium ceremony was over, to everyone's dismay. The drivers picked up their trophies and made their way down the grid again for the short post-podium interview.

Y/N had been the first one to come downstairs and Coulthard grabbed that oppurtunity to interview the young woman first.

''Y/N, what's going through your head right now?'' He asked, handing a microphone to her.

Her hand went through her hair, thinking of the right words to say. ''Pff, I don't know, David,'' her voice sounded out of breath, ''I'm still processing what just happened.'' She nervously laughed, public speaking not being her favorite thing to do.

''I think we're all still processing what just happened,'' Coulthard laughed along, ''what went wrong there on the podium?''

She shook her head, looking back at said podium behind her. ''Geez, uh, I think there was a mistake or something with the cd and, uh, yeah, my national anthem started playing.''

Coulthard started a new question, wanting to change the subject, but was interrupted. ''You know, David- I'm very proud of my country, Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, I know I've made my people proud.'' She joked, making the audience laugh as they listened to the interview.

''That's great, Y/N,'' Coulthard awkwardly replied, just wanting to continue to ask his questions, ''So, about the race…''

''Yes, the race.''

''Talk us through it, how did you feel it was going?''

Y/N nodded her head to David's words. ''The race, uh, the race, it went, uh- listen, I've gotta be honest- I don't remember a thing, but I'm gonna assume I did really well, you know, cause I won.'' She rambled on, genuinely having forgotten all about the competition that had happened earlier.

Lewis, who was standing a few feet away from her, loudly cackled at her answer and his laugh was picked up by the microphone.

''Alright, Y/N, thank you so much and congratulations.'' He padded her shoulder, rounding up the interview.

''I'm so sorry, David.''

Had a sudden urge to draw the third page for that one entrapdak fam comic I did a while ago :))))

I know explaining your own art is cringe and pretentious but I want to scream about this page so bad so please don't mind my silly commentary ><

Forgot to add, but here Anillis also calls Hordak "Poppy!". The very first thing baby Prime did when he saw Hordak was to give him a name (or rather a nickname)

Сomparing Hordak's eyes with poppy flowers, Anillis literally shows acceptance and appreciation for his imperfections, the very "defect" his (Prime's) future self will despise so much

Literally everything about the song and it's lyrics makes me wanna go feral gpfohpfphp (but it's so hard to translate i hate it here might've missed translation error too :/)

Hordak looking so lost, and vulnerable and younger and so full of HOPE-

I'm still unsure whether or not everything holo-Anillis did and said was pre-recorded so this part is up to interpretation

Either way, it's still not Prime who talks to Hordak and gives him the flower and smiles at him with joy and excitement. Prime is dead

also NOT a fun fact: In spacebats' culture a term "Flower eyes" was sometimes used when reffering to someone who is dead (and the fact that Anillis is pointing at his eye aka at himself HELP)

As well as they symbolize remembrance and eternal sleep(death) poppy flowers are also associated with sleep in general. In that case, could this image of Anillis be a hint that neither Hordak nor Kadroh are fully "awake" yet and still need to open their eyes to some things about themselves, their past and their dead tyrant brother? I dunno c:

An interesting Hordak/Entrapta parallel i can't stop thinking about

At a certain point in their lives both of them 1) were exiled and basically sent to die by someone who was important to them and whom they fully trusted (a friend/family/god) 2) got stuck in a strange place, isolated from the rest of the world/universe, all alone (lol speaking of trauma bonds...)

Two very similar and yet very different situations. And here’s the fun part: the main difference between Entrapta and Hordak’s stories is the opposite ways in which they react to their opposite circumstances, cope with and adapt to new changes

 # LEE HEESEUNG ! 

 this handsome idiot doesn’t even have to do anything. in fact, you blush just from looking at a picture of him. during the paradoxxx invasion mv shoot, you’d be waiting with some other staff for heeseung and the rest of the boys to be done. you sat on your phone patiently, lying on your elbow while scrolling through twitter. when you were extremely bored, like now, you’d search up your boyfriend on social media and have a laugh at the different kinds of content engenes would post about him.

it was going great, you even found a few memes to harass with him later, that was until you came across the most amazing photo of heeseung you’d ever seen. he looked angelic, ethereal even, you don’t think you’d ever taken a screenshot so fast in your life. a small giggle rips you out of your daydream, and you jump at the closeness of the easily recognisable voice from behind. “really, babe?” 

you quickly turn off your phone, the blush on your cheeks growing quickly as you meet eyes with your boyfriend, who’s watching you over the couch with a dopey grin on his face. “listen, you just looked so good i had to save it, and i needed it for my album of you.” 

“why do you need an album of pictures when the much better, real life version is right here in front of you?” he inquires, manhandling you to your side to press a quick kiss on your lips. before you can recover, he snatches your phone and unlocks it, taking his own glance at the photo of him that you were practically drooling over. “hm, that is a pretty good one actually.”

“yah, give it back!” 

# PARK JAY !

sometimes, jay would let you come with him, sunghoon, and niki to work out, and you couldn’t decide if you should hate him or be honoured by the invitation. he’d be there in a muscle top, lifting weights, sweat running down his neck, while you sit there in your oversized hoodie and shorts trying to process how he ever became yours. sometimes, he would purposely flex his biceps just to see your reaction, and would even send winks your way every so often. meanwhile, niki would be like: “hey y/n, can you come help me do sit ups?” 

and you’d be like “u-uh yeah sure! coming!” *nervous laughing* of course niki means no harm, you all know this as you sit there, holding his legs down and counting for him while he stretches repeatedly. but jay still doesn’t approve of the fact your eyes were on his friends instead of his, and especially that the blush on your cheeks could be caused by not only him, but now niki too. in your defence, this kid has gotten way too buff in only a few months!

“y/n, come help me do sit ups now.” your boyfriend doesn’t ask, but rather demands, straight up grabbing your under arms and dragging you away from a confused niki. jay does about 20 sit ups, giving you a soft peck on the lips every single time he comes back up. (🥺)

# SIM JAKE !

cutieeee! jake would definitely write lyrics about you in songs not specifically to make you blush, but to show just how much he appreciates you. he would try to tell you right away ‘cause of how excited he would be, and you’d be so cheery and grateful every time. once he’d tell you about his lyrics, whenever you listened to those songs, you’d begin blushing without fail because of how special it’d make you feel, especially when he was the one singing the lyrics about you. “babe, did you listen to the b-sides yet?” jake asks, sitting down excitedly on the couch next to you.

you nod in return, grinning at him proudly. “my favourite is shout out for sure, you guys really suit the rock concept.” you scoot closer to him, offering a small kiss on his cheek. 

he grins shyly, “well, you know the part where it says ‘my life without you is a misery’?” you nod, “i wrote those lyrics for you.” 

you gasp, moving back from him in disbelief. that was your favourite line of the song from first listen, the thought of him writing that with you in mind made you squirm in your seat happily. “seriously!? i thought that was for engenes?” 

jake ponders for a second before shrugging in reply, “them too, but it’s mainly for you. you’ve really helped me a lot without even realising.” he leans down to embrace you, pulling you onto his lap. you really don’t deserve this boy.

# PARK SUNGHOON !

 this man catches on to anything and everything, unfortunately (or fortunately) for you. when he first gave you a back hug and realised how flustered you’d got from the close contact and the sight of his biceps wrapped around your front, he knew he’d found a new weakness of yours. 

you were angry at sunghoon, which was something that you didn’t feel towards him very often. you texted him, specifically saying not to eat the chocolate chip cookies in your pantry, and what did he do? he ate all the cookies that you had planned to have with the milk you’d just bought, even after you specifically told him not to. “i just don’t understand, how can i text you saying don’t do something, and you do it an hour later? i was so excited to have those coo– ah!” you yelp as your suddenly dragged forward into your boyfriends arms, then being spun around so your back pressed against his built chest. any anger and frustration dissipated in seconds as your tense body relaxes, the only thoughts in your head now was how nice he smelled and how warm he felt behind you. why did he have to be so sneaky?

his chin rests above your head, strong arms locked around your waist securely. “i really did forget, i’m sorry baby. i promise i’ll buy you the best cookies in the world tomorrow.”

you grab hold of his arms and gulp at how muscly they felt, leaning your head back to look up at him. “you know exactly what you’re doing, don’t you?”  

he giggles adorably, “maybe.”

“i hate you,” you huff.

“it’s a sin to lie, y/n.”

# KIM SUNOO !

 this baby probably wouldn’t even be aware when he made you blush half the time because he could be doing literally anything and you’d still be flustered. however, he did recognise that there was one way that always worked if he wanted to see your cheeks turn bright pink. sunoo finds it hilariously adorable that whenever he showers you in compliments and attention, you start blushing as if it’s your first date all over again. 

you were at your local park on a boba date when you ask if he can take photos of you for your social media. of course, he agrees excitedly, making sure to take the photos on his phone so he could keep them forever and perhaps get them made into polaroids for his room. “okay, show me that beautiful smile!” he grins cheekily when you do, offering a few cute poses. “you’re so stunning, i think i’m going to go blind! wah, i’m so lucky.” 

“yah, you’re so embarrassing, just take the pictures!” you whine, blushing from his compliments. he giggles, recognising the blush on your cheeks immediately. 

“i can’t help it, how can you be so adorable?” he blabbers, continuing to snap more photos for you to choose from, never stopping his onslaught of cheesy remarks along the way. 

after your mini photoshoot, you walk back over to your boyfriend whos looking a bit too suspiciously happy. “what’d you do n—“ your jaw drops as you see him changing his lock screen to a photo of you when you were in the middle of scolding him during the photoshoot, looking like an angry, embarrassed puppy. “sun! i look stupid, take that off right now!” 

he only laughs harder, bending over. “no you look adorable! look at your pouty face!”

you whine once more. “you couldn’t just pick a nice picture?!”

# YANG JUNGWON !

 being the leader of his group despite being the second youngest gave jungwon a hand at constantly checking on his members and keeping an eye on every little thing. this boy always makes sure you’re well and tidy, and damn if it isn’t attractive.

for example, you’d just be sitting in the dorms while jungwon cleaned up the kitchen, your sleeping shorts not doing much to cover you. jungwon’s keen eye would notice right away as they rode further up your thigh, eyebrows furrowing at your underwear nearly peeking through. he’d rush over, pulling your shorts down, and you’d look up from your phone in surprise. “oh, thanks,” you say, a slight blush blossoming along your face. it flustered you to know that didn’t matter what he was doing, he always had you in his little bubble of consciousness. 

your boyfriend grins, “you’re welcome, love.” his big eyes turning into cute crescents as he leaned down to give you a quick peck before going back into the kitchen. his thoughtfulness and constant care for you was truly outmatched. 

or if you were ever in a situation where you were uncomfortable, jungwon would know right away, his leaderly instincts alerting him to step in. you’d be at the grocery store, running errands when you were stopped by a man who seemed around your age, perhaps a bit older. jungwon was in the aisle next to you, and he could clearly hear your conversation. “hey, i think you’re really pretty, can i get your number?” the man said. you frowned. you were tired, and you just wanted to have a cute shopping date with your boyfriend. jungwon - knowing you so well - could see this by your expression alone, so even if he was confident you could stand up for yourself, he made his way back to the aisle you were in to deal with it for you. 

“they’re taken.” is all he needed to say, offering the man a passive aggressive smile. despite being shorter than the guy, jungwon managed to intimidate him with ease. you always appreciated his little acts of service for you, he truly was perfect.  

# NISHIMURA RIKI !

 where do i even start with this cocky mf.. niki is always finding new ways to tease you and make you flustered, it’s just how he shows affection. he does all kinds of things to make you blush; purposely wearing tank tops to flex his slowly growing muscles (hybe close the gyms pt.2), being extra touchy out of nowhere to see you freeze up, and of course, making fun of your shortness by asking stupid things like how the weather is down there. one of his most favorite methods though, which has worked every time without fail, is when he gets right up in your face during a conversation. 

he completely understands the effect he has on you, never the oblivious type, and uses it to his advantage any chance he can get. you would be on his bed, playfully bantering back and forth like usual. “an arm wrestle? that’s how you want to settle who’s stronger?” 

niki scoffs, “yeah, how else? this is like the nicest way i can show you, idiot. i still don’t get how you think you’re stronger than me to begin with.”

you roll your eyes at his, “you have way too much confidence, i’m stronger than i look.”

“fine then, c’mere,” the boy demands teasingly, reaching his arm out. you quickly follow after him, grabbing his larger hand in yours.

“i hope this won’t bruise your manly ego too much, i’m going to win,” you declare. gripping his hand tighter, you look up at him, ready to begin a countdown until you see his face right up in yours. your mouth falls open slightly in surprise, gulping as your noses brush, lips centimeters away from his pink ones.

“oh yeah? you’re going to win?” niki says almost mockingly, and you feel a shiver go down your back as you feel his warm breath on your face. you’re still drowning in his closeness, trying to comprehend what was happening when he suddenly begins counting down with no announcement at all, “three.. two.. one.. go!” his arms flex as he immediately yanks your arm down, making you wince in slight pain.

“you’re such a fucking cheater!” he laughs proudly at your whining, falling back at your still dazed expression. “you were seducing me like some crazy siren!”

 “yeah, and it worked. you should be happy babe, you were going to lose either way. at least i made the process a bit more enjoyable for you.”

Yunho knows something is wrong when you don’t respond to any of his texts—especially the random cat memes he knows usually has you rolling on the floor—which is why the second Hongjoong concludes their practice session, he’s beelining out of the building and straight to your apartment. He manages to make it to your front door in half the usual time, not bothering to knock since you always keep the door unlocked for his surprise entrances. Yunho half expects you to be asleep already, having been aware of the long week you’ve experienced between school, work, and life in general, so he’s pleasantly surprised to spot you in the kitchen. 

You’re facing away from him, unaware of his entrance while preparing your dinner on the stovetop. Although Yunho can’t exactly see your face, he can pinpoint the exhaustion plaguing your mind between the slump of your shoulders and the sluggish nature of your movements. He wants nothing more than to take you into his arms and kiss you until the workings of your day are but a distant memory, but—a bit selfishly—Yunho wishes to see you smile first. 

He retracts his phone to pull up one of the many playlists you made together, scrolling down until he finds the perfect song to fulfill his task. With excitement now invading his nerves like adrenaline, he places his phone down on a nearby counter and approaches your sullen form, still unknowing of his presence. The music begins as Yunho wraps his arms around your waist from behind. A tired, yet relieved sigh falls from your lips, blending with the hum of the guitar. You move to melt into his hold, but Yunho is quick to grab your forearms and guide you away from the stove as Mickey and Sylvia’s harmony echoes through the kitchen. 

“Baby, what are you doing?” You raise an eyebrow, showing confusion as Yunho awkwardly maneuvers your arms to the rhythm of the song, attempting to ease the obvious tension from your muscles. He can’t help but sway his own hips, his smile not faltering when you repeat your question for a second time. Instead, he continues to move your body while mouthing the lyrics: 

“Your sweet loving is better than a kiss… When you leave me, sweet kisses I miss…” 

You release a giggle at his antics and finally begin to follow his lazy movements by your own free will. Yunho takes the opportunity to move his hands to your hips, delivering you a wink when the song’s iconic conclusion kicks in.

“Sylvia?” Yunho calls dramatically.

To his delight, you respond with a hum. “Yes, Mickey?” 

“How do you call your lover boy?” 

You’re more enthusiastic this time. “Come here, lover boy.” 

“And if he doesn’t answer?” 

“Oh, lover boy…” 

He grins knowingly. “And if he still doesn’t answer?” 

“I simply say baby—oh baby…” You and Yunho are practically melded together at this point, neither of your bodies allowing the other to move away as you dance to the music. Yunho beams at the bright smile etched across your face, drowning in your newfound joy as you continue to sing: 

“My sweet baby—you’re the one…”

there’s a particularly awesome beat drop toward the end of the song, which leads you to do some equally awesome head banging.

he’s cackling at this point, which drives you to act even sillier.

once the song ends and you’re trying to catch your breath, he slowly starts clapping for you.

“the song was great, but the performance was even better,” he’d say, coming off a bit sarcastic. but he means well!

you start to get a bit self-conscious and shy as you put yourself together again.

he’ll try to comfort you, standing up to wrap you in a hug.

overall, he’d love it when you share your music taste, and this event will probably set off a chain reaction of similar jam sessions in the future.

ok so we all know minho’s a cat person, blah blah blah...

but what if you got super excited about a really cute dog?

let’s say you’re on a walk at a park, holding hands, and talking.

all of a sudden you see someone walking their dog…

and when i tell you this is the cutest, tiniest dog on the face of the earth,,,

you immediately stop walking and squeeze minho’s hand. you point to the dog and start freaking out because it’s so cute.

he’d say something silly like, “what are you talking about? it looks like a rat.”

you disregard it because you’re just so excited about this puppy!

“can we pet it?” you ask.

“... fine” he replies, smiling at you, despite his attempts to act uninterested.

y’all go over to the woman walking her dog and ask if you can pet the puppy. when she says you can pet him, you immediately sit on the ground, ready to have the best puppy playdate of your life.

minho’s still standing, watching you with loving eyes.

of course, you start talking to the puppy as if he’s a baby. minho laughs, trying to stifle all the uwus emanating from his heart

the puppy climbs onto your lap and licks your face just a little bit.

you look up at minho with wide eyes, saying “awww, isn’t he so cute!”

he’d playfully roll his eyes because why would he cheat on cats like that…

then you tug on his hand, motioning for him to sit with you. he does, reluctantly.

you place the puppy on his lap to see what happens.

the dog loves him! (of course, because what living thing wouldn’t love lee minho?)

the puppy is licking minho all over as he makes faces of disgust and struggles to pull him away.

you laugh out loud, happier than ever at the two very good boys in front of you.

he smiles again, completely endeared with your excitement despite being covered in puppy spit...

so, it doesn’t matter what kinds of animals you two prefer, since you’re the cutest thing he’s ever seen. (aww)

changbin:

i feel like changbin is the type to not be ashamed of/shy about showing you the songs he’s writing.

...except for right now.

he just got home from the studio, dropping his bag onto a table… but some papers fall out.

you attempt to grab the papers, but changbin stops you and grabs them himself instead with a subtle hint of nervousness.

pretty suspicious if you ask me.

“what’s up?” you ask, a bit confused about what just happened.

he’d try to play it off like nothing suspicious was going on, but you know his poker face.

it’s too cute not to notice.

he likes to play all tough but you (and everyone else tbh) know him better than that.

you go to grab the papers, but he steps away. you try again… and again, and again, and again.

you become increasingly more frustrated and impatient with each attempt, until changbin holds them up high in the air where you can’t reach them. he has a look on his face that says ‘haha! gotcha!’

you’ve never done this much jumping in your life.

but you’re not a quitter.

“okay… i give up,” you say, returning to a stationary position and placing your arms around his neck.

however, just as he lowers his hands to your waist, you snatch the papers!

“AHA!” you exclaim.

all he can say is “damn it!” as you scramble to the couch with the papers in your hand. you sit facing away from him, attempting to speed-read the lyrics sprawled across the pages.

he follows you to the couch, trying to take the papers back from behind.

“binnie, these are so good!!”

“thanks… but were they worth betraying your innocent boyfriend?”

“yes. every word.” you finally hand him back the papers with a smirk.

he’d curse under his breath, ditching the papers in favor of tickling you instead.

what a terrible punishment!

we all know hyunjin is a drama queen,,

you can be a bit of a dramatic person yourself (who isn’t?).

so when you lose your favorite sweater, you’re immediately going on a wild goose chase around the dorms, because that’s where you had it last.

you’re practically talking to yourself. double checking everywhere you’d been. retracing your steps like a mad person.

you need this sweater!!

you let out a little “urgh!” as you begin getting frustrated.

hyunjin would ask what’s wrong, and when you tell him, he’d GASP.

he’d be like:

“have you checked under the bed?”

“the couch?”

“what about over here?”

“over there?”

this boy will not REST until the sweater is back in your possession, wasting no time in matching your level of concern/dramatics...

… if not exceeding it.

y’all have practically torn the whole room apart at this point.

until finally, you find it in a random drawer (of course smh)

“I FOUND IT!” you’d exclaim, flopping onto the bed and putting the sweater on,

to which you’d receive a “YAY!” in return

tired and leaning against a wall, he’d say something like, “thank GOD! now, why do you need it so bad?”

and you’d simply and softly respond, “... i got chilly~”

he wouldn’t give a verbal response, but his face would go from relaxed to ‘bruh’.

you knew he’d be shocked at your statement, but you choose to tease him instead with a smile.

he would then opt to tackle you in the bed, fumbling with the covers and vowing to make you as warm as humanly possible.

jisung:

jisung definitely loves showing you the music he’s been working on, just like changbin.

except… this time, the lyrics aren’t necessarily what you’re used to hearing.

you can tell jisung’s a bit nervous as he presses play, choosing to keep his eyes on the floor as he nods his head to the rap.

you’re listening intently, as curious and excited as you are every other time…

but then you realize that it’s about you……

the lyrics talk about letting someone into his life and his longing to be even closer to that person than he is now.

therefore,,,,   u w u

you giggle, which prompts him to look up at you almost immediately with anticipation about your reaction.

you decide to wait until the end of the song to react, but you can already feel the excitement bubbling up inside of you.

the song ends, and you’re sitting in silence alongside jisung. “so… what did you think?”

“well… i think…” you trail off, looking into jisung’s eyes.

with a bit of a squeal you leap up from your seat and essentially attack him.

you straddle his legs (don’t get any *ideas* this is FLUFF for goodness sake) and wrap your arms around his neck, locking him into a big hug.

“i love it, baby. so, so, so, much,” you respond quickly and genuinely.

he laughs, his arms wrapping around you.

he’d probably remark, “you scared me for a second!”

you laugh in response, apologizing for your delayed reaction.

deep down, he’d feel so relieved that you liked the song and its sentiment.

he’d also be so happy to have you, his overexcited sweetheart, in his arms.

however, at the surface, he’d prefer to tease you. “next time, don’t make me wait so long!”

ok so y’all send memes and tik toks back and forth all day every day. it’s just protocal.

also,,, you could literally be in the same room, and he’d still just start sending you tik toks he’d saved just to send to you and see your reaction.

but there’s this   o n e

you can’t quite explain why but when you watch the tik tok that your boyfriend sent you from across the couch, you laugh harder than you’ve ever laughed before.

whatever humor you may have, this tik tok completely encompasses it in a beautiful, stupid way.

before you know it, you begin cackling.

felix knows that you’ve always been a bit embarrassed of your laugh (who isn’t, right?), so when you start letting loose he’s a bit caught off guard.

still, he joins in (at a smaller scale, of couse).

he always wants to see you happy, but this is a whole new level of cuteness in his eyes.

your laughter subsides a bit...

until you decide to watch the tik tok again.

believe it or not, it’s even funnier the second time!

you double over, laughing so hard that no sound is even coming out of your mouth.

“are you okay?!” he’d ask, laughing harder now at your actions.

he’d put his arms around you so he could hold you up.

you’d mouth out a “no” in response.

there are practically tears forming at the corners of your eyes.

he’d continue looking down at you with a beaming smile, holding you up until your laughter comes to a full stop.

“was it really that funny? i can’t even make you laugh like this.”

you’re almost dazed, your stomach hurting (in the best way possible). you try to steady your breathing.

after a few seconds of recovery, he’d whisper in your ear with a deep, silly voice...

“...wanna watch it again?”

it’s safe to say you won’t fully recover for a while.

seungmin:

on days off, you watch dramas with seungmin to take both of your minds off of work/school/whatever’s been keeping you busy.

however… of course you can’t go a whole episode without laughing hysterically, and it’s all because of seungmin.

it could be the most dramatic, intense, or heartbreaking scene in the show but he would make it into a full blown impersonation comedy routine.

ESPECIALLY if the drama is in a foreign language.

this boy will reinact all of the subs in the stupidest way possible.

but, today he’s a bit exhausted, snuggling up against you and not saying much.

our boys work too hard :((   (but wbk)

...so you decide to take his place.

you start off kind of hesitantly, waiting to see if he’d even react. when the main characters start to have an argument, you begin reading the subtitles in a silly voice.

you hear a soft giggle from your boyfriend has be tightens his arm’s grip around your waist.

you begin to use different voices for each of the two characters, alternating between a nasly, high pitched one and a lower one with voice cracks. this makes seungmin laugh harder, going from a giggle to his usual open-mouthed chuckle.

he’s so cute >_< ,,anyways…

as the scene intensifies, so does the volume of your impersonations.

at this point seungmin is cackling despite his heavy eyes and unwillingness to move. he’d be so caught up in your routine that he’d forget he was even tired.

you look up at him to see that big smile and those sparkly eyes you love so much, which motivates you to be even goofier!

you sit up, leaving seungmin’s grasp. you begin making hand gestures to match your overdramatic tone.

the scene comes to a climax, in which you recite the final line with more ferver and fake passion than ever before. you finish it off with a fist in the air for ~emphasis~.

as you hold this pose, you hear your loyal audience member begin to cheer for you. he claps, whisper-shouting “ahh” to create fake crowd noises.

“what a show!” he would commend you with an expression of sarcastic awe on his face.

you’re really glad you decided to cheer him up…

but not nearly as glad as he is to have you with him on a day like this.

jeongin:

jeongin’s smile could literally melt anyone’s heart. everybody knows this.

i don’t care who you are, if you see jeongin smile, you either smile or cry and there are no other options.

i don’t make the rules.

so, when he shows you the ‘lovestay’ version of his latest dance practice, you’re bound to go insane with adoration.

as soon as his solo comes up and the camera zooms in on his sweet, smiling face, you give his cheek a little poke

you say, “that’s you!��

“shut up,” he’d respond, giggling.

“wait, i missed something,” you say with a sense of urgency. you take the phone from his hands, rewinding a few seconds.

he’d roll his eyes at you, getting a bit shy.

you resume the video until the boy in the video holds up a finger heart, at which point you press pause.

“look how cute!” you exclaim, looking up at jeongin and pointing back and forth between him and the screen.

“stop it!” he’s blushing (and you’re screaming internally at how cute he is) as he tries to refrain from making a big smile.

you poke his side, resulting in a small fit of laughter that forces his bright grin to peek out.

he swats your hand away, putting his arm around you

(partly to show his affection and partly to make you hold still)

you place your head onto his shoulder, resuming the video for the final time. “you’re too cute. i can’t help it.”

“but you’re the cutest...” he murmurs, almost inaudibly to someone who isn’t as close to him as you are now.

heat rises in your face.

you: “...stop…”

him: “hah!”

“Perfect.” Sam mutters, applying another sticker on his brothers Impala.

To be fair, Dean started it with dying Sam’s hair neon pink by adding the die to his shampoo. Poor Sam had to go to a salon to remove it by dying his hair back to a reasonable color close to his original hair color. Now Sam has resorted to buying stickers, that you can easily remove, to make it look like his car was shot at and scratched. And it looked rather convincing.

Dean was going to be pissed. And pissed might be an understatement.

“Hey Sam,” Y/N says, entering the garage where Sam was adding flare by grabbing a knife and gun from the trunk and heading towards the unsuspecting Y/N. “Something just pinged, it sounds like the darkness but I’m not one hundred on – why are you handing me these?” she asks, as Sam hands her the items and runs.

“Sam!” she calls out after him but continues into the garage to investigate what the younger Winchester was up to. And sees the devastation done to Dean’s car.

“Sam,” she could hear Dean enter the garage.

“Oh shit, oh fuck,” she mutters under her breath, as she scrambles to get rid of the knife and gun.

But when she turned and she sees the older Winchester enter, but hasn’t seen the catastrophe. Not until he’s right at his car.

“What the fuck?” she heard him say. “SAM!” He shouts. Tearing his throat up.

He turns and sees her holding a knife and gun, completely ignoring her shocked expression which, for some reason, turned into fearful laughter.

“I know what you’re thinking, but Dean, trust me, I didn’t do it.” she says, heart pounding in her chest.

“Why the, what the, you did this!?” he stammers. Veins bulge out of his head, clearly angry. She laughs even more.

“This isn’t funny, look at my car!” he yells.

“I know, I’m sorry, it wasn’t me I swear!” she laughs, sounding a lot like she’s crying.

“Quit laughing!” he shouts.

“I’m laughing because you are angry, I swear I didn’t do it!” she shouts. “Oh god, I’m in danger!” she adds, laughing harder.

Her laughter, caused tears streaming down her cheeks, her cheeks burned as the blood flow continued to rise, even her ears felt warm.

Confused he could just look at her, then back at the car. Then back at her.

Since Y/N joined the Winchester’s, it was at first just a protection duty. A horde of werewolves from a pack Y/N’s family nearly wiped out was out for revenge. So, the boys protected her, even hunted down a good number of the members of the pack. Even the wolves, and the brothers learned that though her family continued to hunt, she doesn’t.

She went to school, became a freelancing graphic designer and writer. She had a life, a normal apple pie life.

Then she heard her parents died on a hunt, a witch hunt, when an unusual spell took hold of her dad, taking him out slow and painful, her mom was poisoned by the witch.

She never believed in revenge, but when she learned of this, the thought of following her parents lingered. Then the brothers came. Rescued her, the werewolves and her came to a truce, and an agreement. No hunting humans, or her, they’ll live all happily ever after. Sam even recommended them Garth, and added reinforcement, called Garth up to be on the look out to help them out.

Ever since that odd encounter, the brothers and Y/N have been really close. Especially with Dean. She was exactly like him. More ways than some. She keeps him in check. And he’s her rock.

But something about the way she’s looking, the way she’s dressed, is effecting him.

Her short ripped jean shorts, showing her perfectly toned legs and thighs, a black fitted t-shirt sporting YouTube entertainment. Her favorite gaming channel being Achievement hunter. And wearing his many flannels. His black and white flannel. He remembered when he knew he lost it to her.

After a hunt, the boys were gone a week longer than planned, she was scared out of her wits about them. He found her sleeping in his bed with his flannel on. He didn’t fight it, argue it, nothing. Not when he saw the fresh wetness on her cheeks when he returned. He slept with her close to him, even he needed to be reminded she was there.

He lets in a deep breath, but comes out a growl when he exhales.

“Bedroom, now.” He growls.

Without hesitation she leads the way to Dean’s bedroom. Dean slams the door shut.

“Bed.” He orders. She lays her back on the bed, crawling back towards the head of the bed where her back is on the headboard.

His lips didn’t hesitate to make their way to hers in a needy kiss. His tongue teasing it’s way in, when her lips part enough his tongue claims hers, lips not leaving as their love is being poured ounce by ounce in the kiss.

His hands take hers, placing them over her head. He pulls away from the kiss.

“Keep them there.” He pants.

“Dean,” she whines. Squirming under him.

He works his belt off of his jeans, tying them around her wrists in away so he could have it tied above her head, unable to touch him.

His lips are back on hers in an instant, as he undresses her.

“So, fucking gorgeous.” He says in the kiss. She moans into his mouth.

He smirks. “Someone likes being praised.” He says. Making her smile as he pulls out of the kiss, pulling her shorts and panties away in one swoop.

His mouth is watering at the sight of her, and wastes no time. One flick of his tongue at her aching core, a strangled moan escapes her throat.

He knows when she’s close when her hips find a rhythm and she tries to get more friction with each thrust. Causing him to stop. This happens a few times.

“Yeah, I was starting to wonder if we’d ever fess up?” she says.

“I’m sure we would have.” He said. “It’d either me doing something stupid, or us doing this. It would have been one of two ways.” He adds.

“Yep.” She says.

A yawn escaping her. “What do you wanna do tomorrow?” she slurs, as sleep is coming knocking.

“How about I take you out to dinner? And even another one of these nights just not so…”

“Pornographic.” She adds. Earning a chuckle from Dean.

“Yeah, that.” He says.

He places a loving kiss on her forehead, as he lets sleep take him in.

“Goodnight sweetheart.” He says.

“G’night Dean,” she says, yawning again. “Love you.” She adds.

He smiles, with a light chuckle so as to not jostle her. “Love you to baby.” He whispers.

As he brings her in tighter, she even helps by snuggling in more into his chest, as sleep takes them in.

Monsta X as the “SEVEN DEADLY SINS” 💀

Based on their comeback teasers and photos, I’ve pinpointed what “Sin” each member of Monsta X represents along with the “Virtue” opposition. This is just my opinion and theory which probably won’t be accurate lol Enjoy!

Changkyun as Envy:

“Envy is an emotion which ‘occurs when a person lacks another's superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it’."

I.M easily compares himself to others. But we know Changkyun as someome who is very grateful for where he is today and grateful for the people who support him. The virtue that is opposite of the sin Envy is Gratitude. But he has the problem of being a bit envious of others. For example, take his lyrics from Jealousy. Yes the song is about being jealous but I can’t help but feel the little sting of his lyrics during his rap. (English Translations)

“I got it, the last out of the seven. Think these guys are better than me?”

“Wow, to each their own misunderstanding. What’s so fun about teasing me?”

Jooheon as Pride:

Oh boy here we go.

“Pride is an inwardly directed emotion that carries two antithetical meanings. With a negative connotation pride refers to a foolishly and irrationally corrupt sense of one's personal value, status or accomplishments...”

Pretty much ya boy is full of himself. In the Monsta X concepts, Jooheon seems to always plays a “character” that is very prideful. His first ever famous rap that was from Trespass was

“I’m different from those pretty boys over there. Excuse me, excuse my charisma. I’m gonna be rude and enter your heart. My love knows no manners, excuse my charisma!”

But wait, MONBEBE’s know that Jooheon is not really like that at all. He is a sweetheart who always shows Humility (Virtue opposite of Pride). He is supportive and often comforts them member extremely well. We also know that sometimes, Honey is sometimes very self conscious (BUT BABY WHY? YOU ARE SO HANDSOME AND TALENTED AND WOWOW). And the only way to rid those insecurities is to replace them with his badass persona that we’ve all learned to adore.

Hyungwon as Sloth:

“Sloth is one of the seven capital sins. It is the most difficult sin to define, and to credit as sin, since it refers to a peculiar jumble of notions, dating from antiquity and including mental, spiritual, pathological, and physical states. One definition is: a habitual disinclination to exertion... The word ‘sloth’ is a translation of the Latin term acedia and means ‘without care’.”

Hyungwon is definitely Sloth (also Pride but for this lets just say Sloth). He’s tired and lazy and sleepy. He is known as laid back and care free. He doesn’t talk much and is a considered a “meme”. But in reality, Hyungwon is one of the most Diligent (Virtue opposite of Sloth) members. He is talented and extremely hard working when it comes to his position as a dancer and singer. But he still loves to indulge in his sleep and that’s something he can’t rid himself of.

(It’s okay Wonnie, i am on the same boat. Sleepyheads unite!!!)

Kihyun as Wrath:

“Wrath or Anger is an intense expression of emotion. It involves a strong uncomfortable and hostile response to a perceived provocation, hurt or threat. Kihyun is known as eomma. He’s motherly and is always kind. Always looking out for the members and has amazing Patience(Virtue opposite of Wrath). But sometimes, he just gets angry and annoyed and can’t handle someone making the same mistake constantly. He reminds me of the phrase “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” That patience of his runs thin when you keep hitting the same nerve. He practically pulls his hair out when it comes to the members and things being unclean (poor babe, thats a tough life). He most likely feels that he loses his cool a little too often and too easily which is something he might be working on.

Minhyuk as Greed:

“Greed, or avarice, is an inordinate or insatiable longing for material gain, be it food, money, status, or power. As a secular psychological concept, greed is an inordinate desire to acquire or possess more than one needs. The degree of inordinance is related to the inability to control the reformulation of ‘wants’ once desired ‘needs’ are eliminated. Erich Fromm described greed as ‘a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction.’ It is typically used to criticize those who seek excessive material wealth, although it may apply to the need to feel more excessively moral, social, or otherwise better than someone else.”

Minhyuk is known as the sunshine. Always giving, generous and caring. Charity/Generosity is the virtue that is opposite of the sin Greed and we all know this boy is the definition of a generous person. Always loving and giving so much to his members and his fans. But he has a side to him that is greedy and just wants all of the love and attention. He is the type to lowkey want you to compliment him back if he compliments you. All the love he exerts is what he wants shown back to him. Maybe he is also greedy when it comes to success of Monsta X. He wants them to be on the top and to be the best, his inner greed just wanting more and more.

Wonho as Lust:

DON’T @ ME BUT YOU KNOW THIS IS CORRECT.

“Lust is a psychological force producing intense wanting for an object, or circumstance fulfilling the emotion. Lust can take any form such as the lust for sexuality, money or power.”

Okay okay hear me out. Monbebe’s know him for his Chastity (Virtue opposite of Lust). He is a fluff who is pure and sweet. He couldn’t hurt a fly without crying. He just loves monbebe so much UGH GET YOU A MAN WHO STANS YOU JUST AS MUCH AS YOU STAN HIM WOW. But his role in Monsta X is to be the sexy one and to reveal his body. He has to rip off his shirt and make those ladies s w o o n. But I feel like nowadays, he can’t help but enjoy it. Oh boy he LOVES it. I feel like that one time thing became a mandatory act for every performance. It turned from “Oh Wonho, maybe show the fans some skin” to “Crap Wonho went rogue. MAYDAY MAYDAY WE GOTTA STOCK UP ON HIS SHIRTS.” (just give the man some pasties dammit or the shirt is coming OFF)

Shownu as Gluttony:

I feel like people mistake Gluttony as only something based on an over abundance of food. But it can also mean the “over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or wealth items.”

Shownu is most like the definition of the virtue, Temperance (Virtue opposite of Gluttony).

“Temperance is defined as moderation or voluntary self-restraint. It is typically described in terms of what an individual voluntarily refrains from doing. This includes restraint from retaliation in the form of non-violence and forgiveness, restraint from arrogance in the form of humility and modesty, restraint from excesses such as splurging now in the form of prudence, and restraint from excessive anger or craving for something in the form of calmness and self-control.”

We know Shownu for his leadership and amazing self control. He is the Papa-Bear. Extremely supportive and a pretty chill person. But Shownu isn’t perfect despite people expecting him to be. He is human, he makes mistakes. Gluttony can go hand-in-hand with Greed in this situation. He wants Monsta X to succeed more and to be the best. I feel like Gluttony can go hand-in-hand with all of the sins, which Shownu might all have. Envious of other members due to his small popularity compared to them. Prideful of his talent and body and nature. Little pieces of each sin but at the same time, he has every aspect of all of the virtues as well. A balance between good and evil. Hence why he is the leader. He understands all of the “bad” parts of each member but he also knows all of the good parts too and respects them.

This month was surprisingly rich and eventful when musical releases are considered; I had a hard time picking my top five of the month, especially when a lot of great releases trickled in near the end. However, as many character flaws as I have, being indecisive typically isn’t one of them, so without further ado, here are my top five recommendations for the month of April. 

Before we get into it, though, I just want to say I know that I missed last month -- you guys won’t let me hear the end of it, and rightfully so. I won’t make a lot of excuses beyond there was a lot going on with work and in my personal life, but I’ll do my best not to miss another month again. March wasn’t that eventful anyway, though there were a few gems. If you’d still like me to talk about them at a later time, let me know.

#005. “THANKS (고맙다)” - DOUBLE SINGLE BY GEMINI (제미나이) RELEASE DATE: 06 APRIL 2019

Now, this may be a little shocking and possibly even upsetting to some of my readers, but I’m actually not entirely all-that-familiar with the whole Gemini situation, even if my younger sister is under their same company. All that went on while I was still in college,and trust me, I had a lot of drama of my own to sort through at the time, but the gist of what I knew before this release was that they were involuntarily put through a survival show where half the group got cut. Through my sister’s experiences, I know a little bit of what it can be like to be in a group; you literally spend every second of your time together and more often than not, the members get really close. The pain that event must have caused them is so tangible with this release, even three years after everything happened as it did, as the twelve of them briefly reunited to release these two songs. 

With that bit of background out of the way, “Thanks (고맙다)” consists of two songs; one with the exact same title and another called “Don’t Wanna Cry (울고 싶지 않아).” Both songs are Future Bass-esque tracks with modulated synth patterns and heavy beat drops, which I think is a unique pairing with such sad and emotional lyrics -- but it works well. In both cases, it really makes the listener feel the strength of their emotions, and it has the potential to generate this sort of bittersweet nostalgic feeling, which I find quite genius on the part of the arrangers and composers of these two songs; and sensibly, the members of Gemini themselves worked on every aspect of these songs together. It shows. 

For specifics, we’ll start with the title track, as it’s the first of the two that appears on the tracklist. “Thanks (고맙다)” is, in my opinion, the lyrically superior of these two tracks, so I’m glad to see it as the title. The chorus is so powerful both lyrically and musically that I got that lump in my throat as I listened, and even as someone who doesn’t know the entirety of their story, I really felt for these boys and all they had been through together, and apart. The general message speaks toward the regret they feel for not better articulating how much they cared for one another while they were together, so they take this time now to thank each other "even after all the waiting, all the longing, and all of our memories.” That’s a truly beautiful message, and I believe it may be encouraging to other groups not to take each other for granted, because you never know what your company will do with you, at the end of the day. 

“Don’t Wanna Cry (울고 싶지 않아),” while not as lyrically solid as its predecessor, is definitely the sadder of the two songs as you may have gathered from the title. The synths are used in a way that support the simple chorus so that the listener can feel more than hear how the events of the survival show have affected them. According to the album description, this song was actually written three years ago, right after the events of the show came to an end -- but they re-recorded and released it now that they have the chance. It definitely shows how their skills as lyricists and artists have progressed; this isn’t a bad song at all, don’t get me wrong, but I almost feel as though “Don’t Wanna Cry (울고 싶지 않아),” should have been first on the tracklist because the way it conveys a simpler, though sadder message. On this track, the members of Gemini are basically telling each other how sad they are to be separated, and how much they wish things could have been different -- but how, in the end, they’ll be strong for one another, and always there for each other, waiting to do anything they can, and for the chance to be together again. It almost seems like a love song, honestly, and I appreciate the emphasis on the vulnerability and the value these boys place on their relationship. It’s definitely something you don’t see a lot of boy groups doing.

#004. “RUSSIAN DOLL” - STUDIO ALBUM BY COLA RELEASE DATE: 25 APRIL 2019

I feel as though everyone has those artists that they know about and appreciate but don’t heavily “stan” so, ashamedly, some things fly under the radar. That’s Cola for me. I love to see more experimental and bold artists out there, especially male ones, because male artists in the industry tend to repeat and copy the same trends and styles and ideas and it gets stale really quick. But Cola always brings something fresh and new, and that’s what I can really appreciate about his music. I didn’t let “Russian Doll” slip through the cracks for me; as soon as I heard it had come out, I dropped everything and went to listen. And let me tell you, I was far from disappointed. 

As Cola’s fourth full-length album, “Russian Doll” consists of 12 tracks, with one title. As this isn’t an in-depth review of the album, I can’t talk about every song, but I’ll tell you now that all of them are worth your listen. The two I’d like to highlight are “Golden Age” and “Motherfucker,” and of course I have to talk about the title track, “Juice.” 

“Golden Age” is the first song on the tracklist, and I think this was done with incredible purpose. The slow progression of both the lyrics and the music together really sets the mood for the rest of the album, which takes you on this sort of rollercoaster of emotions and sensations. The lyrics are delivered with so much emotion that it can be easy to forget about the accompanying music, but the way the vocals are pushed to the forefront is actually really appropriate for a song like this, in my opinion, and the way the progression is paced sort of primes you for this huge bang that doesn’t actually come within this track itself, but that’s okay. An explosive bridge or a sudden change in tone would have felt weird with a song like this, and I like it as a standalone, but I think it’s supposed to lead you into the album, like the prologue of a story. On top of that, the deeply personal lyrics convey a theme of self-discovery and self-giving love, which is really sweet. As painfully single and alone as I am, this song really made me feel loved for four minutes. 

Remember that “bang” I just mentioned? That’s “Juice.” I was not expecting this energetic pop song right after “Golden Age” just plunged me deep in my feelings, but I think that’s what makes this song an even better experience than just listening to it on its own. As a pop connoisseur, I love everything about this song -- the high and light vocals, the disco-synth beat, the overt sexual innuendos -- it’s great. I can already see future-Melody in her skintight rainbow dress dancing to this in the gay bar after having too many sangrias, and I’m happy for her. I hope she gets juiced, too. 

The last song from this album I’d like to talk about is track seven, “Motherfucker.” And no, I don’t just like this song because I have a potty mouth, though that’s definitely a factor; the fact of the matter is that lyrically, this song is really something special. The lyrics are written and delivered in this short-of-breath kind of way that makes the song feel so simple and yet so passionate, and the way its so in-control of itself as a song is excellent. This song knows exactly what it is and Cola knows exactly what he wants to say, and how to say it. I feel like most will agree with me here, but the lyrics “do you really want me to write a feminist anthem? / I’m happy cooking dinner in the kitchen for my husband” sent me. There’s something so intrinsically feminist about that lyric, because its his choice. It’s not something he, or any person listening, should feel required to do because they hold a ‘submissive’ role in a relationship. But when it’s something you’re happy to do, regardless of what society says? That’s powerful.

#003. “OLD TOWN ROAD (REMIX)” - SINGLE BY LIL NAS X AND BILLY RAY CYRUS RELEASE DATE: 05 APRIL 2019

I know. Okay? I know. I am risking my credibility as a music journalist by putting this song in what is meant to be a serious review -- but hear me out. I’m more than willing to argue about why this song is unironically good all day long. As Lil Nas X says on the track himself, “Can’t nobody tell me nothin’.” 

The original “Old Town Road” came as 2018 was fading away (good riddance), and though it was pretty popular within the meme community as this fun and entertaining country-trap hybrid, it never really saw real status as a musical release. Lil Nas X was only 19 when he released it to SoundCloud, and as I’ve stated before, SoundCloud is not exactly the place to go if you want to find music of legit quality. Not always, at least. 

But when this remix hit the charts, everything changed. At first I didn’t even bother with it because I had listened to the original and while it served its purpose as a comical and light-hearted guilty-pleasure track, it wasn’t anything I was too invested in. Yet, as I’m sure any of you who have a twitter account are aware, this song was literally everywhere and was climbing the charts faster than anything I had ever seen before, so I gave in and listened. And, by god, this is among very few country songs I can actually enjoy -- and that’s saying a lot, as a country girl by birth. 

So, let’s get into why this song is so, so good. First of all, the arrangement is simple yet so effective, and the beat drop on the aforementioned “Can’t nobody tell me nothin’” chorus is borderline artistic. The way the vocals are synthesized and enhanced gives the song a completely different feel from its original, like something you can actually enjoy without feeling as though your best friend will side-eye you from the corner of the room (that is based on personal experience), and even if he did, you wouldn’t care. Admittedly, this song leaves a lot to be desired lyrically, but the simplistic rhyme scheme and Billy Ray Cyrus’ assertive and very iconic rap bring a joy to my heart that is nearly indescribable. 

My only complaint about this song is that it’s so short. At least one more refrain, or another verse would have been greatly appreciated since it feels like it stops so short, but that’s easily remedied by hitting the replay button. Not all songs have to be deep and thought-provoking to be good, and Lil Nas X deserved his big break with this infectious and spirit-lifting song he and Billy Ray Cyrus have brought us.

#002. “I LUV U” - SINGLE BY 5OGUE (보그) RELEASE DATE: 19 APRIL 2019

I felt somewhat depressed about missing my chance to review 5ogue’s sixth mini-album, “Mixed 6nals” last month, but as if they read my mind, they released an auxiliary single near the end of their promoting period to give me a second chance. (Side note: if you, my dear readers, are still interested in full a Mixed 6nals review, just let me know. I have a lot to say about that album.) They’ve actually done this before with their fifth mini-album, “Re:Covery” where they released “HXTE U” as a single as a gift to fans. I can only imagine how much work and planning goes into something like that, but 5ogue have shown themselves to be fiercely dedicated to their fans many times before, so I can’t say I’m surprised. 

Anyway, to be honest, I was kind of shocked when I first listened to this song because I thought I wasn’t too fond of it. I’ve stated many times before that I’m extremely picky with songs that have overly-repetitive lyrics because I feel like if they don’t serve a certain purpose, it’s just ear poison, but after my first listen I quickly released just how obsessed with this song I was, even if the word ‘like’ is said over 100 times. 

I don’t think I’m very susceptible to brainwashing, but the chorus went from being a little annoying to being infectious; I genuinely couldn’t stop listening to it because I couldn’t get enough, and the more I listened, the more the song grew on me. The chorus does most of the work for this track, and I think that’s where that ‘purpose’ i mentioned earlier comes in, because the verses are simple but are delivered in a way that center around the chorus and pull the song together perfectly. The message of being so extremely infatuated that it makes them physically and emotionally sick is conveyed in not only the lyrics, but the style and arrangement of the song itself, and that makes it so clever. They don’t glamourize that, either -- they show how unhealthy it is to think of someone that way, even if it can be sickeningly sweet. I love that. I luv that. 

5ogue have pretty much established themselves as the masters of Retro Pop, so the old-school-with-a-new-school twist aspects of this track come as no surprise, but rather as a nice brand that lets you know this is something they’ve created. And even if you’ve never been obsessed with another person to the degree this song expresses, the power vocals and smooth raps draw you in enough to invite you to their world, and to give you a taste of what its like. That’s brilliant to me, and 5ogue really stepped outside of the box with this song.

#001. “SUPREME” - EXTENDED PLAY BY WICKED! (위키드!) RELEASE DATE: 25 APRIL 2019

This may look like bias because, as many of you probably know, my sister is in this group. But, as many of you probably also know, I don’t really tend to let how much I like or dislike an artist influence my objective reaction to their music, so believe me when I say this album is number one because it’s amazing rather than my familial ties to it. 

Good? Good. 

That out of the way, let’s talk about “Supreme.” This is, by far, Wicked!’s best release to date and I’m not sure if they’ll be able to top it anytime soon. Every song on this mini-album was good, so much so that I struggled to pick which ones to discuss here at first, but after a long period of introspection I have settled on “No” and “Like It,” and of course we should at least briefly cover the other title track, “Kill This Love.” 

This album starts off with a bang, literally, as the heavy drum and trumpets of “Kill This Love” will actively scare the shit out of you if you aren’t expecting them. But, given this song’s disposition and very bold lyrics, I think that was more than intentional, as the girls discuss getting rid of a toxic and superficial love before it becomes something they can’t walk away from. Kimmy’s rap in this song is some of the best I’ve heard from her; the tumble-like flow and high-energy really adds to the overall message of this song -- that they’re strong enough to let go of something for their own good, even if they don’t necessarily want to do it on the surface level. The vocalists really came through on this song as well, and all the members really did their part to make this power anthem the great song that it is. 

Next up is “No,” one of my favourite songs to come out this year so far. This song actually distantly reminds me of “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred, with the low synths and dance-pop vibe it gives off, as well as the confident lyrics. Don’t get me wrong, though; these girls outsold those crusty white guys without any question concerning it. The chorus and Future Bass-like arrangement of it are so unique, and fuse with the idea of loving yourself and being confident in the things you like in an unexpected and yet perfect way. The bridge of this song is actually my favourite part, as it makes you just want to strut like a supermodel no matter what you’re doing or wearing. This song makes me feel sexy, independent, and free to do whatever I want, and I think that’s a common sentiment. It’s excellent work. 

Finally, I feel a begrudging need to talk about “Like It” -- and I have to say begrudging because, as fantastic of a song as this is, it’s really weird to hear my little sister sing about sexual sensations. But, we’re both grown women and I can look past that enough to tell you that “Like It” is one of the best songs on this incredible album, second to only “No,” in my opinion. The Dance-pop and R&B combination of this track is beautiful in terms of both its arrangement and how it fits with the sensual lyrics. Speaking of those lyrics, they’re pretty simple aside from the raps, but I think that’s perfect for a song like this because when you get to feeling so strongly about wanting to be with someone, you often can’t think straight. Maybe I’m giving the writers too much credit, but if that was intentional, it’s brilliant.

Interactive Introverts Manila – September 13, 2018

On the day of the show itself I was a nervous wreck. I’d been waiting for 10 months, which felt like a long time and no time at all. If we really wanted to get technical, I’ve been wanting to meet Dan and Phil since 2016. But then Dan revealed that they tried to bring TATINOF to Manila but failed, so I thought I’d never get the chance.

Meeting Dan and Phil was such a wonderful but weird out-of-body experience. For months, I discussed with my friends about what I’d tell them, what gifts to bring, what clothes to wear, what poses to do for our photos. But no matter how prepared I was, everything was shot to hell when it was my turn. The only way I could describe it is overwhelming. No matter how long I’d watched them online, it was nothing like seeing them move and hearing them talk in front of me in real life. The image of them staring at me, waiting for me to say something is something that’s gonna be imprinted in my brain forever, probably. They’re so attentive! And they look you dead in the eyes when you talk to them! It’s great that they do but AAAAAAAAAAA?? Was the only thing running through my head in the moment.

I told them that I’ve been waking up at 4 am for the past 4 years just to watch their videos and liveshows and they were like :o and I mentioned that despite that, I graduated from university last May. They congratulated me, sweet boys. And Dan mentioned his usual spiel of getting through university further than he did. I also thanked them for doing an entire tour just to come to Manila and giving me the opportunity to meet them, and they thanked me for supporting them. I also thanked them at least 10 times.

Also, they’re actual trees. Big, sturdy trees. I’m 5’3”, so I definitely looked like a dwarf next to them but not only are they tall, they’re broad. Like seriously. When I hugged them I could barely get my arms around their shoulders. And I didn’t get to smell them because I think I quite literally forgot how to breathe. Oops.

I asked them to sign a poster that had lyrics from Taylor Swift’s Long Live and some of their tweets to me, including a screencap of one making it to Dan’s 2017 memes video. He called it iconic.

By now everyone knows that there were originally two dates for II Manila, but on September 1st, Phil mentioned that they had to be merged into one single show because of logistical issues. The ticket I’d originally bought was for the September 12 show, which was the one that got axed. This means that my seat was relocated from row 2 to row 20.

Well – when I got there I honestly knew I didn’t want to sit in row 20. I wanted to experience the show up close. Not only because I have bad eyesight but also because it was my last opportunity to see them that up close for the unforeseeable future. And then I noticed that in the VIP area, there were a lot of empty seats. Particularly – in the very front row, where more than half of the seats were unoccupied. So when Welcome to the Black Parade started playing and I was sure that there were no more people coming in through the doors, I got my seatmate to move up to front row with me, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made in my entire life. At one point we ran up to the stage to touch Dan’s ‘hair’ and he gave us fake hair!! It was wild.

The show itself was fucking nuts. Partly because the crowd in Manila was absolutely deafening, mostly because Dan and Phil really know how to put on a great performance. I didn’t go into it completely spoiler-free, but most of the spoilers I’d seen I tried my best to not know the context to. Well. Having all of those spoilers pieced together was an experience. When I say I my soul left my body when I finally found out why ‘super best friends and soulmates’ and ‘I’d do anything for you, Phil’ was in the script, I wasn’t kidding. My favorite segments from the show were Wholesome Howell/X-Rated Lester, the sacrifice, Dan vs Phil, and the songs at the end. Screaming ‘Watch out bitch!!’ along with Phil was the single best moment of the entire show for me.

It’s been 2 days since my show, and all I can say is I miss them. I miss them with every fiber of my being and I would do anything to see them again. But I’ve read that they mentioned the Manila crowd during their show in Singapore, so I think it’s safe to say they miss us too. And that’s the one thing I really wanted out of this entire experience – to give Dan and Phil a show they would never forget. Manila was the reason the tour was formed in the first place, and I’m so happy to know we met their expectations.

Thanks for never giving up on Manila. Thanks for the happiest day of my entire life. I’m going to love you knuckleheads forever, if you don’t mind. @danielhowell @amazingphil
